Febuwhump Day 11 - Time Loop

Based on this art and idea from @twilight-linkess! Your art is always so great, I haven't had a chance to reblog it much lately but by heaven I will!

This new era was strange. Not because anything in particular really stuck out, but because it felt eerily familiar while also quite foreign. Both Time and Twilight observed similarities, the former sensing fairy magic as if he were in the Lost Woods while the latter recognized some architecture. Neither could pinpoint enough to really definitively say it was their era, and a nearby village had no recollection of anyone named Link.

So they were between heroes, then.

Despite this knowledge, Twilight felt... uneasy, for lack of a better word. He found himself looking over his shoulder often. Time hovered close to him, worry coating his features and setting his shoulders stiffly. It was still too close to Twilight's injury, and his elder was clearly letting his misgivings about the place channel into worry over his descendant.

As for Twilight... well. He'd been having disturbing dreams and visions lately. He swore it was just because he wasn't really sleeping well, because this place made him feel off. But some days, when he was laughing with Time, the way his armo glinted would dull, like it was rusting over before his very eyes. Or, worse, his armor would shine too bright, reflecting a red eye glowing in a skull that wasn't--couldn't be there.

By the time a week had passed, Twilight was ready to lose his mind. Every time he looked at his elder he had to do a double take to make sure he was real. Every time he saw the man's reflection it looked ghostly.

It's fine, he tried to reassure himself. You're just sleep deprived. It's not like he's going to vanish into thin air. He's fine.

But every night he shivered, no matter how many blankets he wrapped himself in. Every night he saw bony fingers reach out to him. Every night Time lay dead on the ground.

When he finally found he'd had enough, he patrolled the woods in his wolf form. A golden light caught his attention, heartbreakingly familiar but impossibly so. He followed it with haste, heart racing, but no matter how fast he ran, it always moved faster.

High, high above the Hero of Twilight, the Hero's Shade watched, sadness hanging over him. He ached to see his pup and talk to him, to almost have a conversation where both would have equal knowledge of the other for once, but... no. He couldn't interfere with the timeline any more than he already had.

Go on, little pup, he bade with all the love his aching heart could muster. Stay safe with your brothers.

i know i said that my next fic would be the one where TotK Link uses a signed language but inspiration hit when i saw this art of LU Wild, Legend, and Hyrule admiring a brightbloom by @twilight-linkess and now i'm at 500 words and counting! anyone who interacts with this post will be tagged when i upload the fic :)

Faerule and the No Good Very Bad Road Trip by ImperialKatwala, PolynomialPandemic is a great "Chain Meets Hyrule" fic.

@gintrinsic-writing is phenomenal. A gem. I love all of it, but check the tags to find ones you're comfortable with. AO3 Blood Like Yours is my personal favorite, and the sequel Like Fire in Your Veins by @pocketramblr are both about Hyrule's Blood Curse from Adventures of Link. M for Violence for most of them, but check tags to be sure. If you like it, consider also...

Protector of the Golden Power by Sillus Hyrule centric but he has a different secret.

@somer-writes has a lot of great short one shots, some darker than others. My personal favorite is a sort of character study of the boys at their lowest and how they recover called "Depletion"

For a Sliver of Sunlight by tirsynni: Warrior's dedication to his brothers makes him question his title as Hero.

His parents are so well written, and Abel makes appearances in LU-related/adjacent fics, The Many Misadventures of Dad Squad and Dad Squad AU by Nancyheart, Silver_Captain82403, Skye_the_Lofty_Nutcase

which is part crack and part angst, mostly lighthearted.

Don't Worry Man, I'm from the Yiga Clan: Link makes a Yiga friend due to being a delightful chaos gremlin.

Feature MCD... but might be worth it:

And Still the Cradle Blooms by Solistrix: GORGEOUS literary masterpiece. The writing is unreal. It's descriptions and emotions are incredible. This is more like finding the meaning in eventual death, so of the three here I suspect you'll like this one best as far as not being too hurt by the character's mentioned end.

This is an Adjuration: I'll be real, this is full of action and excitement but yes, it has MCD and is making me cry, but it's also REEEEAAALLY good!

Blood Drops on Roses by HotCheetohatred Fantastic storytelling! Wild centric, Twi is big brother but from day one of Wild's journey. Unreliable young Wild as narrator is an absolute delight. Unfinished, no MCD yet, but it's in the tags so no promises.

Hyrule has some boots that let him walk over (certain bodies of?) water, but they have wings on them like Legend's pegasus boots so I like to imagine he's just hoofing it so fast across the water he doesn't sink.

Hmmm. Well I'm just gonna spitball because I cannot think of anything either.

They are kinda the older bros of the group. I also like to think of them as the kind of babysitters you trust to take care of your kids but then you get back and it's mayhem and none of your kids are asleep like they should be.

I also like acknowledging that they are all highly competent and yet....I can't help but think they are likely incompetent as a trio and bound to attract trouble. Like. Alone they are smart and responsible, but together they are a dumpster fire and the singular brain cell always gets lost.

Dang this is a difficult trio. I hope someone thinks of something eventually. All I ever think of with these three are the spa and spinner arts by @twilight-linkess

A tag? What sorcery is this? Thanks for tag. My story is a lil anti-climactic and dates back about sixteen years but here we go.

So, I had another username from middle school that was orangevbnin back on fanfiction.net to match my yahoo account. My parents has suggested I combine things I like so my username would be unique to me. In middle school I liked orange, volleyball, and ninjas because Naruto's English dub was still in it's infancy on Cartoon Network. 😶‍🌫️

After high school I started participating in forums and my name felt very clunky so I felt I needed an upgrade that was easier for me to say and that could be shortened so it was easier for other's to type. I used the same method as before. At eighteen, I still liked anime but I got obsessed with Batman right before Flashpoint and New52, so I smashed those to words together and I liked that "Anicomic" sounded kinda grandiose, making me think of atomic, cosmic, and cataclysmic.

As for "Queen," this I chose because I'm spoiled by my Grandma and also because my parents always called me "princess," ( they still do actually and I'm in my thirties now 😊). What's the next step after princess? Well, I figured it was probably queen, hence my choice.

It's important to note that I'm the first cousin/grandchild and because my Grandma is very loud and always seemed to be in charge at family get togethers, I jokingly used to say that our family is a matriarchy and someday I was going to be the leader of the cousins. I used to have a list of which cousins I would need to entice to my side, which cousins would have to be taken down because they could pose a threat to my dominion, and which ones I could win the loyalties of through befriending other cousins I didn't get along with too well. 😅 I think I would have been a tryrant...Lol

Anywho, that's how I ended up making my name. It's never been taken (yet) no matter where I go to make an account so it's still unique to me which is convenient now that everyone and their mom wants us to make accounts.

I like shortening my name to "AQ" which is what I used to make my "signature" on my art. (Conveniently I also kinda spell my actual name in my signature.) For social media and chatting purposes I prefer to go my "Ani."
