Izutsumi character study

#dungeon meshi #izutsumi #One of my goals for this year was to spend more time doing art studies.#What better way to start than with my favourite danmeshi character (not seen: a whole page of figuring out her features)#I feel like she is by far one of the most poorly understood characters in the series. Partially due to her 'late party member' status.#'She's abrasive and mean' - 'she's a picky eater' - 'she's a catgirl who acts like an asshole cat ' YES and that is the point!#Everyone in dungeon meshi is traumatized and messy about it but izutsumi is just less polite in how she tries to cope.#Izutsumi is a extremely traumatized teenager who has utterly lacked autonomy her entire life.#She is the epitome of a “If I can just have X thing then all my problems will be solved!” character. And the X is 'Freedom'.#Her epilogue was one of the best and wrapped up her character so wonderfully (WARNING: I WILL NOW SPOIL PART OF THE ENDING)#Because she finally gets her freedom! She can go where she wants to and she doesn't need anybody! Yet...it doesn't fix her.#She is so focused on doing only what she wants that she forgets her own needs. Sometimes you have to eat the things you don't want.#And sometimes you have to face the hard truths that you need more than just one thing to make you happy.#Life is not all about only seeking pleasures and avoiding pain. You need to be balanced in order to grow.#Eat your vegetables (including the metaphorical ones: I am eating more art veggies this year by doing art studies!!!)

#jonsa #jon x sansa #sansa stark #jon snow #don’t tell me they mean nothing to each other when they have such glaring parallels #it’s the way no one else in the series has this exact dream to restore Winterfell and have a little starkling family #in the same book mind you !!#the way Robb is the missing piece to Sansa’s fantasy <33 #and Jon and Sansa don’t mention each other because they’ll be parents #oh the feelings I have #sometimes there was even a girl who looked like arya #and arya is known to resemble Jon really closely #implying that Sansa wants to marry someone of the north with stark features #which makes so much sense for her character arc to BE with someone born and raised in the north #not another random lord to exploit her claim and power #see this is why I wrote a 40 paged meta analysis and compiled it into a PowerPoint #and then presented it to my mother thus converting her into a Jonsa truther #WITHOUT OBJECTION #on a side note I find it so interesting when you talk to someone who’s neutral on ships and is willing to listen to whatever theory #as objectively possible #because as soon as I pointed all the evidence out to my mum she was like woahhh you’re smart analysis and you’re so correct

#yes i know this is ooc #Fucked up dabi's jacket on the first page but im not fixing that shit lol #the cover took at long to make as an entire comic page #also can you tell what pages i drew first based on how i get better at drawing the mha style #at least i feel like i can see that #my fav panel is the younger brother cold read one #its the last one i drew #mha dabi #touya todoroki #tw domestic violence #my hero acedamia #this is the art tag #boku no hero fanart #also i started reading MHA because i matched 1:1 with shiggy on every personality test (MBTI enneagram rulen shit like that)#and was looking on a personality databse for what character matched me to most #add mha to the list of series in which the good side are those seeking to preserve the status quo and the villains are people with #legit grievances and a desire to make society better but then have the villains inexplicably like. fight children so we know they are bad #and the end resolution is that society is fine and everything was an individual problem not a systematic one #also fuck endeavor redemption arc #and while enji may SAY it doenst matter if hes forgivven the story SHOWS that it does matte #In the manga Shoto literally explicitly says that if he didn't forgive Enji then he would be as bad as Dabi #and Deku says that what enji did in the past donest matter cause he was nice to him #and the only thing Natsu says against endeavor is that he neglected his kids when thats literally the least of his crimes #and while people see this as a Get Endeavor moment the way the whole arc is framed you're supposed to see Natsu as unresonable #it's why hes shown to be angry and hitting walls and endevor is perfectly calm #the narrative of the story brushes all the truly awful shit away and pretends like it didnt happen #i seriously doubt the fact the Endeavor human trafficked his wife then beat her to the point she was afraid of her own kids for looking like #him will ever be adressed #Rei literally bowed in apology to Hawks for what Touya did shes treated like shit by the narrative #also the fact that Deku explicitly states that none of the shit Enji did in the past mattered because he was a good mentor is such bullshit

around 24 years old, still learning about the world but old enough to realize the severity of her actions

she's trying to reclaim her childhood, and always the person who tries to set up fun events and leisure activities around her work schedule

has a business partnership with magolor, she advertises his themepark, he promotes her tech and gives her free ice cream when she visits

also has a part-time gig as a singer at magoland when her schedule allows it

since robobot, she's switched HWC to a fully green and eco-friendly enterprise (this is actually canon i just wanted to mention it)

constantly tries to give meta knight special deals for her tech as an apology for the mechanization

there is a restraining order for her in the halberd. this does not stop her from sending drones with HWC coupons

gets absolutely livid when someone calls her susanna. susanna is dead. it's susie now.

can't swim lol

when she was little, her dad let her choose a mechanical upgrade to her body once a year on her birthday. since the portal, she's given herself so many modifications she's barely organic

when she sleeps or goes unconscious, her eyes power off like a screen

has a charging port she needs to plug herself to every night

after robobot, she kinda just. broke down. she convinced herself that everything was fine: susie was the new president, her father was dead, and the company was a couple million dollars in debt. she threw herself into the paperwork and tried to forget about any emotions, because robots were efficient and followed protocol and didn't miss their dads, so why should she?

that went on for a while until she gave in to kirby's insistent playdate requests, who considered still her a friend despite everything

therapy

something something she found the value of genuine joy and family while keeping a healthy relationship with her business and the loss of her father, and also taking responsibility for her actions and making up for them

god a lot of these are kinda angsty so here's a happy one

susie definitely loves to style ribbon's hair and buys her new bows every time she visits

she's like the cool older sister to adeleine and ribbon and chuchu

someone tell me why so many 'western fantasy' setting kr webcomics have some kind of weird orientalism arc and the 'modern/dungeon break'-ish ones have some kind of weird nationalism arc. do they think that's a prerequisite for the setting. does it make the domestic audience more invested/engaged in the setting somehow. are they just so tired/brainless that they are slapping in "easy" plots and that's what they default to. can we do what bad kdramas do and start hitting people with cars in dramatic slow mo so people can have angry hospital hallway confrontations instead
