Using StormWatcher (more under the cut):
Lisbet Hark: And I’d love to be sorry for that, but we all know I’ve done much, much worse.
Kib: Oh, so when crows remember people who wronged them and hold grudges, its “intelligent” and “really cool”.
Kib: But when I do it, I’m “petty” and “need to let it go”.
Merieh: I don’t think the therapist is supposed to say ‘wow’ that many times during their first session with a client, but here we are.
Daran: So what do you have planned for the future?
Merieh: Lunch.
Daran: No, like long term.
Mam: When I first met you, I did not like you.
Merieh: Oh...um, dinner?
Lisbet Hark: I'm aware of that.
Mam: But then you and I had some time together.
Lisbet Hark: Uh-huh?
Mam: So I’m the only one around here who can clean up, huh? You can't even lift a finger?
Mam: It did not get better.
Daran: *lying down and crying*
Kib: Do I get to pick the finger?
Daran: And what do I get out of this?
Kib: There, there. Why don’t you take some time off to not be around me while you’re like this?
Kib: I will give you a dollar.
Daran: What do you think I am? A chump? I would never do it for a dollar!
Kib: How bout two dollars?
Merieh: Kib won’t come out of their room!
Daran: You got yourself a deal.
Daran: Just tell them I said something.
Merieh: Like what?
Daran: Anything factually incorrect.
Merieh, shrugging: If you say so.
Kib: I told Daran that their ears turn red when they lie.
Kib, arriving moments later: Did you just say the sun is a PLANET?
Merieh: Do they?
Kib: No.
Merieh: Then why did you tell them that?
Kib: Because I can do this.
Kib: Hey Daran! Do you love us?
Merieh: You are irrationally angry 365 days a year.
Daran, with their hands over their ears: No.
Kib: Well, that’s just your personal opinion, I don’t have anger issues. Do you guys think I have anger issues?
Mam: I haven't slept in seventy-three hours.
Mam: Well, I wouldn’t really call it an issue. An issue is something you can fix.
Merieh: Eighty. Democratically elected leader of insomnia.
Kib: Bitch, it's been ninety for me. I'm going for an even one hundred.
Daran: You guys are fucking terrifying.

Happy WBW! What hairstyles are popular in your world? Are these hairstyles you can do at home or ones that you'd have to pay a professional to get done?
Hey, Nopal! Thanks for the ask, lobe!
So, I hadn't really thought about it, but StormWatcher has a very clear hairstyle trend:
MANAGABLE.
Lots of my characters either have short hair or long hair that they always keep tied up in some forn or fashion. Every style would have to be able to be done at home as the only kind of professional would be if there happens to be a hairstylist in your neighborhood.
Home haircuts, choppy bobs, braids, bandanas, and other kinds of management are the norm.
(Side note: this is one of the ways Lisbet Hark is clearly a StormWatcher; her hair is long, down, and clearly styled in some way.)

Happy STS! I hope you’ve had a good week :D what would be a “perfect day” for your OC? (answer for as many as you like!)
Hello, lovely! Thank you for the ask! ❤️
As I'm trying to touch on StormWatcher as much as possible, I'll start with those darling characters:
Kib - It's storming. Rain and lightning and thunder. Something she can stand out in and relish. She wakes up to it, spends the day sitting on its edge, studying it, categorizing, analyzing. She convinces her sister to stand out in the rain with her.
Merieh - Mam makes her dad's pancakes for breakfast and so she wakes up to the memory of her parents. Kib and Mam don't argue for once. Later in the day, Daran comes over bringing some archived movies with him that they sit on the floor together to watch. Kib sneaks into her room at night and they lay on their backs side by side. It doesn't thunder once.
Daran - His mom lets him leave the house. Mam greets him with a smile and Merieh lets him hold her hand. Kib calls him stupid but doesn't mean it. It rains but doesn't thunder.
Mam - She's had her good days. Her daughter was alive. Her granddaughters were young and full of life. And StormWatcher hadn't yet taken everything from her.
Lisbet Hark - Her pants are pressed, perfect in their perfect creases. The facility is bright and bustling when she arrives. She takes the head of command and everyone listens to her every order. The world is her well-oiled machine.
Thank you so much for the ask, darling!

