LO RAMBLE/THEORY

(It’s probably not going to be coherent so bare with me)

Does anyone think that Zeus constantly goes to the mortal realm because it was his first home? Bare with me it’s a far-fetched theory but hear me out….

Zeus was raised by nymphs until Rhea came and told him that he needed to fight Kronos. Now, Zeus was raised by a group of nymphs who he considered his mother/mothers, he was also constantly moving from place to place because Kronos was going crazy, so when Rhea came and told him she’s that she’s his mother and that he needs to rescue his brothers, and fight his father…yeah needless to say Zeus’s life was thrown upside down.

RS doesn’t give us much information about how Zeus rescues his brothers, how he developed his powers, or anything that isn’t Hera being a double agent (which is clever in its own right but wasn’t written well). RS doesn’t give us much on the aftermath when the war ended. My personal head-canon was that Zeus wanted to stay in the mortal realm but since he drew the metaphorical short in of the stick, he’s stuck ruling Olympus.

It goes back to the nymph prejudice problem, with Zeus ruling Olympus it shouldn’t exist. Nymphs were his first family. Also, while not condoning his constant cheating and just being a horrible partner, but maybe it’s easier for Zeus to connect to nymphs than his family and the other gods. But since Zeus developed a reputation as a serial cheater, Hera’s prejudice and the rumor mill on Olympus, the nymphs most likely put their guard up around him. So Zeus was rejected by the people he was raised around, we don’t know what Zeus’s adoptive family thinks of him but guessing since he was going to ask them to raise Dionysus…we can guess that their still close. We know that Zeus is close to Poseidon and Hades but I’m guessing he’s closer to Poseidon than Hades, since he’s more stand-offish.

Small rant about LO (pls don’t attack me, just my opinion):

I like Lore Olympus well enough. It’s the comic I like to read to indulge myself. The art is fine, the writing is fine, everything is just fine.

However, my main gripe with LO is the lack of diversity in body and face types, especially in female or female-presenting characters. I know it can be hard to have diversity in face and body type when webtoon has such strict deadlines (or so it has been explained to me), but even in the beginning of the comic, the bodies were more diverse. Now everyone just looks the same.

Like please give the women different noses other than cute and curvy. I beg you. There are so many beautiful types of noses out there and believe it or not, they’re not that hard to draw. I would love to see Persephone or even Aphrodite with a “bigger” nose (see below)

What about the bodies? Again, at the beginning of the comic, you saw the different body types. Minthe was tall and thin and Hera was shorter and lean (but still taller than Persephone). Persephone was short and curvy; she had a bit of weight on her too (nothing wrong with that ofc). I loved her rolls and stretch marks. Aphrodite, on the other hand, was tall and curvy. Artemis was tall and muscular because she's athletic. I just- *keyboard smash*

Please for the love of god. I just want a little diversity. I feel like I could swap the color pallet of pretty much any character and you wouldn't even be able to notice the change because all the female/female-presenting characters look exactly the same. I think it's ridiculous that even today, people have to scream and bargain for diversity in characters

At some point, I want to redesign the Lore Olympus ladies. I've already seen a bunch of beautiful redesigns on here so far and I have a lot of ideas already.

LO RANT

I know that it’s been said before but the prejudice against nymphs in LO just confuses me especially when there’s four people, Artemis, Persephone, Zeus and Poseidon, who shouldn’t stand for it.

The obvious one is Persephone. She was raised around nymphs especially since Zeus dumps a lot of his lovers in Demeter’s domain, it would be some tension between them. Persephone having some beef or hate for the guy who dumps his ex-lovers on her mother’s doorstep would be interesting. Also nymphs were worshipped along the major gods in a local capacity.

Zeus because he was raised by nymphs and the was going to send Dionysus to the nymphs who raised him is much smarter than leaving him with Persephone and Hades. It also bothers me that he just lets Hera call Minthe ‘nymph trash’ and just generally bullies her.

Poseidon. He’s married to Amphrite, an Ocean Nymph, also along aside the Ocean Titan and gods, wouldn’t his kingdom be mostly populated by ocean nymphs?

Last, Artemis. We really don’t know much about her especially since she’s supposed to be Persephone’s friend/roommate. Since Hera banished Leto from Olympus, if RS stayed faithful to the source material, we don’t know how how she hid the fact that Artemis and Apollo are Zeus’s kids, and how the two moved to Olympus. In a lot of myths about Artemis, she hunted with a group of nymphs, so where LO Artemis’s nymph crew? Was she and Apollo raised with nymph nannies?

Lore Olympus is like if you put Greek Mythology in a pan, mixed it with your average Melanie Martinez songs, 13 Reasons Why, Euphoria, Twilight, and Riverdale; then burn it in the Wattpad Baker 1000, and try to cover up the absolute burnt monstrosity with one of those artificial pink frosting that tastes like battery acid and piss.
