Chapter Twelve: merry christmas
tw: none
You’re still in Simon’s arms when you wake up.
Dull sunlight seeps through the window, casting the room in its pale glory. Each wall glows with a faint periwinkle as if every inch of this place is bitter and cold, in the grasp of some algid creature made of nothing but rime. If each wall is made of nothing but ice, then Simon is the very sun itself. The very essence of life flows from him and settles into you where it weighs down your bones and body, keeping you glued to him.
You’re still curled up on your side with your head on his chest and face buried in the scent of him. His arm keeps you corralled like a guard dog herding sheep—worried you might stray too far out of his reach. His free hand rests on top of yours—still perched on his chest over his heart—where he gently taps at the space between your knuckles like he can read you through touch alone. There’s a quiet knowingness in his touch; a hushed relation he attempts to etch into your skin. You don’t know why, but you think he might be the only person in the entire world who understands your pain.
At least, he’s been the only one that doesn’t try to instantly smother it away.
His movements cease when your legs begin to wander, muscles stretching and sighing as you point your toes and groan. When you settle back into him, you hear his heart beating twice as fast.
“Merry Christmas,” he whispers, voice low and rumbly.
Smiling against his side, you sigh. “Merry Christmas, Si.”
A childish squeal rips throughout the house, cutting through every wall as if it were as thin as tissue paper. Simon chuckles—forcing your head to jump up and down with the movement—as his arm tightens around you, pulling you closer.
“There he is,” he murmurs. “Reckon we should get up. Unless you want a four year old prancin’ on the bed.”
Simon moves, but when you stiffen he pauses. You cling to him like vines do. Long arms and tendrils, desperately searching for something to hold you steady—to keep you warm. Eventually, you let go. You ignore the pang in your chest when you do.
“Yeah. Guess we shouldn’t keep the little guy waiting too long,” you chuckle in agreement.
Joseph hardly waits for you and Simon to enter the living room—disheveled and groggy—before ripping into his presents. A myriad of gifts adorn the skirt of the Riley Family’s meticulously decorated tree. It’s nothing short of a Christmas miracle with filled stockings and toys wrapped in glistening paper. With each box that he picks up, he slowly reads out his name—“Jo-ss-iph!”—before diving into his gift and cheering at the new addition to his bountiful collection of toys.
Beth and Tommy are half awake sitting on the floor with their son as they grin and coo over his blitheful reactions. His grandmother sits on the edge of her seat in her rocking chair as she helps to collect discarded wrapping paper and crinkled bows. Somehow, she looks even more excited about the gifts than Joseph does as her blue eyes gleam in the faint light of the Christmas tree.
The windows nearly shatter with the shriek he lets out at Simon’s gift.
“Mama! Mama look! Look!” he cheers as he drags the oversized box towards Beth. “It’s the one they have on TV!”
Beth’s eyes fill with relief and gratitude as she nods towards Simon. “What do you say to Uncle Simon?”
A sheepish grin pulls at the boy’s cheeks as he quickly rushes to his uncle where he throws his arms around his leg. “Thank you!”
Chuckling, Simon pulls his nephew into his lap with ease where he smothers him with a hug and a kiss on the head that leaves him giggling with his feet kicking. “You’re welcome, Joey.”
As the morning speeds by, the Christmas tree looks more and more naked with each gift that’s opened. Barren and empty, yet still glistening with ornaments and crooked tinsel. You let yourself sink into the loveseat as you stare at the lights and the way it diffuses like a dream. That dream fractures as Simon slips off of the couch next to you in order to retrieve one small, lone gift hidden within the folds of the tree skirt.
“Here,” he prompts as he returns to your side, holding it out for you.
Blinking, you look back and forth between him and the object, fingers too timid to reach for it. Your name is written on a tag in small, curt handwriting. “For me?”
“Go on,” he urges. “Open it.”
Guilt clouds your mind as you gingerly take the box into your hands. It’s light. Hardly any bigger than the size of your palm, yet the bow on it is nearly twice as large. Expertly knotted, perfect loops, and long, curling ribbons. You purse your lips into a line as Simon leans forward, elbows resting on his knees, shoulder knocking against yours in the process.
“But… You shouldn’t have. I… I didn’t get you anything,” you murmur.
He shrugs. “You came all the way here with me. That’s all I wanted for Christmas.”
Over the last few weeks, you’ve learned better than to try to argue with Simon, so you carefully tug on the bow. Soft silk becomes undone and flutters into your lap as you pop the top off of the box to reveal a fluffy, red mess. A miniature version of a red fox sits upon black velvet. It’s cartoonish, with an extra pointy nose and round, azure eyes. It’s more akin to a stuffed animal with soft, faux fur. A short chain protrudes from the top of its head with a small clasp on the end—a keychain.
“Mrs. Price helped me pick it out,” he concedes.
“I love it,” you say, nearly choking on the word. You continue to stare at it for a moment, fingers brushing over its fluff before playfully poking its plastic nose. When you look back up at Simon, you find him already looking at you—always looking at you. “Thank you.”
A smile quietly pulls at the corner of his lip, scar tissue stretching and folding in on itself. “Glad you like it, sweetheart.”
The butterflies that sentence plagues you with lingers all the way until dinner, and even then they still persist. They churn, twisting up a tempest within your stomach until your nerves jitter and jolt. You’re nearly knocking over your glass at the table as you try to conceal that new blaze inside of your chest—to douse out the flames with a simple sip of water. You wonder if the glowing embers left inside of you illuminate the soot covered bones of your ribs. Certainly, they have to do something to get rid of that insatiable darkness that’s plagued you for so long.
Mrs. Riley has prepared a lovely meal for the Christmas feast. Largely in thanks to Joseph—of course—who had the very important task of helping his mother whisk the gravy for the mash. It’s one of the largest homestyle meals you’ve had in ages. Honey coated ham, Yorkshire pudding, roast beef, roasted potatoes; you don’t think you’ve eaten so much in quite some time. When you first make your plate you can’t even see the bottom of it, and when you’re finished it’s practically sparking clean. Might as well skip the wash and put it straight back into the cupboard.
When dinner and dessert are finished, everyone helps clean up (like a well oiled machine—as Tommy says—to which Joseph quotes back clumsily as if it’s a mantra he hears often). There’s time for one quick Christmas movie and a few drinks before yawns begin to infect everyone, and the hands of the old grandfather clock in the living room strikes ten. Dainty chimes echo quietly throughout the house. Soft and careful, as if to not wake anyone.
Everyone begins to migrate to their rightful place after that. There’s Mrs. Riley, who shuffles upstairs to her room after giving everyone a bone crushing hug. There’s Tommy and Joseph, who giggle in the old office room to one another as they talk about the airplane they’ll have to paint together when they get home. There’s Beth, who’s taking a well deserved break away from her two rambunctious boys as she washes herself in the shower.
Then, there’s you and Simon.
A hazy penumbra obscures your vision as you lay next to him. There was no question about it when you both crawled into bed—there will be no separation between the two of you tonight. You curl beneath covers with his arm wrapped around you and an ear pressed against his chest as you listen to the proof of his existence. He is the most tangible thing you’ve ever had hold you, and despite his ruggedness and scars, he is also one of the softest. The kindest. Something that can embrace you without pins and needles nettling your skin.
Chest expanding, you breathe him in. You want to bottle up his scent and carry it around with you. It’s vague. Comforting. Natural.
You hate cologne.
“Thanks for comin’ with me,” Simon says softly, breaking the fragile silence hanging in the air.
“Of course.” You pause, chewing on the tip of your tongue as you try to get the second half of your response out. “Thank you. For bringing me here. I don’t think I’ve… you know. Just- Thank you. I’m glad I came.”
