the reason why you think your natural hair is expensive is because your wasting your coin on products that do nothing for you and only buying them bc they use clicky words and use ingredients that are currently going viral on social media
buying a bunch of products to test if it works for you<<<<<going to a curl specialist or doing an online consultation with one and them telling you exactly what you need (ie. if you need a clarifying treatment, a moisturizing treatment, protein treatment, etc.) and directing you towards the properly formulated products that can deliver the results you want
Why do white people, non-blacks, and people with non-coily hair want to be in the Natural Hair Movement so bad?!
Like- look at this!
These were the comments to a YouTube short: responding to a Tiktok comment that said straight hair is natural(which is what happens when you let the curly Shirley’s into the movement because y’all wanted to be INcLUSiVE)
Btw, black people did start the first natural hair movement in the 60s. It was known as the black is beautiful movement, and have had natural hair shows 70 years ago. Don’t suddenly care about our shit when your people wouldn’t even want to go near it and call our hair nappy no less than 3 decades ago.
Do you know any great websites or charts that accurately illustrate examples of type 3 and type 4 hair? I’m trying to figure out my hair type on YouTube and all of the video titles are inaccurate. One min I’m 3c and according to the next video I’m 4b.
Here's a snippet excerpt from a youtube video I'll also link that I've felt illustrates it well. It's on a channel for a natural hair youtuber I've been following for some years who, imo, meets stellar representation of monoracial Black Women w healthy natural hair (while also disproving notions ab Black Women not being "able" to grow their hair long as well). It's not her length that's important, but the video at least provides knowledge she has about what she's learned about her own texture, curl pattern, & maintenance w/ the same diagram for the 1a-4c spectrum — which helped me understand what my own curl pattern was (3c) in the heyday. Anyhow, Ebony (the youtuber) is great. Check her out.
Also, you v well could have a mixed texture. You could be part 3c in some areas, 4a in another section, etc. It's not uncommon for Black People since our curls can have such a variety to shape, tightness or looseness, etc.
Since I’ve started vlogging on Youtube, I’ve noticed in some of the comments on my videos that a lot of people feel like I’m judging other people’s hair or haircare choices. That couldn’t be further from the truth. My goal has always been to educate black women about their natural hair and the healthiest ways to care for their hair based on my own research and experience. You don’t have to like…
Black ppl really got the worst dysphoria when it comes to our hair. it’s actually terrifying
calling yourself bald headed when you in fact have hair on your head is insane. the damage we have gone through at the hands of our Black peers (friends/family/classmates) & non-Black counterparts has done irrevocable damage to our mental.
Yeah, let’s talk about this cus I’m still having to deal with this when it comes to my hair. My hair is 4A-4B, and there is nothing more frustrating than trying to find a hairstyle tutorial video and there’s nobody with your curl pattern. It’s just loose textured girls and women( cus let’s be honest, it’s mainly the non black and biracials girlies doing this) popping up in the search results.
Then they have the nerve to get upset when we say that having wavy hair doesn’t mean you can be in OUR natural hair community and start calling us the Curl Police because we dared to exclude the non black girls from OUR OWN MOVEMENT!
