Funguary Week 2!

We had massive power, communications, transport and train blackouts this week. I lost a lot of food in freezers and so on. But I'm still going. Things are a bit chaotic, but we are still going strong.

Funguaryyyy week 2 🌸💚

Mycena pura: They carry their deadly toxin, muscarine, in small doses. You'll find these little cults ranging from lilac, bright yellow, and white, gathering together in coniferous and deciduous woodlands and bioaccumulating the element boron. The saprotrophic lilac bonnets are also found to be bioluminescent, releasing a faint green light.

FOTD #095 : lilac bonnet! (mycena pura)

the lilac bonnet is an agaric fungus in the family mycenaceae :-) it is widely spread across north america, & is said to glow faintly in the dark !! it usually grows beneath conifers or in leaf litter piles.

the big questions : can i bite it?? though it contains trace amounts of the toxin muscarine, some guides still call it edible. i do not recommend eating them !!

m. pura description :

"the mycena pura is a tiny to medium-sized mushroom. the cap is violet to purple when young but can change colour with age. it can be convex, flat, or bell-shaped. the gills are pale or pinkish in colour & get cross veins as they age. the stem is identical to the cap, hollow, & the same shade. there is no ring on the mushroom. the cap ranges from 0.79 to 2.36 inches (2 to 6 cm) in size. the stem is 1.57 to 3.94 inches (4 to 10 cm) long & 0.08 to 0.24 inches (2 to 6 mm) thick."

Funguary week 2 - Demonic

at long last, after much work and determination, here are my redesigns for funguary 🍄✨

i wanted to rework these earlier designs in particular cause for the first four days I was so focused on making my fungus designs as subtle as possible so i wouldn't seem "basic" or "unoriginal", that i felt like those earlier designs ended up being a lil too subtle and ended up being unsatisfied with the final products. I wanted to make the fungus aspect of thes characters' designs more apparent, rlly make it visually clear that these are anthropomorphized fungi and not just random characters that just happen to share color schemes with certain fungi. At least thats what I wanted to achieve with my funguary designs. I think it just goes to show that a big part of embracing your art is not worrying so much abt originality and just having fun!

Also I didn't include day 3's turkey tail cause tbh i think its a rlly ugly mushroom, i personally find its colors unappealing >_< Plus the original design on its own is decent anyways so idc either way lol

anyways, the reason I put so much effort into these is that I've actually been wating to make all my fungus designs into actual oc's outside of funguary!! Idk if I'll on having a full on linear story for them, but you'll def see more content of them in the future so stay tuned ;)

Anand that concludes all my funguary content for 2024!!! Thank you all sm for following me on this challenge! It was hard at times and I def feel I could've managed my time and schedule a lot better, but I still had fun along the way, and I hope you guys do too ❤️🍄✨
