The Natural Hair Guide To The Wash and Go
So I’ve been natural for over 7 years now and I have finally perfected my wash and go!
A few things I had to realize in the process is that my hair and your hair are completely different! I couldn’t purely rely on the girls I watched on YouTube, social media or even family! It was a process of trial and error! I was a hoarder of products, ask me about a product I’ve probably tired it - seriously.
In order for me to get the perfect mix I started with the LOC method! For anyone that doesn’t know it stands for LIQUID, OIL AND CREAM! Here is my process - I hope this can help any of my fellow naturalistas out there!
LIQUID
Traditionally this is anything you use to moisturize your hair- usually water to start. I like to mix my leave in conditioner with water in a spray bottle. Now if my hair is freshly washed, I want to add in that I usually don’t rinse out all of my conditioner. I like to leave a little in to maintain that soft texture and keep my hair damp. I suggest a lighter leave-in, I use MIELLE Organics Pomegranate & Honey (which smells amazing btw) for my wash and go!
Remember: You are layering your hair!! Locking in the moisture and trying to maintain those curls! Making sure your products mesh well is extremely important - I learned the hard way that a lot of products just sit on top of each other which doesn’t benefit your hair at all!
OIL
Okay, I like to call my oil combination my hair crack lol! I should bottle this stuff but for you guys I will give you the ingredients:
Tea Tree Oil - great for you scalp
Vitamin E or Castor Oil - very thick oil but very good for growth & moisture. I suggest you use a little or depending on your hair it can become very oily.
I suggest your last oil should be something that agrees with your hair. If you like a smell good oil then this is the step to add a little something for smell.
CREAM
In the first step I spoke on mixing my water & leave-in-conditioner in a spray bottle to start. If you are like me, this is where you would create a combination. I combine a little gel into my spray bottle. I use the Olive Oil Eco Style.
Remember: Make sure the products are being even distributed- I like to split my hair up into 8 parts, while finger coiling as I place the gel in as one of my final steps.
FINAL
The last step is to DIFFUSE your hair. If you don’t have a diffuser a regular blow dryer will work just fine. Flip your head upside down and push your curls upward! I dry my hair about 75% and let the rest air dry.

Excuse my dusty dresser...lol...but these are the products I’m currently using. They keep my hair very moisturized when used regularly. With my hair this short, that’s basically all I need to do right now...keep my hair moisturized.
I wash and condition my hair once a week. Then I put on the spray, oil, and cream (in that order...the LOC method (liquid, oil, cream)). I use the loc method every other day to keep my hair moisturized.

The L.O.C. Method: Best Order for Your Hair Type & Products
The L.O.C. Method: Best Order for Your Hair Type & Products
As a natural hair stylist I have experience with multiple textures.  Hands down the L.O.C. method is one of the best ways to moisturize and retain moisture regardless of hair.  But it may not work the same on every hair type. Being so, it’s important to know how to make it work for your hair in order to maximize moisture and keep hair as healthy as possible.
If you’re confused about your hair…

Moisturizing Method for Natural Hair
As a person with natural hair, I am constantly researching ways to take care of my natural hair. There are so many websites out there that inform the viewer about many ways and many products that can help keep their hair in shape, and even grow it. One particular method I use is the LOC Method (Liquid, Oil, Cream).
Before I explain to you guys what you do, you need to have these things:
Liquid/Water-based Leave in Conditioner (with Glycerin to help moisturize (optional))
Oils (Olive, Avocado,Coconut, Jojoba, etc (recommend humectant oils))
Cream
Now let’s get started!
So what you do is apply water/leave-in to your hair, from root to end. Massage the hair strands for a little while. I recommend adding glycerin to the water mix so you can retain the moisture. Now you apply the oils. I recommend humectant oils so it can seep into the hair strands, rather than sitting on your scalp and doing nothing. Again Massage the hair strands. Lastly, you put in a heavy, water based cream to seal up everything. After massaging the hair strands, you will notice a difference in your hair!
Products that I use for the Method:
Water w/ Now glycerin
Taliah Waajid Hydrating Curl Shine (contains a blend of avocado, olive, and coconut oil)
Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream (as the heavy water-based cream)
I hope this helps you guys