Daran - great or rip (Gaelic or Muslim)
Henna (Mam) - home-ruler or blessed (Germanic or Muslim)
Lisbet - God's promise (derived from Hebrew Elizabeth)

Happy STS! For any story, what one plot point, if removed, would change the story completely? - 🌠 (@enchanted-lightning-aes)
Hey, love! Thanks for the ask!
Going with StormWatcher again:
Because I don't have a lot of the story worked out, I'm just gonna go with the inciting incident.
If Lisbet Hark didn't take notice of Kib, literally nothing would happen. Kib would continue to live with her family, hating her life, and she would never discover anything of the world around her.

Thank you @winterandwords for the tag!

No pressure tagging: @ehlaaaaaaaa @jlilycorbie @kirsten-is-writing @bookmarks-reviews @regalserpent @frankensteinshimbo @midnight-clover & leaving an open tag!
Here are seven snippets from the short story version of StormWatcher:
1. Long before my time, people would sit around their storm lamps with cards and blankets, tucked away in their closets and bathrooms and underneath their stairs. It was all watches and warnings, all ghost stories and fun. It was all a game.
It was a diluted fear they turned into entertainment.
2. “How far away-”
“At least 5 miles,” I interrupt. “Nothing to worry about. It’ll pass.”
“But what if-”
“It’ll pass,” I repeat.
Merieh’s hand sweats in mine, but I won’t pull away. A scaredy-cat she might be, but my big sister was always there for me. Though I don’t remember the storms before we moved, I can recall her face peering over mine, arms wrapped protectively around me. I’m determined to repay the favor in whatever way possible.
3. Mam always says I have a habit for not biting my tongue. I think she just dislikes that I’ve turned out more like her instead of Merieh and Mom.
4. Her eyes flash towards me, reflecting the lightning. Dark hair collects the raindrops as she pulls out from under it. Even her skin reflects the elements. She has that sun-kissed look that no one in my generation has ever seen up close. However, it’s her movements that tie it all together. She moves the way the wind blows in a front, which is however suits her. A tornado could rip through the school, but this woman would still be standing.
5. “No, Denia!”
Merieh lets out a little sob, her fork dropping. I watch Mam cover her mouth in sadness, then her face goes back to vacant and distant.
“No. No, Kib.”
It’s been so long since I’ve heard that name. Mam never speaks it. Merieh always just calls her Mom. Only a few neighbors ever mention her by name. Neighbors including Lisbet Hark.
Denia was my mom.
Mam thinks I’m going to turn out like my mom.
Dead.
6. Merieh was distraught, tugging on my arm as I emerged. “No. Kib, you can’t go!”
I looked at my big sister and I thought about how much I was going to miss her. But I wasn’t going to miss this. Not counting the seconds for her, not getting pulled out of the rain, not having to face her judgmental eyes at every turn. “I have to.”
7. Years ago, I used to stand out in the rain, face up to the sky, dreaming of a day where I could escape storm shelters and being scared of lightning and of Mam’s talk of the Eye. But I had it all wrong.
Somewhere deep inside of me, I have always known the truth.

StormWatcher:
Kib: Be careful, I thrive on negative attention.
Daran: I love the term 'partners'. Are we dating? Are we robbing a bank? Are we the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies and are members of an elite squad known as the special victims unit? Who knows.
Mam: Why would you think any of this was a good idea?
Kib: Probably because I’m a dangerous sociopath with a long history of violence.
Mam:
Kib: I don’t know how you keep forgetting this.
Daran: Do you have any skeletons in your closet?
Kib: Literally or figuratively?
Daran: I have to specify?
Kib: I wish I had more enemies.
Lisbet Hark: I’m sure you will someday, honey.
Kib: We need more help. Maybe I should call my friends.
Mam: ... Your what?
Kib: My friends.
Merieh: Are they saying “friends”?
Mam: I think they're being sarcastic.
Daran: No, no, no, this is delirium, they've cracked from being awake all night. Hey, Kib! All of your friends are in this room.
Kib: I have other friends! You asked me to make new friends, I made new friends! It was a task. I complete tasks.

