The Instagram page @womeonon20s (also https://www.womenon20s.org/) is a campaign to put a woman’s face on the $20 bill and represents the broader movement to increase equality and representation for women. For decades, men have been the face of our currency, leaving US bills not only lacking diversity but also representing men like Andrew Jackson, who was a slave trader and the creator of the Indian Removal Act. During Obama’s second term, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew opened proposals for a new face on the $10 bill over ten months.

Immediately, a group called Women on 20s insisted that Harriet Tubman should be honored, not on the $10 bill, but the more common $20 bill to oust Andrew Jackson. They noted his less-than-stellar history of supporting slavery and relocating Native Americans. Unfortunately, the push for Tubman on the $20 bill means it won’t be updated until the planned 2030 or later redesign, whereas the $10 bill was slated to be redesigned in 2026. The treasury department has confirmed the change by 2030, but promises and efforts to speed up the transition to the new $20 bill have gone unanswered.

This group relates to class in various ways, including representation of gender and race across America. It's no secret that primarily, the white men of history adorn textbooks, monuments, and other historical representations, and the group Women on 20s is out to make a change. This movement draws connections to the work of Alma Lopez and her representations of Chicana Feminism in her work. Lopez’s famous mural Las Four draws a unique connection between gender and race, similar to including Harriet Tubman, a black woman, on the $20 bill.

Las Four not only uniquely represents Chicana Feminism, but it was also intentionally placed within the Estrada Courts Mural site. This site contains a mural by Ernesto de la Loza called Los Cuatro Grandes, celebrating four male heroes. Las Four’s placement within this site draws attention to the underrepresentation of women as historical figures and works to remedy it.

In a parallel fashion, the movement to put Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill will be the first person of color and woman on US currency while simultaneously expelling Andrew Jackson, a pro-slavery and anti-Native American politician. The movement toward broader representation of women and people of color in America has made great strides in recent years. Although it still has a long way to go, the inclusion of Harriet Tubman, among others, on our currency is a monumental step in the right direction.

Independent voters are significantly concerned about Trump’s mishandling of classified national security materials and other Trump affronts to the rule of law. 61% say they want the various Trump investigations to continue.

And while Trump Republicans claimed that the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago would energize their own base, it ended up energizing the Democratic base even more.

Also, Democrats have closed the enthusiasm gap with Republicans over the 2022 midterm elections. That’s most likely a result of the reaction to the GOP-dominated US Supreme Court’s overturning the constitutional right to abortion.

Of course all the polls in the world don’t mean anything unless we all turn out to vote this autumn.

If Sophie Nelisse secured her Emmy nomination last episode, Melany Linskey did it in this one.

I was so nervous but so into it. I was like Shauna, look at me, don't do it. I just love when talented people get to show their talent

Tai saying "Something ate Jackie" poor girl didn't even know what she was doing. She is going to hate herself for that. However, the others, or just Nat probably, hate themselves because they were conscious when they did it.

Love Van saying "You ate her face" Like, girl get your shit together we are tired. It reminded me of this scene in Class of '07

The teens keep spilling blood without noticing.

Except for Ben, who probably is going to die from starvation and is next on the menu, all of them ate Jackie. All of them are part of it, except maybe for Taissa, but we know she is alive, so how are they going to choose who is next.

Why are they hunting pit girl? What this girl did to not be part of the team? Shauna said she had peeled human flesh, so we know they did it consciously and not possessed by the wilderness.

I want to watch them give in into the wilderness so much.

Theories that I've read that got me thinking:

Lottie has her cult in the wilderness, and that's where she took Nat. Now, we have seen in the trailer that Misty found Nat in there. Maybe Walter and his boat are going to help her with that.

Lisa is Shauna's baby, and Lottie took her in when she went back from Switzerland. Lottie said Shauna is having a boy and Lisa's actress is transgender, so maybe it's possible.

I disagree that they are eating the baby. In the case that it's not Lisa, ofc, I think they would sacrifice the baby so the wilderness gave them something to survive. Like Natalie spilled blood, and it gave them Jackie, then Shauna spilled blood, so it gave them the birds.

Randoms thought about the episode:

I strongly believe that Moose wasn't real because It disappeared with no noise, and those things are gigantic. Nat needs to take Lottie's beverage before leaving.

