I don’t ever think I’ve heard a dumber theory tbqh. My man Tyrion was really thrown out with the bathwater by some people huh. :/ He deserves the benefit of the doubt here?

But then again this is a fandom that theorized Sansa would betray Jon for Petyr or that Arya would kill Sansa for Jon or that Dany would just burn down every single city in Westeros she was trying to conquer and feed every Lord she meets to Drogon or that Bran has been the Night King all along (or will become the Night King).... this whole fandom really thinks every character is capable of the worse sort of evil.... (Unless you’re Jon Snow, in which case you are perfect and can do no wrong).

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*

Now that I think of it, since I usually stay away from The Discourse within fandoms, I don’t know a lot of opinions. However, one glaring example of this is Clexa. While I never shipped it, I could understand why people would but some incredibly vile behaviour from some hardcore stans automatically made me despise it.

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?*

Not that I can recall, once I dislike something, it’s really hard to change my mind.

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*

Oh, this is a loong one so just the ones on top of my head:

Characters:Spike (BTVS) - when I was around 15 I watched the show for the first time and worshipped Spike while hating Angel. Now while I still love Spike in seasons 2-4 (and 5 kind of), I can’t stand him later on considering what he does to Buffy.

Rory Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) - it’s not so much the case as I can’t stand her because she does have some qualities that I admire but the more I think about this show the more Rory to me appears to have grown into a spoiled entitled brat who is constantly put on a pedestal by everyone around her and I’m just not a fan of that. Basically not the best decision for the protagonist of the show.

Betty Cooper (Riverdale) - I’m super conflicted about her because before I watched the show I was sure to like her but then I saw how she was written as this perfect Mary Sue and suck up the narrative from other, more interesting characters. I still need to see more of the show to decide whether I really can’t stand her anymore or not though.

Caleb Rivers (PLL) - I just don’t know. I was never that invested in Caleb as a character (though I adored him and Hanna) but the whole Spaleb thing, it just made him look like a fuckboy who can sleep with Spencer one day and then tell Hanna he never stopped loving her the next. It’s more of an awful writing choice but still.

Julia Sallinger (Party of Five) - I’m still watching the last season of the show but the more I watch, the more I can’t stand Julia. At first she seemed like any normal teenager who’s lashing out after losing her parents so I sympathized with her but as time went on, she kept making the same mistakes and getting herself into these predicaments and her annoying tendency to fix other people’s problems because she can’t fix her own just got too much. Not even Neve Campbell’s portrayal helps this case.

Cory Matthews (Boy Meets World) - same as with Julia, as the series went on, I started to like Cory less and less because his good qualities seemed to diminish while the bad ones took over and he got more and more hypocritical, judgemental, wrapped up in Topanga’s asshole and treating Shawn like an inferior human being.

Octavia Blake (The 100) - she seemed to straigten herself a bit in season 4 but I was completely turned off by her physical violent streak and the whole beating of Bellamy was atrocious.

Relationships:

Spuffy (BTVS) - same as Spike.

Ezria (PLL) - in the first two seasons the whole ‘forbidden romance’ angle was appealing in a way, but then it just got boring/dragging, and once the whole ordeal with Ezra’s book happened I was ready to set fire on both of their asses for sucking out screentime from more entertaining characters.

Ross/Rachel (Friends) - like probably most people, I shipped them in my scattered watches as a teen but once I properly saw the show, I saw how incompatable and underdeveloped they actually were and how they just brought out the worst in one another and I just couldn’t ship them afterwards.

Freffy (Skins) - idk, I thought it was cute but then I realized how obssesive and idealistic Freddy’s love for Effy actually is and it just turned me off the ship.