It’s impossible to tell if you’re hearing things wrong, but you swear Simon’s heart beats faster. It thumps in his chest like a war drum attempting to play a love song. It’s flimsy. Unpracticed with novice rhythm. Still, it only grows stronger as his head lifts from his pillow, neck curling forward as a strong arm holds you tight.
His lips press against the crown of your head, lingering just long enough for your own pulse to drown his out.
“Me too, sweetheart.”

♡ Lover - Joseph Woll ♡

warnings: none?
Notes: this fic is based off the song lover by Taylor swift. Hope you guys like it!
“We could leave the Christmas lights up 'til January
And this is our place, we make the rules”
“It feels nice to have our own place” Joseph whispered, taking in the view of the new place you guys had purchased. He wrapped his arms around your waist to bring you closer to his body placing little kisses on your temple and neck.
As you stood there, it was finally your turn to take in the new place you had been dreaming of for so long. The excitement and anticipation you felt were palpable, and as you looked around at your dream home, it almost didn't feel real. You couldn't help but imagine the memories you would make here with your future family, and the thought filled you with joy. This was the place where you hoped to build your life and raise your children, and you felt happy to start that journey with Joseph by your side.
“Do you know what this means, Joey”
“That we can finally do it wherever we want?” He smirked, moving his hands to let them rest on your ass. Joseph laughed when he heard you gasp and hit his shoulder.
“I’m serious, baby”
“So am I. I’m kidding.. not really but what were you gonna say, love”
"Come with me," you say, grabbing his hand and intertwining your fingers. You lead him towards the grand entrance hall, where the breathtaking view of the backyard, the cozy living room with a small fireplace, and the sleek modern staircase leading to four bedrooms, an office, and an upstairs lounge area await.
As you gaze around, a wave of excitement washes over you. You can already picture all of Joseph's teammates, friends, and family gathered here, especially during the holidays. The thought of Christmas in this house is making your heart race with anticipation. You turn to Joseph and exclaim, "Jo, I'm going to transform this house into a winter wonderland! We'll start decorating November 1st, and we'll keep them up until January or February when I feel ready."
Joseph looks at you with admiration and affection, tracing his fingers over your cheek and giving you a soft smile. He brings you closer and kisses you with passion. "I'm all for it, honey. Whatever makes you happy," he says, and you know that this is the beginning of something wonderful.
“We could let our friends crash in the living room”
As Matthew prepared to leave, he turned to ask, "Are you sure it's alright for me to stay over?". You walked over to gently push him towards the couch, reassuring him that it was perfectly fine, and that Joey would even make him breakfast in the morning. Joseph soon joined the conversation, carrying a spare pillow and blanket for his friend, and placing them carefully on the couch. He turned on the fireplace and handed Matthew the remote.
"Make yourself at home. We know you don't want to go back to your place. The guest room is open if you change your mind”
Matthew settled himself comfortably on the couch, turning on the TV to watch a movie. "I’ll be ok," he said, "You guys know I love this couch. I'll sleep like a baby here." As you bid goodnight to Joey and turned off the lights, Matthew had already made himself at home, cocooned in blankets and pillows, drifting off to sleep in front of the warm fireplace.
“And at every table, I'll save you a seat, lover”
Joseph always felt comfort and security when you sat next to him. He cherished moments spent whispering sweet nothings to each other, feeling a deep connection beyond words. Your mere presence gave him warmth and happiness that he couldn't find anywhere else. He often found himself lost in your eyes and your voice, feeling like he could stay in that moment forever.
"Hey Joey, can I sit next to you?" Matthew asked, already knowing the answer. The goalie blushed and shook his head. "That spot is for my girlfriend."
Joseph eagerly anticipated your arrival at the restaurant. When you walked in, he was stunned by your beautiful black dress that hugged your curves perfectly. He stood up to greet you and pulled out your chair. "God, you look stunning, love."
Joseph spent the entire night kissing and praising you. His hands never left your body. He ignored his friends' teasing and focused on your smile and laughter.

Honey, I'll be eighty-nine with flowers growing out my eyes
Joseph Woll x fem!reader
Warnings: sad af, could be read as a break up or a death
the song
I hurt my own feelings with this one I won't lie
Joseph's jolted back into reality by a gentle touch on his shoulder. His blurry eyes find the figure of Matt crouching in front of him, Auston and Willy hovering behind him.
"Jo?" Matt's voice sounds far away, like he's at the end of a long tunnel, and Joseph can't quite reach him. Auston moves first, hands gripping Jo's arms, and Willy moves to the other side, the two of them working together to bring Joseph to his feet. Matt moves out of the way to let them past, but Joseph digs his feet into the ground.
"Jo, buddy, come sit on the couch," Willy's voice is gentle, his accent adding a soothing lilt to the words.
"She's gone," Joseph's voice cracks on the words, and he can feel the tears flowing down his cheeks, and his chest begins to heave. Matt's quick to wrap his arms around Joseph's torso, and the others follow suit, comforting arms holding Joseph as he sobs.
Everntually, they manage to wrangle the 6'3 man to the couch, clumsily lowering him down before Matt sits next to him and let's him continue to cry.
"Jo, bud, you're gonna be ok," Auston's voice is kind, but sure, as if he can't fathom that Joseph won't be ok eventually. Joseph mumbles something response and Auston frowns.
"Bud, what?"
"He said there's a hole in his chest." Matt supplies, and he looks around the room. "I think this place will be haunted for a while."
"He can stay with me," Willy comments, his face twisted in concern. Jo shakes his head.
"I won't leave this room."
"Jo-"
"No," Joseph's voice is loud and harsher than they've ever heard it. "I'm not leaving. What if she comes back?"
Matt looks to his friends, and he can see the way Auston's shoulders slump forward, and Willy's face falls.
"Ok Joey, you don't have to leave yet," Willy pats Jo's shoulder, a hand quickly wiping away his own tears before they can fall.
Honey, I'll be eighty-nine with flowers growing out my eyes
Waiting here for you
Holding onto hope I’ll hold you in another life
There's a hole in my chest
'Cause the day that you left
Was the day that I died

48: Neutral Territory
part one | previous | next | masterlist | ao3 version
On the first Monday of September, Thad will start college at Metropolis University. That leaves him one week to, as Joseph puts it, “settle in”. One in-between week where Joseph is working and Thad is free to wander around as he chooses.
He doesn’t feel like he’s “settling in”. He feels like he’s split in half. He’s half happy, half… something else.
When he’s with Joseph, he’s happy. Simple as that. He hangs around Joseph whenever he can and only leaves him when he has to.
Joseph has taken to braiding Thad’s hair every night before bed, so that it stays out of his face at night, he says. In actuality, Thad thinks Joseph just likes braiding Thad’s hair. It’s embarrassing. It’s horrible. It makes Thad purr.
He likes it.
Thad always takes the braid out in the morning. He leaves his hair long and wild in the daytime, like Bart’s, only not, because, in this house, no one but himself thinks of him as a clone of Bart. It makes him smile sometimes, knowing that Joseph doesn’t think of his hair as like Bart. To Joseph, Bart's hair would be like Thad. Sometimes the long hair bothers him, but Thad can live with that. You win some, you lose some, as Joseph says sometimes.
Thad learns things about Joseph. Bit by bit. Joseph likes orange muffins in the mornings, and he has an assortment of ridiculous robes to sleep in that he changes out of before he leaves his room in the morning, maybe because they expose so much of his chest. Thad doesn’t mind; he lost his capacity to react emotionally to nudity a long time ago. Thad’s favorite of Joseph’s robes so far is a yellow one with blue dragons on it. It clashes with Joseph’s hair and his skin. The first time he saw the yellow robe, it nearly made Thad give himself up by laughing.
Thad spies on Joseph sometimes, vibrating himself into the attic space above Joseph’s room’s ceiling. It’s a dark little habit; he’ll break it one of these days, maybe, when he stops feeling like Joseph stops existing when Thad’s not watching him.
