Looks like I’m the one who misunderstood, but the mental image is still hilariously funny even without Zhongli. When I read it, I thought Lumine had gotten an opportunity for Zhongli to meet/talk to Rukkadevata because she had a temporary opening and needed the assistance- short term but would allow him to do whatever he needed concerning the goddess of wisdom. But yeah the idea of Rukkadevata being like idk send me your most autistic little man and looking at Alhaitham like. Him. That’s perfect let’s go- still very fun
rukkhadevata was the professor at one of alhaitham's classes during his last years at the akademiya and she spent the entire course side-eyeing him and his work like you. you boy. do you have any plans after you graduate? i know you broke up w your little friend. i have a job for you. i'll sponsor your thesis and your 20 languages quota world tour. what's in it for you after that? well how about i hire you straight out of the akademiya to be my assistant. i'll pay you [this much]. i'm glad to see we're on the same page here

i really do enjoy nahida sooo much conceptually shes 100% my favorite archon i just wish she wasnt the lolibait oneeeeeeeeee
#LIKE MANNNNNNN#her depiction as a child isnt even bad in of itself its actually so thematically coherent &strong given her status as the goddess of wisdom#& how it works to subvert the cultural expectation of what intelligence is expected to look like in the first place#so much of her as a character subverts what a god is ''supposed'' to be what with her existing as a counterpart to#rukkhadevata who is in essence everyone's ideal version of a god#despite the fact that rukkhadevata has long been dead & the idea of her as a god is basically no longer attainable#nahida is a god who was neglected entirely By humanity a god who was forcibly isolated for so so many years#AND LIKE OUGHHH THE THING ABOUT HER WRT ISOLATION VERSUS CONNECTION#because wisdom is all about connection & community & linking each other hand in hand#and this is emulated literally all throughout nahidas Entire character right down to how her kit functions#these unspeakable voids that exist between people the way people isolate themselves#& nahida and her entire deal basically acting as a bridge between that#a facilitator for kindness and understanding#whether its through dreams or the Very Literally Mind Reading & Mind Speaking Ability She Has#& all of this really coming back full circle to how she was isolated and trapped in a birdcage for all those years#with nothing But those fragile connections keeping her attached to this world#a world that had forsaken her from the very moment she was born#i just really love the concept of ''god'' less as an authoritative figure on a throne and more as this intangible connection between people#god is in the way we hold hands with one another in the way we try to understand each other despite it all#SORRY. MY RAMBLINGS

fontaines archon quest is probably the first time in genshin that replaying it gives you a new context of how furina acts like its crazy...watching my oomf play when i finished and seeing furina almost on the verge on a breakdown even on the first acts when most people thought she was just the typical chuniibyou ojousama in charge...crazy.
YEAH like... god it's really crazy especially with furina's initial approach at trying to be the archon like... What could have been her own way of doing it if the crowd hadn't immediately shot down her attempt at being genuine . Like how different that was from the way she had to act for the following 500 years... Man.🧍‍♂️
#asks#anonymous#they really have come a long way from the first few arcs#like. mondstadt was clearly a prelude and liyue was funny enough but neither of them was especially emotionally impactful#inazuma sucked ass beyond belief sorry.#sumeru was better to me like the deal with nahida and rukkhadevata was interesting and i liked dottore cameo and like#at least it felt like all the characters involved like. had a purpose and knew each other#because a lot of what bothered me about inazuma was also like how disjointed the cast felt and how superfluous like half of the cast was#like the resistance was so fucking pointless they didn't do anything and i didn't give a fuck about the random npc soldier either#while like... at least dunyarzad in sumeru was more interesting and they handled the theme of like...#terminal illness and chronic illness decently enough#in inazuma i legit wws like who the fuck is this again whenever teppei showed up and the story acted like we were supposed to know him#while like#I'm sooo glad that in fontaine they focused mainly on the playable cast and made them have interesting dynamics amongst each other#AND made them also like. all be present during furina's trial (except wrio and sigewinne i guess but like. that's fine. their deal IS that#they're a bit isolated from the outside world)#or i mean ig sigewinne did show up but she hsrdly said much#like sorry idk why both in inazuma and sumeru they tried to stick a random npc in there tyat we were supposed to get attached to for no#reason. instead of giving more development to the playable characters? and as i said i didn't even mine dunyarzad much because at least#she had like. a purpose in the story.#anyway sorry that i put my longer response in the tag instead of the actual post#ALSO. this gives me high hopes for snezhnaya. god please please be good I've been hyped about genshin russia since i got into the game#I'm not even thinking about natlan I'm scared it's gonna be racist again#anyway.#bye

Genshin event where we go to an alternate universe where King Deshret and the Goddess of Flowers are still alive, though Rukkhadevatta died at the Cataclysm.
The setting is a few decades after the Cataclysm, with the gods being confused as to why Kusanali has been so hostile towards their people.
Traveler and Paimon: Ah shit here we go again
Traveler: So Kusanali is basically a kid at this point and the sages decided to lock her up because they think she is useless...
Deshret and Godess of Flowers: WHAT.
Next thing you know there is an entire nation and its gods ready to beat up the sages and rescue Nahida, the Traveler is just happy that they can fight the ones who caused the situation in the first place instead of just Azar.

