MUN QUESTIONS.

Q1 : If you could write your character your way in their own movie, what would it be called, what style would it be filmed in, and what would it be about? A1 : Blood Moon; an action packed drama about M’yhe’s life growing up and the pitfalls that make him eager to seek happiness and redemption in his current life.

Q2 : What would their soundtrack/score sound like? A2 : IT... VARIES... But honestly I’ve always been a fan of folk music, and so has M’yhe. Music by Blanco White is pretty close.

Q3 : Why did you start writing this character? A3 : I made M’yhe around 6 months into having started FFXIV. My ex and I were trying a new server, and making alts there. I had a previous M tribe character, M’iaho, who I made because the more I learned about the plight of Gyr Abania, the more the concept of a tribe from Gyr Abania became interesting for me. But M’iaho was a very irresponsible Nunh who claimed his title by accident, and as fun as that was to play, I wanted someone who was a bit more grounded and grumpy. M’yhe was actually supposed to be a bunny from the Gold Saucer who just happened to be able to read fortunes AND was from Ala Mhigo, but I became really invested in him and his character. He was interesting to me because of his background in the occult, and so he just grew from there (and I ended up leaving the Bunny concept behind). He would always be my favorite go-to character that I would play when I needed to get into a place of destress. Because he was so seemingly carefree on the surface, his natural mischief made his interactions with others fun, and helped me branch out and find new friends when I needed it most. Toward the end of my relationship, I would use him as a crutch to give me a happy place to turn to. I placed so much love and work into him that when I finally made the decision to be free for myself, I took him with me. And while he grows, I continue to grow too. So... he’s a very personal character that was kind of born out of my subconscious desire to break away and be free. And now that we’re both in happier places, I’m relishing getting to play him growing as a person. World knows I am too.

Q4 : What first attracted you to this character? A4 : Honest to god I just wanted another catboy? But one that I could connect with more. The first two I made were fun, but not what I was looking for in terms of a character. Also yeah, all the above stuff too. I wanted to explore the concept of finding personal freedom after being in a place where I didn’t feel like I had much.

Q5 : Describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse. A5 : M’YHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A LOT RUDER but I’m too soft to be terribly mean. Each time M’yhe makes a stupid life decision a little part of me dies.

Q6 : What do you have in common with your muse? A6 : We’re both adept tarot readers! But that was obvious. So less obvious is that we would both kill for oranges. (I can’t eat oranges though, sadly, because I’m allergic to them, so I get to live my citrus impulses through M’yhe).

Q7 : How does your muse feel about you? A7 : Real talk I don’t think M’yhe would find me especially interesting and I don’t blame him.

Q8 : What characters does your muse have interesting interactions with? A8 : Because he’s such a charismatic character... really he can bounce off of just about anyone? But I really like the characters that are able to peel away his charismatic exterior and get to actually make him act as the kinder and softer person he can be deep down. I like the people who get him to say his cryptic wise quotes without a shred of sarcasm. M’yhe is a very manic character and can sometimes feel so on top of the world that when he’s grounded and serious are sometimes my favorite times to write him.

Q9 : What gives you inspiration to write your muse? A9 : Music, honest to god just me imagining scenarios... and also my lovely as FUCK Free Company, Nightraid. As well as Coeurl’s RP community as a whole. I mean, I know it’s cliche to say. But I have a lot of people there who plot and poke fun at scenarios with me, they always keep me on my toes and keep me thinking of the next story beat. They’re all amazing and lovely people, and while there are things I miss about being on a more populated RP server like Balmung or Mateus, Coeurl is my home and damn if it isn’t M’yhe’s too.

Q10 : How long did this take you to complete? A10 : Do I mention the fact that I finished like half of this and then took a 3 month hiatus or what

Scars: Various battle scars all along his arms, torso, and legs. His back is utterly blanketed in gnarled lash-marks.

most noticeable features: Size and build. Due to his mixed heritage, he has Seeker-eyes and Keeper fangs. Though he has numerous scars across his body, he normally is fully armored and thus it’s difficult to see them unless he’s in a state of undress.

siblings: Lurial, who is his elder sister by a year.

parents: Mother - Siha Ashir, Keeper from the Black Shroud.

Father - V’rahn Nunh, Seeker from a V-Tribe living in the mountains of Gyr Albania close to the Lochs.

V’rahn was originally a Tia, but cheekily changed his last name to Nunh upon having children, claiming he was ‘starting his own tribe’. The V-Tribe he originally came from never officially recognized this and when warriors came to confront the fact that he wasn’t a true Nunh, Siha challenged them all to physical combat and soundly defeated each one. They stopped bothering V’rahn afterwards.

parental involvement: Mother and Father were highly active in Tiergan/Lurial’s lives and were extremely attentive parents. They also had numerous lovers that, once reaching a certain position of trust, were allowed to act as secondary mother/father/aunt/uncle figures to the children if they showed an interest.

This all brutally ended with the Fall of Ala Mhigo.

ADULT LIFE

occupation: Gladiator-slave and then later a mercenary/sell-sword once Tiergan gained his freedom.

current residence: Ul’dah in a home purchased for him by a beloved friend who acts as an older-brother figure to him.

close friends: Tiergan has very few close friends, though he does have a handful of very different individuals cares about tremendously and met under mysterious circumstances - as well as the members of the Astral Advent.

All of these qualities don’t have to be in one person. Tiergan will find himself drawn to a soft, compassionate, intelligent person as much as he would a rough, powerful, adventurous person.

love language: Mostly physical and some softly murmured words. Tiergan has a hard time voicing emotion as after Ala Mhigo fell, he grew up in an environment that discouraged it. His affection comes through in the way he touches you, in long, lingering glances, the way he smiles softly or with hunger.

relationship tendencies: Due to extreme trauma in his romantic history (most of his lovers have either died, harmed him, or were tied to memories of great harm), it can be extremely difficult to draw Tiergan in anything close to a romance. The wrong approach can trigger a reaction that ranges from discomfort to full on panic. When he realises he’s falling for someone, he tends to wrestle with it quietly or outright avoids that individual entirely.