It does occur to Thad to ask Joseph if he can sleep in the same room. Luckily, he’s not insane, so he immediately banishes the thought from his mind.
When he’s not with Joseph… when he’s not with Joseph, he’s back to being Thaddeus Thawne again.
The Plum Room is his territory, and the rest of the house is… neutral territory. Adeline’s suite is enemy grounds. Maybe he shouldn’t think of her as an enemy, but he can’t seem to help it. That sort of thing is built into his DNA.
Joey assures Thad that Adeline tolerates him, likes him, even, but every time she speaks to him it’s so brusque Thad can’t help but think of her as a President Thawne, a looming figure with all the power. He avoids her, and he avoids her rooms.
The great room and the kitchen and pantry are neutral zones. Thad doesn’t like them. They’re too open. They make his back itch. The pantry is better—it’s small. He feels safe there, surrounded by bread and peanut butter and sacks of flour and sugar and a virtual colony of snacks. It’s stupid. It’s stupid how safe it makes him feel, all that food, available for him at any time.
He takes advantage of the food at random times, testing the promise, and when Joseph notices, it just makes him smile, which makes Thad happy. So maybe it’s not entirely stupid.
The east side of the mansion is neutral territory. The pool room is beautiful, alluring, tempting… dangerous. It would be too easy to relax into that water and just—lose himself. He might dissociate in there, and he’s had Adeline’s warning that he could drown that way running through his head since she said it. No, the pool room is wonderful, but he doesn’t use it. The closest he comes is sitting on the edge of the pools, thinking. Just… thinking. Swirling his feet in the water, sometimes.
The water feels like CRAYDL.
He thinks maybe he’s mourning, or whatever twisted semblance of that emotion he’s capable of.
He doesn’t talk about CRAYDL to Joseph. Not much. Just bits and pieces, here and there. Facts. Not feelings.
The music room is Joseph’s room. Thad loves it the same way he loves Joseph—in a shockingly uncomplicated way. It’s a good room, it has beautiful things in it, and it’s full of strange knowledge. It’s a puzzle Thad wants to figure out. It’s a refuge when he gets tired of the rest of the house.
The exercise room—
Thad went in there once, when Joseph was gone. He was bored and feeling vaguely guilty for existing; he wanted to work out.
He got as far as resting his hand on a treadmill and suddenly had an urge to vomit so strong that he had to run away.
The next day, he’d gradually worked around to asking Joseph if, hypothetically, if Thad wanted to, which he doesn’t, if he could go for a run, just for fun, just to keep himself in shape or whatever, and if that would be terrible, or selfish, since he can’t be a vigilante like the rest of Flash’s little cadre.
Joseph said yes, of course Thad could go for a run, whenever he wanted to. He looked away from Thad as he signed, a mercy Thad didn’t realize he needed until it became a lifeline.
Joseph said, “You don’t have to put your powers to use as a hero, Thad. It’s okay to just let them out for fun.”
Thad had been silent a little too long. Joseph had added, “Go be a kid if you want to. Run around.”
So. Thad tried.
And failed.
The Flash is out there somewhere. The idea of running into him paralyzed Thad before he took a single step. All he could do was stand in the yard watching the frozen landscape and trying to let the world speed back up around him.
So. Thad is half happy, half unhappy, and he’s still useless.
Upstairs is mostly good, apart from Adeline’s study and the Green Room. Thad likes his room. He likes Joseph’s room, too, when Joseph is there. He feels safe with him. The upstairs hallways, though… well. They’re the maid May’s property, and Thad doesn’t really know what that means.
He’d met her on Monday. He tried to ignore her like he used to ignore the servants who occasionally invaded CRAYDL to bring parts for repair, but she’d said hello to him directly. Thad had frozen, recalculating, and then said hello back. She’d asked how he liked the mansion. He’d stayed silent for a moment, calculating. What did she mean by that? What did she want? What kind of power did she have here? She was a servant, so surely not much. But a trusted servant, so he has to be cautious.
Thad hates not having all the information so, so much. He feels like Bart.
Finally, he’d said, “Where I grew up, servants don’t talk like that.”
It was a gamble. If she was like CRAYDL, trusted and valued, almost a friend to Adeline, she could complain. Thad would be in trouble then.
May had stared at him for a moment.
“…Sorry to hear that,” she’d said. “Where did you grow up?”
Another question. Grife. How much was Thad allowed to tell her?
The maid added, “I know about everything Adeline does, so don’t worry about that. I tell you, the non-disclosure agreements I had to sign when I got this job… that was decades ago, but I still remember like it was yesterday!”
Oh, great. So she is like CRAYDL. That makes her approximately equal with Thad, power-wise. Thad recalculated his approach again. They’re going to have to establish a hierarchy here somehow. Better sooner than later.
He took a deep breath, wishing he had the armor of his Inertia costume.
“I’m from the future,” he’d said. “I’m the genetically engineered clone of Bartholomew Allen the Second, also known as Impulse, and I used to be what you might call a supervillain.”
He paused out of habit, waiting for the reaction.
“Nice to meet you,” May said. “Your name’s Thad, isn’t it?”
“Thad Thaw—”
Thad cut himself off. He wanted to throw up.
He found his cheeks hot, eyes averted—when did he break eye contact? When did he back up as if the maid could hurt him? He bit his lip savagely, then looked her in the eye and enunciated, “Sophos. Thaddeus. Anacletus. Free.”
The maid looked at him and her expression reminded him of Helen. It was—it was—it burned him. She said, “You’ll get used to it.”
And Thad fled.
On Tuesday morning, Thad opened the door of the Plum Room and found a plate of cookies on the floor. Instantly suspicious, he’d immediately gone and asked Joey what they were and who they were from.
“Just cookies, nothing bad,” Joey had signed. “From May, probably.”
“Why?”
Joey shrugged. “A housewarming gift?”
Thad scowled. “A what?”
“A welcome gift,” Joey had explained patiently.
A welcome gift.
As in, a gift from someone who belongs here, to someone who just joined, as a sign of peace and also a way to express the disparity in their resources. May is showing that she can afford to give him a gift.
Yeah, Thad is definitely second in this hierarchy.
He’s tentatively alright with how things are going with May, though. She doesn’t talk to him after that first time. When their paths cross, she just says hello and nods at him, and she doesn’t seem to expect anything of Thad in return.
After so long as a tool, it’s wonderful to not be expected to do anything.
Two more days left. Saturday and Sunday. And Saturday won’t be boring. Joseph is having some of his Titans friends over for “a get-together”. Strictly non-hero-work-related, Joseph assured Thad. Generously, Thad has agreed to let Joseph present him to his friends, even though they all know Wally West.
He won’t be expected to stay with Joseph’s friends long. All he has to do is go say hello and leave. It will be fine.
And then—on Monday—he’ll start college. His official excuse to get out of hero work.
Joseph’s fingers comb through Thad’s hair. Thad leans back into his hand with a sigh. It’s Friday night, and Joseph is braiding his hair before bed.
Joseph stops for a moment, then picks up the actual comb and gives Thad’s hair one last comb-through. He tugs gently, and Thad tilts his head back, giving Joseph access to the hair at his forehead.
This also gives Joseph access to Thad’s throat, of course. Thad thinks of that, head tilted back, eyes closed, feeling Joseph’s fingers tracing firm lines through his hair, gathering logical chunks of his hair for a braid. His throat is totally exposed. A month ago, Thad couldn’t have endured this. He’d have vibrated out of his skin rather than let anyone hold his head by the hair for a prolonged period of time.
Now… Thad thinks of it, and he is deeply, deeply disturbed that he fails to fear properly.
The pressure on his hair lulls him into a trance. He remembers being a very, very young clone rocking himself to sleep in the liquid of the nutrient womb, not even educated enough yet to know what he was instinctively mimicking—human connection.