my upcoming genshin impact comparison issssss
star crossed myth MC and nahida!!!
[MAJOR spoilers here][be warned]
When I woke up, I was riding in a flower carriage. I'd just had a dream...I dreamed it was my birthday.
In the dream, the Knight of Flowers and his retainers found me, "Oh Archon, we've finally found you! The people can't wait to meet you."
-
In the end, I'm just the Moon. The real Sun is long gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
to be frank i dont remember much of mcs personality because its been so long since i played it lol so this comparison might not be very accurate but idrc because this has been my brainrot for weeks and i love these characters a lot so lets begin
theyre both incredibly compassionate, caring and wonderful in their own way — mc as the former goddess of fate and nahida (lesser lord kusanali) as the god of wisdom. funnily enough the aranara that are considered to be nahidas friends and the children of the forest can be considered as the zodiac gods bc theyre all very silly silly😍
to start with, the goddess of fate chose to sacrifice herself by offering the stars in her eyes to save the earth(even this information is a bit fuzzy im sorry💀 scm fans will know) and became a mortal in her next life. greator lord rukkhadevata chose to sacrifice her power in helping the scarlet king eradicate forbidden knowledge, causing her to exhaust her powers and her form to turn into that of a child's.
by being there for irminsul as the cataclysm happened in khaenriah, she knew irminsul was plagued by the forbidden knowledge because she too, was infected by it. being connected to irminsul meant that unless she herself was removed from it, forbidden knowledge would continuously flow into the world in forms of eleazar and the withering. so - she chose the healthiest branch on irminsul and broke it off, creating a new form of life with it — now known as nahida. the message and clue she left all the way back, amidst khaenriah's destruction, explained how she full heartedly knew that she would have to disappear from this world and from irminsul to save it.
Tumblr media
mc's selflessness i feel would lead her to do this exact thing before choosing to disappear, "let the world completely forget me". though she knew it would be heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved the goddess of fate - especially for the new form of herself that she would've created, she would stay until the very last moment, comforting the new goddess and reassuring her, (rukkhadevata telling nahida that nobody can know what kind of archon she would grow up to be, telling her that she might just become even greater than she was because nahida looked up to the greater lord so much...it just screams goddess of fate for me) telling her that she's found her own answer and can lead her nation with great power and kindness ("I'm the one who posed this question, yet also the one who sought a solution...saving the world with the dreams of the people used to be my answer, and now, you've also found your own answer, and I shall return all the dreams to the people"), it's all so...mc to me. both as lesser lord kusanali and greater lord rukkhadevata.
if you read through that all THANK YOU idk what came over me this is so long 💀probably because ive been so in love with this lore dump aNd because its about one of the major characters im talking about lol

I've been once again maining Klee throughout this Veluriyam Mirage questline a nd while exploring the mirage, both because I did get her skin, but also because it cheers me up so much to see her having fun.
#also the oceanid lore is incredible#I was right when I once said to someone that the oceanids are going to play some part in Fontaine#every summer event so far has been a sort of a preview to certain aspects of the next regions mechanics and/or archon quest#Maguu Kenki and Kazuha's involvement as well as the waverider being obvious for Inazuma in the first golden apple archipelago event#in the second one it was the 'dream state' thing which became a whole feature as the samsara in sumeru archon quest and with aranara etc#also some puzzle mechanics from 2.8 were adopted in sumeru though not in the exact same ways#now I'm suspecting it's the carnival & theatre themes and the oceanid lore at the very least- likely other stuff as well#I also am pretty certain about oceanids because the game has been fairly consistent about talking about their migration#I would not be surprised if we got another extra-long world quest series that had to do with them#and actually I do think oceanids WILL play some part in the archon quest as well especially since it's BECAUSE of focalors that they left#and so far practically every archon has had some kind of a personal growth journey during their respective quests#Ei being the most obvious one but I do think every archon quest is a representation of the archons' ideals#and the archons having to come face to face with the world changing and them having to 'adjust' their ideals somewhat because#the traveler's company to them lets them heal and see things from different perspectives#Venti wasn't quite so obvious but I do feel like it's a matter of his return and some aspects of what is and isn't true freedom#Zhongli did most of the introspection himself so that wasn't as obvious either but it's more to do about rule and status and the importance#of roles of deities and so on#while Inazuma is so obvious I don't really need to elaborate. Ei's idea of eternity was idiotic and she came to realize it. thats all#while Nahida... I think she sort of grew emotionally wiser in some ways because of the whole Rukkhadevata thing even though#she herself doesn't remember it at all#that's why I think ultimately archon quests ARE about the archons themselves and not really the traveler#the traveler has their own archon quest series after all#it's sometimes easy to forget the real point of the quests is not the traveler but rather the travel/journey itself#while travelers own archon quests are their & their sibling's own journey in a similar way#anyway.#just some evening thoughts I had#chalk thoughts

Thinking about Rukkhadevata’s design again in Genshin and how fucking bleak it is. It makes me upset because after Nahida was leaked, I thought the ORIGINAL Dendro Archon was going to look completely different and take actual inspiration from SWANA, because to me she was the TRUE Dendro Archon. I was looking forward to her so much, only to be dismayed when I realised Nahida is the actual Archon, and especially broken up about how Rukkhadevata looked. She is just… nothing. She’s beautiful, sure. But she’s just. Nothing.
She didn’t even have to be that pale!! Nahida/Kusanali (can’t remember which name) is said to be very pale in mythology which, okay fine, make her pale, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ORIGINAL AND HER PREDECESSOR? SHE DIDN’T NEED TO LOOK LIKE A GROWN VERSION OF HER OMG.
#genshin impact#Nahida#rukkhadevata#I actually still feel betrayed over this#we could’ve had it all. it could’ve been so good#I clearly put WAAY too much faith in Hoyo#I’m not even from SWANA but I was looking forward to Sumeru SO MUCH#but they gave us tired orientalist tropes and complete lack of care for visual elements#it’s just so disappointing. I really wanted to love the Dendro Archon but I can’t completely bc of what we got#like it could’ve been so good to see soemthing so visually diverse especially in a genshin character#fuck I was really looking forward to rukkhadevata and actually tricked myself that she would be different#I’m sure it’s because I love how genshin showed fantasy through different cultures. Mondstat was very run of the mill European fantasy#and getting to see Liyue was so enthralling for the first time bc I had never played a fantasy game with heavy Chinese inspiration#with both the setting. music. and characters/designs of them. same with Inazuma but to a lesser extent#bc I was more familiar with Japanese iconography (even then they didn't get the time periods right with Inazuma and Mond was mishmashed too#so SUMERU? I was so looking forward to how diverse the characters would look BC IVE NEVER SEEN THAT IN HIGH FANTASY BEFORE#only for that be totally crushed#now I have a big interest in SWANA. I never have it much thought before but genshin gave that to me#and also Gnosticism (also thanks to FFVII lol)#sumeru and SWANA representation deserve(d) so much better and way more respect in video games and other media#I’d love to see a story one day that faithfully adapts myth and legend and mixes it with accurate design

