so now i want to know what you think of drain gang and also just like scene kid aesthetics. this is not a remotely loaded question, it has nothing to do with my ex, very impartial,

no idea what drain gang is but dont get me wrong i LOVE scene aesthetics. the obnoxious homoeroticism. the implied neon lights everywhere. these belts

and when scene music is good it's REALLY good but unfortunately so so much of the mainstream stuff is. bad. both just listening to it and when you actually pay attention to the godawful lyrics

but the AESTHETICS. it's emo but with more colors what more could you want.

i think "scenecore" is a pointless affectation either you're scene or you're not and just admitting that scene is dead, but in general i have very little patience for "-core" stuff that is about existing subcultures. "gothcore" just say goth. ffs.

i also really liked the diy aspect i saw a lot of when i was into scene (i called it "neon goth" bc i didnt listen to the music lol)---kids whose parents wouldnt let them shop at hot topic for whatever reason make do. hands up if u made elbow-length fingerless gloves out of tights lel

also shoutout to oversize hoodies those are the REAL scene/emo aesthetic of my memory. all the emo/scene/punk/goth/nu metal kids at my school were either too poor for the hot topic closet or had strict parents who wouldnt let them shop there, so we all just wore oversize hoodies and glared at people. shoutout to the aforementioned glove-makers, kids who weren't allowed to dye their hair black, kids who either weren't allowed to wear makeup or whose family didn't let them buy THAT kind of makeup, curly-haired alt kids, the 1 guy at my middle school brave enough to paint his nails, alt kids who ran hot and so forewent the typical oversize hoodie for the anonymous XL grey t-shirt, the guy who dressed normal but wore a weird ring/pendant all the time, girls who got dress-coded for wearing hats to school,

anyway while writing this response i looked up "drain gang" on both wikipedia and google images and i still have no idea what it is as an aesthetic movement. but my thoughts are: the only thing worse than american white guy rap is european white guy rap.

if u wanted me to say i disliked scene aesthetics then im sorry. but in my opinion everyone who actually dresses scene is a poser real scene kids look like they live in the sewers and bite every living thing they see