MISCELLANEOUS.

hobbies to pass the time: Exercise, reading, exploration and travel, eating new food.

mental illnesses: Has struggled with depression, anxiety, and paranoia as a result of his history, but gradually recovering over time through the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP. Previously struggled with a deep addiction to certain drugs, but has since kicked the habit.

physical illnesses: His back is incredibly sensitive due to the heavy scarring and damage done to it long ago. It sometimes aches and bothers him, particularly during certain weather conditions. He habitually sleeps on his stomach because of this.

left or right brained: Unsure!

fears: Fear of losing people and fear of making new relationships both romantic and platonic. Tiergan struggles with Survivor’s Guilt and a Fear of Loss/Abandonment after years of numerous deaths, losses, and the departure of many beloved figures in his life due to circumstances no one could control. He deeply fears losing people for this reason and as such, deeply fears making new bonds and connections as each new bond he makes leaves him more vulnerable and increases the risk that he will inevitably lose someone again.

Tiergan also fears a loss of control as he spent half his childhood and most of his adult life being honed for a singular purpose with much of his agency ripped away from him. Now that he has the ability to choose, he always desires to be in control of himself and everything that happens to him. (Though life doesn’t always work that way.)

self confidence level: Very high when it comes to very specific things such as combat. Very low in nearly every other regard.

vulnerabilities: Reckless, impulsive, highly emotional, extremely ill-equipped for how to deal with situations that can’t be solved by stabbing something repeatedly and vigorously, tends to get anxious easily in said situations where stabbing is not the answer

Weird things I believed as a kid, a list for no reason:

-My granddad was Captain Picard. Evidence: they’re both cool bald guys.

-My granddad was bald because they shaved his head at the hair salon. I didn’t realize hair could grow back. I was terrified when I got my first haircut.

-Salons and Saloons were the same thing, and that cowboys challenged each other to duels in hair salons, their main hang out.

-The Loch Ness monster was the Lock Neck monster, and that’s why she was so seclusive, her neck hurt. My afforementioned grandpa (who’s from Scotland) corrected me on this. I assumed he must know her personally.

-”My bonnie lies over the ocean” was “my body lies over the ocean” and the song was about a person who died drowning and was now a spirit, far away from their corpse floating in the sea, wishing to be whole. Yeah, dark.

-Barbies were alive. Quite a common belief for a kid, except a lil concerning when I did things like see how long they could ‘survive’ in a freezer.

-See also: biting the feet off my animal crackers so they “wouldn’t run away.”

-”It’s raining men” was about thousands of men falling to their deaths from the sky. I somehow didn’t question why the singer was so excited about it.

-Come to think of it, my child self was kind of scary.

-I thought ‘sexual orientation’ meant losing your virginity, and that was why I was attracted to multiple genders, cause I hadn’t ‘done it’ yet.

-That my Hogwarts letter was just late (part of me will always believe this). I used to write notes for Hagrid and hope he’d find them.

Nach den ersten Stunden am Strand kann es sein, dass die Kinder schon fragen, was sie denn nun spielen könnten. Wir konnten es schon erleben, wenn die kleinen keinen Anschluss finden und wollen dass man etwas Hilfestellung gibt 🙂 Daher ein paar Ideen, was Eltern vor dem Strandbesuch überlegen könnten, damit der Ruhe auf dem Strandtuch nichts im Wege steht und die Kinder glücklich sind. Klassiker: Muscheln sammeln am Stand

Muscheln am Strand – gerade in La Marina ist das ja ein Traum 😉 wir sollten mal zeigen, was wir schon daraus schönes gebastelt haben.

Muscheln am Strand sammeln kann gerne Stunden dauern: Das Kind bringt gefühlt alle 30 Minuten die schönsten Trophäen und Fundstücke zurück zum Handtuch. Die schönsten nehmen wir gerne zum Basteln und als Deko für unser Zuhause. Oft bekommt auch jeder der Freunde ein ganz besonderes Stück mitgebracht. Da man aber nicht immer die Muscheln oder Schneckenhäuser vom Strand mit aus dem Land nehmen darf – hier sollte man sich an den Schildern informieren, gibt es auch noch andere Beschäftigungen für den gelungenen Strandtag. Eine direkte Alternative sind Hüpfende Steine: Wer besonders flache Steine sammelt, eröffnet das erste ‘Hüpfende Steine’ Spiel, bei dem der Spieler gewinnt, dessen Stein am häufigsten über die Wasseroberfläche sprang, kennt doch jeder 🙂

Wenn wir lange genug in der Sonne gelegen haben und die Kinder doch mal etwas Langeweile bekommen, hat sich das ¨Grußkarten in den Sand¨ schreiben schon immer bewährt. Die klassische Postkarte hat es heute etwas schwer gegen WhatsApp und Co und die Kinder haben schließlich heute oft schon ein eigenes Handy.

“Hat demnächst nicht jemand Deiner Freunde Geburtstag? Oder möchtest Du nicht einen echten eigenen Urlaubsgruß an jemanden senden?” Wenn ich dann in fragende Augen blicke, suche ich mir einen Gegenstand, mit dem man in den Sand malen kann und mache es einfach vor – die Begeisterung schlägt schnell über, denn solche kleine ¨Kunstwerke¨ lassen sich ja vielfältig nutzen. Entweder sendet man diese nur über Soziale Medien wie Facebook oder man benutzt eine echte Postkarten-App um das Bild einfach als eine echte Postkarte via Post versenden zu lassen. Gekaufte Postkarten sind ja langweilig – selber machen ist heute total in, freut die Beschickten doppelt und man kann diese Fotos später selbst nochmal drucken lassen.

Welches Spielzeug für den Strand?