“You know the rules,” he said in a low voice, his fingers tapping against the table. “Read the book out loud, and if you make a mistake, you get punished”.
Your cheeks flushed at the thought, but you nodded, knowing what was expected of you. You took a deep breath and began to read, trying to keep your voice steady as Alhaitham's fingers started to trace patterns on your thigh.

But as you read on, his fingers crept higher and higher, teasingly brushing against your inner thighs. You squirmed in your seat, trying to focus on the words on the page, but it was becoming increasingly difficult with Alhaitham's distracting touches.
“Well go on? Your exam is tomorrow. Keep your eyes forward.”
Greater Lord Rukkhadevata comes to th-“
“Pay attention,” he chastised, his lips quirking into a smirk. “You don't want to mess up, do you?”

'N-no, of course not,' you stammered, your voice shaking as his fingers inched closer to your core.

“Then read properly,” he said in a low growl, bringing his fingers to brush against your damp panties. You bit your lip to stifle a moan as he continued to tease you, his eyes darkening with desire.

You took a deep breath and continued to read, your voice trembling with the effort to focus. But as he slipped a finger underneath your panties and finally made contact with your clit, you couldn't help but let out a loud moan.

“That's it,” he purred, his voice sending shivers down your spine. “Just like that”.

You continued to read, every word stuttered and moaned as Alhaitham expertly pleasured you with his fingers. And each time you made a mistake, he would push his finger against your clit and make you cross your legs feverishly; making the pleasure and pain mix together in a deliciously torturous combination.

You were a mess by the time you reached the end of the chapter, your body trembling with the force of your orgasm denied over and over, brought to the edge multiple times just to be reeled back in. Alhaitham leaned in close, his breath hot against your neck as he whispered in your ear.

“Good girl,” he praised, pressing a soft kiss to your lips. “But we're not done yet.”

With that, he pushed you back onto the couch, kneeling down before you and parting your legs.
“Read the next chapter.” His green eyes demanding your obedience.
You shaking picked up the book, as trailed kisses and licks along your inner thighs, slowly teasing his way towards your clothes folds, hooking them to the side and looking at the wet mess you’d been sitting in.
“The…largest categorical accumulati- Ah!- Alhaitham….”
You eyes roll back, feeling his tongue lick a stride up your folds.
Smack. “Start over.”
He soothes the stinging on the slap he gave your pussy, but you have to fight to the urge to wrap your legs around the back of his head and make him apologize even more.
You pant, biting your bottom lip before continuing your declination of reading skills: too focused on the way he was spreading open your folds with two fingers as he sucked and licked your clit, two other fingers opening your hole as they curled up into your g-spot.
You slowly drop the book from your hand, babbling nonsensical words and phrases as he smothered his face in your soaking cunt; grinding against his face for more friction.
“haitham- please! so close…”
He took your begging into his good graces, motivating you for more once you ace your test; giving you a taste of what’s to come.
And as you lay there, panting and spent, Alhaitham looked up at you with a satisfied smile.
“Now, back to studying,” he said with a gleam in his eye, picking up the book and flipping to the next page as you drool.