Find The Word (×2)
Thank you @sam-glade & @drabbleitout !
No pressure tagging: @acertainmoshke @barnmousecries @curhartwrites @ehlaaaaaaaa & my open tag!
Your words are: BASE, COOK, FELLOW, & BEE.
My words were: know, knife, keen, and kind & rain, firm, garbage, and regret. All over the place this time; origin under each excerpt. Hidden under the cut.
Know
Neither Merieh nor Daran are Potentials. Though they’re probably the smartest people I know, Merieh’s trauma and Daran’s stubborn loyalty to her keep them out of the StormWatchers’ testing pool.
Knife
- StormWatcher
Ignoring the blood, I picked up the knife and set to work cutting them loose. They were silent. That told me all I needed to know.
So desperate to stay Songbird, I forgot their talons get cut.
Keen
- Animatronic Saga
We didn’t stop walking until Aster tripped. I wasn’t keen on the idea of stopping at all, but the stubborn boy refused to get up, yanking his scarf down despite my groan of protest. “Can’t we… just stop… for a minute to two?”
I threw my hands up in frustration but pulled my scarf down after uttering a few select cuss words. “Your minute or two is different from mine.”
“Well not all of us have nonexistent pain receptors.”
Kind
- an post-apocalyptic story of mine
Early in the morning, the beach is almost empty, meaning Daniel and I are safe to walk hand in hand, him in a pair of swim shorts and me in the kind of sundress I'd usually mock and some silly hat a vendor all but forced onto my head on our way here. But Daniel's looking at me like I'm a goddess reborn.
Rain
- Animatronic Saga short story
The wind has picked up since I was outside. There is no sign of Lisbet Hark, but I didn’t expect there to be. StormWatchers never hang around long. I think that’s what I envy most: the freedom. Follow the storm. Chase the wind. I try not to edge too close to the rain, but Merieh still eyes me warily, sticking to her perfectly-centered beeline for home.
Firm
- StormWatcher
Then the world was silent.
I tried to move, but whatever was on top of me was holding firm. I felt something warm and sticky dribble onto me. I had to move.
Garbage
- Animatronic Saga
“You stupid coding piece of garbage!” The tablet collided with the wall, probably shattering the already ancient screen, but I didn’t have it in me to care. Quickshot could add it to my bill. “No help.” A headache was creeping up my neck and into my temples, threatening to make my bad day worse. “Absolutely no help at all.”
Regret
- Animatronic Saga
“Would you start over? If you could, I mean.”
Eyes clouding over, I watched as she departed into her restart. Was it better? Or did everything still end here? Did she regret it? “Yes,” she whispered. “I would.”
- Animatronic Saga

Happy STS!
How would your characters react is they went through a body swap?
Hello, love! Thank you for the ask!
Hmmm... Gonna tap into StormWatcher:
Kib would literally be lucky to even notice. All fingers, all toes, two working eyes? Great. She'd be mad about getting Merieh's long hair or Mam's older body. Becoming Lisbet Hark would be a dream. If she found out she was Daran, she'd do something stupid and embarrassing that he'd have to face the consequences of later-- assuming the swap is temporary.
Merieh would be freaked out no matter whose body she got. It would just be weird and freaky and she wouldn't like it.
Mam would be very freaked out. Kib looks she did when she was younger and Merieh looks like her daughter, so either of those would be very weird. She'd hate to be Lisbet Hark.
Daran would have a blast, no matter whose body he ended up in. He'd probably draw on Kib's face as a joke though, before realizing he has to walk around like that.

Happy STS! What sides do your OCs take in the "hotdogs are a sandwich v.s. hotdogs are a taco" war? (Or how do they respond when you ask that question?)
Hey, love! Thanks for the ask!
Gonna ask the StormWatcher cast:
Kib - From a scientific standpoint, a hot dog does meet the requirements of a sandwich.
Merieh - This is the folly of classification. You're over-categorizing. The question isn't: "Is the hot dog a sandwich?" but "Does clasifying the hot dog as a sandwich simplify anything?"
Daran - To Kib: "It's a taco." To anyone else: "No, a hot dog isn't a sandwich or a taco."
Mam - I don't care what it is, just eat it.
Lisbet Hark - What is this 'hot dog' you speak of? You mean that by-product sausage? No, thank you. I don't care what it is. I'm not touching it.