With a start, Thad remembers his throat tipped up, exposed. He remembers to be afraid. He remembers that he can’t be fully afraid anymore. Not of Joseph, not all the time; he can’t keep it up. Fear, his only lifelong companion, which outlived even CRAYDL, comes and goes.
What is he, without his fear?
Thaddeus tries. He gathers fear in his chest, concentrates hard, feels his heartbeat in his throat.
He is afraid.
Joseph pushes Thad’s head forward so he can reach the hair at the back. Thad puts his chin down obediently. Then he remembers to be afraid.
Something is not right.
He’s happy.
Something isn’t right.
#the strange redemption of thaddeus thawne#imperfect—but done!!!!#y'all I'm so close to done with college#I'll have more brainspace for Strange Redemption!!!#this rejoicing brought to you by someone deeply exhausted by college and ready for it to be over#insert saluting emoji here#every update in the last six months has been a triumph

Okay I am making this at night because I can't sleep at all!!!... It fucking sucks... Anyway I want to tell you how Jennifer is like with Joseph, and a little bit of information about her, and I want to tell you all of it even the freaky stuff okay let's begin horny readers
Jennifer.
-well I already explained this in the story I made, but Jennifer and Joseph have known each other all their lives so they're pretty comfortable around each other... And they love each other a lot!!!, and they basically have no one else, and their love story is basically like MC and Ian... that is sad.-
-so anyway let's talk about the lovely couple-
-Jennifer definitely loves physical touch!, she loves cuddling with him, hugging him, kissing him, holding his hand, sitting close to each other, sitting in his lap, fucking him or him fucking her, touching him or just being around him in general, and she's a little bit clingy, she follows Joseph around almost everywhere but if he tells her to give him some space she will.
-also she loves to cook or make drinks for him, she learned a lot of recipes I mean a lot of recipes from her grandma and growing up she always had to be the one to cook because her older brother was always busy and her mom was also always busy so she had to cook for her and her little sister and of course her mom and her brother, so she is a amazing cook, and she always makes food for him it's like one of her love languages.
-she helps him with anything and everything or asks if he needs help with anything, like for example if he was doing something like folding a piece of laundry she would be like "hey Joey do you need help?" And he would be like "doll I know how to fold laundry" "just asking".
-and she always comforts him when he's sad or angry or scared or anything, even though he's a great actor she can tell if he's feeling sad or angry or any feelings he is experiencing, girl will go out of her way just to make him feel better!!!.
-and also when she is upset or angry or something she always goes to Joseph and most of the time just hugs him silently... Because even being around him makes her happier... He makes her feel safe and wanted and loved... And he is the only thing she's got (I mean she has Johnny but that's her son and I mean in like a friendship and romantic relationship with Joseph),... It'll just be like Joseph:"are you okay Jennifer?",Jennifer:"not really..."...
-and about his drug problem, she does the best she does to take care of him and make sure he doesn't overdo it or do it too often... She has the same struggles as him when it comes to addictions but she has it under control most of the time... She started controlling her substance abuse problems after Johnny was born.
-and she didn't know about this but if she found out about his prostitution, she would just be a little mad and upset that he didn't tell her but she would understand at the same time I mean you got to get your money somehow, I mean her mom used to do the same thing for money, so she understands, and if it was really really really needed she would let him do it, and help him if he needs help, like bring him food, bring him supplies, help him when he needs help...
-she gives him all sorts of pet names and nicknames like, Joey, JJ,J,JoJo,Jo, Josie, Josie bear, sweetheart, sugar tits, sugar, sweetie pie, babe, baby, baby cakes, sugar baby, Josie poo, Daddy, hot stuff, honey pie, honey, big dick, JoJo bear, even if he hates even one of the nicknames she was still calling that to mess with him...
-people usually see him as a bad boy or something before he became the famous actor who played Sunday Jack, but even before and after she still saw him as her Joey... It doesn't matter if he's a literal Incubus, or the scariest looking man to ever exist, or even a freaking serial killer!, she was still see him as the cutest softie ever
-and as for his big ol bitties, she freaking loves them!, she will put her face in them while hugging or fucking or something, and will stare at them shamelessly sometimes even in public, since she is 5'6 and he is 6'2 (I think I'm not sure what his height is) she definitely takes advantage of that height difference, she really loves his knockers, she will kiss them or lick them or even if he wants her too bite them not hard of course but still during sex... Wouldn't be surprised if she likes licking whipped cream or chocolate sauce off of them, she loves touching them sometimes she will even grab one of his boobs and give them a little squeeze and say "honk"...
-and I can see he would have a nice ass and she also loves that, (she would probably love any ass he has), any chance she would get she would slap or grab his ass, and even stare at it shamelessly too, sometimes secretly in public, she would not be able to resist touching that nice ass, like for example if he is bending over to grab a dish from the dishwasher she would walk behind him and slap his ass and continue walking or most of the time turn around and smile at him, or sometimes say "nice ass sweet cheeks~" or just do a little whistle.
-she would definitely wear his clothes, like his shirts, sweatpants, boxers, or jackets, because they're comfortable she will give them back of course because she's not mean like that, Plus she knows that turns him on, so sometimes she does it on purpose just to tease him.
-she definitely teases or whispers sweet nothings in his ear or flirts with him a lot! She loves seeing him flustered or hard or horny, during sex, on breaks, alone time, while cooking, while he is getting dressed to film another Sunny Day Jack episode, you know it, sometimes if they're in public and she wants to flirt with him she will whisper sweet nothings in his ear just to mess with him... Or even if she provokes him too much and she has to pay the 'consequences' she will gladly pay those 'consequences'~.
-whatever he is into she is into, like a sex position, or any Kink he's into and I mean ANY kink, she already knows what he likes or what gets him hard or flustered or hot and bothered or whatever makes him cum, she is definitely a pleasure top or bottom, she knows the right positions and moves to make them both cum and have a good time... Oh and she definitely loves marking him up, hickeys, Love bites, small little bruises from accidentally gripping him too hard, scratches from her nails digging into a skin during sex, she knows he likes it too the guy shows them off like badges of Honor.
-as for her kinks, she loves being blindfolded during sex... She doesn't really know why it's just a feeling, she loves it when he kisses or strokes or licks or in general touches her chest, she loves it when he marks her up! Hickeys, love bruises, Love bites, love scratches, you name it!,... She freaking loves cuddle fucking... Feeling safe and loved in his arms as he has his dick inside her... Amazing!, almost every time she gives him head she puts whipped cream on his dick... Just the delicious cream mixed with his delicious cum...is so yummy yum yum..., she loves it when he touches the little bulge on her stomach from his dick being inside her stomach, she loves it when he grabs her hands or wrists or legs or hips and hold them in place as he plows deep into her, she loves it when he pulls her hair, she always wraps her legs around his waist... Because she knows he enjoys it... she seeing him have a good time moaning or groaning or grunting... Or just showing any signs of him feeling really good while during sex... She feels proud of herself... Proud that she could make him feel good... She loves making him happy...
-anytime she can she gets him small gifts or gifts in general, his favorite snacks and candy, clothes, cigarettes, basically anything he likes she gets for him...(I'm not sure how he got his boots but I heard that his boots are one of his prized possessions... I have a theory that the love of his life gave them to him, and in this story it's Jennifer)
_________________________________________
-I already basically said this but, she already knows how he is... How his home life was... His emotions and his personality... And she knows he wants to be seen and heard and loved... And she will always make sure he feels that way... They are a lot similar... And they grew up together... Growing up she had a few friends but... They always ended up mysteriously leaving her... Like in high school...
-when they were 16 he convinced her to run away with him... She agreed because... She loved him a lot and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him... Plus it's not like she had that much back home... So she ran away with him... And she doesn't have any regrets...
