Would jinhyung go thru puberty and all that have a bratty stage where he fights his parents there's gotto be a time like that right ((this is just me asking for an update on their lives tbh))

i see him more having “bratty” moments rather than a full on stage. i kind of reject this idea that all pre-teens/teenagers have to have a bratty stage. i think of it more as him pushing and testing the limits and challenging his parents, but i really see htttoh tk as a parental unit really instilling communication and openess in the home. they wouldn’t try to mold or shape jinhyung into who they want him to be but rather encourage who he naturally is/who he wants to be as a person, so there actually wouldn’t be a lot to rebel against. obviously puberty means hormones and mood swings and attitude but becauase tk just aren’t the kind of parents to think “child expressing negative emotions = bad” (and i honestly think this is why teenagers are seen as rude/badly behaved. don’t get me wrong, some kids can be brats and terrible, but a lot of the adults in their lives don’t know how to respond to them in a way that doesn’t elicit shame, which is i think where the vast majority of negative feelings during adolescence comes from) so they’d allow jinhyung to express himself and be true to his feelings but also give him the tools to learn how to manage himself emotionally and just be the kind of parents he can talk to. i also head cannon htt tk as respect being such a huge foundation to their relationship and romance and love, that it’s also the foundation of their home and how they want to raise their family, and that while there is a clear barrier that they are the parents and jinhyung is the child, they’d never be the sort of parents to belittle jinhyung or his feelings and have a more unorthodox approach to parenting. i’m not saying fights would never happen, or that jinhyung would never get upset or frustrated or simply have immature behavior, but that because he grows up with parents who respect him and instill respect for himself and for them, he grows up in an environment where he can better or more safely navigate those negative emotions.

that’s not to say again that there aren’t fights or outbursts or insensitivities, but they talk things out and value jinhyung and his feelings because they’ve always done that. partly it’s also that i don’t see jinhyung having much of a temper as he grows up, being more the type to get quiet when he’s upset. but now thinking about all this i think writing out a conflict with taehyung in particular would be interesting! especially depending on how old jinhyung is and the intensity, taehyung with jinhyung being understanding and handling of the situation, and then in private be kind of dramatic and dismayed that maybe subconsciously jinhyung doesn’t seem as his “real” father and jeongguk just being super nonplussed about it all because jinhyung looks more and more like jeongguk every day but he’s picked up so many of taehyung’s mannerisms and interests and habits and constantly tells jeongguk he wants to be “just as smart and cool and nice as dad” when he grows up and basically thinks anything and everything taehyung does is the most amazing thing ever and wants to do it too, even the dorky nerd stuff. i think jk would be more emotionally okay with handling jinhyung in a mood or conflict because he’s learned that fighting with someone you love doesn’t mean they don’t love you.

i’m not trying to say he’d be some perfect robot child/teen, but that because he’ll grow up in an environment where difficult feelings aren’t treated as something negative, he’s less inclined to have them be so dramatic or horrifying.

Saw another child today playing some kind of mobile game and his mother was helping him in that and then when he won or lost or wtv she gave him a pack of chips and asked him to give back the phone and he did and then just sat there eating like moments like these kids seem so cute so sweet so innocent inbuilt maternal instincts get triggered and after htttoh I just automatically compare every good child to jinhyung so like drawingspaces actually has no idea what she's done to my psyche. Jinhyung is REAL to me. Almost. He's the poster child in my head. Which fucking sucks since he's not actually real and like all the actual nice men (htttoh taehyung, htttoh jungkook) he might just never exist. Cue tears.

hi. i cried a lot reading htttoh; specifically, jk's (day)dream abt them in a bed and a baby in the crib made me cry everytime it was brought up again. i feel like its very big to love someone at a point you trust them other people you love. i feel like i learned a lot of new things and had a lot of new thoughts while reading it. thank you for writing it and sharing it! this will be one of my forever favorites.

Its a weird situation because yk jungkook irl rn doesnt help with not thinking about it at any moment. And i see a many people like me around on my tl? hello! you’re very sweet anon thank you! i and all my peeps are thankfully doing well! first, thank you for reading rw and i’m glad you seem to like it <3 as to your question, it doesn’t bother me. i understand why it happens. i think with rw, there’s an emphasis on jk’s appereance as the non pov character that it’s very easy to visualize him hence all the “omg this is rw jk!!!” tweets. even though i’ve described tae as well for whatever reason he’s less physically noticeable to readers? partly it’s that rw tae just dresses very plainly, t-shirt/jeans/plaid shirt is his basic uniform. hair hella shaggy but not unkempt, up until chapter 14-15 when he chops it. irl taehyung either dresseses like a cuban grandpa or an immortal dandy vampire there’s no in between (if i have to pick a direct comparison era for taehyung, face wise it’s now but outfits wise it’s most 2016-2017 aka peak minimalist fashion taehyung.) jk is much more likely to show up in leather irl ergo rw jk! i will say, i have gotten various anons/twitters who send me songs/poems/films/books/art that they say reminds them of rw tae way more than rw jk so that in itself is interesting that so many people connect different forms of media to him than rw jk.