Mit dem Eimer am Strand reicht vielen Kindern auch oft schon aus. (Auch wenn es zu Beginn noch heißt, “….das ist doch für Babys” 😉

Über Eimer und Schaufel möchte ich kein Wort verlieren, das sollte ja jeder wissen. Aber es gibt ein paar ausgefallene Spiel- und Sportgeräte, die auch die Blicke anderer auf sich ziehen, wie wir schon erlebt haben. Geschicklichkeits- und Ballspiele am Strand kennen wir, doch die Frisbee-Scheibe gerät unserer Erfahrung nach immer mehr in Vergessenheit. Wer eine Schippe dabei hat, kann sich schließlich auch mit dem Sandburgenbau beschäftigen oder jemanden eingraben, was in der Sonne auch immer wieder gerne erlaubt wird 🙂

Sandfiguren mit kräftig komprimierten Sand bauen. Dazu muss der Sand gesammelt werden und mit Druck oder stampfen hoch verdichtet werden. So hält eine Sandfigur (oder auch Sandburg!) viel länger ans andere und lassen sich mit Pinsel und Stohhalm toll im Detail modellieren.

Murmeln an den Strand mitzubringen kann auch viel Laune machen! hier kann man das klassische Mini-Boule Spiel (‘Wer wirft näher an das Loch’) spielen oder aber im Wettbewerb mit anderen Kindern eine Murmelbahn aus Sand bauen, bei dem der Spieler gewinnt, dessen Murmel am längsten rollt.

Welche Sportspiele am Strand?

Wenn es nicht zu voll am Strand ist, macht es auch viel Spaß den Fussball am Strand auszupacken. Beachvolleyball oder Beachball ist nicht ganz so anstrengend, wenn es heiß ist und die oben genannte Frisbee lässt sich auch im kleine Kreis ideal spielen. Strand Boccia oder Boule spielen macht auch älteren Menschen viel Spaß und ist mit dem passenden Drink auch sehr chillig. Softball mit einem Softballschläger erfordert ebenfalls viel Raum, ist aber auch eine oft willkommene Abwechslung am Strand. Krocket spielen ist im Gegensatz dazu wie Boule ein schönes Spiel für alle Altersklassen, die sich ein wenig beim Spiel bewegen möchten. Wenn die Kinder mögen, können sie auch ein Weitsprungfeld anlegen. Der klassische Weitsprung im Sand, bei dem jeder Sprung mit einem Stock oder Stein markiert, erfordert nicht das Einpacken eines Metermaß.

Stand-Boule mit Freunden spielen erfordert kein explizites Spielfeld, dies kann auch mit einem Stück Holz in den Sand gezeichnet werden. Hier waren wir im “Kinderstrand” in Torrevieja, da gibts sogar auch ein Feld. Doch selbst in der Urbanisation in La Marina sind mir schon welche aufgefallen, oder?

Drachen am Meer steigen lassen

Wind ist am Meer fast immer genug um einen Drachen oder Kite steigen zu lassen. Wenn der Strand voller ist, würde ich dazu raten, von einem Kite abzusehen. In den Händen von Einsteigern kann das für andere Strandbesucher schmerzhaft enden, denn diese Geräte brauchen für eine gute Führung schon etwas Training und Geschick. Nicht so der Drachen, obwohl es auch hier Modelle mit schlechten Flugeigenschaften gibt. Wir haben nach einigen Fehlversuchen dieses farbenfrohe Modell bei Amazon gefunden, das beste und ruhige Flugeigenschaften bietet.

Ein Evergreen: Am Strand von El Pinet einen Drachen steigen lassen ist nahezu wetterunabhängig möglich 🙂

Boomerang werfen am Strand

Wer Lust auf etwas körperliche Betätigung hat kann sich auch mal einen oder mehrere Boomerang mit in den Urlaub nehmen. Das Werfen ist nicht so schwer wie viele denken und recht schnell erlernbar, wenn man dazu einen Boomerang für Einsteiger verwendet. Wir haben diese Leidenschaft im Campingurlaub in Dänemark wiederentdeckt. Hier bekommt man die Sportgeräte, im Gegensatz zu einem Urlaubsland wie Spanien, in fast jedem Laden zu kaufen. Der große Unterschied zwischen Profi- und Einsteigerboomerang ist die Fluggeschwindigkeit und wie sehr das Gerät einen Wurffehler verzeiht. Einsteigerboomies fliegen einen weiteren Bogen und sind nicht so schnell, was das Fangen leichter macht. Bitte unbedingt aufpassen, dass keine Leute in der Nähe liegen oder laufen – es könnte zu einer sehr schmerzhaften Erfahrung werden!

‘Save the Planet’ – Müll am Strand sammeln

Mein Lieblingsspiel nach dem Chillen oder Buchlesen ist das Müll sammeln. Das Meer geht uns alle an und je früher unsere Kinder das begreifen, desto besser. Natürlich lässt sich sagen, ‘warum soll ich jemand anderens Müll wegräumen?’. Doch stell Dir vor, wenn alle so denken würden!? Sicher wird das nicht jedem Spaß machen, doch am Strand Müll zu sammeln hat nicht nur einen großen Nutzen für unsere Natur: Der Effekt auf anderen Badegästen ist nicht zu verachten. Zum anderen ist es interessant, wenn man erkennen kann, woher der Müll stammt, denn dieser kommt nicht so oft von den Badegästen wie man glaubt. Vieles ist von Schiffen aus allen möglichen Ländern und wer weiß, wie lange der Müll schon auf dem Meer geschwommen ist, bis er ‘hier’ ankam. Ein Wettstreit, wer mehr Müll zusammenbekommt ist natürlich auch sehr sportlich und hier sind keine Grenzen gesetzt. Ein weiterer Nebeneffekt für Kinder ist die Erinnerung und was man später davon erzählen kann. Die Kids für das Thema Umwelt zu interessieren ist heute schließlich viel wichtiger geworden.

Geben Sie sich doch das Versprechen, jedes Mal, wenn Sie am Strand sind, wenigstens ein Stück Abfall einzusammeln, das jemand weggeworfen hat. Viele Dinge sind nicht nur gefährlich für das Leben im Meer (vor allem Netze und Plastik), mancher Müll braucht sehr lange bis dieser in der Natur abgebaut wird.

Hast Du gewusst, dass ein weggewehtes Eispapier über 2 Jahre und der zugehörige Eisstiel 10 Jahre braucht, bis dieser abgebaut wird? Da sich Algen darauf ansiedeln, werden diese zu einer großen Gefahr für die Fische, die vermuten das Ganze wäre dadurch essbar, weil so viel Nahrung darauf wächst. Also … spielt doch auch dieses Spiel am Strand und helft unsere Natur etwas länger zu bewahren. Danke!

