Sasha and Connie would probably remain two chaotic creatures that live in a farm. Sasha would also remain in the military, in my opinion. She likes teaching young people and helping her community. Connie just decided to live a quiet life with his family, probably in a farm close to Sasha's family estate.

Ymir and Historia are married and queens. That's it. They are icons and care for many orphans (even if Ymir is awkward with them).

Erwin, Levi and Hange are retired and on permanent vacation. Permanent vacation! Also, Levi's squad is alive and well. Levi is one of those old dudes who accidentally got adopted by children despite his very mean face.

Reiner has a family. He probably has a bunch of kids that he loves so much. He is the best father in the world because his own dad was trash. HE IS NO CONTACT WITH HIS MOM!!!

Bertholdt is honestly just living his best life, just sleeping in weird positions and resting. No I don't think he got with Annie. I can imagine him becoming a teacher.

Annie just disappeared and took Pieck with her. She is living in a cabin far away with zero human contact and a bunch of chickens and goats. That girl deserves peace. Pieck is there because it's quiet and she can nap all day.

Porco and Marcel are happy siblings, so are Colt and Falco. Falco and Gabi actually married, I don't make the rules.

Zeke is just...Zeke. I think he becomes a doctor and runs an abortion clinic. Not elaborating on that.

My man Onyankopon is a rich dude on a paradise island, just chilling and being the handsome man that he is. Probably is the one who brought Hange, Levi and Erwin to the island for their eternal vacation.

“Where the fuck is four-eyes?”

Levi was pissed. He stomped into Hanges empty quarters, opening and closing the door to the bathroom, the wardrobe, looking under the bed. All while you stood in the doorway, the tray with cake in your hands, Moblit behind you carrying the stack of plates and the cutlery. Why did Hange always have to be so unpredictable? You had all met up super early for their birthday surprise to make sure Hange would still be asleep. Additionally it was a regular work day for everyone but you.

“Let’s check the lab then.” Moblits suggestion was met by a scoff from Levi and a nod from you.

The birthday brigade made its way down the hallway, led by the cake that Moblit and you had made the evening prior. You weren’t as good with elaborate plans for such an occasion as Hange was and didn’t need to. They had told you they’d like a cake and then joked that you could take them out for dinner. It was from a time before you got together and had been your plan since forever. This year you would make it happen. If you found them.

Yet when you entered the part of the basement at whose end the lab/office/occasional sleeping place was located, you already heard what sounded like a yelp from Hange and something falling to the stone floor. A good sign and a bad sign. The three of you hurried across the hall.

“Are you okay?”

You had opened the door only slightly, a safety precaution against whatever might have spilled or been broken. Levi wasn’t that considerate, pushing it open with his foot, nearly hitting Hange in the face who had moved towards to the door by then. Luckily their reflexes still worked and they didn’t even seem to notice, expression lighting up when they saw you.

“Oh perfect timing, you won’t believe what I found!”

Hange nonchalantly took the tray with the cake, setting it aside on one of the few empty surfaces that were even more precious considering the current condition of the room. You didn’t get to say anything, too confused by whatever Hange had going on right now. It wasn’t was you expected at all. Stumbling over ropes that had been used to restrain titans and hitting your feet against the old broken microscope Hange had meant to recycle, you were pulled along by them, having taken your now free hands in theirs.

“What the hell are you doing?”

Levis voice always managed to draw everyones’ attention to him, even Hange who was solely focused on you, one arm around your waist while reaching for something with the other. They turned around.

“Sorting out the lab, Erwin told me yesterday he needs the inventory list till the end of the week. What are you doing here then?”

“You know it’s your birthday today, do you?” You asked Hange in a quiet voice, reaching up to gently adjust their glasses that had nearly fallen off in the whole ordeal.

Hange stared, gaze shifting from Levi to Moblit to you, mouth slightly agape and you could see the gears working in their head.

“Isn’t that tomorrow? On Tuesday?”

“It’s Tuesday.” You stated, following their eyes that where now resting on the cake.

“Oh.”

“Happy Birthday.” You took the initiative, pulling them close and pressing a gentle kiss to their lips that Hange was still too stunned to reciprocate at that point.

“Happy Birthday.” Levi had crossed his arms, still annoyed but visibly softening up now.

“Happy Birthday! Let’s all eat the cake we made for you then, shall we?” Moblit was a master of diffusing difficult situations and again it worked like a charm. He took the maze of things lying on the floor like it was nothing, setting up the plates on the small side table.

“Oh you made cake for me? You’re the best.” Hange gave you the brightest smile and then continued to cover you face in kisses, brimming over with excitement again.

“Moblit and me.” You corrected them while being yet again pulled through the chaos on the floor towards the small table that Moblit had set in the meantime while Levi brought the cake over. The lab wasn’t even that big, yet with how crammed everything was and nowhere to set your feet, the perceived distances grew.

“Thanks Moblit, you’re awesome!” Where you got a hug and kisses poor Moblit got a too enthusiastic slap - more a punch - to the back that he took in stride. He wasn’t her assistant for nothing.

There weren’t any chairs to sit on, so you all just stood around the table while Levi cut the cake into even pieces with terrifying precision. Hange leaned their head against your shoulder, an arm around your waist again, attached as always when you were together. Indulging in comfortable proximity.

You could see the relief on Moblits face when Hange tried to compliment the two of you while still chewing only to get scolded by Levi over their bad manners. Surely Moblit could see your relief as well. Baking wasn’t covered in your basic training after all. But to be fair, the cake was really good and even your grumpy friend seemed to enjoy it, even taking a second piece. That way the four of you managed to only leave crumbs after some time, enjoying the unusual breakfast.

Levi and Moblit had to leave for other duties after that, although the latter would be back soon to help clean up and double-check the inventory. Now alone with Hange, the initial rush having calmed down, you cupped their cheeks, involving them into another soft kiss that they got to reciprocate this time. It left them with a bright smile when you parted that you feel fuzzy. How much you loved them.

“What was the thing you wanted to show me again?”

You finally managed to ask and your question had Hange jump back into action. The two of you made their way across the room and stuff lying around for the third time, Hange pulling you along by the hand, before arriving at the desk where Hange gestured to a collection of sprawled out pages.

“You remember when you brought back those leaves from the giant forest so we could put them under the microscope after I complained about forgetting to get them all the time because I get so focussed on the Titans? So apparently we decided to press and dry and put them under a stack of books in the corner back then and forgot about it. But I just found them now and they look perfect! We need to put them under the microscope again now that they’re dry.”

They barely took a breath during the explanation, now awaiting your reaction.

“We could do that now and I help you with the stocktaking after that. I took the day off today, I have time.”

“Really?” They clapped their hands together in excitement and you couldn’t describe their eyes in any other way than sparkling with joy. Just one of the many things you loved so much about Hange.

“Of course. It’s your birthday after all.”

Day 8 of 31 of the yandere month May challenge. This yandere is very creepy, I'm officially only using they/them pronouns for Hange! So just an fyi.

Hey so I finally finish this one. It's shitty, I didn't have many ideas, but I wanted to get this one out. There are more on my page, for those you found this off of a tag or something. It's also super short so I'm sorry about that too.

Hange takes lets you see their masterpiece. The monstrous idea scares you, now Hange has to fix things. While keeping the reason behind it all a secret.

It has been weeks since they'd finished it. Hange had been wanting to show you their masterpiece for so long, and now they could. It was something they'd been planning for about 3 months, and they'd finally had the resources to begin the project.

What project you may ask? Well the "Titan Steam Body" project. It isn't a great name, nor does it properly describe it, but it's good in its own way. The project is comprised of titan body parts, Hange learned how to preserve them for up to a week.

They'd learned that if they pole certain parts it will let out more steam than others. They made molds and sticks them on the poles, so when they steam came out. It would be the shape of a word. So they found a way to give you a ring, not a marriage one. Far too early for that, but a promise ring. Erwin had mentioned something about it and Hange adores the idea.

The found a way to pole specific parts of the mangled body parts, slowly making the words PLEASE ACCEPT MY PROMISE RING!

It took so, so, so long to finally get it right. They'd used so many titans, it was almost scary how many they used. Hange couldn't wait, literally, they decided to do it earlier than prepared.

"This way, this way! You'll love it!"

Hange tug you along, pulling you into a large room you didn't even know existed. Hange had their hands over your eyes, wanting to keep it a surprise for a little while longer.

Hange takes their hands from your eyes, showing you their masterpiece. A megawatt grin on their face, they press a button nearby. The pins and needles slam into the titans letting out steam in the right areas.

". . .W-well? Do you like it, my love?"

You stared in horror. What the actual hell, Hange!? That's what you were thinking. You wanted to yell, to ask questions. You opened your mouth before closing it once more. You had all recently learned that titans used to be people. Why would they do this? Knowing what they know...

When Hange noticed you weren't smiling, they assumed that you didn't want the ring. They looked away, feeling tears in their eyes.

"Oh god, we're moving too fast aren't we? Oh I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have even thought or the idea."

You looked up at Hange, it was obvious they didn't feel bad. No, they were unhappy that you didn't like it. That's why they looked so down, not because they felt some form of remorse.

You finally found the courage to speak. You told Hange this was beyond fucked up, that you felt you didn't need to remind Hange that these people used fo be HUMAN! Hange listened to you yell, for a little while. After some time they put a finger on your lips.

"Honey, is that why you're mad? If it makes you feel any better these are titan shifter limbs. I made sure Eren was okay with it before I did it."

Oh. It took you a second to get your grounding back. You look at Hange again and breath a bit easier. You tell them it still thought it was wrong, you know how scared Eren got about the experiments in the past.

"I'm sorry...d-do you not want the ring?"

Oh no, Hange rarely cried(unless they were tears of joy) so this wasn't something you were used to. You tell Hange you want the ring, giving them a small kiss on the cheek. You wrap your arms around Hanges shoulder, giving them a big hug. You whisper 'I love you'

"I love you too pumkpin..."

While Hange was smiling and holding you, their eyes weren't as happy. This could have gone horribly wrong, this could have ended your relationship. All because you were scared about a bunch of random titans!? Why!? Why are some random monsters you don't know better them them!?

Hange grips you a bit tighter, their smile fading. They notice you struggle a bit in their grasp, they let go gently. Hange looks at your face, sees the worry, the love, the gentle kindness. They see it all, and they melt.

"Oh sweetie! I love you so much!"

Hange starts to gently kiss your face pulling you into their warm arms. While you laugh and giggle. Your mind was full of happiness, theirs was full of ideas on how to convince Eren to lie to you.

     “How was your day?” Hange poured you a cup of wine from behind you, setting down your glass and kissing your cheek before sitting down. “Mine was pretty good. Just went shopping to get some of these things.” You smile, taking a bite of your food. “Suki went on a play date while I was gone. Oliver’s hair is getting dark! I think I'm gonna win the bet.” You smile. “Nuh uh, he’s gonna have blonde hair! Erwin’s genes are too powerful.” Hange argues back. They drink their wine, shaking their head.

       “Call Erwin tonight. He may have Erwin’s face but that kid is going to have Levi’s hair!” You argue back. They huff, taking a big bite from their food. “How was your day?” You laugh, watching as their eyes light up. “Great! I got the day off tomorrow, and I already texted your boss so you have the day off too. I was thinking we could go to the amusement park? I wanna surprise Suki.” Hange rambled on, eyes deep in yours.