-and she had a similar childhood as him, her parents had her big brother (Jesse) when they were 15 and 2 years later they had Jennifer in 5 years later they had her little sister(Julia)... Her parents weren't good parents at all they were neglectful and abusive... Her father was mostly physically and abusive... And her mother didn't care at all and most of the time didn't even pay attention to them like they didn't exist and when she would actually acknowledge them she would just tell him what to do or emotionally and mentally abuse them, and they had drugs around the house easily in the children's reach... A few times Jennifer would accidentally step on one of her father's heroin needles or whatever drug he could get his hands on that were on the floor, one time she almost died because of it... That's why she's afraid of needles... And her parents relationship wasn't good either they would always fight and cheat on each other... It was a surprise that the relationship even lasted that long, and her father would always take his anger out on them... But when she was 9 her parents finally got divorced but shortly after the divorce when she was 10 her father shot himself in the head and blamed them for it in his suicide letter... And her mother was a sex worker so she was always out of the house and even when she was she was either fucking one of her new boyfriends or drinking or doing drugs in her room, so her and her brother what have to take care of each other in the apartment they live in, Jesse would work, and Jennifer would take care of the apartment like, cleaning, cooking... They did their best to take care of Julia... But they knew their grandparents on their mom's side and would often stay at their house to get away from their mother
-but after she ran away with Joseph she didn't see her siblings for years until...1985... After Joseph died and she got accused of Joseph's murder, and Jesse was her lawyer because after she ran away he worked his ass off to give him and Julia a good life, even though Jesse was still mad at Jennifer for abandoning them he still wanted to help his little sister,(this is just one of the au I made with her and Joseph... So basically after he got shot in the head, Jean accused her of the murder, of course she didn't... Because the case was closed because there was no evidence and the studio erased all proof of sunny day Jack off the planet... So 'how can she murder someone who doesn't exist?')
-and like I said about Joseph and Jennifer... Their relationship is like MC and Ian... It doesn't end well...

Is there any like genderfluid-theme names? (Like names that can be fem, masc, and gender neutral??)
-
There are a few different ways to have a sort of genderfluid name! You could always just go with a regular gender neutral name that could be interpreted as masculine or feminine (you can look through the #neutral names tag on here for ideas)
Alternatively, you could go with more neutral names that can be expanded into more traditionally masculine/feminine names. You could then use the neutral name by itself or use the neutral name sometimes, the masculine equivalent sometime, and the feminine equivalent sometimes. For example:
Charlie (Charles/Charlotte)
Alex (Alexa/Alexis/Alexandra/Alexander/etc.)
Sam (Samuel/Samantha)
Max (Maxwell/Maximus/Maxine/etc.)
Jo/Joey (Joseph/Joe/Josephine/Joelle/etc.)
Frankie (Frank/Francesca)
Andy (Andrew/Andrea/Andromeda)
Bernie (Bernard/Bernadette)
Mick/Mickie (Mackenzie/Michelle/Michael)
Ronnie (Robert/Veronica)
Vic/Vickie (Victoria/Victor)
Will (William/Willow/Willa/etc.)
Danny (Daniel/Danielle)
Nick/Nicky (Nicole/Nicholas)
Oli/Ollie (Oliver/Olive/Olivia)
Chris/Kris (Christopher/Christina)
Rickie/Rick (Erica/Eric/etc.)
Cam (Cameron/Camilla/etc.)
Lou (Louise/Louisa/Louis/Lewis/etc.)
Matt/Mattie (Matthew/Matthias/Madison/Matilda/etc.)
Teddie/Teddy/Ted (Theodore/Theodora)

(aubrey plaza, she/her/hers, cisfemale) who is JOHANNA TORRES anyways? ew. you don’t know about HER, we’ll bet you want to. they’re feeling FORTY and WATCHING TRUE CRIME DOCUMENTARIES feels like a perfect night to them. rumor has it they’re SELF-CENTERED and CLOSED-OFF because they care, but they’re also AMBITIOUS and HARD-WORKING in the best way. SHE works to make a little money as a RADIOLOGIST-TURNED MEDICAL SCHOOL LECTURER. they’ve rented a place on cornelia street in the form of A PENTHOUSE. 'TIS THE DAMN SEASON (A) is the song they could dance to the beat of forevermore. (tw for some homophobia, comphet, very minor mentions of religion, and for cancer in the backstory portion!)
basics.
full name: johanna marie torres nicknames: pretty much everyone just calls her jo. joey was her dad's nickname for her, so she's a bit leery of it now (but 'tis the damn season muse B probably can get away with it.) gender/pronouns: cisfemale/she/her/hers sexual orientation: she's like super gay, dude. birthday: october 28th. star sign: scorpios are known to be brave, ambitious, direct...emotional and temperamental. occupation: lecturer/professor at columbia university roy and diana vagelos college of physicians and surgeons. specifically, she teaches 1st and 2nd year medical students anatomy. character inspo: like if addison montgomery (grey's anatomy) & dr. gregory house (house md) had a baby
personality.
positive traits: driven, honest, loyal, courageous, empatthetic. negative traits: jealous, stubborn, sometimes brutally honest, holds grudges, secretive. hogwarts house: i know jkr sucks and we do not claim her but the she is a slytherin. alignment: neutal evil. ennegram: 8w9. personality type: istp.
backstory.
jo was an accident. a product of a prom night fiasco, jo was born to a teen not ready to be a mom...and her dad. her parents never married, but they tried. it turned out, motherhood wasn't for her mom and she skipped town before jo was six months old, leaving her in the very capable hands of her father, joseph.
jo grew up a bit of a daddy's girl. her father didn't know how to braid hair or bake cookies, but he did his best. and along with their extended family, jo grew up healthy and happy. she played sports and did girl scouts, danced ballet and tried the piano for two months, and her dad was there for all of it.
her hometown was small. everyone knew everyone else. in some ways, that was a good thing. jo had a plethora of neighbors and family friends willing to pick up the slack when her father pulled a double at the local automobile factory. but sometimes, it wasn't such a good thing. like when she was twelve and she admitted to liking another girl for the first time and her grandmother heard the rumor at church, of all places, and nearly disowned her.
she learned fairly quickly that in her catholic household, it was best to just...not say gay. so she didn't. she buried that part of her deep down, figuring she just hadn't found the right guy yet. because she couldn't stand the thought that her dad might not look at her the same way if he knew the truth.
jo and 'tis the damn season muse b grew up together. they were best friends, attached at the hip, and largely considered a package deal by their classmates. at first, jo thought it was just the kind of best friendship you saw in movies or read about in books, but as they got older, it got harder and harder to deny what she felt for muse b. so she buried it.
she was a junior in high school when muse b kissed her for the first time. after years of trying to fit herself into a certain box, jo finally felt that spark she'd been dreaming about since she was a little kid. it changed everything for her. she planned to go to college with muse b away from their stifling hometown, but in-state. she was going to be brave. she was going to risk everything.
but then something happened. plans changed. muse b changed their mind. she was going to stay in their hometown, the town jo knew she couldn't be fully herself in. so she ran.
initially, jo was going to study business in college. it seemed like a solid, no-nonsense plan that left a lot of doors open...but plans changed when she got a middle-of-the-night call from her grandmother telling her that her dad was sick.
it turned out that jo's father had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. she dropped everything to come home and care for the man who raised her like he had when she was a kid. his life expectancy was one year due to the spread. he made it eight months. it was the worst eight months of jo's life.
but it did spur her on towards pursuing a career in medicine. the doctors who'd cared for her dad were some of the kindest, most compassionate people jo has ever met. so she returned to UCLA with a new plan. she got her bachelor's degree in biology and went on to attend UCLA's david geffen school of medicine.