Aufwand und Zeit

Damit alle Sachen gut austrocknen/aushärten können sollte man sich 2 Tage einplanen. Am 1. Tag backen und Deko erstellen. Am 2. Tag der Aufbau. Wer noch nie mit gespritzter Sahne gearbeitet hat, sollte dies üben oder mehr Zeit einplanen.

Backen: Dauert ca 1,5 Stunden wovon 45 Minuten die Backzeit ist.

Vorbereitung für Ohren und Horn

Alles was man für das Einhorn Horn und die Ohren brauch

Zuerst solltest du dir das Werkzeug und die Zutaten für das Horn und die Ohren bereitlegen, im Idealfall bereitest du das Horn und die Ohren einen Tag vorher vor, so kann das Fondant noch aushärten.

Also legst du Fondant, rosa Farbe, Kleber, Zahnstocher und Spieß bereit. Als Werkzeug benötigen wir Stift, Backpapier, Handschuhe, Fondantausroller, Messer, Unterlage und Pinsel.

Das Fondant teilst du in 2 Hälften. Eine Hälfte legst du in einen Gefrierbeutel. So kann man sich Zeit lassen und verhindert, dass dies austrocknet. Bevor es los geht, zieh die Handschuh an. Das Fondant was vor dir liegt färbst du jetzt ein. Das Fondant knetest du erstmal zu einer Kugel und drückst dann mit dem Daumen eine Delle rein. Dann nimmst du mit einen Zahnstocher 2 Zahnstocherspitzen rosa Farbe und streichst die Farbe, in die eingedrückte Stelle, auf das Fondant. Den Zahnstocher am Besten gleich wegwerfen. Jetzt muss die Farbe eingeknetet werde, dazu drückst du Fondant über die Delle und fängst dann an das Fondant mit den Daumen durchzumassieren. Das machst du solange bis das Fondant eine einheitliche Farbe hat. Dann legst du das rosa Fondant in einen Gefrierbeutel, so kann es erstmal wieder fester werden. (Gerade bei Anfängern oder warmen Temperaturen wird Fondant schnell warm und weich.)

Das Horn ausarbeiten

Jetzt nimmst du vom weißen Fondant 3/4 ab und rollst daraus mit den Händen eine Schlange die an den Enden so dick ist wie eine 1 Cent Münze. In der Mitte sollte die Schlange etwas dünner sein, dies wird die Spitze des Horns. Das gleiche wiederholst du mit der gleichen Menge an rosa Fondant. Achte darauf das eine Schlange glatt ist und nicht die Druckstellen von deinen Fingern hat. Mir ist es beim ausrollen auch passiert, dass man genau sehen konnte wo die Finger gedrückt haben. Fang lieber nochmal von vorn an, als irgendwas gerade zu drücken. Sollte das Fondant zu weich werden, wechsel erstmal auf das rosa Fondant und pack das weiße in einen Gefrierbeutel. Wenn du eine rosa und eine weiße Schlange hast, nimmst du dir einen Pinsel und den Kleber und streichst die Oberseite von der weißen Fondantschlange dünn mit Kleber ein. Danach drückst du, ganz leicht/sachte, die rosa Schlange an die mit Kleber bestrichene Seite des weißen Fondant. Dann bestreichst du die Oberseite von den verklebten Schlangen dünn mit Kleber und eine der langen Seiten. Danach nimmst du das eine Ende der Fondantschlangen und führst es zum anderen Ende der Fondantschlangen und wieder leicht/sachte andrücken. Das geöffnete Ende hälst du fest und drehst die Fondantschlange an der Spitze so in eine Richtung, bis sie aussieht wie ein Horn vom Einhorn. Die dünnere Seite noch leicht mit den Fingern ausstreichen, so dass sie wie eine abgerundete glatte Spitze wirkt. Das Ende schneidest du gerade ab, so dass das Horn die gewünschte Länge hat. Jetzt hast du das Horn fast fertig. Nur noch den Schaschlik Spieß mit Kleber einstreichen und mittig und gerade von unten in das Horn drücken. Vom Schaschlik Spieß sollten noch gut 5 cm zu sehen sein. Zum austrocknen stellst du das Horn aufrecht hin einfach in einen Karton stecken oder Verpackungsstyropor. Ein Trinkglas eignete sich nicht.

Die Ohren ausarbeiten

Für die Ohren rollst du ein jeweils Untertellergroße und dünne Fondantfläche vom weißen und rosa Fondant aus. Anhand der Vorlage oder Freihand zeichnest du jeweils 2 Ohren auf die Fläche und schneidest diese mit dem Messer aus. Wichtig: nicht drücken nicht ziehen und am Besten aus den Ecken schneiden. Um die Fransen kümmern wir uns am Schluss. Jetzt nimmst du dir die beiden weißen Ohren und 4 Zahnstocher. Die Zahnstocher streichst du halb mit Kleber ein und legst jeweils 2 Zahnstocher auf ein Ohr. Jeder Zahnstocher sollte ca 2/3 (siehe Bild) an der Ohrenunterkante mit der mit Kleber bestrichenen Seite ins Ohr reinragen. Die Zahnstocher leicht ins Ohr drücken. Jetzt kommt das rosa Ohr dran, die Rückseite streichst du komplett dünn mit Kleber ein. Dann legst du das rosa Ohr so auf das weiße Ohr, das ca 0,5 cm Rand vom weißen Ohr zu sehen sind. Den Überstand vom rosa Ohr schneidest du jetzt in höhe des weißen Ohrs ab. Mit einem feinen Pinsel streichst du nochmal über den Rand der beiden Ohrenteile, so verschwinden dann die Fransen vom schneiden des Fondants. Die Ohren am Besten auf eine Rolle Alufolie oder den Fondant Roller legen, so können die Ohren aushärten und bekommen die Wölbung einer Ohrmuschel.