      You were about to reply, just as some footsteps interrupted you. “Suki? Why are you up, baby?” Hange kneeled on the floor, picking her up. You wipe your lips before standing up. “Come here!” Hange set Suki down. Suki grabbed Hange’s pant leg, dragging them towards the living room. 

        You laughed as you saw the scene unfold from in front of you. Suki had set out two teacups, matching plates and a teapot from her toy bin and set it out on the coffee table. Suki made Hange sit on the floor before looking up at you. Suki ran back to her bin, pulling out one more plate and teacup. 

      “Mama.” She called, pointing next to Hange. You sat next to them. Hange smiled, words unable to leave their mouth. Suki poured invisible tea from the teapot, before placing plastic cake on each plate. “Tea party with mommy and Hange!” She giggled, before pulling up a mini chair and sitting down. The two of you start to “cut” the cake and “eat” it.

      “This is so good! Did you make it?” Hange played along. “No, mommy did. Mommy makes the best cake!” Suki threw up her arms, kicking her feet. “Mommy does have the best cake.” Hange smiled, leaning their head on your shoulder. 

        You all eat real food, and real cake. Suki sat in between you guys on the couch, hee small body leaning against Hange. “So when are you down for dinner again?” You smile. “This was a real dinner.” Hange joked back, kissing your lips.

okay so i feel like she'd be the outgoing nerdy person

hange was REALLY into her studies, she barley went to parties, trips, practically almost didn't have the college experience bes school was more important

she definitely majored something involving technology or science, maybe like computer science, chemistry, physics something that peaks her interests. she had very few friends, associates yeah a lot, but she wasn't like super popular and stuff. either way she's very sociable and friendly which is very good, very nice. moblit, erwin and levi would probably be her only friends and like tbh it looked odd to others. (there were definitely some rumors at once 🫣)

anyways one day she met you through a friend that you both knew. you went up to her bcs you just saw her doing her work at a table in the cafe on campus, you initiated the convo by asking where she came from, her major so on and so forth. lowkey you were slick with it too, bcs deep down you desired to know more about this mysterious hange, it was planned from the start, you even asked your friends for advice.

anyways she talked with you and ended up spiraling about endless nerdy stuff and you just admired her while she talked about it. you were lowkey intrigued. she eventually apologized, then you found the right way to get her number.

"we can continue this convo another time, here's my number" you smiled she was vv happy about it because she finally had another friend! no more of the same 3 men everyday! yay!

this was the start of something wonderful, quickly you became her best friend (sorry moblit :(. ) you guys did everything together, you visited her at her job as a lab assistant and she’d visit you at your job as a cashier at a department store. you two would go hang out at the arcade, local restaurants. she'd take you out to the beach, you'd help her study, you guys would play videos games together. literally everything, you guys were the best of friends.

everyone was literally so surprised when they saw she had another friend that she was oh so close to. they were happy for you guys though!

one day you came to terms that maybe you liked your bestfriend in more than a friendly way. and it ATE YOU UP. you didn't know if they felt the same way, you didn't know if it would screw things up. you were so scared to even look at hange :(

she noticed and got worried one day and asked you if you were alright and if you wanted to stay at her apartment and study. you obliged obvi but was still shaking in your boots. you complimented her over and over and she kept saying "aww thank you, i love you so much too” and it finally became your last straw and you told her how you felt. how you actually felt. she got really flushed and explained how she felt the same way but just didn't know how to tell u. it ended with you guys sharing a sweet somber kiss and making your relationship official! you also stayed over her apartment ;)

you guys told everyone about it, your friend groups basically combined lowkey. you guys still studied together. hange would always surprise you with dinner after a long day of classes and you guys would head straight back to her apartment to chill.

she'd take you out on sweet dates, she even goes to parties now just for you.

So I feel like during his time in the underground he was very very crass and didn’t give a single shit about manners

If he had to burp he was just gonna do it

Once he was made to join the walls’ military on the surface he began to use his burps as an act of defiance

I think once he gained respect for Erwin and his cause he began to mind his manners more, he had a reason to

It was a slow progression

At first he’d just burp behind a closed fist

Then he started releasing all his burps with a closed mouth, still behind his fist

Eventually my guy did work his way up to excusing himself but it’s literally only when Erwin’s around

Otherwise he’ll just turn away and belch with his mouth closed into his fist

His burps are very long and growly

They usually last a minimum of four seconds

He tries not to burp in front of his subordinates (and Erwin)

All bets are off with Hange

He doesn’t GAF when he’s with Hange

It’s kinda unavoidable for his squad to have heard him burp at some point though

And I feel like they were kinda shocked

They were definitely even more shocked though when he happened to burp in front of them while Erwin was there and he actually said the words “excuse me”

This came to my mind and I'd like to share it lol sorry if its too long

Noble Hange AU where although she is working in survey corps her father forces her to marry someone of value or else Hange will have to return home and in that same place her father will choose a husband for her and she will live as a housewife. And Hange doesn't want that so she goes super embarrassed and blushing to ask humanity's strongest soldiern alias her grumpy friend Levi to marry her, obviously says the reasons so that he doesn't think in that way.

And surprisingly he accepts and this has her shocked because she thought he was going to reject with his typical Levi character. His father approves and everyone hears the rumor that the scientist and the strongest soldier are married and they ask about the wedding or how they started falling in love... which made them both think about how they met and the years they've been fighting and linving together.

They were not that typical married couple either, since they kept arguing or insulting each other like before.. But small changes could be seen, like Levi playing with the ring on his fingers or even using it when she said it wasn't necessary to use it. Or cadets being afraid of the captain and Hange explains that although he is a grump and has a cold attitude has a big heart and is very good even if he doesn't show it, Hange has always corrected the cadets about Levi, but this time it felt different.

Or how now they have to attend to her father's ballrooms and they are always together side by side like the military parties they always attended with Erwin while they made fun of or bothered the rich. The only thing that was different now was his arm around her waist and his warm hands that fit perfectly in her palm.

Those little details made them realize that they acted like a married couple long before they were publicly married. In the end, getting married wasn't so bad if it was the two of them who were destined to do it.

anon!! your brain!!! i had a very similar idea for a fic i'd never write, where it basically come down to hange having a fience who is sort of neglected of her? he's your typical nobleman so he doesn't really support hange's work or even understand the importance of survey corps's main goal, and hange either gets into terrible fights with him or simply keeps her mouth shut, because she doesn't wish to get in trouble with her father.

so! on one hand, we have a kind of awful fiance who is not suited for hange at all, and, on the other, we have levi, who only recently joined survey corps, just started getting close to hange and realizing what a fascinating person she is.

and then, during one of usual military parties, levi, who by this time became quite dependent on hange to lead him through any remotely large gatherins of unfamiliar people, cannot for the life of him find her. he starts to think that maybe four-eyes ditched the party in favor of her darling lab, but then he goes to ask erwin about it, and it turns out that hange is going to attend the party, just not as soldier from survey corps. and then hange appears - in a long, ridiculous dress that doesn't fit her at all, with hair styled in a way that makes her almost unrecognisable and without her signature glasses. and with some man levi has never seen before holding her by the hand.

levi's so confused that it takes a long moment for him to truly understand what is going on. and then, as erwin gives him a sympathetic look, everything clicks. and he gets sort of angry, sort of sad, because, maybe, just the night before, he and hange have exhanged a kiss, and now to see hange with another man-

levi spends the whole night, glaring at the couple and debating if he should go and confront hange, but then hange comes to him herself, introducing levi to the man she calls her fience. that only fuels levi's frustration and he decides to follow after hange, but as he does, he eavesdrops on an argument between hange and her fiance. the man berates hange for embarrassing him and talking over him during a conversation with another nobleman. levi almost smiles, fully expecting hange to verbally rip that fience of hers apart, but... hange is strangely quiet, and answers the accusations with a timid apology. levi is flabbergasted as he hears this, he's so enraged on hange's behalf that only his respect for her stops him from punching that arrogant asshole in the face.

he waits until the man leaves and then approaches hange. at first, hange is awfully embarrassed by this whole ordeal - something levi never thought could actually happen, and seeing hange like this, so different from a fierce soldier he grew to know, breaks his heart a little, but after a bit of gentle probing hange tells him about the arrangement she made with her father and how she needs a husband to continue her work in survey corps and how her asshole fience is actually the most fitting man she could find. she tells him how she has no other choice because her father demands a marriage with a prominent figure and so.... levi, who has noblemen, their weird prejudice and, most of all, hates to see hange in such a helpless state, offers her to marry him instead. and the rest is history <333

so: erwin made it to the sea with the others (everyone knows that as it’s canon). everyone had 1 (one) beach day when they found it, and even though it’s “”selfish””, erwin wants to have a day like that there.

ofc levi will fulfill this wish. at this point, the dock and railroad is finished, and levi zoomeddd through the week’s work to get time to go there for the day. it’s erwin’s birthday after all :333 the reveal of what levi did for him makes him really teary.

the 2 of them go. erwin is determined to have levi have fun too, since he put in so much work, and levi hates the feeling of sand on his feet, much less swimming yk. erwin got him sandals✅ rubbed on sunscreen ofc✅but levi won’t swim. he just won’t. he says the sea is filled with germs and gross creatures

they’re exploring the rocks lining the coast. yk the ones perfect for jumping in. and. erwin, feeling playful, pushes him in

levi can’t swim. HE CANT SWIM. erwin saves him and a shit ton of comfort ensues. the guilt he feels cannot fit 3 dimensions, but levi just wishes he was honest with him. levi insists they enjoy the rest of the day cos at least they’re together

I'm sorry this took so long but you know me I have to spend like two thousand words on just setup and descriptions of pretty shit and etc etc.

Low key referenced that one time I fell into a pool when I was four and also that time my sister nearly drowned when I was ten.

Content warnings! Um... there's a brief NSFW mention if you're super not into that; drowning; the vastness of the ocean if you have that phobia.

A year seems like such a long time when you’re living it, but it’s merely a blink when you’re looking back. That odd dilation and contraction of time has always been strange to Levi, no matter how many times he reflects.

It’s been a little more than a year and a half since the Survey Corps took back Shiganshina. Sometimes when Levi thinks about that, he finds himself soaked in the fear he felt that day, as real and present as it had been then. So much loss, the feeling of control just a fleeting thought. If he focuses hard enough, he can still feel the air shift from the stones thrown at him and his comrades. He tries not to think about that. Just like he tries not to think about how close he came to losing Erwin. 

That cold steel pain that had seized his heart when he told the only man he’d truly loved to go to his death had heated to molten metal when Floch had brought Erwin to the roof, near death but still alive. Floch may be an egotistical follower with few thoughts of his own, but he saved Erwin that day, and Levi is grateful for that. He knows the boy’s motives were far from pure – he’d said himself he thought Erwin deserved to return to the hell of life rather than rest in peace – but Levi doesn’t care anymore. He got Erwin back. The kids still look at Levi with a small hint of resentment, but he’s long since stopped letting it bother him. Or at least, he won’t tell anyone that it still bothers him.

Just a few short weeks ago, the railroad was completed. Levi is still a little wary of it; what kind of monstrous thing can travel so much faster than a horse? The cold metal and loud chugging of the engine make his teeth feel sour, but the others marvel at its industriousness, so he bites his tongue whenever someone in the Interior asks about it. The most he’s ever divulged outside of Erwin’s bedroom is that he finds it makes the landscape look a little more lifeless. Onyankopon had laughed at that, commenting, “That’s what progress looks like!”