Strawberry lube is for bisexual and goths. Ok, show me bisexual Shauna, perhaps.

Adult Shauna gets excited about the unknown, while Teen Shauna is scared of it.

Adult Nat needs to change her clothes. Please, I'm begging.

Watched nothing today, I ate my meal to the Donny Hathaway live album (standout short track is his rendition of Jealous Guy).

Dealing with a carer going through a mental breakdown, too agitated to take time off. It's all eggshells and very very careful planning. Decisions make her panic except her panic manifests as being combative or catty. We're all frazzled from being soothing and having to think thrice before we talk.

I tried to watch a 'the right opinion' video yesterday and was certain that I had bad audio processing disorder, i kept rewinding over and over but still the same issue so i opened another video by a wordy brit to check and no it's that TRO is using specific words with connotations that don't quite match the context so my brain sort of short circuits. The essays are padded far beyond my patience and the refusal to take any side throughout both clear examples and conclusions is painful. I ended up watching at 1.75 speed to see it through. Dude is writing essays like in high-school when you have to fill 4 or 6 A4 pages.

I'll save you two hours in 5 seconds: Blaire White is to trans what Candace Owens is to black.

Here's the minute take: Blair White is a 'not like the others' republican 'pick me' trans girl and has been unwaveringly so since before gamergate. For her public, she is their token trans woman who validates their opinions (surprise, she dislikes all minorities) Whether she is actually insecure about enbies and non gender conforming trans folk doesn't matter, mocking and demonising them has made her rich and influencial. They say "If in doubt, assume ignorance over malice" ... but for anything touching the political right, assume GRIFT. This is not nuanced it is bad. Real people have been harmed by her misinfo. Justice starts with deplatforming and reparations. I despise that youtube recommends her and Jordan Peterson. Hope she feels trapped in that Feminine Mystique gilded cage of a lifestyle.

I also saw a young woman ranking the best lesbian movies 'ever' and she's 17, she didn't know Melanie Linskey from the oldest film on the list 'but I'm a cheerleader' and I'm like this is so cute and she's going to find a whole new bunch of films that are going to blow her mind from the comments section when the older folks and cinema fans wade in. 🤗

Here's an amazing photo sis took of her puppy Talia, she says she might be a chihuahua person for life now!

6 days in, Talia was totally comfortable with me, no more skittering away or trembles. She knows she's home and safe. We're household n4 for this doggy so that's great. Lily is spending more time around her but has set boundaries (no jumping on her, no play biting, no nose up her butt). 😂

Hmm drama actress is more open/fluid than drama actor this year tbh…The only other lead actress contender Netflix has is Laura Linney. Winona has never been nominated for ST so I feel like she’s kinda a nonstarter atp. They might do an additional more minor push for Simone. She’s a burgeoning it girl and has a good narrative, I can see it—even if her performance hasn’t been as widely acclaimed at JB’s. Millie Bobby Brown and Hoyeon will be prioritized for supporting actress over Charithra and/or Ruth.

Bridgerton benefitted by being a pop culture phenomenon in a weak/uncompetitive year. Netflix are also the best award campaigners. I think it’s locked for creative categories, but much less likely to get a series nomination again. Netflix already has Ozark, Squid Games and Stranger Things. And I think it says a lot about their Emmys intentions that they’re releasing ST like 3 days before the eligibility cut off. Netflix getting 4/8 slots seems unlikely, and Bridgerton is the most likely to lose out imo.

That sounds cool and I’d love for it to happen! Anything that springs Simone’s career forward but I actually think that the competition for lead actress is stiffer than you think.

Sure Netflix’s slate for female leads may be light but even with Netflix’s campaign machine I think the award nominations are actually pretty locked up as it is between Zendaya for Euphoria (who I think will win), both Sandra and Jodie in Killing Eve, Laura for Ozark, Melanie Linskey for Yellowjacket (my pick for should win—seriously watch this show) there’s a sixth spot there I wonder if they’ll throw Winona a bone with ST finally but more likely I think Jennifer Aniston is the favorite to round out the category.

I would love to Bridgerton’s cast to get recognized but I’m not sure if this is the year it happens. This was a great year for TV so it’s definitely not a mark against them just big competition.