Hair Porosity: LCO vs. LOC Method for Lasting, Layered Moisture
Hair Porosity: LCO vs. LOC Method for Lasting, Layered Moisture
Moisture retention is one of the biggest healthy hair concerns for many naturals. Thanks to science, the quest for the perfect thirst-quenching product is a bit easier now than it was before. Turns out, for most of us, there is no one-item wonder. Sealing in moisture takes at least two steps, and in some cases, three. Wondering which routine will work best for you? Well, that involves knowing…

Tips for Transitioners
Tips for transitioner
Here’s a little help to make your transition a little bit easier.
Tips
1. I definitely recommend that you treat your hair slightly the same as you did when you were completely relaxed when you FIRST start transitioning. Some people try to tell you to switch your life up completely and in reality, that doesn’t work for everyone. Based on experience, heat free styling did not completely work for me. My relaxed hair HAD to be blow dried or else it would tangle. 2. Get natural friendly shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners and oils. that’s it seriously. You don’t need anything else. You don’t need a curl definers. You don’t have ANYTHING TO DEFINE!!! lol Relaxed hair will hold a better bantu knot out with just oil than if it was caked on with products. Once you big chop, you can experiment with curling soufflés and curl definers to find the right one for your kinks and curls. Relaxed hair doesn’t always react well to curl products. So be very careful. 3. You don’t have to break the bank buying products you’ll probably never use. In reality, we get excited about the journey we are getting ready to go on. And we buy EVERY ITEM in the natural hair care isle thinking we just HAVE to be prepared for everything. And to be real, you don’t need half of it. I bought I ton of stuff in 2012, and I still have a BOX full of products. That I have yet to touch.. 4. When you get a few inches of natural hair, you will definitely take care of the relaxed portion and the natural portion differently. I kept my relaxed hair dry. But I moisturized and sealed my natural roots every other day. I used a leave in conditioner and an oil to seal in the moisture on my natural roots and just oil on my relaxed portion. Then I would proceed to style, mostly bantu knots, my hair as usual. 5. Be patient and pay attention to your OWN head. I say this to say ONE thing. NOT EVERY HEAD OF HAIR IS THE SAME. The way you choose to transition is solely up to you and the way you choose to live your natural life is only yours. What works in one person’s head may not work in yours or vice versa. Have patience. Your hair will grow out the MORE you take care of it. You don’t have to take pills and growth supplements to grow your hair. BUT to each it’s own. 6. Trim your relaxed hair monthly to avoid putting too much weight on the demarcation line. The demarcation line is where your natural and relaxed hair meet. You want to decrease the amount of tension in order to avoid breakage!!
If You have any additional questions, feel free to post them in the comments below OR you can fill out the contact form and send me an email!!
  Happy Transitioning!!

I hope people who say “omg I want curly hair so bad”
realize
a) how expensive this shit is, hair oils, leave ins, sulfate/paraben/whateverthefuck free shampoo is not cheap!!! Curly cuts, are NOT cheap. Satin pillow cases/hair wraps, are not cheap!
b) how high maintenance it is- I can’t just wash my hair and walk how the door- FUCK NO. It takes a MINIMUM- I repeat- a MINIMUM of 6-8 hours for my hair to dry. If I wash my hair at 12 a night you best believe this shit might not be dry at 8 am the next morning. Hair dryer you say? Not a chance, I would be a literal cloud floating in the sky, no thank you.
c) Ya never know what you’re gonna get. One side could be wavy with a side of frizz from hell while the other side is perfect ringlets, your hair has a mind of it’s own and it hates you.
d) The weather is your worst enemy.
e) the constant, constant battle of frizz and forever goal of 2-5 day curls (ugh, will I ever get there?)
Like HELL YEAH, curly hair is the bomb.com and I love it and rock it and would have NO IDEA how to live life with straight hair...but man, please know it can be a real struggle.

I am Using Hair Oil But…My Hair is Still Dry!
Using oil and wondering why your hair is still dry? The answer is simple.