Despite officially leaving command to Hange, Erwin is still ‘The Face’ of the Survey Corps, and how could he not be? When the piddling remains of the Corps had returned from the Battle for Shiganshina, he’d been lauded as a hero. There had been parades in the streets — ostensibly for the entire Corps, sure — but mostly for Erwin. After all, he was the man with the brain that brought Humanity its biggest victory yet. No one asked how or why Erwin suddenly had his right arm again, at least not to his face. They shook that returned right hand with a warm smile and then whispered to their friends and colleagues. 

Levi had hoped that this victory, and the information they learned in that damned basement, would have alleviated some of the guilt from Erwin’s shoulders, would have brought new light into his eyes and lifted some burdens from his heart. When they eradicated the Pure Titans on the island and ensured none would ever come back through the effort of Eren and Erwin at the docks, he hoped the fanfare and celebrations would convince Erwin that his job was done, that he could retire and relax for just once in his life.

And yet, Erwin continues to be so damnably devoted to the tasks at hand that he’s still not had much of a day off, even as the kids all took turns to go to the ocean. Even Hange has taken their turn, returning with their poor horse weighed down with ‘samples,’ comprised largely of shells, stones, and inevitably slimy, foul-smelling creatures they plucked from the surf. They’ve hoarded these things in their office, choosing to spend their free time investigating and evaluating them instead of doing more humane things, like bathing for the sake of the rest of the Corps.

Levi keeps trying to convince Erwin to take a day, to go to the sea. He remembers the look in Erwin’s eyes when he saw that broad expanse of water for the first time. More specifically, he remembers thinking that Erwin’s eyes were modeled after both the sky and the sea; the three a perfect compliment to each other, connecting water, land, and air in a beautifully captivating trinity. 

But since that day, Erwin’s only excursions to the coast have been to destroy Marleyan ships and deter more invasions from their newfound tormentors. He’s mentioned several times how much he’d love to spend a day with his toes in the sand, soaking in the sun, but has never taken the time to do it. Levi has decided that will change today.

It is, after all, Erwin’s birthday.

Though Levi still doesn’t quite understand the new concepts of climate and the idea of living on an island versus the land mass called a ‘continent,’ he does know that he appreciates that today is just as warm as most summer days. The cold won’t arrive for another couple of weeks, making it a perfect day to bring Erwin to the beach. So he dictates as much of his daily work as possible and sets the kids to cleaning the entirety of HQ before he storms into Erwin’s office. As usual, he finds him bent over the books recovered from the Jaeger basement, writing notes in his own notebook. As he is more often these days, he’s slightly disheveled, stubble prickling along his jaw and his hair free of pomade, making him look more like a civilian than the former Commander of the Survey Corps. Admittedly, Levi likes this look on him, and he’s not as grossed out by the prickle of facial hair grazing his skin at night than he thought he would be.

“Hey,” Levi says, pulling Erwin from his study. “Let’s go.”

Erwin hardly looks up, placing a finger in place in whatever book he’s scouring as he jots down another note.

“Go where?”

Levi walks over and shuts the book over Erwin’s hand, gripping the stubbled chin with his free hand.

“It’s a surprise.”

That gets Erwin’s attention, and he’s graced with a raised eyebrow and an adorable frown that Levi desperately wants to nibble between his teeth.

“A surprise?” Erwin regards him for a long moment. “You don’t do surprises, Levi.”

“Well, I do, today. Come on.”

Levi pulls Erwin from his chair and drags him to the waiting carriage. Inside, bags that have been packed and repacked and packed again over the last three days sit on the floor between the benches. As he pulls the carriage door closed, Levi nods to the driver, who sets the horses in motion. 

They’re only in the carriage for ten minutes before Erwin, his need to know as strong as ever, moves to pull the curtain from the window to see where they’re headed. Levi holds it in place, a wry half-smile on his face.

“Like I said, it’s a surprise.”

Erwin fakes a pout but can’t hide the schoolboy excitement rising into his face, and Levi leans across the carriage to place a soft kiss on his lips. It’s all he can do to simply leave it as a small kiss. By the way Erwin shifts in his seat, it’s clear he feels the same.

“So,” Erwin says, gesturing towards the bags on the floor. “Can you at least tell me what that’s about?”

“We’ll be gone for a couple of days,” Levi says simply. He experiences a certain satisfaction as he watches Erwin squirm from the non-answer.

“But there’s work to do–” Erwin starts, and Levi knows he’s trying to fish for more information in that clever, subtle way he does. 

“I got clearance from Hange,” he responds simply. 

The ride takes a good few hours, and eventually Levi pulls out a small box with a packed lunch. When he opens it, Erwin chuckles heartily.

“You’ve certainly thought this through, Levi.”

“You’re not the only one with a working brain you know,” Levi teases, passing a sandwich across. “I used to be the brains of my own operation, you know. Back in the old days.”

Erwin chuckles again but doesn’t respond. They never talk about Levi’s days in the Underground. Not anymore; there’s no need, when the blonde knows everything there is to know.

It’s near dusk by the time they arrive, and before alighting from the carriage, Levi instructs Erwin to stay there; close his eyes and cover his ears, and wait for him to return. Erwin does as he asks, even as a big goofy smile spreads on his lips.

Levi jumps from the carriage and pulls open one of the bags, filled with camping gear. He pitches their tent with practiced ease and sets their bedrolls and other bags inside. He looks a the location of the tent and, satisfied, returns to the carriage. He kisses Erwin’s cheek and pulls his hands away from his ears, and it’s clear from the look in those beautiful blue eyes that he instantly knows where they are. Still, he can hardly hide his excitement as he is led from the carriage to see a tent pitched onto the sand, the gentle roll of the waves filling the air, the smell of salt filling their lungs.

Whilst Erwin marvels at the sight before him, Levi turns to the carriage driver and informs him of when to return, pays the man, and turns around straight into a bear hug. Even as he struggles not to get smothered by the massive pectorals pressing against his cheeks, he can’t stop the grin on his lips.

“Happy birthday, Erwin,” Levi mutters into the shirt that’s pressing against his mouth. 

Erwin pulls away, his eyes glittering, and laughs.

“I forgot it’s my birthday. Thank you, Levi.” He leans down and presses a kiss into dark hair.

“If you’re so old that you can’t even remember what day it is, maybe we shouldn’t let you ride a horse anymore,” Levi teases. “You might run someone over.”

Erwin lets Levi lead him to the tent and sits whilst wood is gathered for a fire. By the time it’s lit and setting up coals, the moon starts to rise over the ocean’s horizon. Levi pulls cured meat from one of the bags and cuts it into cubes, dropping it into a pot alongside potatoes and onions. He pours fresh water over everything and sets the pot over the fire to cook.

“You even got Hange to give you meat from the store room?” Erwin marvels.

“No, I bought it,” Levi responds simply. Without looking up from the pot, he notices the shocked expression on his companion’s face. “Don’t go Titan over it. I’ve been saving up.”

Erwin’s look settles into one of appreciation as they watch the stew cook. Once ready, Levi pulls bowls and spoons from one of the bags and serves them each a big portion. Erwin takes the offered bowl with a smile, brushing his fingers against Levi’s as he does. They eat in relative silence for a moment before Erwin speaks up again.

“This reminds me a little of some of our expeditions,” he says between spoonfuls. “Food cooked over an open fire like this always does.”

“I guess,” Levi says. “Except it’s a thousand times better. For one, we actually have meat.” He eats a piece for emphasis. “Oh, and no one’s dead.”

Erwin chuckles quietly and pours himself another bowl.

“Hey, save room for dessert,” Levi grouses, even as he pours himself another bowl as well.

The word ‘dessert’ immediately pricks up Erwin’s ears, and he finishes his second bowl quickly, clearly unable to contain his excitement. Levi favours him with a soft smile and attempts to tease by slowing his pace, eating carefully to draw out the wait, but Erwin’s pout has him bursting into laughter and rushing to finish his meal, too.

He reaches into the bag and pulls out a small box, packed with ice and opens it to reveal a small white cake, delicately decorated with whipped frosting and sprinkled with strawberry slices. Erwin’s mouth drops open at the sight, and he looks at Levi with wide eyes as the box is offered to him alongside a spoon.

“Levi… this can’t have been cheap… You’re really spoiling me here.”

“Spare me,” Levi says, poking him with his own spoon. “And anyway, I didn’t buy it. I made it. Now take a bite already.”

Erwin spoons a bite into his mouth and it immediately drops open in awe as the flavours hit his tongue. Levi scowls and smacks his chin with his spoon.

“Shut your mouth, blondie. I don’t want to see what’s in there unless it’s my dick.”

Erwin closes his mouth and finishes chewing the bite, his eyes wide.

“Levi… this is spectacular.” Erwin offers the box to Levi, who scoops a small bit with his own spoon and slips it into his mouth with a contented hum. “I never knew you could bake…”

“You never asked,” Levi replies simply, sneaking another spoonful before Erwin pulls the box back to him for a bite of his own. 

“Still, how long have we known each other now, and you’ve never said anything?”

Levi shrugs, licking frosting from his spoon.

“It never came up, so I never felt the need to say anything.”

Erwin laughs at that, a hearty ringing across the sand that sends Levi’s heart thundering in his chest.

“I feel like I’m going to be learning things about you for the rest of my life.”

“Let’s hope so…” Levi mutters as he reaches over for another bite of cake.

“By the way, Levi.” Erwin spoons a strawberry slice and holds it up in the light of the fire. “How did you get strawberries? They’re out of season this time of year.”

“There’s a valley in the south where they grow wild,” Levi says. “The climate down there is warm enough to support them year-round. I found them when we were eradicating the Pure Titans in that area.”

Erwin slips the strawberry slice into his mouth with a chuckle, shaking his head in incredulity. 

“I hope you never stop surprising me, Levi.”

The next morning is hot and humid by the time the sun is halfway along its climb to the highest point in the sky and Erwin is out in swim trunks before breakfast is done. Levi reluctantly pulls his own on, painfully aware of his pale skin feeling like it’s baking under the ruthless rays, despite the cream Onyankopon had brought, designed to protect skin from burns. He’d smeared it on as thickly as he could, wincing at the feel of it before he demanded Erwin put some on, too.

As he rubbed the cream into Erwin’s arms, he wondered, perhaps absurdly, if Titan shifters could even get sunburn. That and Erwin’s already somewhat tanned skin made the task feel a bit like a fool’s errand, but Levi wasn’t going to let go of an opportunity to place his hands on that toned body. Especially not after last night…

A row boat sits on the shore, and Levi takes the oars as Erwin pushes the small craft onto the water before jumping in. There’s a small island within just ten minutes’ row that apparently has some really interesting rock formations and shells and things, as well as a nice overlook of the sea. It sounds exactly like the kind of thing Erwin would enjoy, so Levi swallows his apprehension and rows them over, trying not to think about the way the waves rock the little boat along or how he lost sight of the bottom of the ocean floor a long time ago.

Erwin, meanwhile, is giddy with excitement, and it’s hard not to smile as he watches large-finned fish leap from the water in an unknowable sequence (are those what Nicolo called dolphins?), or how brightly-coloured fish swarmed around the boat as they left the shore. Levi insisted that they leave the notebooks and things behind, so Erwin can’t cross-reference anything he’s seeing, but he sees the man making constant mental notes as his ocean-blue eyes catalogue everything that crosses his view.