at first, jo thought that she'd pursue hematology/oncology after medical school, but during interview season, she decided that radiology was actually a better fit for her. she didn't have to deliver the bad news, but she got to help catch the big, bad things that killed people. win/win.
she completed her residency in radiology in santa clara, california...a year late. she had to take time off for the birth of her son when she was twenty-eight.
she met jake's father as an intern. he was a senior internal medicine resident, and then an attending physician, at kaiser permanente. once again, jo found herself falling into the expectations set for her. she didn't love him, not really, but after a particularly brutal 48 hour call and a few too many dinks, they'd hooked up. nine months later, they welcomed their son. twelve months later, they got married, because that was just what you did.
her husband is a good guy, but he's also a workaholic. he expected jo to become a stay-at-home mom once they had their son, and that just was not happening. jake had a nanny, but he also had two loving (if busy) parents. he's very well adjusted.
the combination of both halves of the marriage being workaholics and jo being, well, gay meant that their marriage has been on the rocks for quite some time. jo didn't return to her hometown often, but when she did, it was oftentimes without her husband and jake. they were short trips. she usually avoided muse b...but they've definitely had a few run-ins during the years.
jo's husband cheated on her. that was her excuse for the separation, anyway. jo herself had been cheating on him for years. she got good at hiding it, but she wasn't able to hide it when her husband caught her at his female best friend (and former college roommate's) hotel room.
now, jo's back in new york, albeit not in her tiny hometown upstate. she tells people she's back because her absentee mother showed back up in her life...only because she'd passed away, too.
apparently, jo's mom did give a shit about her enough to creep on her social media...and leave a fairly sizeable inheritance for jake.
jo and her son are back in town. her estranged husband is still in california (for now). what could possibly go wrong?
connections.
someone bring me anna kendrick. i just think they'd be a hilarious duo as pretty much whatever context, but think of them in "mike and dave need wedding dates".
or like. bring me kristen stewart. because why were they not endgame in happiest season, exactly???
i need the meredith grey to her cristina yang.
and the shauna to jo's tai. a little unhinged but supportive yk?
or! bring me the van to jo's tai!
jake's twelve now, but since they're fairly new to nyc, maybe some of the twenty-somethings want some extra cash by babysitting???
she probably needs a beard because her grandmother is still kicking and has no fucking clue she's as gay as they day is long. applications are open.
if anyone wants to bring jo's hubby i picture him as a pretty decent guy but just kind of a workaholic. it's totally up to you whether he knew that jo had been having trysts for about five years now or if he only found out because of the best friend ordeal. i think in jo's mind they're separated but she probably bailed fairly quickly so like...maybe they're not, actually.
...you could also bring said best friend who jo was probably honestly half in love with for real. female version of mcsteamy, for those so inclined.
#cornelia.intro#//this is my baby and i love her even tho i have had her for one (1) day.#//ty to alyssa for another pretty graphic bc i cannot Do That

Spill the tea on the Parker kids and also Linnet!!! Give us a summary, also hopes, dreams, fears, style, any pets, who their enemies/besties are and any love interest
Thank you, darling anon!!! 💙🫶
Linnet Dove is my latest TVD oc. She’s from the Gemini coven and I’ve taken advantage of the fact that we know literally nothing about Mrs. Parker to weave a connection between her and Linnet’s mother.
She’s ‘pristinely unmagical’ which means that while a witch has magic of her own and a siphon can use other people’s magic, Linnet neither has nor can use magic at all. In fact, she’s kinda like a magic black hole since whatever you throw at her doesn’t work.
I’m still tinkering with precisely how I want this to work since I yonked it from a different fantasy series and magic there works differently. I might want to leave room that she can be turned into a vampire (not saying that I will make her one but considering whether to make that a door instead of a wall) and I'm also still debating on if I will add on any pilfered Alexia Tarabotti's preternatural tricks.
So, the Parkers are obviously in the inner circle of the Gemini coven. Linnet’s mother Cora Mertins grew up on the outer edge. Her parents took in her cousin Mary when Mary’s parents died. Mary and Cora are a year apart and grew up in some ways like sisters.
Shortly after the Merge, Joshua Parker started dating Mary and they married rather quickly. This marriage brought Mary and Cora into the inner circle.
We know the Parkers had eight kids but the middle four are basically blank slates (minus we know a boy was called Joey).
A brief rundown of my Parker kids (besides Kai and Jo obviously):
Bethany, usually called Beth, two years younger than Jo and Kai, blunt and ambitious, she can be kind of a bitch, Linnet’s same-age cousin, resents her lack of attention from her parents, can’t wait to go to college, wants to see the world but would never even fathom leaving the coven;
Benjamin, primarily called Ben, five years younger than Jo and Kai, three years younger than Beth and Linnet, quiet, mild, patient, responsible, very independent, no one dislikes Ben but he’s the same amount of close/distant with all his siblings and no one really knows what’s going on in his head, he loves music and likes to take things apart to see how they tick;
Joseph, mostly called Joey, ten years younger than Jo and Kai, eight years younger than Beth and Linnet, very outgoing, noisy, curious, he’s always been a bit clumsy but going through puberty pushes it into overdrive, has a habit of following his siblings around and wanting to know what they’re doing, Kai minds him doing this least and Beth (& Linnet) mind the most, does not pick up on all social cues (like you have to explicitly tell him to go away or he’ll just follow you around forever);
and Frances, who everyone calls Frannie, fourteen years younger than Jo and Kai, twelve years younger than Beth and Linnet, the baby before Luke and Liv are born, an adorable little cherub, sweet, cuddly, and Linnet’s special pet.
Mary and Cora obviously didn’t plan to have kids the same year but when it happened, they were thrilled, hoping to replicate their own friendship. That’s not really what happened though.
Okay so there’s a lot of gaps in our knowledge about the Gemini coven but based on its cultish nature, the cloaked house on a large, empty stretch of property in Oregon, the expectation for twins to perform the Merge, I think it’s reasonable to assume that the Gemini kids were kept isolated from the outside world and were homeschooled, learning both spells and reading, writing, science, and math.
Linnet and the Parker kids (and any other inner circle kids there might be, I haven’t made a decision on that) were taught by a rotation of the adults around them.
Can you guess which two kids weren’t taught any spells?
Yup, Linnet and Kai.
Both of them think the other has it better. Linnet envies Kai's ability to do magic and Kai envies her treatment by the coven. They slowly develop a friendship based on being on the outside.
Joshua Parker considers Kai dangerous but Linnet doesn't have any magic so she's considered to be 'safe' to leave alone with Kai. In fact, it's to be hoped (although no one thinks it very likely) that she can be a good influence on him.
If they saw what these two were like alone though, those thoughts would very quickly be corrected.
Linnet’s ranking of the Parker sibs would be:
Frannie - the cutest thing in the world, Linnet would like to steal her and take her home to be her sister instead of the Parkers'
Kai - truly too complicated and intense to condense into a few words but they just Get each other on a level that no one else does, they don’t even always need to articulate it out loud, both have a lot of pent up rage, whereas Kai resents his treatment and wants what he sees as being his, Linnet resents being pitied and kept from the world where her lack of magic wouldn’t matter so much, they both want to burn it all down though
Beth - she and Beth get thrown together quite a lot, particularly when they're young, being the same age; when they're really little, Beth having magic while Linnet doesn’t doesn’t matter that much especially since Beth can’t control it too much but once magic lessons start, there’s a gulf between them and it just continues to grow as they get older and time passes
Ben - she likes that he's quiet and keeps to himself; they're not close but she doesn't mind having him around
Jo - it's not that she doesn't like Jo but rather that Jo is the Gemini golden girl and Linnet can't do any magic at all plus although Linnet does know it's not Jo's fault that Linnet doesn't have magic and she can overlook some of that, she also sees how Jo gets favored over both Kai and Beth and one thing about Linnet is that she will hold a grudge longer on someone else's behalf than her own
Joey - she finds him too noisy, too loud, too awkward, too curious; she wants him to just go away and stop bothering her!