Ascent to Oblivion part 2 - echoes of regret
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He wanted you to awaken, yet he’s not sure why. Maybe he wanted answers. A reasonable explanation for your absurd actions.
Notes: Ahhhhh, I'm finally free again! I'm so sorry for not posting for a while, I was busy. Anyways, thank you so much for being patient with me. Part 2 is finally outttt. Also, tried a new writing style? I decided to go for less editing on this one, I want to see if it's better in terms of writing emotions. Thank you for 100 followers btw. You guys are the best <33
Warning: reader is not traveler btw, scara's pov after the battle, slight angst?
Tumblr media
Peace was a luxury that Scaramouche could never afford.
How could he, when the treachery was etched in the steps of his past ?
Yet the solitude that submerged the city of Sumeru leaves a bitter taste resting on his tongue. He settled beside a statue of the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, overlooking the city she once presided over. The region he was supposed to subjugate and bend to his will.
For once, he’ll be the one exercising control, toying with the strings of his very own marionette play. He’ll devote himself to the role of the puppeteer, finding delight in engineering the people to act according to his words and his words alone. To constrain them to kneel and beg for mercy, manipulating their resolve for his own amusement.
But alas, it was not meant to be. For he had been defeated by a pesky Traveler and their idiotic companions.
Scaramouche’s face soured.
What a disgrace.
His sharp eyes remained its scornful glare at the city. He can not stand staring at the tranquility he yearned to have. The gentle winds that rushed his way seemed to mock him further . It left a lingering caress on his cheek, offering a taste of what he’d been missing for 500 years. He scowls, the hatred evident in his features. A flurry of fallen leaves soon crashed in his direction, dancing away as it avoided him to catch up with the gust of air. One such leaf had landed on your face though, as you lay asleep beside him. He had almost forgotten he brought you here on a whim, despite the Lesser Lord Kusanali’s warnings.
Their conversation was still fresh in his mind. Having visited you a few times everyday, the Dendro Archon’s attention was caught. She harbored a small smile on her tiny face, her voice warm as usual.
“You don’t have to come here everyday you know?”
He recalls sighing in reply, “I know.”
“But I have to”
Have to, huh?
His answer never really made sense, even to him. He doesn't know why he possessed such a strong obligation to see you. Maybe it had something to do with the turmoil of emotions he was experiencing, raging in his non-existent heart and influencing his thoughts. He wanted you to awaken, yet he’s not sure why.
Maybe he wanted answers. A reasonable explanation for your absurd actions.
Scara still remembers that day. Every single detail. He can’t forget how your body pressed against his, the metallic red a cool contrast to his overheating skin. The way your arms encompassed around him, squeezing him tightly like you were terrified he’d vanish without a trace. He recounts the smash of the debris falling on you, a consequence you suffered for attempting to shield him from danger.
A stupid move, really.
He was a puppet, a mere rubble like that was not a threat to his utility. Yet you , with all your mortal characteristics, decided to play hero and shelter him from it. Now look where that got you.
Asleep .
For two whole weeks.
Why even bother doing something like that? He wasn’t someone you’d want to save. He had hurt you prior to his fall, yet with no hesitation, you jumped to catch him.
…You dumbass.
What’s so special about him anyways?
He was nothing more than a discarded puppet, a vessel that was tossed away. A broken doll who's shattered pieces had crumbled to dust, leaving behind a shell of who he once was.
What part of him was worthy of your adoration? To the point where you disregard your safety just to come to his rescue?
He was insignificant.  A failure . A worthless scrap of metal.
The despairing sobs he vocalized that day served as a reminder that his existence was a mistake. He plummeted to a time in the past when a shed tear sealed his fate to be discarded. He expected you to do the same.
Yet you didn't .
You didn't abdicate him. You didn't push him away. You simply emboldened your hold and refused to let go. Your touch brought such fervor ardor he had never felt before, a fleeting emotion that loiters within his senses despite the passage of time. Your touch provided him the solace he'd been searching for. But did he even deserve that comfort?
He eyes your complexion, and his chest burns. What a cruel play by fate, charming the wires of affection out of his grasp and awarding it to you like a trophy.
If only you didn't catch him, then he wouldn't be this troubled.
If only you let him fall.
If only you never cared.
The burn starts to grow, the searing sting tormenting the foundation of his being. His stomach lurches, oh how badly he wants to throw up. Maybe he'll end up vomiting all these useless feelings too.
He wills to change the past, for a preferable outcome in the future. If he never existed, this dilemma would cease to exist. He wouldn’t have to suffer, and you would go on your merry way. Like a parallel line, your paths would never be bound to meet. Maybe then, you wouldn’t be asleep in the first place. Maybe you’d be out there somewhere, roaming Teyvat with the Traveler without the hindrance of his presence.
His existence bordered between pain and fury anyway, and he knew more than anyone how it was certainly a life not worth prevailing.
With a sigh, Scara narrowed those eyes of his in your direction. How dare you look so peaceful when he's over here, drenched in a scorching passion of self-hatred? The audacity to just remain there, with your pretty eyes closed, and not bother doing anything about it. He huffs, ready to hurl more insults at you. Maybe you’ll wake up from it, returning his jabs as you shoot him a dirty look. And yet…
“Sorry…”
Something entirely different tumbled out of his mouth. He blinks, barely registering the phrases ripped from his throat. Did he just-
“...I’m sorry”
Why was he apologizing? What was there to apologize for? He wanted to slander you for your interference in his life, not to beg for forgiveness.
A drop of water descends onto your cheek. Huh?
Was it starting to rain?
“...You idiot”
He stops. Has he always sounded like that? Strained… and distressed?
And why was his vision blurring?
“Please…”
The pang of discomfort bites him without a warning, and it hurts. It hurts so bad. His trembling hands reach out to you. He wants to nuzzle against your arms again, to have you drown out his sorrows in an act of intimacy he’s been longing for.
“Please wake up already”