it might be a pov character thing because on the flipside of this, it’s rarer for me to see people talk about htttoh jk as a character on his own vs htttoh tae who basically has his own fandom lmao! so it’s on a fic by fic basis at least for my au’s. now i wonder what it’s like for other authors and their fics in term of character reaction. but no, it doesn’t bother me nor do i find it offensive or anything!

have you ever written a main pov on characters with a significant age difference as you? (this may be subjective considering maturity differences can be different from person to person) but i'm mostly wondering abt this in the context of wanting to write a character in an age you have no idea what their lives would be about or basically what issues a person at that age would be tackling. i.e. a 19 yr old wanting to write a 24 y/o seems difficult. in ur experience, how have u/would u go about it?

i’m in my 20′s now and i have been writing (with huge interruptions of time) for roughly 10 years and have written characters in their teens up till their 40′s-50′s. obviously, i’ve been a teenager so i know what that felt like for me in particular, but the way i approach character, at least now, is that people are people and my experiences aren’t universal. so even though i was teen and i know what it felt like for me, that experience doesn’t apply to everyone. so when i write a character of an age that isn’t mine, both an age i’ve been (like for example jinhyung in htttoh. believe or not, i was a baby at some point! i obviously don’t have clear memories of it, but it happened) or one i haven’t been, is to treat them as a person-character-person as much as possible. i definitely do research into that age/experience whether that’s just online searches, watching a variety of media, reading books. obviously, a lot of this is stuff i’ve consumed over the years informing this as well. also, i know irl people of various ages, so that also informs having an idea of what people at different points of life tend to think about, care about, how they view the world, etc. but i try to approach every individual character as that particular character and try not to pigeonhole characters/fic based on how old they are. i know people in their early 20′s that are way more mature than people i know who are in their 50′s in some ways, and way less mature in others. don’t generalize characters based on their age is my point.  if i take my own fic as an example, “love me electric” taekook are my most emotionally intelligent tk. hands down. i will go to bat about this. they say what they mean, they don’t play guessing games or mind games with each other. they’re very open and vulnerable in their communication from the get go. obviously, their story is way simpler than some of my other tks and they don’t have the same life experiences that have informed why my others tks are the way they are, but they will genuinely have the most balanced and less difficult relationship out of all of them at the moment (except maybe time-space continuum tk but i digress). they’re in college. they’re the second youngest tk i’ve written. so i guess my advice is to:

1. approach characters regardless of age as multifaceted not just as generic representations of their age group

2. consume media about that age group made thoughtfully and empathetically 

3. research what the experiences of that age group are from those people themselves, especially taking culture into consideration.

weyes blood's titanic rising album reminds me a lot of your writing. the track movies especially, I feel like it's htttoh tae's song, not necessarily because of the lyrics (although they are about. movies. he likes movies.) but the dream-like floaty harmonies and instrumental. I really recommend her music if you don't already know her :D

adore weyes blood! her earlier albums are, and yeah we hate this word now whatever, underrated. but titanic rising is such a gorgeous lush album! i love movies for htttoh taehyung. it has such a both futuristic yet ancient quality to it that makes a lot of sense for him. something to believe in off this album is 100% htttoh jk’s.

hiii hoping youre having a lovely day! so u see im making an attempt at building rw jungkook’s house on sims 4 (yes im very not busy right now (or i should be but am ignoring all my responsibilities)). could u maybe enlighten me on his taste on furniture?

edit: for whatever reason, i saw rw and my brain interpreted htttoh so sorry, anon! i kinda (not really oops) answered this in another ask but i’m keeping this up because of course i will

his new place with taehyung? or namgi’s townhouse? if the former, it’s a mix of both his and tae’s tastes (more leaning on tae because he just cares about that more). so as in the ficlet i posted, lots of wood (elm, yellow birch, poplar) and warm colors that blend well with their place being a jungle. they have lots of windows so the place is always very bright/well ventilated. i like the idea of a lot of their furniture being mid century modern because it can be both very utilitarian and practical while not sacrificing style (jk) and very colorful and vintage (tae) without overwhelming the other. basically they have a very aesthetic yet livid in house and all of jinhyung’s childhood pics will be the envy of all when in 10-20 years he posts them on whatever modern technology people are doing #throwback thursday on.

if the latter, namgi’s taste is very modern minimalist to the point it’s basically scandinavian/modern (but not ikea! they buy from small hyper specific shops! the customs shipping fees are astronomical!) with splashes of bold colors (art hoe namjoon) and earthy tones (bonsai lover namjoon).
