Is it just me or have the illustrators eventually said, "heck with it! let's just get this done & over with!" and got lazy? Taking a look at the last two chapters/the last post, I'm beginning to wonder

Ok, we get a better visual of Dr C's hairstyle. I put this pic in a grayscale filter and his hair in the movie was definitely darker than this ash brown-blond color (I like to think it's dark brown)

That shirt & tie. So much for that turtleneck. But from what I've gathered, the illustrators for a number of kids' books about the movie were given art references (besides the concept art) from DW months before the movie came out. Dr C's swap from the tie to the turtleneck didn't happen until later in the making of the movie; pretty much all the concept art of him show a shirt & tie. I don't know about you but I wanna see that reference art, every piece of it! As a fan of this glorious franchise, may my prayers be answered!

Srsly? Portable phones, or phones that didn't require a cord, were a thing of dreams in the 60s. And what kind of haircut are you guaranteed? A trim? A buzz cut? And chocolate tastes AWFUL after you brush your teeth, and the average adult doesn't drink hot chocolate on a regular basis. It's coffee, if anything. Or even more realistic in the early 60s: a phone that lights a cigarette. You ever watch mid-century period dramas like Mad Men or Call The Midwife? But srsly. Is this chapter perfect? No. But I like it for giving "human" Dr C a bit more time than just a 10-second camera footage of a hottie in a lab coat getting into a giant cylinder. I don't know about anyone else, but it gives me more of a comprehension that Dr C's a human being with a cockroach head and tendencies, not just a strange anthropomorphic bug person

Poor private Grime. And what are the monsters supposed to do with potatoes? I think B.O.B. & maybe Insecto are the only ones who would eat potatoes, and Dr C might try potato battery experiments. But why so many? Did Monger stop by local gleaners or a food bank/pantry? Was this a donation of charity? Did he accidentally go over the top with potato crops at his farm? I don't get it! But quoting Samwise Gamgee, "Po-Tay-Toes! Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew!" There's probably a thousand and one things you could make with potatoes. Like vodka--oh, wait! Kids' book

Grime must've been like one soldier online who said he could cook minute-rice in 58 seconds. Still, I feel bad for the guy. Do you know how hard peeling potatoes can be on your hands after a while? Ow, ow, owie...

Overall, not a bad book. Disappointing every now and then, but hey! Kids' book. It was kinda expected. The watered-down, non-violent breakaways from the movie had its ups and downs. Like providing some explanation of details of the origin stories in the movie, like why the tomato and dessert topping. Or the idea that luring a monster into a trap is the ultimate way to capture one, MUCH more scaled out and less violent than fighting them until you get the upper hand and force them into submission and/or tranquilizing them, like tranquilizing Susan and then tying her down when she became too drowsy to fight and eventually consciousness in the movie instead of luring her into a trap (like, how would you lure a confused, scared 50-foot bride into a trap when all she can think of was her fiance's safety and why people were wrapping a rope around her arm?). If you thought this book was a disappointment through and through, I read the graphic novelization, and it is a bigger disappointment than anything in this book. More watered down, the illustration was terrible, and some of the rewritten scenes didn't add up with the events of the movie, like wth. I think I threw it out

I hope you enjoyed this take-a-peek series as much as I did. And maybe I can share the second half of the entire book, a story called Brain Pain, a silly entertaining story about the four monsters (BOB, Dr C, Link, & Insecto) in the facility some time before Susan showed up. Maybe :)

I see why people love this, omg! This route actually almost made me cry-- almost. I don't even know where to begin! (lol) I'm writing this while literally only just starting the secret route, and already I can kinda see why some may have mixed feels going into that when they complete Alan's story last. I did however start tearing up, especially in the scene just before the confrontation with Jupiter because godDAYUM the voice acting is just so good, wth. You can hear the raw emotion in Alan's voice, and the situation combined with it is justಥ_ಥ The whole relationship with Lynette was just so😭💕💕 and Alan is so sweet I can't-

I see why he's more of the popular fan fav, though I will say maybe my expectations were wither a little too high, or it just takes more to make me cry because with what I heard of the degree of angst in this route by others, I was expecting it to be a lot worse😅 Still very emotional, and I really enjoyed it! I'm so happy they're together for eternity at last🥹💜 ALSO FUCK THE DII CONSENTES AND THE "obey the Gods, this is against blah blah blah" CRAP! Idk why Jupiter can't go against that when he's the literal god of gods and that may be explained later on, but srsly screw Mercury in that one scene. You could see that Jupiter wanted both of them to stay together if he could, but y'know, Celestia being so self-centered that it literally lies to all the ones being used and abused (sounds like governments and capitalism irl, tbh)