The Traveler being around is probably good for Furina. In Marcel's trial, we see Melus and Silver speculate on why Furina's suddenly taking everything way more seriously--and they think it's either because the Traveler humiliated her, or because she's so embarrassed and horrified by pressing charges against an innocent.
In a way, I feel like the people of Fontaine kinda encourage Furina to act as she does--spoiled and immature, dumping responsibility on Neuvilette and the Oratrice. But she also encourages them to not question the justice system, by struggling so hard to put on a show and save face. It's something of a vicious cycle. The people treat her as a celebrity and only really expect her to amuse and reassure them, not actually DO anything. So she's encouraged to act like a bratty and spoiled child. But the Traveler being around is someone who's NOT impressed or amused by her--and, even better, they're someone she really, really does WANT to impress, who she greatly respects. The Traveler will treat Furina as a person and an Archon, and force her to take responsibility for her people and actions. 'Cause like, she sucks at her job and needs to either take responsibility or find a way to retire like Zhongli. But also I feel like she's probably kinda lonely.
Like. Venti and Zhongli are highly respected and beloved by their people, and are the most proactive and responsible with their roles, at least in the present day. They're also the most oldest of the Archons, so they are the most experienced. It makes sense.
Ei, Nahida, and Furina, though, all seem to be foils of each other to varying extents. While Zhongli and Venti rule their country from behind the scenes, the three younger Archons initially appear to be in positions of power and authority...but aren't really.
Ei has a great deal of power and authority, and is feared or respected by most of her people. But due to her grief over the losses of Makoto and her generals, she has given up responsibility and stopped caring what her people want. She orders Visions be collected and does the war against the Resistance, but she's not really...present, letting the Raiden Shogun and the Tenryou commission run things. She knows the Fatui are in Inazuma apparently, but doesn't seem to care. Only when the Traveler and Yae Miko beat/talk sense into her does she really start to act like a leader and try fixing her mistakes. Up until that point, Ei has been isolating herself.
On the other hand, the Akademiya were grieving Rukkhadevata so much that they forcibly rejected, isolated, and imprisoned Nahida. She did her best to interact with her people and help them when she could, but she wasn't really allowed to rule, and lacked the power and authority she needed to properly lead Sumeru. Largely, Nahida only needed more confidence, and to be believed in--she was already much more mature than Ei or Furina were.
Ei is treated as an Archon, but lacks the maturity of one. Nahida had maturity and a sense of responsibility, but people didn't treat her as an Archon until Rukkhadevata was erased from memory. Furina inherits the worst of both Ei and Nahida's positions and personalities. She lacks the maturity of an Archon, but also no one actually treats her as one. When the Oratrice malfunctions people turn to her for reassurances...but really, the Oratrice seems like way more of a God to them than she ever was. It's not Furina who is the final authority in the Court, it's the Oratrice.
Honestly, Furina might be what would've happened had Nahida lacked the maturity and wisdom she had, and been completely replaced by the Shouki no Kami. Aside from the lochfolk and the Pari, people in Fontaine don't grieve the Lord of Amrita like Rukkhadevata was grieved, but the people replaced their Archon with a machine that tells them comforting lies about how easy and straightforward Justice is, and their Archon helped them do so.
I feel like Furina must be a lonely individual, since she's dismissed by most in her country, and even other Archons likely find her unpleasant, annoying, or immature. She has some growing to do, too, but I hope that by not being impressed by her at all, and instead being blatantly annoyed by her, the Traveler can reach those parts of her.