Arrival at the small off-shore island is a little more uncomfortable than Levi had been hoping for; there is no steady incline of ground leading to the island’s edge for him to settle the row boat against. Instead, Erwin hops out of the little boat and ties a rope around a tree to secure it in place and then helps Levi onto the rocky bluff. Levi looks behind him, as the waves shift the boat around on the rope like a dog on a leash and begs the world not to find a way to untie it whilst they walk and explore.

As predicted, Erwin loves this place. He finds vibrant flowers the likes of which they’ve never seen alongside scuttling crabs, bright red under the canopy of trees. The rocky shore is littered with discarded shells of hermit crabs and snails, and small tidal pools are full of bizarre creatures Levi can’t even begin to name. All of them mesmerise and entice Erwin’s gaze. Levi can’t help but love the look in the man’s eyes as he bends down to observe a sea star crawling on the rocks.

“Imagine!” Erwin says as he draws Levi’s attention to the creature. “Imagine if we’d never found out just how very big our world truly is. If we’d never dared to dream beyond the Walls… we’d never have known that these things were here.”

By mid-afternoon, the men sit on a part of the rocky bluff low enough to the water that they can put their feet into the salty surf. The ocean floor is still too far for Levi to see, especially with the waves distorting his vision, but he sits with his feet in the water and tries not to think about it.

“It’s so hot,” Erwin says, fanning himself with his hand. “Why don’t we go for a swim?”

Levi bristles at that, trying not to show the tension that immediately crawls into his shoulders.

“You can go swimming if you want,” he grouses, folding his arms. “Who knows what filthy shit is in the water? I don’t want to get any more of it on me than I have to.”

There’s a pause as Erwin pouts and then, suddenly, Levi is in the water and his eyes burn from the salt.

The ground. He needs the ground.

No, he needs air. Where is air?

Everything is suddenly confused as he struggles to understand what’s happening. Which way is up? Why is he in the water?

He kicks and kicks and feels his head surface and he tries to take a gasping breath but water fills his mouth as a wave rolls over him and he’s back under the surface again, choking on fluid in his lungs. The presence of the searing saltiness in his lungs makes him cough, bringing more water in and for the first time in a very long time, fear lights his blood on fire as his brain goes foggy. It stretches moments into hours of agony, his lungs filling with water in a never-ending struggle to dispel it.

As Levi’s consciousness starts to slip, a bulky arm hauls him to the surface. Instinct kicks in; he pushes and fights even as he coughs and gags on the water still in his lungs, in his mouth. This must be a Titan, one they forgot to take down. Or maybe they’re learning to swim. Or it’s Kenny, slipping into his room at night and holding a knife to his throat again, to teach him never to be off his guard, even when he’s sleeping.

But wait, isn’t Kenny dead? Is Levi?

Distantly, Levi hears a voice call out to him as he continues to struggle.

“Levi! Relax! It’s me. I’ve got you.”

Whether he trusts the voice or his strength gives out, Levi doesn’t know, but he goes limp in the arm that manuevers him onto his back and hooks under his armpits. He has a distant sense of being hauled up as the last of his consciousness fades.

How long he’s out for, Levi can’t say, but he’s thrust back into the waking world by a pounding on his chest and water spilling painfully out of his mouth. He rolls to his side as he expels the fluid in his lungs followed by the contents of his stomach. He feels Erwin’s hand, large and comforting, on his back, and slowly, his hearing returns, and he hears quiet coaxing.

“That’s right, Levi. There you go, get it out. I’m right here. You’re okay.”

When nothing is left but dry heaving and a throat left raw, Erwin guides Levi to sit up and hands him their canteen. The last thing Levi wants to do right now is put water in his mouth, but the burning in his throat tells him he needs it, so he accepts it and takes halting sips.

“Levi, I’m so sorry. Are you alright?” Erwin shifts dark hair away from silvered eyes, looking deeply into them.

“What? Yeah…” Levi’s voice sounds like a gravel road run over by shoddy carriage wheels. “Why the hell are you apologizing?”

“I… It was my fault,” Erwin’s eyes are practically full of tears. “I thought you were just being grumpy, you know? When you said you didn’t want to go swimming. I was feeling playful and… well, I pushed you in.”

Levi levels a look at Erwin as he tries to comprehend what he’s saying. The look on his face must look more angry than he intends because Erwin continues rambling his apologies.

“I didn’t mean anything by it, Levi, I swear. I just thought it would be fun, you know? We could swim together and then I saw you struggling and I realized you were drowning and…”

“Look, it’s fine,” Levi huffs. He can’t stay mad at Erwin anyway, even if he was angry about it in the first place. “I’m still alive, you pulled me out. It’s fine.”

He waves his hand in the air for emphasis and takes another sip from the canteen.

“I didn’t know you can’t swim,” Erwin says with an air of finality that smacks Levi in the chest at least as hard as the CPR that had forced the water from his lungs.

“Yeah, well…” Levi sighs through his nose, feeling his cheeks flare pink. “I didn’t exactly have a lot of opportunities to learn, growing up.”

“Right…”

They sit in silence for a long while before Erwin offers to row them back to the main shore. He helps Levi onto the boat and then unties the line and steps in. Levi feels his body tense as the boat rocks with the shift in occupancy. Erwin mercifully waits for the boat to steady before he starts to row the boat back to shore.

Once back on the beach, Levi immediately sets to lighting a fire. It’s true that there’s another couple of hours of daylight left, but if experience has taught him anything, it’s that it’s better to light a fire earlier than later. When it’s lit, he sets to drying off and changing, cringing at the feeling of salt sticking to his skin. He can’t wait to have a shower in clean, fresh water again.

He joins Erwin, changed and tending to the fire, and sits next to him. Slowly, he leans his head against Erwin’s thick arm and isn’t surprised when the arm shifts to wrap around him instead, so that Levi can smell the musk of him wafting through his shirt.

“I should have told you I can’t swim,” Levi says after a long silence. “I’m sorry.”

He senses Erwin shake his head with a light hum. 

“I’m just glad I was able to get you out safely.”

“You know… growing up, I never even imagined there was such a thing as a lake or a river, let alone something as big as the sea,” Levi continues. He isn’t sure what suddenly has him so talkative, but he feels the need to talk. To explain this odd inadequacy about himself. “The most water I ever saw down there… you know, it was rancid little puddles in the street or in a cup or in the bath house. But even there, the water was barely to my calves, and you didn’t want to stick around in those places, especially when I was a teenager.”

Erwin listens quietly, in that way only he can; that way that Levi knows this information will be burned forever into the other man’s memory, catalogued and stored for future reference.

“Anyway, when you said that you hope you never stop learning things about me, I don’t think this is what you meant. Or… maybe not the way you’d hoped to be learning something new about me.”

That makes Erwin chuckle lightly, and relief washes over Levi, releasing tension in his shoulders he didn’t realize had been building.

“Like I said, I’m just glad you’re safe. Although you did give me a good punch to the jaw as I was trying to get you out.”

“Payback for pushing me in.” Levi chuckles. “Probably gave you a few grey hairs, too.”

“Oh, I hope not,” Erwin says. “I need to keep up my boyish good looks for a little longer.”

At that, Levi pushes Erwin down onto the sand and straddles his broad stomach, looking down at him with an appraising air. He ignores the flush in the blonde’s face in the firelight as he settles his ass on the hard muscles of Erwin’s abs.

“Hmm, I don’t know…” Levi teases. “You’ve stopped slicking back your hair and started to get stubbly. I’m thinking you look more like the homeless vagrant the Survey Corps keeps around as a pet rather than the boyishly charming Erwin Smith.”

Erwin pouts and runs a hand along the stubble.

“I thought you liked the new look. Said it was less ‘Sucking up to fat Mitras Nobles’ and more ‘Isn’t taking people’s shit anymore.’”

Levi laughs and seizes Erwin’s lips in a kiss that – mercifully – does not taste like the sea. He’ll never get tired of exploring Erwin’s mouth with his tongue, or their breath hot on each’s skin as they press lips to jawlines, collarbones, and elsewhere. Levi pulls away, panting quietly, and smiles.

“I love the look, Erwin, you know that.” He leans in for another kiss, whispering against his lips. “Happy birthday.”

Doesn’t know if he should make Armin or Zeke the best man, so he flips a coin to decide. It landed on Armin, and from that day on, Zeke was super salty.

Tries to convince you to try on the wedding dress/suit the day before. He can’t sleep that night because he’s so keyed up thinking about how pretty you’ll look.

On the day of the wedding, he’s super fucking ecstatic and practically bouncing all over the place.

Jean literally nit-picks everything Eren does the whole night....which almost ends up resulting in a drunken bar fight...at your wedding. It ends up fine, though, because Levi and Mikasa step in as bodyguards.

He does alright slow-dancing, but is so tipsy and distracted by how attractive you are to him, he’s kinda just....trying his best.

His wedding gift to you is a giant portrait he drew of you--and on the back, there’s a message in French. He won’t tell you what it says, but you’re pretty sure it’s an oath to love and protect you ‘till the day he dies.

He does pretty well slow-dancing. His mom also mentions he begged her to practice with him so he didn’t mess up.

He’s a little worried about making himself look like a fool dancing in front of you--but for you, he does it anyways; You both laugh your asses off and have a lot of fun.

When you walk down the isle and he makes eye contact with you--his brain short-circuits. His mind literally stops working and is constantly repeating, “p...p...pre....pretty..” the whole damn time.

Mentally saves the image of you in your dress/suit to use as his motivation to always come home to you.

Tries to remain expressionless, but is literally tomato-red and on the verge of crying; he never thought he’d be able to find happiness--it feels like everything is finally going to be okay. Erwin is smiling like a proud dad, and Hange is trying to suppress their amazement that the dude’s showing emotion.

Your wedding rings are fairly plain--but on the inside of the bands, both of your names are etched.

He won’t read the vows out loud, he simply hands you a letter and tells you to read it another time.

When the time comes to kiss--Levi literally hides behind you and shyly pulls you in. The view the audience gets is your back--and they aren’t sure whether to clap or not.

Your wedding gift to him was a giant assortment of different teas--and he genuinely seemed really excited to try them. He didn’t realize it, but when he mentioned tasting them, he said, “with you” at the end.

Has no idea how to slow dance. Erwin tried to help him, but it didn’t do much, so you teach him on the spot. Your first dance, he concentrates really hard on not messing up, eyebrows furrowed and all.

Doesn’t know how to dance fast-pace either, in fact, he’s pretty confused. You have to grab the man and force him out of his comfort zone, spinning him and all. Hange and the Survey Corp members are laughing their ass off at his bewildered face.

The speeches went pretty well--except for when Hange didn’t stop talking; Levi threatened to force them off the stage, and you don’t think he was joking.

The wedding was fairly short--but only because Levi rushed everyone home; he just wanted to drag you off and keep you to himself for the rest of the day.

After the wedding, he takes you to a spot nearby to watch the sunset. He has a soft smile, and you can tell he’s genuinely happy.

You take HIM back to the hotel--he would’ve been fine staying there just a little longer, in the peace of it all.

It's interesting how Armin's character was built and I don't think people notice that very much. I have a few points about him that I wanted to share.

We see him very young being bullied for most likely his appearance and behavior. From a very young age his self esteem was damaged. Besides that, he was always very intelectual and well spoken, we all know those kind of kids get super picked on because they don't really fit with the majority.