I haven't named the fic that stars Linnet and features all the rest of these characters but it starts off in Linnet and Kai's childhood and explores the dynamics between all these characters then continues up to May 10th. Linnet's getting most of the povs, Kai will also get some, and depending on whether it works, I might have an occasional pov from someone else.
That's the first half.
Then I think it'll be one chapter (but we'll see how it flows) of Kai's eighteen (!) years in the prison world.
Then the second half will pick back up with 'current day' (aka TVD season 6) and Kai will take over as main narrator as he seeks revenge, obsesses over Bonnie, and we'll find out with him what Linnet's been up to all this time. Bonnie is (obviously) not a presence in part one at all. She's a biiiig presence in part two.
I hope I did an adequate job with the summary. Trying to stay vague so as to give myself room to change my mind and also not give a ton away. Feel free to ask about anything that was unclear.
The fic's going to be as canon-compliant as I can make it up through post-prison world season 6 and then I'm going to start fiddling and rearranging canon. So, yes, I do hope you get attached to Mary, Beth, Ben, Joey, and Frannie but also yes, they are all going to die.
Linnet's style I see as kind of similar to Legacies!Josie with a dash of early seasons Rory Gilmore but suited to match the 70s-90s. Definitely an 'academic-y' vibe. Studious, etc. Sweet and serious is the vibe she gives off.
Beth is giving skater girl crossed with Frankie Hollingworth's wardrobe with a sprinkling of Aria Montgomery's least outrageous/absurd outfits. Very girl next door-ish unless she's putting in extra effort.
I don't think about guys' fashion too much but hmm, I feel Ben is dressed like 90s!Isaac Lahey and then Joey is not really one set aesthetic, he bounces around, sometimes looking like Oz from Buffy, Archie from Riverdale, and sometimes trying to emulate Kai.
Frannie's being dressed by her mom obviously so like the cutest baby shit you can think of. Not always dressed in 'girl colors' but mostly.
Linnet hopes the real world won't be a disappointment, that not having magic really truly won't matter there. She fears that will be a disappointment, that it will matter, that no one will be able to love her without magic.
Beth knows she won't lead the coven but she hopes she can find some role to stand out in and be of value to the coven. She fears that she won't find some niche and that she's just a failed attempt at producing a new set of twins.
Ben I think would want to travel. So, he hopes that he can be stationed somewhere cool and see lots of places. He fears (especially after his mom's death) that his dad is going to want to keep them all very close at hand.
Joey hopes to be as cool as Kai someday. He fears always being awkward, too loud, uncool.
Cora hopes that Linnet can have an important place under Jo's leadership. She fears that Mary is not sufficiently recovered from Frannie's birth when she becomes pregnant with the twins (lo and behold, she's right).
Okay, so, enemies/besties and love interests are dependent on whether I add in any other inner circle kids or not, so some of these answers are bit subject to change maybe
Linnet's bestie would be either Beth or her pen pal Dawn and then later on Kai
Jo I think is friendly with a lot of people but doesn't actually have a bestie once it's no longer Kai for her
Beth's bestie is either Linnet or the daughter of one of Joshua's inner circle buds
Ben doesn't have a bestie which is fine with him, he'd rather be by himself than spend time with someone he doesn't really, really like
Joey likes Kai best of all, he probably spends most of his time with the son of one of Joshua's inner circle buds if I add them
I think Frannie's in an awkward spot age-wise where all the other parents are finished having kids and the first time parents haven't taken the plunge yet, she does love Linnet though
Kai's bestie would be first Jo and then later Linnet
For Cora and Mary, it's the other one.
I don't think anyone has serious enemies until May 10th. Kai might have some beef with some other inner circle buds, I suppose.
Love interest-wise, I definitely think Jo and Beth have them, I just need to work out where they come from; Ben probably not, though I'm not 100% decided.
Linnet and Kai are each other's (initial/first) love interests. However, this is very much a situational situation. Which is to say, things grow out of their emotional closeness and the fact that each is the other's only not closely related option.
They will always love each other, however, they're not going to be endgame.
The last character I haven't yet talked about is Isaac, Linnet's dad. And part of the reason is that he's probably the least developed so far. Still working on him. However, what I have so far is that he's like very normal. Obviously he's still a witch, still grew up in a cult/commune but like of all the Gemini, he's the most normal.
Like Mary and Cora, he grew up on the edge of the coven but he doesn't see being part of the inner circle as an improvement. He wants Linnet to have as normal of a childhood as possible and encourages her when she wants to do 'normal teenage stuff' like go to the movies.
He and Linnet share a love of cats and they have a black kitty called Koldun who doesn't like anyone but the two of them.
Isaac finds Joshua very shady and is skeptical of his decisions but he keeps his mouth and doesn't volunteer his opinion unless it's asked. He likes Mary quite a lot though. Definitely wishes Mary had married someone more obscure.
He and Cora would have liked to have had more children after Linnet but it just didn't work out. They both love her intensely.
Obviously Linnet is my favorite of the bunch but if you have any more questions about Beth, Ben, Joey, Frannie, Mary, Cora, or Isaac, you can totally ask about them as well!
And again, thanks so much for asking! I hope this was interesting to read, answered your questions, and was not information overload. 😅

[ aubrey plaza, ciswoman, she/her/hers ] — spotted in the streets of brooklyn, it’s JOHANNA "JO" RAMOS. they have lived in the city for SIX MONTHS, working as a DOCTOR PROFESSOR OF ANATOMY AT COLUMBIA SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. the 40 year old will probably be seen around PARK SLOPE a lot, seeing as that’s where they live. people say they can be a bit SELF-CENTERED and CLOSED-OFF, but friends know them to be HARD-WORKING and AMBITIOUS. you know for sure you’ve found them when you’ve come across LATE NIGHTS, CIGARETTE SMOKE, AND TRUE-CRIME PODCASTS. welcome to brooklyn, it’s been waiting for you! (tw for some internalized homophobia, parental death/cancer below!!!)
Basics.
full name: johanna marie ramos nicknames: pretty much everyone just calls her jo. joey was her dad's nickname for her, so she's a bit leery of it now (but some closest to her can probably get away with it) gender/pronouns: cisfemale/she/her/hers sexual orientation: she's like super gay, dude. birthday: october 28th. star sign: scorpios are known to be brave, ambitious, direct...emotional and temperamental. occupation: lecturer/professor at columbia university roy and diana vagelos college of physicians and surgeons. specifically, she teaches 1st and 2nd year medical students anatomy. she is a physician, specializing in general surgery, but not currently practicing. character inspo: like if addison montgomery (grey's anatomy) & dr. gregory house (house md) had a baby
Backstory.
jo was an accident. a product of a prom night fiasco, jo was born to a teen not ready to be a mom...and her dad. her parents never married, but they tried. it turned out motherhood wasn't for her mom and she skipped town before jo was six months old, leaving her in the very capable hands of her father, joseph.
jo grew up a bit of a daddy's girl. her father didn't know how to braid hair or bake cookies, but he did his best. and along with their extended family, jo grew up healthy and happy. she played sports and did girl scouts, danced ballet and tried the piano for two months, and her dad was there for all of it.
her hometown in a new york suburb was small. everyone knew everyone else. in some ways, that was a good thing. jo had a plethora of neighbors and family friends willing to pick up the slack when her father pulled a double at the local automobile factory. but sometimes, it wasn't such a good thing. like when she was twelve and she admitted to liking another girl for the first time and her grandmother heard the rumor at church, of all places, and nearly disowned her.
she learned fairly quickly that in her catholic household, it was best to just...not say gay. so she didn't. she buried that part of her deep down, figuring she just hadn't found the right guy yet. because she couldn't stand the thought that her dad might not look at her the same way if he knew the truth.