Genshin Impact: The Overworked God [2]
Part 1
Summary: In which one of the lore writers who help write the world of Genshin Impact was suddenly thrusted in the very world they created.
Well, testing characters is one thing, but playing God, and raising 7 children at a time?
Oh boy. He just wants to go home and sleep.
Note: Finally back from break!
Part 2 of the Overworked God! Creator! Male OC!
What if we had a smarter Creator that never forgot his initial wish of going home?
Warning: Genshin and SAGAU themes, some OOC and angst.
★・・・・・・★
Tempus, or Kai has been in the world of Genshin Impact for a very long time, since its creation where it was just him and Celestia.
He struck a deal with Celestia, promising to be the Creator and consequently the God of Time to help create Teyvat, but on his own terms. Doing what he can to save his creations from unnecessary pain and suffering.
So, he’s still overworked, stressed and sleepy all the time, especially now that he has to take care of 7 children too.
But finally…today is the day he could finally go home.
Home sounds foreign to him, after all, he spent more years in Teyvat than on Earth, but he has never given up on returning after fulfilling his duty as the Creator.
It’s going to be a difficult announcement to make, considering how attached his children could be, but perhaps, he could twist the narrative just a bit to appease them.
“Tempus!” Speaking of, two bundles of mass hopped towards him as usual, and he caught them with both arms as if it was a routine. He stumbles a bit, sighs, but pats them on the head.
“It’s been so long since you visited Monstadt! I missed you~” Venti hugged his waist as he peaked up with puppy eyes. Before Kai could respond, Furina beat him to it.
“It’s because he likes Fontaine better! He’s been in my country the longest!” Furina quipped back with a proud expression on her face.
“That’s because you suck at ruling your country!”
“Says you, Mr. Drunkard Bard!”
At least they both have trustworthy people like Neuvillette and Jean to take care of their country…
“That’s enough, you two.” A spark of lightning scared the two to cling onto Tempus even more, but Ei easily picked the two off.
Ah, one of the more responsible leaders…
“Please ignore these two, Tempus.” Ei says stoically, as she sends a deadly glare that shuts the two up.
“It’s fine.” Tempus greets every single Archon with a nod, before taking a seat at the head of the table, his expression showing his tiredness despite the light-hearted banter that usually happens during these meetings.
“Have a seat everyone.” All the Archons did a curt bow before taking their respective seats.
Materializing snacks resembling that of an English afternoon teatime, he smiled when even the stoic Tsaritsa seemed to enjoy his food.
It’s a shame though, this will be his last time.
“Tempus.” He turned to the Tsaritsa, who seemed to notice his distress.
“I’m fine.” He brushed it away, before he felt a cold hand on his.
“Let us know if anything is bothering you.” Zhongli added on, and Tempus shook his head.
His children could handle Teyvat without him, what else would he be worried about?
“Tempus, are your worries the reason why did you call us all today?” Sharp as always, Nahida asks, gaining everyone’s attention all at once.
In the end…Rukkhadevata chose her fate. There are things that could not be changed…
“Yes.” Feeling everyone’s eyes on him, he felt even more estranged.
"As you know, I've overseen Teyvat, guided you all, and tried to make amends for the mistakes of the past," Tempus continued.
“After much thought, I believe it’s time for me to rest.”
Multiple teacups fell onto the table with a loud thud. With a wave of his hand, the spilled tea disappeared.
“T-Tempus! What, what do you mean?” Murata stood up abruptly, knocking over a flower vase, which Tempus easily dissolved to nothing.
“Tempus, how could you abandon us!”
“Calm down.” But it seems to have no effect, instead, he felt the cold hand squeeze his own, sending a shiver down his spine.
“Tempus, you belong to us.”
“As I’ve said, I will be going into deep slumber-” Suddenly, many eyes shot towards the Bard who looked very pale.
“-to take a break.” A teacup shattered, but Tempus paid no mind to it.
“My decision is final, and I hope you can take care of Teyvat while I rest.” For eternity.
“Tempus.” Scoring golden eyes burned into Kai’s soul, and he forced himself to remain neutral as he stared at Zhongli-Morax.
“Please stay. I’m begging you, please, Your Eminence. Please don’t leave us.”
"But what of Teyvat? You've become integral to the stability and well-being of this world, and us." There were many nods that followed.
“We need you.”
There was desperation in his voice, and while it did hurt Tempus to leave them, he doubted he could stay any longer knowing that he could finally leave.
“All of you are strong and are capable enough to rule your countries, which I am very proud of. Teyvat will be in good hands." Some Archons smiled briefly, but it was short lived.
"Which is why it's time for me to step aside and take a break."
They had grown accustomed to Tempus's guidance, his wisdom, and his tireless efforts to steer them towards a better path, so for them to lose his support is like fighting without a weapon.
“W-Where, will you be resting? In Temporium?” Furina’s shaky voice filled the silent room.
“Stay here, the Fortress of Meropide will keep you safe. Fontaine and I will keep you safe.”
“Yes.”
“For how long?” Venti asked, anxiety in his voice.
“I’ll find you, I’ll find you no matter where you run.”
“I do not know, for as long as my body needs.” Their faces became pale at thinking of the possibility of not seeing Tempus again.
With a sigh, he stood up, making others rush to stand too.
“Come here, each one of you.” In an instant, they rushed over and Tempus pulled them one by one into a hug. While he made himself tall and muscular, he felt small in the group hug that lasted an incredibly long time.
He felt arms around his waist, chest, arms and back, being hugged by 7 people at once was somewhat suffocating.
“You all will do great. I will miss you all.” This was not a lie.
“Time flows like water, and perhaps I will wake sooner than you all expect.” This was a lie.
Tempus heard sniffles, and felt hands grabbing his robes and weaving through his long hair.
“Tempus…do you have to leave us?” Nahida asked, tugging his heart strings as he saw such a wise person tear up.
Did she read my thoughts?
Tempus got rid of that idea as he forbade her from doing so, and with his current power alongside Celestia’s authority, she should be blocked from doing such a thing.
“I am not leaving, Nahida. I am merely resting.”
Finally, with some coaxing, he managed to peel them off one by one.
“I leave Teyvat in your hands.”
With that, Tempus bid farewell to the Archons and quickly prepared to depart from Celestia. The longer he stayed, the more unbearable this would become.
However, once he left, the atmosphere shifted once more. The Archons, loyal to their Creator beyond measure, exchanged anxious glances, and a heavy silence settled over the chamber.
“Tempus lied.” Nahida said, as tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Nahida?” All of the Archons felt their heart drop at her words.
“He may be resting in Temporium, but there’s more to it. I can’t read his mind completely, but…he’s going to leave us if we let him go.”
“What are we waiting for then?” Suddenly, the atmosphere turned cold. The Tsaritsa stepped forward with her Ice scepter, Permafrost. Like many other Archon’s weapons, they were gifted to them by the Creator himself.
“If Buer’s words are true, then while his body remains in Temporium, his soul is elsewhere.”
The Archons soon came to a consensus.
“We cannot let him go into slumber.”
Or they will lose him completely.
[Are you ready, dear Creator?]
Tempus laid in his resting chamber on the edges of Temporium, in a makeshift mountain. He created this place in secret, so no one else by him knows.
He felt bad for his kingdom, as he told the royal family that he will be gone doing his Godly duties for a long time, but never informed how long.
Regardless, they should be able to live without a god, considering the technology and time Tempus gave them.
[Yes]
As he lay in his comfortable bed with minimal decorations or other items, he shut his eyes and reminisced about the past.
Although it was a very long time, he was never really alone.
But he has seen much more than a normal human on Earth, from war to life and death, to the repetitions of stories by going back in time many times to fix his mistakes.
“Stop him! He’s going back in time!”
Truly, it takes a mental toll on his mind. He can’t let his emotions take over, otherwise, he would have to redo everything again.
[Thank you for your work, dear Creator]
[Just make sure you fulfill your side of the deal]
[Of course]
When he shut his eyes, he felt safe, comfortable and oddly relieved, relieved of his duties at last.
“Tempus!”
His eyes snapped open and saw his chamber shake with vigor. All of his protective mechanisms activate, indeed, he prepared for this.
“Tempus!”
Voices slowly became louder and the earth seemed to roar.
How did they find him? Was it Buer? It must've been.
“Tempus!”
There was desperation in their voices, and Kai assumed that they seemed to have figured something out.
Perhaps honesty was better, but in the end, this was always the outcome.
Yes, Tempus already knew that no matter what he did, the Archons would rebel, would seek him out.
Even if the walls seem to crumble, it did not affect Kai’s chamber, after all, it was sealed and protected with his powers.
But perhaps with a bit more persistence, they would soon destroy the mountain all together, leaving him and his chamber exposed. But, Tempus was not worried, after all, he had prepared for this moment too long ago.
[Farewell, dear Creator]
Suddenly, he felt a bright light engulf him as he felt incredibly sleepy.
Through his blurred vision, he could see the stormy skies, and all seven Archons rushing towards him.
“Tempus!”
“You can’t leave us, Tempus!”
Seeing them in their prime, in their Archon outfits was a little nostalgic.
Hearing a crack in his chamber’s shield was somewhat surprising, but also, incredible. His children have grown up well.
[Farewell]
With a fleeting smile, Tempus bids farewell to his second home.
“Tempus!”
His eyes close, just as the light takes him whole.
“Tempus!”
Morax and Murata pierced through the tough protective layers desperately, and Ei and Venti whiz past them to reach their Creator.
But, they were too late.
“No, Tempus is…he’s-” Barbados was crying as he held Tempus’s hand.
“Kai! Kai!” Furina bawled her eyes out, calling his real name repeatedly as if it would bring him back.
But he won’t come back.
Bal held his body as she froze in shock (in regret), as if she was reminded of her past.
“Tempus, you’re cruel.” Buer, the one who got them so far and so close but not enough. She knelt down beside him and cried while pressing his hand into her face.
“You’ve left us with death, not slumber. You lied, you lied!”
It was like they lost a part of themselves.
After all, Tempus was there whenever they needed guidance, he sacrificed his own personal time to make sure they were alright.
“K-Kai…” Morax stumbled towards the still body that used to be his friend, mentor, benefactor, love, and everything.
Even in death, he was still so beautiful, kind and holy.
Tempus was their everything.
The Tsaritsa dragged herself towards Tempus with her scepter. She was known to not show her emotions, even when Tempus encouraged her to do so to stay emotionally healthy. He was the only one that saw her vulnerable side, and knew who she really was, and never judged her for it.
“Tempus. How dare you…abandon us like this?” She stood by Tempus’s feet and her eyes did not leave his body at all.
While others wept, her tears were turned into weapons.
Murata stood by her with the same dark, solemn expression.
It’s not fair.
How could he treat them like his everything, and then leave them so abruptly?
If only he could open his eyes again and say it was nothing but a terrible joke.
But Tempus is gone, leaving his lifeless body as his final memory and gift.