Die Augen ausarbeiten

Die Augen werden aus zartbitter Kuvertüre erstellt. Einen Riegel Kuvertüre schmelzen. Die geschmolzene Kuvertüre füllst du in einen Spritzbeutel mit kleiner Loch-Öffnung. Über die Vorlage der Augen legst du Backpapier und legst auf eine freie Fläche des Backpapiers den Rest Kuvertüre. (Backpapier ist glatt und würde beim Malen wegrutschen.) Zur Sicherheit machst du mindestens 3 Augenpaare. Wenn beim Auflegen eins kaputt geht hast du gleich Ersatz. Die Augen kommen dann in den Kühlschrank. Tipp: Mit der restlichen Schokolade kann man noch Silikonformen füllen, so hat man dann auch gleich die Nervennahrung erstellt.

Wenn Torte, Ohren, Augen und Horn ausgehärtet sind, kannst du dich an die Fertigstellung der Einhorntorte machen. Die Torte wird mit dem Spachtel grob, nur nicht zu grob, mit Sahne bestrichen. Dann ziehst du mit Palette die Sahne glatt und gerade. Du kannst auch ein Lineal oder Brotmesser nehmen. Jetzt solltest du eine mit Sahne verhüllte Torte haben. Jetzt suchst du dir an der Torte die schönste Fläche, diese lässt du frei für das Gesicht.

Einfärben der Sahne

Die restliche Sahne in 4 gleiche Teile in Gefäße füllen(Zum Beispiel: Müsli Schalen). Schale 1 mit 1 Zahnstocherspitze rosa, Schale 2 mit 2 Zahnstocherspitze rosa, Schale 3 mit 1 Zahnstocherspitze lila, Schale 4 mit 2 Zahnstocherspitze lila. Mit einem Esslöffel verrührst du die Sahne bis sie gleichmäßig eingefärbt ist. Jetzt füllst du eine Portion Sahne in einen Spritzbeutel mit Spritztülle. Am besten markierst du mit den ersten Spritzern punktuell den Ponny der Mähne und arbeitest dich nach hinten und leicht seitlich mit Spritzern oder kringeln. Danach setzt du hier und da einen Spritzer, bedenke du musst noch Platz für die anderen Farben lassen. Das wiederholst du jetzt mit den anderen Sahne Portionen. Am Ende sollte man den Platz fürs Gesicht sehen können und eine geschlossene Mähne haben. Damit der unteren Teil des Gesichts einen schönen unteren Rand hat, mit einer Farbe von der Mähne einen kleinen Rand aus Punkten spritzen. Die Sahnepunkte oder Kringel kann man noch mit Perlen auf hübschen.

Jetzt platzierst du die Augen im Gesicht, dazu löst du mit einem Messer das Auge vom Backpapier und platzierst sie, ohne sie mit den Fingern anzufassen (da sie zu schnell schmelzen), eine Auge auf der Messerspitze. Die Enden des Auges sollten von der Messerspitze wegzeigen. Jetzt führst du das Auge so an die Stelle wo du es platzieren möchtest, dass die Spitzen sich leicht in die Sahne drücken. Dann kannst du mit dem Messer langsam nach unten gleiten und das Auge klebt dann automatisch an der Sahne, das selbe machst du mit dem anderen Auge.

Ohren und Horn kannst du, muss aber nicht, gut mit Glitzerpuder einsprühen. Tipp: Im Freien einsprühen, die Küche glitzert sonst noch sehr lange. Dann kannst du Ohren und Horn in die Torte stecken. Am Besten so weit, dass das untere Ende in der Sahne verschwindet.

Il nostro viaggio continua, prosegue l’on the road in Scozia, ripartiamo quindi da Druberg con destinazione finale Edimburgo. La prima parte la trovate qui.

Ci siamo fermati a Drumberg e da qui ripartiamo. Procederemo lungo la tortuosa e panoramica North Coast 500, e oggi lo sarà più del solito, infatti questo lato della costa, il lato Ovest lo è particolarmente. Ma andiamo per ordine…

GIORNO NOVE: da Drumberg a Gairloch (km 170). Luoghi visitati: Achmelvich, Loch Assynt, Ullapool, Gairloch.

È il nono giorno del viaggio, ci troviamo a casa di Jenet e Greg, la splendida Tor Druim e siamo qui seduti davanti a una ampia vetrata da dove è possibile ammirare il loch baciato da sole del primo mattino, in attesa di ricevere la colazione. “Here we go!” ed ecco Greg che arriva con uova e salmone, inutile dire buonissimo il salmone.

Controlla qui il percorso e il tempo di percorrenza!

Carichiamo i bagagli in auto e salutiamo Greg e Jenet, promettendo di tornare qui! Da dove ci troviamo, Culkiem Drumberg, ci sono due direzioni da prendere, quella verso est Kylesku, da dove siamo arrivati e andati a cena e quella verso ovest Lochinver, verso la quale procediamo. In realtà per raggiungere Loch Assynt, il tratto più breve è quello ad est, ma noi procediamo verso ovest, ma noi vogliamo dare tappa a Achmelvich.

Sin da subito il tragitto a una single track road regala scorci incredibili come un romantico lago, che non posso non scendere a fotografare. Proseguiamo sempre più a Ovest, verso Lochinver, si trova a 14 chilometri da Tor Druim, a circa 30/40 minuti di auto i tempi sono gli stessi per raggiungere Kylesku, data la single track abbastanza articolata e comunque affascinante. Ed è il posto dove fare spesa più vicino, qui si trova anche qualche ristorante.

Prima di arrivare a Lochinver, grazie a una deviazione di una ventina di minuti andiamo a Achmelvich Beach, una bella spiaggia bianca, ambita meta di surfisti.

Passato Lochinver, la strada diventa a doppia corsia, molto scorrevole. Raggiungiamo il suggestivo lago di Loch Assynt e ci fermiamo aa ammirare le rovine dell’Ardvreck Castle che si adagia sulle sponde del lago e si vede dalla strada. Il castello risalente al XVI secolo venne costruito dal Clan Mac Leod. Per raggiungere il castello bisogna attraversare un piccolissimo corso d’acqua, l’ideale sarebbe avere delle scarpe impermeabili che io non ho, quindi mi tolgo le scarpe e attraverso, per lo stupore dei presenti, l’acqua è freschissima e bellissima, comunque dopo di me lo fa anche qualcun altro!