jo and had a really special childhood best friend, attached at the hip, and largely considered a package deal by their classmates. at first, jo thought it was just the kind of best friendship you saw in movies or read about in books, but as they got older, it got harder and harder to deny what she felt for her. so she buried it.
she was a junior in high school when her best friend kissed her for the first time. after years of trying to fit herself into a certain box, jo finally felt that spark she'd been dreaming about since she was a little kid. it changed everything for her. she planned to go to college with her best friend away from their stifling hometown, but in-state. she was going to be brave. she was going to risk everything.
but then something happened. plans changed. her best friend changed their mind or maybe jo did. either way, they ended up going to separate schools across the country from one another. her friend was going to stay in their hometown, the town jo knew she couldn't be fully herself in. so she ran.
initially, jo was going to study business in college. it seemed like a solid, no-nonsense plan that left a lot of doors open...but plans changed when she got a middle-of-the-night call from her grandmother telling her that her dad was sick.
it turned out that jo's father had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. she dropped everything to come home and care for the man who raised her like he had when she was a kid. his life expectancy was one year due to the spread. he made it eight months. it was the worst eight months of jo's life.
but it did spur her on towards pursuing a career in medicine. the doctors who'd cared for her dad were some of the kindest, most compassionate people jo has ever met. so she returned to UCLA with a new plan. she got her bachelor's degree in biology and went on to attend UCLA's david geffen school of medicine.
at first, jo thought that she'd pursue hematology/oncology after medical school, but during her third year rotations she decided that surgery was actually a better fit for her. she thrived in the operating room. and she got to save lives. win/win.
she completed her residency in surgery in santa clara, california...a year late. she had to take time off for the birth of her son when she was twenty-eight.
she met jake's father as an intern. he was a senior internal medicine resident, and then an attending physician, at kaiser permanente. once again, jo found herself falling into the expectations set for her. she didn't love him, not really, but after a particularly brutal 48 hour call and a few too many dinks, they'd hooked up. nine months later, they welcomed their son. twelve months later, they got married, because that was just what you did.
her husband is a good guy, but he's also a workaholic. he expected jo to become a stay-at-home mom once they had their son, and that just was not happening. jake had a nanny, but he also had two loving (if busy) parents. he's very well adjusted.
the combination of both halves of the marriage being workaholics and jo being, well, gay meant that their marriage has been on the rocks for quite some time. jo didn't return to her hometown often, but when she did, it was oftentimes without her husband and jake. they were short trips.
jo's husband cheated on her. that was her excuse for the separation, anyway. jo herself had been cheating on him for years. she got good at hiding it, but she wasn't able to hide it when her husband caught her at his female best friend (and former college roommate's) hotel room.
now, jo's back in new york, albeit not in her tiny hometown upstate. she tells people she's back because her absentee mother showed back up in her life...only because she'd passed away, too.
apparently, jo's mom did give a shit about her enough to creep on her social media...and leave a fairly sizable inheritance for jake.
jo and her son are back in town. her estranged husband is still in california (for now). what could possibly go wrong?
connections.
someone bring me anna kendrick. i just think they'd be a hilarious duo as pretty much whatever context, but think of them in "mike and dave need wedding dates".
or like. bring me kristen stewart. because why were they not endgame in happiest season, exactly???
i need the meredith grey to her cristina yang.
and the shauna to jo's tai. a little unhinged but supportive yk?
or! bring me the van to jo's tai!
jake's twelve now, but since they're fairly new to nyc, maybe some of the twenty-somethings want some extra cash by babysitting???
she probably needs a beard because her grandmother is still kicking and has no fucking clue she's as gay as they day is long. applications are open.
if anyone wants to bring jo's hubby i picture him as a pretty decent guy but just kind of a workaholic. it's totally up to you whether he knew that jo had been having trysts for about five years now or if he only found out because of the best friend ordeal. i think in jo's mind they're separated but she probably bailed fairly quickly so like...maybe they're not, actually.
...you could also bring said best friend who jo was probably honestly half in love with for real. female version of mcsteamy, for those so inclined.

If I was born male I'd probably be solidly nonbinary & go by "Jo"
#I don't know just. I'm not attached enough to womanhood to think I'd be a trans woman? but I feel like I'd Definitely lean more feminine#& I would have been named 'Joseph' & I'd feel pettily satisfied about stealing 'Joe' from my father#& it would make my Full name Schrodinger's Josephine#or Josie or JoJo or Joseph or Josepha or Joey or etc etc#would have been a great opportunity is all I'm saying#I've always been mildly miffed that my own name doesn't really have a lot of diminutive potential & I genuinely like 'Jo' as a name#alternate universe ships passing in the night

Aight bestie, I thought of something lol. Remember those ideas we made?
What if MC had a a child and they both decide to visit Joseph at work. And Joseph, Jean, and the other crew members are in costume and having a grand ol' time, but they're cussing like there's no tomorrow. And all the sudden, they hear a child's voice going "Mama/Papa, they're saying bad words!"
How'd all of that go down in your writing? 🤣
Ooh, I hate you so much. Let's write it ehehe! You and your little kiddo decided to meet Joseph on his break. You pack everything, and you drive, not telling him at all about your surprise visit. You were let inside with no pressure. As you walk up to "behind the scenes" of everything, you begin to hear some familiar voices. As you walk around the corner, the Sunny Time Crew arise! Not noticing you're there, however. Or with your kid.
"Lord, I can't wait to get out of this stripey, frilly 'lil thing! It's so damn itchy, I just wanna rip it off n' some shit like that."
"Oh please, you think your costume design was bad, it feels like I'm wearin' three cor-seyys! My tits hurt! My back feels like you took out my spine and broke it in on your kitchen counter!"
"You ladies are overreactin'-"
"Oh shut it! You got the most comfortable style outta all of us! You fuckin' big hurley, no good hurdle!" "Hurdle now? That's interestin' babe." "At least you guys aren't bombarded with sexually repressed mothers 24/7! Lord it's so hard to stay in character, when you're sweatin' like a sinner in church! Holy shit, it feels like yer' running a whorehouse underneath your 'in laws basement!"
"An' what's so 'wong with that?! I'm still single and I try! All you gotta do is turn right 'round and all them sexy fucker mothers come runnin'! You scared of women in their prime, Joey?"
"Aw, our poor baby! Oooh! It's an older woman! How terrifying~!" "Yeah, c'mon Joe. You can't tell me you haven't ravished one of them baby makers right before or after a gig!" "Women in their prime are terrifyin'! It's not like I can run away when I haveta stay like 'Jack' in front of their kids!" "So you're sayin' that you ain't never ask a mother who has three sons if she wanted 'nother one?" "Yeah Jojo, you ain't never been enchanted by one of these baby mammas?" "It's not like..not one of dem mothers ain't worth enchantin'! Shiiit, you'd have me starin' at a few of them, saliviatin'! C'mooon Joey! You needa get laid sometime! Hook up with a special someone~~!" "C'mon clown man, there's so many women who wanna honk your horn~" "L-Listen, I already have a special someone! They're reallll purty, I'll tell ya that much!" "You don' do any of those baby makin' processes yet? You know, have a kid of yer own?" "Tell us you ain't a virgin Jo! Tell us!" "Mommy/Daddy.. What's a virgin?"
Your kid asks, turning to face you. The room goes dead silent as the entire crew slowly turns their head. "Joseph." "Hey baby! I-I didn't except you to c-come over!" "Oh shit, Joseph you right! Yours is real purty." "Woo! Go Joe the Hoe-! Always knew that ass of yers was gonna catch someone outta your league!"
"Hey y'all there's kiddos present!"
How sweet, just so you know, all of them gon' get their ass beat. And on the way home, this kids swearin' up a storm. Heavy chance of potty mouth.