You see Liyue's god, Morax, on the street and you lose your mind.
★彡takes place centuries ago, when Rex Lapis was said to be close with his people, Rukkhadevata still existed, etc.
In Teyvat, where gods and monsters roam the land, it is only natural that stories of the divine weave their way into daily life. As a child, you'd been accustomed to poring over books and pictures of the gods of other nations. Like Baal with her elegant, thundering might that could cleave whole islands in half in one stroke, and the playful Barbatos, who could blow away even the tallest mountains with a single gust of wind. They were all so charming, so ethereal, so complex. Your own god was no less impressive - the beautiful and divine Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, whose blessings of wisdom gave rise to your thriving nation.
The god that fascinated you the most, however, was Morax - or Rex Lapis, as the people of his nation so reverently called him.
In all the stories you'd read and the plays you'd seen, Rex Lapis was depicted as a fierce warrior god who could overcome any adversity thrown his way. He'd minted Mora from his own divine body, altered the landscape of Liyue during major battles, and bestowed blessings of illumination upon his adepti companions.
Most importantly, he is handsome.
Yes, it's a little silly to swoon over a religious deity, but...look at him. Every story you've read depicted him in the same way, be it in Inazuman manga or Sumerian amar chitra katha: long dark hair that was securely fastened by a gilded pin; toned arms that shimmered with hues of black and gold; and glimmering amber eyes set upon a face that seemed to be chiseled by Celestia itself.
Honestly, Rex Lapis is the main reason you're interested in pursuing higher studies in Liyue rather than in Sumeru, much to your parents' disdain. Why go to Liyue when Sumeru has a perfectly reputable Akademiya with well-established Darshans? But they know they cannot stop you: when your reverence for Rex Lapis has far transcended your devotion to Rukkhadevata almost since the moment you were born, why shouldn't you gain the opportunity to get closer to the god you love most?
So the day you get the acceptance letter from your dream academy in Liyue Harbor, it's a most joyous occasion indeed. After much jumping and screaming and cheering, you lay out your plan for when you first get to Liyue to settle into your dorm for the academic year:
Step 1: Find Rex Lapis.
Step 2: Woo him and become his consort...or something.
A masterfully-crafted plan, is it not?
---x---
It's not a far journey from Sumeru; the two are neighboring countries after all, and it takes about a day and a half by cart to get to the harbor. That's where Rex Lapis is most active, so you should certainly be able to catch a glimpse of him at least once during your fortnight here, yes?
Throughout almost the entire journey, your nose is buried in stories of Rex Lapis mingling with his people. Oftentimes this is done while he is incognito, his golden eyes the only thing giving away his identity.
Yes, that's another thing about him that wildly interests you - out of all the archons, he's one of the closest to his people. That's the whole basis for your master plan, no? It wouldn't work if he were to be cooped up in Taishan Mansion like he was originally supposed to be.
The scenery shifts from thick forests to vast valleys, and before you know it you've crossed the Sumeru-Liyue border. The landscape shifts to warmer colours, the ever-present green now blending with hues of red and gold. Mountains dot the horizon, and your heart pounds with excitement at the thought of Rex Lapis having formed them all himself. And, the moment you see a Statue of the Seven come into view and it's Rex Lapis instead of Rukkhadevata, you find yourself squealing for the carriage to be stopped for a moment.
Hurrying out and almost tripping over yourself with giddiness, you make your way over to the statue. "Oh my gosh!" You can hardly believe it yourself, but his stone likeness sits upon a throne, his face shrouded by a hood as he gazes contemplatively at a cube in his hand. With the way he's sitting...surely you can nestle yourself on his lap!
The carriage's coachman pulls you back before you can climb up the statue and incur your first penalty in Liyue.
---x---
Fortune is on your side for the most part, for your dorm is located in the perfect spot near your academy-to-be, and you get a lovely seaside view from your window. The rent came cheap as well, and you had a smooth and seamless moving-in experience.
The area where fortune is not on your side, however, is in the fact that you've been here for a week and haven't seen neither hide nor hair of the Geo archon. You'd been traipsing around the harbor all week to the point that you could probably point out all the landmarks like a local, but there was no sign of a certain golden-eyed man at all. (You knew this because you'd made sure to look into everyone's eyes - not long enough to be creepy but just long enough to get some confused looks.)
One consolation was the fact that the people of Liyue loved talking about their experiences with their god: how he had once used a spoon from this place to try food from that stall, how he had written a poem for this store and had personally named that restaurant...his presence was interwoven with the stories of this city and could certainly not be de-threaded from them.
So where on earth was he now?
Your question is answered when you're out buying potatoes at the market ("Rex Lapis himself had suggested this place sell potatoes!"), when the vendor nearly knocks your bag over as he bows deeply to the tall man who has appeared beside you. "Rex Lapis, it is an honor and a pleasure to see you back here again!"
You nearly drop those damn potatoes.
"Ah, think nothing of it, my friend. The vegetable arrangements you craft out of food waste are simply a delight to behold - and economical, as well. One might even say that..." As his rich, deep baritone engulfs your ears, you finally muster the courage to look up at him. The moment you do, your jaw practically drops to the pavement.
The manga and amar chitra katha weren't lying. If anything, they weren't even doing justice to his appearance.
Beautiful amber eyes set upon a chiseled face that exuded equal parts royalty and congeniality; long, silky dark hair held together by a lustrous gold pin; and through his archon robes you could make out the shape of his toned and muscular body.
"Ohmagaissreallyyouohgaohwhadahek..."
You hadn't realised you'd just babbled something until the god stops mid-conversation and turns to look at you curiously.
"Pardon me, little one, I didn't quite catch that."
Your legs feel like they're made of water; yet somehow you don't fall to the ground. He's looking at you, oh gods he's looking at you. "Uhhhhhh," is all you can utter.
He offers you a warm smile that could put even the morning sun to shame. If your voice worked, you would scream "I'm in love with you" at him. "Yours is a face I have not seen around here before. A visitor to my land, I assume?"
The only thing you can do right now is nod meekly. The god's eyes twinkle.
"Well, I do hope you enjoy your stay here. Liyue has much to offer, regardless of what it is you may be looking for." You nod dumbly yet again as he finishes his conversation with the vendor and, with a nod to you, Rex Lapis begins to stroll down the street.
Clearly his presence is not an infrequent occurrence, for everyone who passes by him merely greets him with mild nervousness and reverence, as opposed to hurling themselves at his feet and wailing words of praise at him.
Finally, your legs start working again. Before you know it, you find yourself running towards him. Rex Lapis, sensing your footsteps, turns to look at you.
You pause, catching your breath. Your heart is hammering away in your chest, and it's not because of the running. "I...have something I want to say to you...m-my lord!"
"Yes?" He eyes you curiously, head slightly cocked.
You bite your lip, your mind reeling. So many things to say, so little brain juice in you... "I - I think you're very handsome!"
Saying this, you run off, leaving the god to stand there and process what had just transpired. Classy.