Ardvreck Castle

Continuiamo verso Sud fino a Ullapool, che rispetto a tutto ciò che abbiamo incontrato negli ultimi due giorni è quasi un “paesotto”, siamo nel nord ovest delle Highlands e qui i villaggi si diradano lasciando il posto alla natura, una natura diversa rispetto a quella più verde e rigogliosa dei villaggi dell’est, qui si esalta la roccia ricoperta di erica, infinite distese d’erica viola.

Da qui partono i traghetti diretti alle Ebridi Esterne ed è anche un’ottima base per esplorare la regione del Western Ross. Abbiamo già in mente in un nostro prossimo viaggio di concentrarci su questa parte della Highlands, la zona nord ovest, che stiamo visitando un po’ troppo di corsa.

Abbiamo la necessità di fare qualche lavatrice, la troviamo vicino a un grande supermercato, lasciamo i nostri indumenti a una gentile signora che ci dice di tornare fra un paio d’ore. Ci rechiamo nella zona vivace della cittadina, quella del porto, una strada dritta separa l’Harbour dalla fila di case imbiancate a calce e locali con le vetrine puntate al mare. Entriamo in un pub per un sandwich al salmone e una birra. Con calma consumiamo il nostro pranzo ammirando il via vai del passanti e l’attività del porto, pescherecci e una grossa nave da crociera sono ancorate al molo.

Lungo la via ci sono numerosi negozi che vendono souvenir, la varietà di sciarpe, mantelle e coperte scozzesi è infinita e vien voglia di comprarle tutte. Troviamo poi un negozietto carino e molto originale dove mi sbizzarrisco fra cartoline e oggetti artigianali vari. Dopo una bella passeggiata in giro per la cittadina, recuperiamo il bucato profumato e riprendiamo in nostro viaggio verso Gairloch, dove abbiamo fissato per la notte.

Arriviamo a Gairloch abbastanza presto verso le 15.30, il villaggio affaccia sull’omonimo Loch. Ho prenotato Gairloch Hotel, a parte la posizione dell’enorme palazzo in stile gotico con affaccio su una splendida baia, null’altro di positivo da segnalare dell’albergo.

Lasciati i bagagli in camera e andiamo a fare una passeggiata sulla spiaggia e nei dintorni.

Prima di tornare in camera ci prendiamo una birra al pub; dopo una doccia e un po’ di relax andiamo a fare un giro nel centro della minuscola cittadina.

Anche con il ristorante non abbiamo molta fortuna, molti sono chiusi, siamo indecisi fra un ristorante dallo stile un po’ retrò e un pub, alla fine decidiamo per il secondo e dopo un lunghissima attesa mangiamo il fish and chips peggiore, dopo quello di Porthmaomack, della vacanza. I tutti i posti che non ci hanno ispirato per la cucina abbiamo ordinato fish and chips, ritenendoli una garanzia invece entrambi pessimi. Ci concediamo un po’ di musica e un paio di whisky al bar dell’albergo e poi a letto nel nostro lettino singolo.

GIORNO DIECI: da Gairloch a Portree (km 240). Luoghi visitati: Gairloch, Torridon, Shieldaig, Feammore, Applecross, Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Catle), Plockton, Kyle of Lochalsh, Potree.

Colazione veloce, qualche toast con marmellata e un tè e via. Voglio andarmene da qui! Dall’albergo intendo, il tragitto di oggi è particolarmente lungo, dobbiamo arrivare all’isola di Skye. Un’ultima passeggiata, di prima mattina, sulla spiaggia di Big Sands ad ammirare la meravigliosa vista sulle montagne circostanti e ci mettiamo in strada, una comoda strada a due corsie dove fra il traffico lento incontriamo le librerie mobili delle Highlands, un bus colmo di libri, che va di villaggio in villaggio a vendere libri, ma anche Morgan, Lamborghini, McLaren e Bentley, ci sarà un raduno da qualche parte…

Proseguiamo verso Torridon e poi scendiamo in direzione Shieldaig, dove le caprette in fila indiana passeggiano sul marciapiedi, che rispettose! La strada da Torridon a Shieldaig è costeggiata da un lato dalla montagna e dall’altro dal lago. Le alte montagne regalano incredibili giochi di luce e ombra, appaiono nere e le acque dei loch riflettono l’oscurità. Un atmosfera rarefatta, tetra e molto affascinante.

Da Shieldaig prendiamo a destra e continuiamo lungo il percorso della Wester Ross Coastal Trail (classico cartello stradale marrone), procedendo verso l’estremo ovest diretti a Feammore, una single track road che percorre tutta la costa, che regala un paesaggio straordinario, la strada tutta in salita passa in mezzo alla brughiera. Da qui scendiamo sempre lungo la costa fino a giungere, verso mezzo giorno, ad Applecross. Inutile dire che lungo il tragitto abbiamo goduto di un magnifico paesaggio. Le montagne color bronzo, fra la vegetazione prevale il viola dell’erica e l’erba verde sfuma fino a diventare color rame, alberi solitari dove non te li aspetti, a circondare la strada felci gialle, è tutto pazzesco, sembra quasi irreale, un dipinto.

Il villaggio di Applecross è un altro dove va fatta una sosta almeno per la notte. Dopo un caffè in un’originale locale ai margini del lago, facciamo due passi e poi andiamo a mangiare all’Applecross Inn, locale pieno zeppo e menu da favola. Salmone è la parola d’ordine, qui è da capogiro. Giorno dopo giorno mangeremo salmone sempre migliore. Il mio compagno si è innamorato di Applecross, è rimasto affascinato dal paesaggio e dai pescatori intenti alla pesca con la mosca, sulla baia del loch. Ci piacerebbe restare ma dobbiamo proseguire.

Riprendiamo il nostro viaggio verso Portree, nell’Isola di Skye e lo facciamo attraverso una delle migliori scenic route di Scozia, che corre fra le montagne e regala scenari strabilianti ed è la famosa Bealach Na Ba, questo il suo nome gaelico, ovvero Pass of the Cattle (Passo del bestiame), questa in tempi passati era infatti il percorso usato per portare il bestiame dalla penisola di Applecross ad altre zone delle Highlands.