But that scene where Cupid is taken back to Celestia and talks with Mars, Venus and Minerva really nailed in how shady Minerva has been bc she's the only one who lied to Lynette, saying she wouldn't disappear and contradicting herself on the "demons corrupt and charm you even though you're a godess" despite saying otherwise way earlier in the route💀 I really don't know how to feel abt her now after Raul and Alan's routes man, I'll probably still like her if I replay the other three parasite's routes, but yeah.

hey so i read the post about "ramblings about unreality, the BoP, and the journal:" and i had a thought.. If writing things down is a valid way to "Realize" an idea.. Ergo, Oral Storytelling is Also a perfectly valid way to Realize an idea.(also headcannon about Daybreak town: What if Daybreak town was a story Orally told, and then projected into Reality.)

in my interpretation, oral storytelling would definitely work! as i said in the post, any kind of medium should. Again, this is all pure guess work, but according to my made up logic, yes, it pans out lmao. Thanks for the add-on!

Honestly your hc is probably right lmao but imma ramble about it in regards to my og Unreality post. so:

About the hc of Daybreak Town being spoken about, and therefore spawning as a real world--that's tough. Bc the logic of my post was that to spawn a world, it would have to /not/ exist yet. So telling a story of Daybreak Town wouldn't spawn it in Reality, bc, Daybreak Town already exists in reality. Spawning would only work with "fictional" worlds.

BUT! That makes me wonder about "Reality"! Like, what created the "real" worlds, then? The disney worlds, the kh worlds, everything in between (memories, data, dreams)--ALL of it. What created THOSE??

That's an obvious lots of people have already asked and have tried to answer. But I didn't give it any thought in my post bc that post was about Unreality. But now that the question's here, I have to wonder.

How did Daybreak Town come into existence? How did any and all of kh come into existence? If it follows a similar logic to the fictional worlds, that would mean someone /did/ put their imaginings into realization (so basically like your hc says lol), and it resulted in the creation of the kh universe.

Which, duh. Obviously, on a meta level, that's exactly what happened lmao. But I already clarified in my og post that I know on some level it's all just fourth wall stuff. But I'm here thinking about how it would work in-game.

So yeah, there are two possibilities in my mind here: Either Daybreak Town was a world in Reality, or it was a world in Unreality.

And i mostly consider the possibilitiy of it being unreal bc I've heard people suggest that the Scala Ad Caelum we see in Khux could be a different version of the Scala we see in Kh3, since the architecture looks different (bright white in kh3, dark in khux). Of course there could be other reasons for the differences but i'm talking about realities here.

While I don't think Daybreak Town could have been spawned in Reality by someone in kh, if Daybreak Town ended up being in Unreality, it could have therefore been spawned by someone in kh /reality/.

...according to my made up fictional world logic lmao

Another reason i consider the idea of Daybreak Town being in Unreality is bc of the glitches in that world when it was "ending". If fictional worlds did end up being based in something akin to data, that could explain the glitches.

But obviously I can't say for sure whether Daybreak Tow was originally in Reality or Unreality. Not even my opinion is settled on one possibitilty or the other.

To me it seems more likely that Daybreak Town /was/ in Reality because of the clear influence it's left on the present world. Keyblade wielders, the keyblade graveyard, dreameaters, etc. Elements of Daybreak Town are everywhere in present day, so I lean in the direction of it having been in Reality. (except now i'm thinking about the dream/sleeping realm thing in khux)

And this circles back to the original question lmao i ramble a lot. But yeah, according to my made up logic, you can't project a town into reality by telling a story about it.

If the town in the story is real in Reality, then it already existed before you told the story (like Jiminy's Journal records past events, therefore writing them down does nothing).

If the town in the story didn't exist yet, or the events of the story hadn't happened yet even if the town was real, then it still wouldn't spawn in Reality. Because "time is immovable". All of time is set in stone, or at least it's supposed to be. So a made up story taking place in a real town would probably spawn in Unreality instead.

It's like the game lmao. Unreality has real world cities (both as in Shibuya from twewy and Shibuya from real life Japan; and verum rex is based on a real life city too, right). But anyway i'm getting off topic.

So those are my rambling responses. All of this is pure guesswork bs logic, lol, so take it with less than a grain of salt. (fr i have no idea what i'm talking about lol)

(I interpreted this as to display the colouring of gifs I’ve made in the past... but halfway through this it suddenly occurred to me that it meant to make new gifs and colour them...? I’m too afraid to ask at this point so I’m just going my way... :’D)

The gifs are arranged in chronological order of when I’ve made them: I’ve had my experimental colouring phase, if you see the top half. But I’ve mostly ditched that fancy way of colouring now, and by default just go by the most straightforward way of bumping up contrast and brightness, intensifying the original palette. You won’t go wrong with this and it’s good enough tbh, haha. I still like the nice colourings and might try playing around more whenever I’m in the mood or if it fits the mood of the set~