NAHIDA HAS NO REASON TO BE WHITE. heres WHY
the reason why i'm making this post is because i am SICK and TIRED of seeing OTHER PEOPLE fight for MY CULTURE in the most INCORRECT WAY POSSIBLE. "nahida rcta queen!", "why are you blackwashing her?", "she switched teams!" all these comments and more under artists' posts that decided to give her melanin.
artists are just giving back her melanin as she is based off a culture with people who have dark skin. this is not racist. this is literally the opposite. i understand if a character already has an established skin colour that's apart of their character (ex. ei or zhongli) though with nahida this makes no sense.
i am indian, do NOT come after me. sumeru is based off of MY culture. i know what i'm talking about. a good 70% of sumeru is based off hindu culture, it's based off south asia.
more of my yapping:
Tumblr media
you all need to shut the hell up about saraswati and how nahida is based off saraswati because saraswati's description is saying "shes as white as the moon" and nahida is white. you ALL need to BE QUIET ABOUT THAT.
this is saraswati, for reference:
Tumblr media
saraswati is not ever mentioned in genshin impact. NOT ONCE. but, the aranara call rukkhadevata queen aranyani. aranyani is a very obscure hindu god known for taking care of the forest and dancing n stuff
Tumblr media
THIS IS WHAT NAHIDA AND RUKKHADEVATA ARE BASED OFF OF. NOT SARASWATI. the only thing that saraswati and nahida (+ rukkha) have in-common is that other than being white and based off a hindu goddess
saraswati isn't even white, the pale as the moon thing refers to a godly glow. so even IF nahida and rukkha are based off saraswati, hoyo does NOT HAVE ANY REASON TO MAKE THEM WHITE SINCE SHE ISNT EVEN WHITE. she has a GODLY GLOW.
literally the only excuse nahida has for being that pale is that she's the avatar of irminsul (a white tree) HOWEVER. they didn't need to make her THAT pale. if they wanted to make her pale skin they should've added more colors like pinks and purples and blues like the actual irminsul
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as you can VERY CLEARLY see, they did not do that. they did not even try to take this route.
everything could have been fine if they did take this route or make her eyelashes white and say she's albino if they really wanted her to be white. but they didn't.
indians can be pale, YES. but they aren't this paper caca toothpaste looking ass WHITE like how nahida is. REPRESENTATION FOR SKIN COLOUR MATTERS TOO. ITS NOT JUST THE CULTURE THEY'RE BASED OFF OF.
anyway thanks for coming to my yapping session. i love talking about my culture 👍 desi nahida layouts are here if you want to see :)