He probably has a lot of abandonment issues because of his parents. We don't know much about them, but a child will always question why they were left behind even if it was for a "good cause". Besides, his parents died because they wanted to explore the world and I think Armin would feel even more betrayed by that.

Meeting Eren and Mikasa doesn't mean he was instantly safe from the bullying. Even if he was protected, the damage is already done. Eren and Mikasa helped him a lot, but healing self esteem problems is complicated and children don't know how to do that. Besides, Armin would feel like a burden to his friends and try to offer something in return.

This entire situation set Armin up to rely on his words and brain to defend him and his friends. He wasn't born a manipulator and he doesn't manipulate for his own pleasure. He turns into a manipulator as a defense mechanism because he doesn't trust his strength (even after becoming a soldier or inheriting the Colossal Titan). When he has to kill or manipulate people we can see it's not a pleasant thing for him.

His morals are twisted by the environment he's inserted. He isn't a good and perfect angel, but also not an evil mastermind. He cares about his loved ones and will do anything for them, including mass murdering an entire army and ships. Does he like killing massive amounts of people? No. But he does it anyway. At the same time he sacrifices his best friend so humanity outside paradis can keep existing. There are many other situations that Armin has conflicting morals and I find it so human and relatable.

The leadership role he is sometimes given is not conventional. He can be a good leader, but he's never the in the front line when it comes to actually leading (remember that Armin is a brain and words person, but does not have an imposing figure nor does he radiates confidence). The ones close to him know he's a good strategist (Erwin himself told him so) but the outside people won't see him like that. Without the shield of Erwin, Hange and his friends he has a hard time being heard and this must mess with his head a lot.

When Eren goes completely brain damaged on season 4 we see an interesting side of Armin. He is stressed 24/7 and also exhausted. At this point he is conflicted between helping, stoping and understanding Eren. Also, he is also watching Mikasa's pain and sorrow over Eren's behavior. They used to be a trio with established roles between them and now everything is a mess and he feels useless and helpless. We see Armin snap at the table scene. Pure rage is NOT something we have ever seen on him before. Suddenly he goes for the violent option when he is all about words and calculated actions. Can you imagine how much built up anger he had to just burst in blind rage like that?

In paths we can see how vulnerable he is. When he screams at his own self laying on the ground. He is screaming and telling horrible things about himself. It felt like he was always waiting to breakdown and finally he couldn't wait anymore. He seems like a very "suffer in silence" guy. Sometimes he might even tell how he feels but mostly will keep it to himself.

In the end, when he is about to confront Eren, he is determined but also a mess. He puts on Mikasa all his trust. He really is trusting her ability to finish this nightmare of the rumbling despite her very painfull and damaged feelings. He knows Eren is gonna die, knows that Mikasa will have to do it and also knows he has to get the blame. It takes so much to know all of this and not hesitate for a moment.

Overall, I think Armin is a very complicated character (almost all aot characters are complicated). He has a special place in my heart and sometimes I would like to chat with Isayama about him.

Hi! Sorry in advance for this long request. I was wondering if I could request a story where levi and reader have been in a relationship for over a year. Reader is also a squad leader in the scouts. She finds out that she’s pregnant and is so happy about the news and goes to tell levi excitedly. However, once levi finds out he isn’t as happy as the reader hoped he would be. He doesn’t think he deserves to have a child given his rough upbringing (never met his father, kenny raised him to be a killer, etc) and especially doesn’t want to bring a child into a world filled with titans where survival is always questionable. Levi tells reader to get rid of the child but she fights back and tells him of the future they could have together: having a big family and a beautiful house, etc. Things spiral out of control and a huge argument leads to them breaking up. They grow distant over the coming weeks and begin avoiding each other. One night reader tries to reach out to levi again but he is still adamant about his choice. The next day reader goes to erwin and resigns from the scouts without telling levi and moves away to a small village to raise the child. A year or so passes and the reader has given birth and has been raising the child on her own until one day titans break the wall and start attacking her village. The scouts urgently rush to the village (unbeknownst that the reader and child is there) and quickly eliminate the titans. In the end, one of levis squad members sees the reader being rushed to the infirmary (critical condition but alive) with the child beside her. When levi hears of this, he rushes after her to find her awake and now safe with a child that looks so much like him. They make up and levi decides to be there for both reader and the child and do right by them by trying to be the best father he could think of. (Sorry again for the super long request. Kinda got lost in my thoughts. Love your writing!!)

‘I have to train my cadets’, you smiled at Levi, ‘And you need to go over some of those reports’. You pointed at the files that were neatly stacked on his desk. Levi rolled his eyes, ‘Tch, I guess you’re right. I’ll never hear the end of it if I don’t read those reports by tonight’. Levi sat down behind his desk, looking at the reports in front of him. ‘Hange will kill you’, you smirked at your boyfriend, ‘She’s been dying to discuss Eren’s progress with you’. Levi sighed in response, ‘Ai, Hange’s been driving me crazy. She walked up to me when I was taking a piss. She didn’t even notice, talking about those damn Titans’, Levi looked up at you with his cold stare. 

You giggled. You knew how Hange could be. She was a bit intrusive, but that’s who she was. She was passionate, and not afraid to express herself. You’d always admired her for that. 

‘I need to go, my cadets are probably waiting’, you headed over to Levi’s desk, leaning over it to give him a quick kiss, ‘Love you’. ‘Love you too’, Levi replied softly while browsing through the reports. 

The two of you started dating a little over a year ago, but he didn’t say stuff like that until recently. You did though, all the time, but you knew him. Levi always had a hard time opening up and showing his vulnerable side. You never minded it, he showed that he loved you in many other ways, but still… When Levi told you he loved you for the first time, you were happier than ever. 

Levi woke up in the middle of the night, calling out your name. He had a nightmare where you died. When you explained to him that you were fine, that it was all just a dream, he told you how afraid he was to lose you, how much you meant to him and how much he loved you. It melted your heart when you heard him say it. His voice was still rough, his face nestled between your shoulders and neck, holding you tightly. You’ll never forget that moment.

‘Go on, keep running’, you smiled at Connie, ‘If you’re going to talk back, you need to face the consequences, like the man you are’, you smirked at him. 

You suddenly felt nauseous, everything started to spin. Without any warning, you quickly turned around, throwing up on the ground. 

‘H-huh?’, you could hear one of your cadets running towards you, ‘A-are you alright?’. ‘Y-yeah, I’m fine Armin, thank you’, you wiped your mouth with the back of your hand. You could feel your cadets looking at you, ‘Keep running everyone, I’m fine’, you swung with your arm behind you. ‘Armin, I’m not feeling well. I’m going to Hange, I’ll ask her to take over for me. In the meantime, make sure Yeager and Jean don’t kill each other’. You could hear them bickering behind you.

‘Y/N?’, you could hear Levi grunting out your name, ‘A-are you alright?’. You were hovering over the toilet in the bathroom that was attached to the room you shared with Levi. ‘I-I’m fine, I’m just sick’, you said before throwing up again. You could hear Levi’s footsteps approaching, ‘N-no please’, you held out your arm, signaling him to stay away, ‘I want to be alone right now’. ‘I’m taking you to a doctor’, Levi’s voice sounded worried. You’d been throwing up all week, you didn’t know what was going on. ‘N-no Levi, it’s just a –‘, ‘You’re throwing up, again. We’re going, whether you like it or not’. 

You didn’t try to change his mind. Whenever Levi had made his decision, it was futile to try and change it. After you got dressed, Levi helped you in the carriage, taking you to the city to see a doctor. 

‘I want to go alone’, you looked at Levi, who was already getting out of the carriage. ‘Why?’, he tilted his head. ‘I just want to go alone, I’m fine, really’, you hopped out of the carriage, ‘See? I’m fine’, you smiled. ‘Tch, I’ll wait here’. You could see he wasn’t happy, but you had the feeling you knew what was ‘wrong’ with you. You skipped your period, you had to throw up all the time, you felt these cramps in your abdomen, … You’d be lying if you said that it didn’t cross your mind.

You were pacing around in the cafeteria, unsure what to do. You couldn’t sleep, you couldn’t lay down next to Levi without breaking the news to him. You were happy, and excited, but you wanted to tell Levi tomorrow, after you had the chance to think about it. To let it all sink in. You were going to be a mother, Levi was going to be a father… You’d always wanted this, and even if the timing was a bit off, you were so grateful for this. 

‘Levi?’, you slowly entered the room, the first rays of the sun were shining through the bedroom window. You’d stayed up all night, thinking about how to tell him. You decided to just go for it and tell him without hesitating. You were nervous, to say the least. ‘What’s wrong kid? You’ve been gone the whole night. You know I can’t sleep well when you’re not with me’, he slowly sat up, looking out of the window. ‘I’m sorry’, you carefully sat down next to him, ‘but I have to tell you something’. ‘What?’, Levi looked at you with his cold gaze, ‘Haven’t seen you smile like that in a long time’. You chuckled, ‘That’s because I’ve never been happier’, ‘I know, it must be great to have such an amazing boyfrie-‘, ‘Oh stop it!’, you softly pushed him, ‘I’m serious Levi, I need to tell you something’. ‘What?’, he frowned. ‘I’m pregnant’, you smiled at him, ‘We’re going to have a baby’, you sat down on his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck, ‘You’re going to be a dad’. ‘What?’, his voice sounded rough, eyes locked on yours. You desperately looked for any form of happiness on his face, but all you could see was a cold stare. ‘I-I’m pregnant’, you whispered while placing yourself next to him. 

For a couple of minutes, there was complete silence. Your heart was shattered when you noticed how Levi didn’t share the same happiness as you. You knew he would be surprised, but you never expected him to react like this. 

‘Are you going to keep it?’, Levi didn’t look at you. ‘What?’, you looked at him, a lump started to form in your throat. ‘Are you going to keep it?’, he repeated himself, still not looking at you. ‘Of course!’, you quickly replied, ‘Why would I get rid of it?’, it was getting harder not to cry. ‘Tch’, Levi gritted his teeth while getting out of bed, ‘Because I can’t be a dad Y/N, I just can’t’, he finally looked at you. ‘I don’t know how to, I never had one. You know I’m not cut out to be a father’. You didn’t respond, all you could feel was an overwhelming sensation of sadness, making it hard for you to breathe. You were frozen on the bed, just looking at your boyfriend yelling at you. 

‘I-I don’t deserve this, I don’t deserve that kind of life. Everyone that has ever gotten close to me, they all..’, Levi looked at the ground, balling his fists, ‘And in this world… How can we raise a child in this cruel world?’. You could hear his voice break. 

Normally, you wanted to comfort him whenever that happened but now… Well, you didn’t know what you felt, but you were angry and sad at the same time. You felt disappointed, but could you blame him? How could you expect him to be happy? You knew he never wanted this, but still… You thought that whenever you would get pregnant, he would be happy. 

‘I won’t raise a kid in this cruel world, Y/N, I just won’t. I don’t want to worry if my kid will be the next meal of a filthy titan. I don’t want them to grow up behind these damn walls!, ‘What do you want?’, you said quietly, your voice never sounded so fragile. ‘I want you to get rid of it’, he whispered. 

You couldn’t believe that Levi would say something like that. You just couldn’t. 

