What have they done to you?

An idea of how Link met Dr cockroach

Before Dr.c was brought into the facility

The former caretaker was careless of monsters they've captured and often they'd use them for tests and all.

The missing link, mostly was always the target one that they would use to test on which wasn't easy on the fish ape then suddenly that changed when Dr cockroach arrived and opon meeting the sea beast wasn't so easy the scientist but that didn't stop him to help, discussing it with monger of ending the torturous experiments and promised was kept.

After the Captain retired and Monger had taken over, It was hard for link to be mentally and physically well but eventually got comfortable with the bug man who he only verbally speak to when he needs something or ran to him if he sees another human with a lab coat sensing danger.

After for short years he began talking and working out to get his mind off of the stuff he gone through with the help from Dr cockroach much to his annoyance from link's pranks and teasing the quack.

Also side note.... Link might've secretly liked (like-like) His roach friend but feelings slowly began growing towards him over the years.

Monsters vs aliens drabble. Link and Dr. Cockroach are sweet and Bob gets a camera.

The break room for the monsters was full, sans one monsters of the cockroach man variety. Bob was too excited to share some news to wait for Doctor Cockroach to show up.

"Look what I have!" Bob cried.

Link peered up from the t.v.

"What's with the camera?" Link asked.

Bob held the instant camera up, proud of his new device. 

"Susan gave it to me!" Bob said.

"I thought he might find it helpful for his scrap books." Susan explained.

"That makes sense. Taken any pictures yet?" Link asked.

"Not yet. I wanted to take some pictures in here first with all my fellow monsters. I'm just waiting for Doctor Cockroach." Bob explained.

Link thought a moment.

"Huh... where is the doc?"

The universe sometimes loved good timing because it was at that point Doctor Cockroach showed up. The doc seemed to be in a particularly good mood as he strolled into the break room. He made a beeline for Link after greeting everyone. Once at Link's side he leaned into Link's side.   

"Well, someone's feeling just a bit playful, aren't they?" Link asked.

Dr. Cockroach nodded just a bit. He then moved away from Link. Not far at all. Only far enough that he could offer out his hand.

"Maybe a little." Dr. Cockroach said with a grin. "Join me in a dance?" 

Link grinned back.

"Why of course." Link said.

Link moved to take Dr. Cockroach's hand. With a small movement they were beginning the dance. Not as energetic a dance as the two often did. Something more subdued, romantic. Link was not a master of slow dance but after having the time for Dr. Cockroach to teach him to slow dance, he was getting better at it.

The two continued their dance. Somewhat graceful as at least since Doctor Cockroach knew his way on the dance floor after all. 

From her spot on the couch Susan couldn't help but smile softly. A sweet, soft moment playing out in front of her and Bob. Speaking of Bob, he  was smiling just as much to see the happy couple dancing away. Then he gasped.

"Oh, this is the perfect moment to try out my camera!" he cried.Bob held up the camera and was ready to take the picture. Doctor Cockroach noted Bob was positioned there.

"Wait a moment if you will, Bob. Before you take the picture. I want to do something." Dr. Cockroach  said.

In one fluid motion Dr Cockroach dipped Link.

"I didn't think you were strong enough to dip me." Link said.

"I'm full of surprises. I can't hold this pose for long though. So if you please, take the picture." Dr. Cockroach said to Bob.

Bob grinned and set on the task that Dr.Cockroach had given. Unfortunately that task was a tad too hard for Bob to quite grasp how to do as Bob did not normally handle the camera. This became clear when he started to hum to himself, trying to find the button he needed to press. 

"Bob? Having trouble there?" Link asked.

"No, no, I got it. Just give me  a second." Bob said.

Bob had somehow ended up getting the camera lens to face him rather then Link and Dr. Cockroach. 

"Bob wait. You're going to-" Susan started to say.

Too late. The camera flash went off. Bob screamed and dropped the camera to cover his now temporarily blinded eye. At the same time Dr. Cockroach's strength finally gave out and he dropped Link. Link, reaching out unthinking, grabbed a hold of Dr. Cockroach's shoulder. The sudden weight brought Dr. Cockroach down with him to the floor.

A heavy thud and a loud yelp came from both Link and Dr. Cockroach.

"Ow." Link grumbled from the floor.

"You two okay?" Susan asked.

"Nothing wounded on me but my pride." Dr. Cockroach said.

Link gave a thumbs up to indicate he was fine. Dr. Cockroach got back to his feet and helped Link back to his own feet. Bob came forward.

"The picture looks pretty good too." Bob said, showing the picture on the camera's view screen. 

It was predictably a picture of Bob's eye.

"Well, it is a pretty good picture of his eye." Susan commented.

"Let's frame it!" Bob said.

"I'm not sure I want a picture of Bob's eye watching us all the time in the break room." Link whispered.

"Maybe we can convince him to keep it in his room." Susan whispered back.

Bob did not hear any of this and was still quite pleased with his picture taking skills.

Was bored

Watching monsters vs aliens with my nephew and was wondering what Dr. cockroach and Link was doing off screen behind there when bob walks out

I mean he looks annoyed here

And then looks disappointed

Link not calling dr cockroach his boyfriend/husband due to trying to act all tough and wondered how he falls for him (secretly still being shy)

Instead link calls him:

"My bug", "Love bug" and "roachy" (others I cant think of atm) that didn't change even both ended up as husbands

Dr c needn't to be worried, knows him very well, actually finds it cute and amusing when link being all flustered after being teased by monger or susan XD

I love to think that:

Dr cockroach would often sleep in while Link wakes up very early for his workouts but the problem that his love bug held onto him because hes a cuddler asking for 5 minutes.

Sometimes it works.

At night link would tiredly try prodding dr.c to come slumber while hes in his lab and sometimes be carried to the bed

Either dr cockroach falls asleep in his chair after days of no sleep

Dr cockroach and Link would call her taddy (tadpole, the idea from musekicker) lizard and Lil link from Dr c, these are just nicknames for her

Her name is Amber and she is intelligent and work as a martial arts for humans after they got their freedom and shes a youngest (I hadn't revealed the others)