La strada una single track road, cha va da Applecross a Lochcaron è davvero molto stretta, ripida e tortuosa e tornante dopo tornante altamente scenografica, è molto impegnativa quindi l’attenzione deve essere al massimo, incontrare qualcuno, a volte, un dramma, anche perché ai lati molto spesso ci sono degli strapiombi. Per i veicoli di grossa dimensione l’avventura è ardua, al confronto la single track che ci ha portati da Kylesky a Drumberg che mi è sembrata stancante e stata una passeggiata.

Noi abbiamo trovato pioggia e vento in alcuni tratti, ecco è sconsigliabile farla se le condizioni climatiche non sono favorevoli, d’inverno molto spesso è impraticabile. Comunque leggete bene il cartello rosso e blu con tutte le indicazioni – impossibile non vederlo è enorme -, se siete piloti dilettanti lasciate perdere. Per godere del maggio spettacolo l’ideale sarebbe una giornata limpida, ma qui è questione di fortuna!

Proseguiamo verso il pittoresco villaggio di Plockton seguendo il periplo del lago, per poi proseguire in direzione di Locharron diretti a Kyle of Lochalsh da dove si prende lo Skye Bridge che ci porterà sull’isola, ma prima facciamo una piccola deviazione per raggiungere il celebre Eilean Donan Castle, il castello più fotografato di Scozia.

Attraversato il ponte, puntiamo in direzione Portree. La strada è scorrevolissima e nuovissima a doppia corsia Il nostro navigatore ci porta direttamente a destinazione al nostro alloggio per le prossime due notti a Skeabost View Pods, prenotando con 5 mesi di anticipo abbiamo trovato anche un prezzo discreto, tenuto conto che Skye è un luogo molto inflazionato e i prezzi degli alloggi mediamente alti. Skye è l’unica isola facilmente raggiungibile grazie a ponte. Qui il mio articolo con tutte le informazioni sull’Isola di Skye: itinerari, luoghi da visitare e molto altro. L’host, Anne, gentilissima e disponibile, ci vede arrivare e ci conduce al nostro pod (bungalow), è l’ultimo dei quattro messi in fila, sull’uscio una lavagnetta a forma di cuore con il mio nome, avevo comunque ricevuto via email tutte le informazioni su come accedervi nel caso fossi arrivata ad orari strani. Il pod è piccolo e molto ben arredato e confortevole, un letto, un divano, il bagno piccino con ampia doccia e angolo cottura con bollitore, tostapane, microonde e stoviglie. Nel frigo: latte, marmellate, burro e pane da toast per la colazione. Nella loggetta esterna due sdraio a diretto contatto con la natura e un barbecue.

Dato che dobbiamo rimanere qui due notti, decidiamo dopo la doccia, di recarci nel centro di Portree a fare un po’ di acquisti per riempire il frigo con birre e snack. Facciamo un giro a Portree per conoscere la città e alla ricerca di un ristorante e ci rendiamo conto che sarà difficile trovare sono già pienissimi e non sono nemmeno le 19.00. L’unico che ci dice che possiamo prenotare per le 21.30 è Cuchullin, cosa stranissima perché non sono molti ad accettare prenotazioni così tardi. Torniamo al pod e facciamo aperitivo in attesa di tornare a Portree per cena. Verso le 20 e 30 ci avvisano telefonicamente che hanno posto anche prima, partiamo spediti. Ordiniamo la nostra bella bottiglia, due squisite zuppe e salmone dal gusto mediterraneo con schiacciata di patate condite con pomodori secchi e capperi. Una delle migliori cene della vacanza.

Facciamo colazione tranquilli e rilassati nel pod e poi doccia e verso le 10.15 partiamo alla scoperta di Skye. La giornata sarà dedicata alla visita della Trotternish Peninsula, la zona più conosciuta di Skye e quella dove, per la prima volta, a parte i castelli, troviamo concentrazione di turisti.

Vi elenco comunque velocemente casa abbiamo visto, ma per le informazioni più dettagliate vi suggerisco l’articolo che ho indicato. Procediamo da Portree verso la costa della Trotternish Peninsula, quindi facciamo in senso antiorario una sorta di periplo dell’Isola di Skye.

La prima tappa è Old Man of Storr, un’originale formazione rocciosa che sovrasta la strada che costeggia il mare; poco più avanti sulla destra, una breve deviazione conduce al Rigg Viewpoint, un belvedere a strapiombo sul mare circondato da prati color smeraldo. La sensazione di pace, serenità e vertigine è palpabile.

Continuiamo poi a Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls, le cascate chiamate Kilt Rock Waterfall, dove il Loch Mealt trabocca in una cascata che si getta direttamente in mare lungo scogliere. Anche qui l’atmosfera e il panorama sono incredibilmente suggestivi.

Proseguiamo immergendoci nel Quiraing, un altopiano vulcanico dell’isola di Skye, si trova nella parte orientale del Meall na Suiramach. La strada a un’unica corsia e diversi tornanti che attraversa questi luoghi è davvero spettacolare e suggestiva. Montagne, vallate e roccia ricoperte di erba dalle molte sfumature: dal verde al rame, ed erica viola per arrivare poi a un paesaggio pianeggiante puntellato di casette bianche dipinte a calce dai tetti in ardesia grigia circondate da pecore, tante, tantissime pecore. Le famose cabine telefoniche rosse si trovano nei posti più impensabili.

Il nostro tour di oggi prosegue sempre verso nord, sino al Duntulm Sea Viewpoint che si trova sul punto più settentrionale dell’Isola di Skye e regala uno splendido panorama sulla costa con le sue con brughiere che si gettano sulle fredde acque oceaniche. Da qui un breve sentiero panoramico conduce alle rovine del Duntulm Castle, uno dei castelli del clan MacLeod, oramai in avanzato stato di rovina, dell’antica fortezza infatti rimane qualche rudere. I pochi resti del castello non sono accessibili per motivi di sicurezza, anche se sono visibili da molto vicino, ma il paesaggio circostante e la posizione valgono la visita.