‘You’re only thinking about the bad things, you always do!’, you got out of bed, arms firmly wrapped around your stomach. ‘We can leave the scouts, get a nice home. We can have a family Levi’, you sobbed, ‘We can have a nice, peaceful life. Just us, our kids…’. ‘Kids?’, Levi placed his hands in his hair, ‘Fuck Y/N! You’re already thinking about more when I just told you that I don’t want kids?’. ‘Don’t you have any empathy? This is also your child, you know that right?’, you walked over to him, ‘It’s not like I did this by myself!’. ‘You’re not keeping it, end of discussion’, Levi lowered his voice, eyes fixed on yours. ‘That’s not your decision. This is my body, I’m not killing our fucking child!’, you pushed him. 

Levi didn’t react, instead, he kept looking at you with his cold gaze. ‘I can’t believe you’re acting like this. I thought you would be happy… But you’re just an emotionless piece of shit! I thought you were different, I thought you cared about me… but you would never say such things if you did’. 

You looked at the man in front of you. Suddenly, he felt like a stranger. His crescent moon eyes didn’t seem as beautiful as they once did, they felt cold. 

‘Say something!’, you pushed him again, causing him to take a step backward. Again, no response. ‘You’re a fucking coward. There’s no love inside that cold heart of yours. I was wrong to think that there was…’, you walked closer to him, ‘You truly are a monster’. ‘Enough’, Levi looked at the ground, ‘You’re calling me cold, heartless… But what about you? How can you be so selfish? How can you give birth to a child in a world like this? In a world where we're just meals for fucking Titans. In a world where no one can promise us a tomorrow. Look around you Y/N!’, Levi grabbed your arm, ‘How many of your cadets have died? How heartbroken were you? Can you imagine what their parents must’ve felt like?’, he waited for an answer, but you didn’t give him one. ‘Tch, you’re even agreeing with me…’, Levi let go of your arm, ‘You’re the cold and heartless one. You have no right to give birth to a child in this wo-‘, ‘Fuck you Levi’, you gritted through your teeth, ‘You are a piece of shit’, you turned around, walking towards the door. ‘I don’t want you near me ever again. You didn’t want this, us…’, you placed a hand on your stomach, looking at it. 

You thought Levi would stop you, or at least try… but he didn’t. 

‘You’re right Y/N, I never wanted that child, and I’ll never will’, he said barely loud enough for you to hear him. ‘Then you don’t want me either’, you whispered, hand already placed on the doorknob. ‘Ai, I guess so’, Levi sat back down on the bed, back facing towards you. ‘Fine’, you chuckled with tears in your eyes, ‘You’re going to die alone, you know that right? With not one person that cares about you. You’re just a miserable prick, wallowing in self-pity… I never thought you were a coward Levi, but you’ve proven me wrong today’. 

And at that moment you truly did. You hated him, more than you could ever hate anyone. How could he act like this? He didn’t even try to talk about it… He made his decision from the moment you told him.

‘Oi Y/N’, Hange sat down next to you. You were sitting on the ground, sipping from your tea, while you watched your cadets train. ‘Hm?’, you looked at her. 

Her ponytail seemed a little messier than usual, indicating that she’d been experimenting with Eren. She always started to pull on her hair when she got excited, causing you to smile every time. 

‘I haven’t seen you with Levi in quite some time’, Hange looked at you, ‘Is everything alright? He seems even more distant than usual…’, she scratched the back of her head. 

You hadn't told anyone other than Levi that you were pregnant. At first, when you thought Levi would be happy, you couldn’t wait to tell Hange, Erwin, your cadets,… But now, after everything, you just couldn’t.

You looked back at your cadets, letting out a deep sigh, ‘No, we’ve broken up’. ‘What?!’, Hange’s eyes widened, ‘B-but Levi… He would never get into a relationship if he didn’t think it would last…’. You closed your eyes. You missed Levi. You missed his scent, his voice, his touch,… 

For the past few weeks, you’d been avoiding each other. Making sure you weren’t in the same room together. Even when Erwin held a meeting, Levi never showed up. Since Erwin didn’t mention it, you were sure Levi told Erwin that you weren’t together anymore. Still, you knew Levi told no one you were pregnant, otherwise, Erwin or Hange would’ve asked you about it. 

‘Hange, Erwin needs you’, you widened your eyes, heart beating fast. It was Levi’s voice. For the first time in weeks, you heard his soft voice.

You wanted to smile, to be happy, because you missed his voice more than anything, but you couldn’t. There was no reason for you to smile. You kept your gaze locked on your cadets. 

‘H-huh?’, Hange looked up to the Captain. Levi was staring at you, you could feel it. ‘A-ai, I’ll go’, Hange got up without saying anything. Levi didn’t move, you could feel his eyes burning in the back of your head. ‘What?’, you whispered, ‘You’ve been avoiding me for weeks, no need to stare at me now’. 

You thought he would respond, that he would say something, even if it was just his familiar ‘tch’, but he didn’t. You could hear his footsteps disappearing in the distance. It all seemed so easy for him. It felt like he didn’t care, like he didn’t miss you at all. 

‘Levi’, you yelled without thinking, without knowing why. You noticed you were suddenly standing, looking at Levi walking away. Levi stopped, he looked over his shoulder at you, ‘What?’. His voice sounded rough, unfamiliar. You widened your eyes, your nails were digging into the soft skin of your hands.

You could see Levi felt more tired than usual. The bags underneath his eyes revealed the lack of sleep, just like his voice revealed his sadness. You could see he missed you too.

‘C-can we talk tonight?’, you desperately asked. Levi shrugged his shoulders, but you could see he was relieved you’d asked. ‘Ai, I’ll see you after dinner’, and just like that Levi started walking again.

You slowly knocked on the door of his office. Unsure of what you were going to say, you’d hope Levi would start the conversation. A part of you thought he’d maybe changed his mind. 

‘Who is it?’, ‘It’s me’, you softly replied while slowly opening his door. ‘Oh Y/N’, his crescent-shaped eyes were hanging low, ‘Sit down, please’, he gestured to the chair that was standing in front of his desk. ‘I don’t want to sit down’, you chuckled, ‘I’m not one of the cadets, I’m not a stranger Levi’. 

You didn’t know why it was already hard to talk. You told yourself over and over again that you weren’t going to cry, but seeing how Levi treated you, it made you feel like you were nothing. 

‘I never said you were a stranger’, his eyes finally met yours. You hated yourself for looking so weak and fragile. You knew Levi would see the pain in your eyes. You didn’t want that, you wanted to look strong, to show him you didn’t need him. ‘You’ve been treating me like one over the past few weeks’, a tear streamed down your cheek. ‘Please stop crying’, Levi got up from his desk and walked towards you, softly wiping the tear from your cheek. His touch made you shiver, you wanted more. You wanted everything to go back to the way it was. ‘Have you thought about it?’, you softly asked, eyes fixed on the ground, arms placed firmly around your stomach. Levi sighed, ‘Y/N I don’t know what to tell you… I miss you, I want you to be by my side again but…’. You chuckled, ‘You want me to get rid of our child, right?’, you took a step back. ‘You’re selfish for raising a child in this cruel world’, his voice broke through your little bubble of hope. ‘You haven’t changed your mind at all, have you?’, you said calmly. There was no point in yelling, no point in arguing. You made up your mind as well. Levi shook his head. 

A minute passed. The two of you were just standing there, unable to look at each other. You let your eyes wander over the man you loved. You carefully took in every detail. The way his eyes were hanging low, the way his hands were hanging next to his body, the way his hair looked messy for once. A sad smile appeared on your face. 

You carefully walked up to him, placing a soft kiss on his cheek, ‘It’s fine, you don’t have to feel bad. I know you do. You made your decision, but I made mine as well. I hope you’ll find happiness Levi, I really do’, you could hear your voice break. Without a warning you threw your arms around him, ‘I don’t know why you made this decision, why you decide to throw away this happiness… But I don’t blame you’, you sobbed into his shoulder. Hoping you’d remember this feeling, the feeling of his arms around your waist, his scent, … ‘I’ll see you around’, you whispered, before pulling away and walking out the door. You knew Levi wouldn’t respond, so you didn’t wait for one. 

You didn’t sleep that night. You were too busy getting all your stuff into a suitcase. Even though you didn’t have much, the weight of the memories on your belongings made it hard for you to put them in that suitcase. 

‘Erwin?’, you knocked on the Commander's door. ‘Ai, come in’, his voice sounded stern, like always. ‘I want to talk to you about something’, you kept standing in front of the door. ‘What’s wrong?’, Erwin walked towards you. ‘I’m leaving’, you looked at your Commander, your friend. ‘Leaving?’, Erwin frowned, ‘Ai, I’m resigning’. Erwin carefully grabbed both of your shoulders, ‘Y/N, I know your breakup with Levi must be tough, but you can’t le-‘, ‘I’m pregnant’, you interrupted him. Erwin widened his eyes, ‘From Levi?’, ‘Of course’, you chuckled, ‘B-but he doesn’t want the same’, you gritted your teeth. Erwin let out a deep sigh, ‘I’m sorry Y/N’, he pulled you close to him, ‘I hope you find your happiness elsewhere, you deserve it’. 

You’d known Erwin for so long now. He’d seen you cry many times, but he never hugged you, not once. It caught you off guard, but it felt good to finally have some comfort, to finally tell someone. 

‘Please, don’t tell anyone’, you sobbed, ‘I’m leaving tonight, I don’t want anyone to know’. ‘I won’t’, Erwin slowly let go of you, ‘Promise me you’ll take good care of yourself’.

‘Oi’, you quickly called your cadets to you after dinner. The sun was setting, your stuff was already sitting in a carriage. ‘What’s wrong Y/N?’, Sasha looked at you. 

This was the hardest part. Saying goodbye to your cadets. They were like your children, you loved every single one of them. 

‘I’m leaving’, you softly said. ‘W-what?!’, Jean immediately stepped up to you, ‘You can’t, we need you!’. ‘I don’t have a choice’, you looked at your cadets, you could see how surprised they were. ‘You always have one!’, Connie yelled. You smiled at their innocence, ‘I can’t raise a kid here, can I?’. ‘Y-you’re pregnant?’, Sasha looked at your stomach, you nodded. ‘W-what about Levi?’, Jean looked at the ground. ‘Levi’s staying here, you’ll be joining his squad. He’ll make sure nothing will happen to you’, you said sadly. 

You made Erwin promise that your cadets joined Levi’s squad and that Levi would take care of them. You’d never forgive yourself if anything happened to one of your cadets. 

‘I’ll miss you’, once again a lump had formed in your throat, ‘I need to go now, promise me you’ll be safe, I’ll never forgive myself if anything happened to one of you’.

Later that evening, Levi could hear one of your cadets talk about how they would miss you.

‘Miss her?’, Levi tilted his head, looking at Jean. ‘C-captain!’, Jean quickly saluted him, ‘What do you mean, you’re going to miss her?’. Jean looked confused at the Captain, ‘H-haven’t you heard? B-but she said we’ll be joining your squad and-‘, ‘What?’, Levi widened his eyes. ‘S-she left Captain, because she was pregnant. I-I thought you knew-‘, ‘Tch’, Levi balled his fists, ‘Where did she go?’. ‘No one knows’, Connie interrupted, ‘We’ve asked her, but she didn’t want to tell us’. 

How could you leave without telling him? Without saying goodbye? Levi was angry, but more than that, he was sad. Without replying to the cadets, Levi turned around, immediately heading towards Erwin’s office. 

