i got my isbn today for the book. 8 months to go. my mom and i were talking about what the next steps are. i was eating trail mix, standing on one foot, phone tucked into my ear.

"yeah," i said. "the problem is that tumblr as a market is like, not something that can be studied." there's this weird wave of nostalgia and affection for this place that came up over me: how lovely we avoid consumerism. okay, it sucks as a creator. but also? keep stickin' it to 'em.

my mother made the sound at the back of her throat that i also make, the one that means i've got an idea. "you should figure out some kind of reward for presale amounts. maybe you give out poems or a mug or a signed book or something. would your followers like that?" my mother is sweet, and kind, and i have no idea how to explain on this website you can buy someone crabs.

i put more m&ms down the hatch. i had to speak through peanuts and almonds. "if it passes 25 thousand i will print the book out in its entirety and eat it live on camera."

"oh god. no, you don't have to do that." she was anguished. "just tell them that you'd love them to read it, and that they've inspired you to write. you got started on that site, and they helped you keep going. raquel, you love these people. the community? you talk all the time about the other writers and artists and whatever else. tell them that you're hoping for their support, they'll come through."

"no," i assured her. i discovered i had dropped an m&m, but an ant had already found it, so it belonged to him now. i will let his little life have a surprise blue treasure in it, too. "i'm gonna fuckin' eat the book."

I just started reading the svsss volumes (and re-read them again because A LOT IS GOING ON) but like. This shit is so hysterically funny I don't even know where to begin.

It's one thing to see people joke about sqq and lbh being unable to communicate but it's on a league of its own when you have to read HUNDREDS OF PAGES of sqq's inner monologue be like 'that's my darling boy. my baby. my sugar plum pumpy umpkin you're my sweetie pie' but on the outside he says "get lost binghe" and somehow deems that an effective expression of his affection that lbh will surely understand. 'Why is lbh whining and crying and tugging at my sleeve like a plaintive wife, why is he so angry?' Sqq asks, the entire circus, as lbh is about to fling himself off a cliff for attention--

In short, MXTX is the queer comedian of our generation and nobody appreciates her enough

i am so fucking proud of how big the iwtv fandom now is... i just opened tiktok for the first time in 6 months cuz i dont have a phone and was bombarded by great iwtv fan content, we now have multiple analysis with diverse content creators, cosplays, memes, shitposting, the loumand fight scene rehashed endlessly! i remember discovering iwtv on a random post on reddit when i was researching about the history of vampires and it only had 2 episodes by then. I searched up iwtv on tiktok and i could literally scroll down to the end of the posts one month later after finishing the whole series. i was aware that it had very good critic response and already has a cult following because of anne rice (duh) but the energy was not coming from gen z which is weird for me since i was constantly surrounded by genz-esque content which is what present day tiktok iwtv fandom is like. i watched all the reactions of it which was roughly 6 youtubers and majority came from finishing the movie version (i personally hadnt watched it even now) but now i see 100k likes on a tiktok???? like the iwtv deserves all the attention they get, i dont care if yall want to be gatekeepers but attention is good when it comes to this. i got emotional scrolling through the endless content about toxic gay vampires on tiktok and i just hope we keep this momentum up. i love this cast and this story they are telling, never die!

I keep making the joke that pulling up to Griffin Rock is the closest thing to a vacation Optimus ever gets, and that's true like 90% of the time when there's a crossover episode, but man. Getting trapped in an alternate dystopian timeline for a bit must have left some interesting emotional scars.

After spending so much time watching dimension 20 I seriously don’t think I’ll ever be able to tolerate regular tv. My little gay heart has never seen this kind of queer representation in tv and it is nourishing my soul. And queerness is never the butt of any joke and the characters experiencing and figuring out their sexualities isn’t always sad and dramatic.

I have never related to something so much. This silly show of just a bunch of cool actor friends playing D&D has probably changed my life: I feel like I know who I am better now???

I am eternally grateful to Brennan Lee Mulligan and literally every person involved in Dimension 20 for giving us this show and this outlet to figure ourselves out. Also gonna be eternally annoyed with Dimension 20 every time I have to watch a straight romcom - give me gay wizards and fairies and candy people any day