Without knocking, Levi opened the Commander’s door, ‘Where did she go?’. Erwin was looking at Levi with his hands intertwined, lips resting against them. ‘I don’t know Levi’, ‘Don’t lie to me!’, Levi’s voice broke, ‘I know she told you, she always tells you shit like that. She always trusted you…’. ‘Levi, I don’t know’, Erwin said sternly, ‘B-but-‘, Levi could feel himself breaking down. The thought of never seeing you again made him nauseous, he needed you. ‘I’m sorry Levi’, Erwin sighed, ‘Everyone’s going to miss her’. ‘Tch’, Levi gritted his teeth, ‘You should’ve stopped he-‘, ‘No’, Erwin interrupted Levi, ‘You should’ve taken responsibility. I know you’re a complicated man, but don’t tell me that I should’ve stopped her when you’re the one that-‘, Erwin closed his eyes.

Erwin knew he shouldn’t say all those things, but he was mad at his friend. How could Levi act the way he did? To tell you to get rid of the child you both were responsible for?

Erwin quickly found his composure again, ‘She’ll be fine Levi’. ‘Did Hange knew?’, Levi looked with his cold gaze at Erwin, ‘Ai, we said our goodbyes this evening’. ‘So everyone knew, except for me?’, Levi raised his voice, ‘I’m afraid so’, Erwin stood up, ‘She made me promise you took care of her cadets’. Levi could feel his heart break, tears streaming down his face, ‘I know that you think I’m a coward, a monster even… But how can she raise a child in this cruel world Erwin? Don’t you think that’s selfish?’, ‘I think it’s brave’, Erwin smiled at his friend, ‘I don’t think you’re a monster Levi, I think you’re afraid’.

A year passed. You’d been living a quiet, peaceful life in a small village near the wall. After giving birth to a healthy, beautiful girl, you’d been raising her on your own. It wasn’t easy, but you managed. Not a day went by that you didn’t think of her father, of the scouts, Erwin, Hange,… You missed them. You missed the excitement, your cadets, you missed everything, but this is the life you needed to live now.

‘Amara’, you sighed, quickly grabbing the flower she was stuffing in her mouth, ‘You can’t eat something like this’. You picked her up from the ground, taking her back inside. ‘If you’re hungry, you can just tell me’, you smiled at her blue eyes. Her eyes were just the same as Levi’s. She had the same crescent-shaped blue eyes, you wished Levi could see her. 

‘H-huh?’, you could hear a loud noise from outside, quickly followed by people screaming in fear. You looked out the window, adrenaline immediately pumping through your veins.

You never thought this would happen again, you never imagined something like this. You started to panic. You couldn’t defend yourself, you had no gear, no weapons. You knew the Corps would arrive quickly, but there wasn’t enough time to wait. Your house was too close to the wall, and on top of that, people were panicking, running across the streets,… 

Another loud noise filled the air, your eyes widened in fear when you could see people getting crushed underneath the rocks that flew from the wall. ‘There’s no time’, you whispered to yourself. You could hear Amara crying in fear, you held her as close to you as you possibly could, ‘It’s alright, I’ll keep you safe’, you whispered to her, placing a kiss on her forehead before running outside. 

There were Titans everywhere, the screams of people being torn apart, the cries of the children calling out for their mom or dad, it made you sick.  

‘Where do we even run to’, you were panicking, you couldn’t help it. You used to be so calm, so rational before you had her, but now… Fear was crippling your mind. ‘Calm down’, you whispered to yourself, tightening your grip around Amara, holding her head in the space between your shoulder and neck. You didn’t want her to see this. ‘Levi was right, this world is cruel’, you could feel tears streaming down your cheek, ‘but that doesn’t mean I’ll let you grow up in fear Amara, I won’t’. You started running away from the hole in the wall.

‘Armin’, Levi’s squad was approaching the village, ‘You, Eren, and Mikasa, take care of the Titans outside the wall. The others will arrive shortly. ‘Ai, Captain!’, they quickly separated themselves from the others. ‘The rest of us will kill the ones inside the wall until the rest of the Corps arrives. I don’t want any casualties, understood?’. 

It didn’t take long for them to kill most of the Titans.

Jean was standing on a rooftop with Sasha, ‘S-so many people and th-they’re all dead’, Jean was holding his blades, closing his eyes. ‘H-huh’, Sasha ran towards the end of the rooftop, ‘Jean!’, she pointed towards the ground. ‘What?’, Jean walked towards her. ‘T-that’s Y/N!’, Sasha immediately launched herself towards you, as did Jean. 

‘Y/N!’, Sasha cried out your name. ‘You know her?’, one of the people that was sitting next to you on the carriage asked Sasha. ‘Ai’, Jean replied, ’That’s our former squad leader’. He widened his eyes, even when you were losing so much blood, even when you were barely conscious, he could see you holding your child close to you.  ‘She doesn’t want to give her to us’, one of the girls sitting next to you looked at Jean. 

‘J-jean? Sasha?’, you grunted out, ‘A-are you really here or am I..’, ‘We’re here!’, Sasha quickly sat down next to you, holding your hand, ‘You’re going to be fine’. ‘Pl-please’, you looked at Amara, ‘Take her, keep her safe’. ‘B-but-‘, Sasha protested. ‘Please’, you looked at Sasha, ‘I know you can keep her safe, you did it before, remember the girl you saved?’, you coughed up some blood, ‘I-I don’t know if I’m going to-‘, you could feel tears streaming down your cheek, ‘Tell Levi that he needs to look out for her, please, her name’s Amara..’, you begged Sasha. Jean was trying not to cry, he always remembered you as being so strong. 

Your cadets never saw you cry before, not even when Annie killed most of your squad. 

‘I’ll keep her safe’, Sasha carefully took Amara from you. You could hear Amara crying out, calling out for you. ‘Y/N’, Jean was shaking, he could see you closing your eyes when Sasha took Amara from you. ‘Jean, we need to go to the Captain’, Sasha looked determined. ‘But there are still some Titans-‘, ‘Jean, I won’t let anything happen to her, we need to go to the Captain, now!’, Sasha launched herself in the air. Jean looked at you once more. ‘We’ll make sure she makes it’, the girl next to you smiled at Jean.

‘Captain!’, Sasha could see him standing on a rooftop, ‘Y/N! She’s here we-‘, ‘What?’, Levi immediately turned around to look at Sasha, widening his eyes in surprise, not even noticing the child Sasha was holding, ‘I-is she safe?’. ‘She’s being rushed to the infirmary’, Jean landed on the rooftop, ‘It didn’t look good Captain’, Jean closed his eyes. Suddenly, Levi could hear a child crying, calling out for her mom. ‘Ssh’, Sasha held the child closer. Levi looked at the girl that Sasha was holding. Sasha looked at the Captain with a certain determination in her eyes, ‘She made me promise I would keep her safe… That you would look out for Amara if she didn’t make –‘. ‘She’ll make it’, Levi interrupted Sasha, ‘I know she will’. ‘Here’, Sasha whispered while handing over Amara to Levi. ‘N-no I don’t know what to d-‘. ‘B-but she’s your daughter’, Sasha yelled at the Captain, ‘You need to take care of her! I promised Y/N you would!’, Sasha’s voice was shaking, ‘I promised you would keep her safe!’. 

Levi closed his eyes. He could hear Erwin’s words in the back of his head, ‘You should’ve taken your responsibility’. He gritted his teeth together. He was nervous to see his child, to look her in her eyes. 

‘I’m sorry’, Levi whispered, carefully taking Amara from Sasha without looking at his daughter, ‘Go to the others, join Hange’s squad, I’m going to the infirmary’. 

When Sasha and Jean were gone, when he was left alone with Amara, he pulled her away from his shoulder, finally looking at his daughter. When he noticed her blue eyes, when he could see her looking at him, he wanted to cry. He never expected to feel like this, to feel this much love in his heart.

‘Amara, huh?’, a painful smile appeared on his face. ‘What have I done’, he whispered to himself, ‘I should’ve never let her leave, I should’ve been there for the two of you’, his hands were shaking, ‘I’m sorry’, he held her close to him, ‘I’m so sorry’.

Levi immediately rushed to the infirmary, keeping Amara close to him. 

‘Where is she?’, he asked one of the nurses, ‘Who?’, the nurse looked uninterested, ‘We have a lot of new patients, with the events that happened today’. ‘Y/N’, Levi sighed, ‘You know who I am, you know whom I’m talking about’. The nurse smiled, ‘She’s been asking about you’. ‘S-she’s awake?’, Levi sighed in relief, ‘Ai, but she needs to rest’. 

Levi followed the nurse.

‘This is her room’, the nurse pointed at the door. ‘What happened to her?’, Levi looked at the door, he wanted to buy some time. He needed to get his nerves under control. Levi didn’t want you to see how nervous he was. ‘She wanted to protect her’, the nurse pointed at Amara, ‘A titan stepped on a house she was hiding in, causing her to be crushed under the debris of stones. She threw herself on top of her child, making sure her child was safe from the stones that were falling. She suffers from a concussion, and several of her ribs are broken, as well as her leg and arm. She also suffered from internal bleeding, but we managed to stabilize her. She’s extremely lucky to be alive’. Levi closed his eyes, realizing it was supposed to be his duty as a father to keep the two of you safe. ‘Thank you’, he looked at the nurse. The nurse nodded in response and walked away. 

Levi could feel Amara’s small hands tugging on his shirt, letting out deep, slow breaths. He smiled at the feeling of her tiny hands.

‘Hm, you’re sleeping? You’re just like your mother, always sleeping at the worst possible times’, Levi chuckled. 

He could remember how you could fall asleep almost anywhere except your bed. He could still see you lying with your head on the table during one of Erwin’s meetings, or on the ground when your cadets were training. He’d always loved the sight of you sleeping, you looked so peaceful. 

Levi slowly opened the door, hands still shaking. He could see you lying in bed, looking out the window, ‘Nurse, have you maybe seen the girl that I gave Amara t-‘, ‘Tch’, Levi smiled. You quickly looked at him, eyes immediately tearing up when you saw he was holding Amara, when you could see they both were okay. ‘Levi!’, you wanted to get out of bed, to run towards the two of them, but you couldn’t. ‘A-are they safe?’, you quietly asked while Levi was sitting next to your bed. ‘Ai, all of your cadets, they’re all safe’, he whispered, ‘Erwin made me promise’, Levi looked at you. He could see how broken your body was, how many bruises you had, how many wounds, … He hated to see you like this. 

You couldn’t stop smiling. You always imagined what Levi would look like while holding her. Seeing Amara sleeping on his shoulder, holding her arms around his neck, … You wished the moment would never pass. 

‘Thank you’, you whispered, ‘I’ll take her back, I’m sorry I let Sasha take her to you, I thought I wasn’t going to make it’, you lowered your eyes. ‘N-no it’s fine’, Levi responded, tightening his grip around Amara, ‘I-I don’t mind’. 

He didn’t want to let go of her, he wanted to hold her like that forever. 

‘No, really’, you smiled, ‘I know you never wanted this, you don’t have to pretend’. ‘I’m not pretending’, Levi looked at the ground, ‘From the moment I held her, the moment I looked into her eyes I-‘, Levi’s gaze met yours, ‘I hate myself for the decision I’ve made’. ‘But-‘, you tried to reply, but he interrupted you. ‘I know what I’ve said, and I was right, this world is cruel… But after what happened today… I should’ve been there to protect my girls’. ‘Your girls?’, you chuckled. Levi smiled in response, ‘If you’ll have me, of course’. ‘Levi, I don’t kn-‘, ‘I want to be there for the two of you Y/N. Ever since you left the Corps… I thought I would never see you again. I’ve been searching for you everywhere. Not a day went by that I didn’t think of you, of our child. I regretted my decision long before today’, his voice sounded rough but honest, ‘Please, forgive me’, he clenched his jaw, ‘I know I’m not perfect, I know I’ll make mistakes. I never had a father, I don’t know how to be one, but I’ll try, I’ll try with everything I’ve got’. 

Words failed you. Even if you could talk, if the lump in your throat didn’t make it impossible, you’d still wouldn’t know what to say. This was all you’ve ever wanted. 

‘Y/N?’, Levi looked at you, eyes desperately searching to meet yours. You were looking at Amara, smiling. ‘Only if I can be a squad leader again, I can’t take this boring life any more Levi. I can’t stand to be stuck between four walls every single moment of the day’, you desperately looked at him. ‘Y/N that’s unreasonable-‘, ‘No, she can grow up with us in the Survey Corps. All my cadets, they’ll take care of her, we’ll take care of her, Erwin, Hange…. She’ll never be alone, she’ll be loved by everyone. I saw the way Sasha held her, she would’ve protected Amara with her life. Besides, our home’s been crushed, there’s nothing left of it anyway’, you sighed at the thought. 

Levi stood up from the chair, sitting down beside you on the bed. 

‘We’ll discuss it some other time, but for now, you need to rest’, he placed a soft kiss on your cheek, while carefully laying Amara next to you. Amara didn’t wake up, instead, she nestled herself in your free arm, curling up against your chest. ‘Thank you’, you whispered. Levi stood back up, but you carefully grabbed his hand, trying not to move too much. You didn’t want to wake up Amara. ‘Please, stay’, your eyes were begging him, ‘Your cadets, they’re probably with Hange, right? You can stay, please, I’ve missed you’. 

Levi carefully laid down next to Amara, placing his arm around the two of you. He felt a warmth inside his heart he never felt before. 

‘My girls’, he whispered before closing his eyes, ‘I’ll never let anything happen to the two of you ever again’.

Another year passed, and you were sitting with Levi, Erwin, and Hange outside, drinking a cup of tea in the sun. 

‘Amara!’, you could hear Sasha running after her, ‘That’s my potato!’. 

Since Amara started to walk, she’d become a real menace, always running away, grabbing stuff she shouldn’t… 

You looked at Levi, his eyes were hanging low, smiling at the sight of Amara running with the potato in her tiny hands, ‘She’s just like you’, Levi looked at you, ‘You’re always stealing my shit too’. ‘Hey, that’s not tru-‘, ‘Whose shirt are you wearing?’, Levi smirked while taking a sip from his tea. You could feel your cheeks getting red, Hange and Erwin were smiling too. ‘Oi Y/N, don’t worry’, Hange slapped your back, ‘Aunt Hange will save the day!’. She stood up from the table, running towards Sasha and Amara, ‘Oi Sasha! I’ll give you a new potato!’.

Reunited (Levi x Reader)

A/N: Hey guy, I’m back. All of you who have requests, they are coming. Just taking a little bit longer as I’ve been slammed with work. 

Summary: Around the time that Erwin recruited Levi and his two friends, you were a recent graduate, top of your class. You’re the daughter of Grisha Yeager, he brought you to Paradis from Marley, therefore you are Carla’s step daughter. When you joined the scouts, Carla made Keith promise to watch out for you. That was until Erwin suggested that you be partnered up with the rookie squad. Little did they know, you used to run with Levi and his group before you went to be with your dad and step mom.

Your P.O.V. 

You walk into the private rooms, walking toward Commander Shadis’s room. He and squad leader Erwin needed to talk to you. 

You had been off visiting family, seeing your father as well as his newborn son, Eren. You were happy for your father but at the same time, you were starting to miss Zeke back at home. 

“Commander, Captain.” You greet 

“Y/N, glad you made the trip back.” Keith starts “Thanks for meeting with us right away.” 

“Of course. Carla said hi.” You reply before looking at Erwin “I’m assuming this meeting is for something that you are suggesting.” 

“That would be correct.” He says “We’re getting ready to go on another expedition. And we’re bringing three new rookies.” 

“Okay? Why are you telling me this?” You start to question 

“We’re transferring you squads for this job. We’re putting you with Flagon and the rookies from the underground.” Keith starts “I’m sure you’ll be fine. You did graduate top of your class.” 

“What about my squad?” You question 

“Hange will be fine. Might be a little weird for a little bit but she’ll be fine.” Erwin starts 

You look out the window, looking toward the field where you see the other recent recruits plus three new ones.

Levi’s P.O.V.

I look up to toward the building, seeing the y/c/h in the window. 

“Who is that?” I question 

“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Somebody comments 

“She’s top of our class.” Another starts “Y/N Yeager. Rumor has it that she only really gets a private room because Commander Shadis promised her family that he’d keep a close eye on her.” 

Y/N? 

“Levi, you don’t think...” Furlan starts 

“I don’t know. We haven’t seen Y/N since she left with her father.” I hiss “We’ll stay quiet for now. For now we focus on the job.” 

“She might turn into an enemy, are you prepared for this?” Isabel starts 

“I’ll be fine. Will you?” I retort 

I turn away from the other soldiers before heading back toward the barracks. 

“Lets just get ready to put the plan into action.” I grumble

Walking through the barracks, almost immediately running into somebody. I see the jacket before the gear at their hips. I back up a bit before studying the figure in front of me. 

“Y/N...” I start 

“Levi. It’s been a while.” Y/N starts “I thought you would never join the military.” 

“I thought the same thing about you.” I reply “Thought your parents were against it.” 

“Not like they’ve ever stopped her.” Furlan says 

“Okay the fact that all three of you guys are here, there must be something going on.” She starts, eyeing the three of us

“Don’t know what you’re talking about.” I grumble “Now if you’ll excuse us, we should get some sleep before the big day tomorrow.” 

“Of course.” She whispers 

Your P.O.V. 

You sit in the ruins, your head resting against the wall behind you. 

“Y/N?” Hange starts “I have a question for you.” 

“Ask away Hange.” You drawl “But please remember, that we all need rest.” 

“It will be super fast.” She chuckles 

“Alright, then ask away.” You say

“You and the Levi dude. I saw how you two almost seemed to read each other’s mind out there with that titan.” She starts “Everyone is talking about it.” 

“I-it’s nothing.” You try to brush off 

“I’ve heard things. You ran in the underground for a while didn’t you.” She says “You ran into him and his group, didn’t you.” 

“Hange, I’m done with this. I’m getting some sleep. We have a long day tomorrow.” You say 

“Oh come on!” Hange continues to pry 

“Hange, I love you. You know that. I love your curiosity, but at the same time. We need sleep.” You whisper “And because of how well I know you, don’t go question Levi and them either.” 

Hange goes to complain before you glance at her. She quickly agrees before starting to lay down and starts to fall asleep. You hear a quick whisper, causing you to look over where you see Levi nodding toward the hallway. 

Getting up quietly, you head toward the hallway, watching out for the other soldiers as they are sleeping. 

“What was that about?” He asks 

“Just Hange being Hange.” You answer “What’s it to you?” 

“Well she was questioning you about me.” He continues 

“It was more about me and when I ran in the underground.” You point out “You don’t need to worry about it. Nobody knows about you and me. Just like we agreed when I left the underground.” 

Levi looks at you, just shaking his head. He takes one last look before heading back toward the other three. You just shake your head, heading back toward your mat, almost immediately falling asleep.

Your hood being held to your face as you ride through the rain, you were separated when the rain started to pour down. You were separated from Flagon as well as Levi and the others. 

You weren’t worried about Levi and the others but at the same time, you were. They didn’t have the years of training that you did. Sure Levi could fight, the killing of the titan just proved that. But at the same time, they were caught up on training within a few short months, that can’t be enough time to really learn how to deal with these kind of expeditions or even titans in this kind of weather. 

“Levi!” You yell out 

You didn’t care if this revealed the big secret or anything. You knew nobody would care if they didn’t make it back, but that is where everyone was wrong. You would care, you know you made a promise but if it meant the difference between life or death than you would break the promise. 

“Damnit, Levi, where are you?” You hiss 

You finally hear a yell before you starting direction your horse toward where you think you heard the fighting. 

Shortly afterward, you see Erwin’s blonde hair as he’s holding Levi’s blade away from his body. 

You can’t hear what is being said as you near them before you see that Levi is the only one standing. Levi sees you, his eyes almost looking relieved. You watch as his eyes dart back and that’s when you see the three corpses, or at least what is left of them. You slowly nod your head in understanding as you bring your horse to a halt next to them. 

“Yeager, where were you?” Erwin asks 

“I was separated when the storm started sir. I’ve been trying to find everyone else ever since.” You explain 

Erwin glances between the two of you before turning his horse around, looking back toward the wall. 

“Welcome to the scouts Levi.” He says, starting the retreat back toward the wall 

You ride next to Levi on the way back, the entire ride almost silent before you grab his reins and pull him back, taking up the rear of the soldiers that are left. 

“What the hell happened?” You whisper “What did I miss?” 

“Looks like you and me are going to be a team again. I’m officially joining the scouts.” Levi grumbles “This time not as some sort of fake job. This time to avenge Isabel and Furlan.”

• Ahh i am so happy that I finally got the time to sit down and right this post . By the way I am going to be referring to Hange with they / them . Anyways let’s get started Darlings!!

• For starters I feel like Hange is one of the few characters that can be completely obsessed with a person and no one around them would ever bat a eyes to their concerning behavior. Because of the way Hange acts on a normal bases, most people around would just think that they are just being their normal self.

• For this post I am going to place the reader as a scout.

• The main thing that really caught Hange attention about you was the fact that when they first noticed you , you were talking about your theories about titans during lunch with the other cadets. It was the day before your graduation from training and Hange couldn’t help themself from admiring your voice.

• When other cadets started to try to debate with you on the subject, Hange got oddly defensive and couldn’t stop themself from butting into the conversation and defending you. It actually took a moment for Mobley to come and calm Hange down. Once Hange was finished they immediately introduced themself and asked you to join the scouts and allow them to be your section commander.

• You we’re so flattered by this that the next day you joined the scouts under them and kinda became their personal assistant just like Moblit.

• Hange really liked to stalk you and tried to learn every single detail about your life even if it was super personal to you. Erwin and Levi definitely noticed Hanges obvious crush on you and Levi would make snarky comments about you. Levi soon stopped this behavior because as soon as he said something even remotely bad about you Hange would go off into a full rage mode or sorts. Only you could calm Hange from these outbursts by changing the subject to Titans, something both of you were very pationate about.

• Hange would probably order you to stay within the walls before missions. They truly do not want you to get hurt. They also don’t want to see you go through the pain of seeing your close friends get slaughtered by the titans. It can be very traumatizing for some people. If you were to get hurt they would blame themselves as well as everyone around them including Erwin for not keeping a closer watch on you.

• Believe it or not , Hange is not a very jealous person. They don’t see the need to but into your every single conversation with another person. They understand that you want socialize with people that are not them. Even though it can get quite annoying when you don’t want to do experiments with them and Moblit.

• Hange would never kidnap their darling, mainly because of how busy they are with work and stuff. They feel like they can watch you better when you are right next to them at all times. Hange would probably want to marry you as soon as possible. I don’t think Hange sees themselves having kids in y’all’s future but if you really push it , I feel like they would crack and let you have no more than two kids .