Proseguiamo spostandoci verso ovest dove troviamo prima il Kilmuir Cemetary Skye, il cimitero che conserva le spoglie di Flora MacDonald, uno dei personaggi più amati in Scozia. Qui è anche sepolto lo stilista Alexander McQueen.

Adiacente al cimitero c’è lo Skye Museum of Island Life, la visita costa solo 1£, è un piccolo museo all’aperto che ricostruisce un tipico villaggio che mostra come si viveva nei croft nel XIX secolo, all’interno dei cottage con tetti in paglia oggetti d’epoca e ambientazioni che ricreano atmosfere di quel tempo, all’esterno gli attrezzi agricoli.

Continuiamo la nostra sorta di periplo della Trotternish Peninsula cominciando la discesa della costa ovest in direzione Fairy Glen, lungo il tragitto, la vista sul lato destro è strabiliante: prati puntellati di pecore e manzi (rossi e neri) al pascolo, che sfumano in un mare dalle molte sfumature dall’azzurro al grigio, con l’Isola di Jona sullo sfondo.

Giungiamo alle Fairy Glen che si trovano nei pressi di Uig, significa Valle delle Fate ed è un luogo incantevole e davvero fatato. Un ambiente originale dove una serie di avvallamenti con guglie di roccia, colline coniche ricoperte dalla vegetazione e accarezzate da un piccolo ma lucente loch.

Da qui prendiamo la strada che conduce a Portree e lungo il tragitto troviamo finalmente un localino dove mangiare, a parte qualche take away, in tutta l’area non c’è molto per fare uno spuntino. The Galley Seafood Cafe & Takeaway, è visibile dalla strada, basta salire un attimo e ci si arriva. Consigliato, c’è pure il bagno molto pulito.

Dato che è ancora presto continuiamo in direzione Dunvegan per una veloce visita al castello.

Isola di Skye: Dunvegan Castle

A poco più di un miglio dal castello si arriva a Claigan, lasciata l’auto nel parcheggio si supera un cancello in ferro e si prosegue, tra ginestre e arbusti di biancospino, lungo un sentiero che costeggia il Loch Dunvegan. Incontriamo alcuni muretti a secco e passando accanto al rudere di un’antica abitazione, in una ventina di minuti arriviamo alla bianchissima e bagnata da un mare cristallino spiaggia di Coral Beach. Sebbene il nome riconduca al corallo non ce n’è presenza sulla riva, ci sono invece minuscoli scheletri calcarei di alghe rosse, sbiancati dal sole, che donano a questo litorale un aspetto di paradiso tropicale.

Se avete tempo, da qui, in una mezz’oretta abbondante (sono 15 miglia) si arriva Neist Point, uno dei fari più famosi di tutta la Scozia e uno dei punti panoramici più affascinanti di tutta l’isola. Svetta sulla scogliera e regala uno straordinario punto di vista sull’Oceano. Il momento migliore per vederlo è al calar del sole, l’immagine romantica e suggestiva vi rimarrà impressa nello sguardo per lungo tempo. Questo è anche il luogo ideale per avvistare delfini, balene, delfini, squali e pulcinelle di mare ovvero i famosi puffin.

Tornati al nostro pod e ci godiamo il tramonto e l’aperitivo seduti all’aperto. Per cena torniamo a Portree.

GIORNO DODICI: Da Portree ad Appin (276 km). Luoghi visitati: Talisker, Egol, Armadale (traghetto), Mallaig, Morar, Silver Sands, Camus Darach beach, Glenfinnan, Fort William, Glencoe, Appin.

Da non perdersi, anche le Fairy Pools: una piacevole passeggiata vi condurrà in un luogo davvero fatato. Qui, tra i limpidi e trasparenti laghetti che si formano lungo il fiume Brittle sembra davvero di intravedere fate ed altre piccole creature, o almeno, se ne avverte la presenza.

Non lontano si trova la Talisker Bay, con i suoi sassi neri che, nelle giornate grigie, danno un aspetto davvero drammatico alla spiaggia. Nel villaggio di Talisker si trova anche l’omonima distilleria, che è l’unica su tutta l’isola.

Prima di tornare sulla mainland, rimane un pò di tempo da dedicare ad una zona di Skye che non è ancora stata presa d’assalto dai turisti e mantiene quel misterioso distacco rispetto alle aeree più frequentate: si tratta di Elgol, remoto e miuscolo villaggio di pescatori nella Strathard Peninsula. La strada per raggiungerlo è stretta, lunga e tortuosa ed è proprio questo a scoraggiare i più ad addentrarsi fin qui. Ma la vista che si ha dalla Elgol Beach vale il viaggio: da qui si ha una visuale mozzafiato sulle Cuillins che sono spesso ricoperte di nubi, con un effetto davvero drammatico.

La spiaggia di Elgol è molto bella e particolare battuta dalle fredde acque che livellano le pietre colorate sparse sulla battigia, è circondata da roccia che incisa dal tempo e dell’acqua ha assunto forme originali.

Da Elgol ci rechiamo ad Armadale, nel sud dell’Isola e ci imbarchiamo sul ferry che in mezz’ora ci porta sulla mainland, a Mallaig. Da qui cominciamo la scenografica Road to the Isles che ci conduce a Fort William. Ci concediamo un paio di soste per vedere le splendide spiagge di Silver Sands of Morar e Camusdarach Beach, entrambe spiagge di sabbia bianca e finissima che concedono splendide viste e panorami incantevoli.

Abbandoniamo la strada principale e superato il ponte dopo il villaggio di Morar, imbocchiamo, sulla destra, una vecchia strada costiera segnalata da un cartello marrone – che segnala luoghi di interesse culturale storico paesaggistico – e definita “Alternative Scenic Route” o “Alternative Coastal Route”. Giunti a Glenfinnan troviamo il Glenfinnan Monument, monumento che celebra la rivolta giacobita del 1745 e il fotografatissimo Glenfinnan Viaduct, il viadotto che è stata anche la location per i film di Harry Potter.

Superiamo Glencoe, luogo suggestivo e meta ambita per escursionisti e sportivi in genere. Arriviamo ad Appin e ci dirigiamo subito a al nostro alloggio per la notte, l’Invercreran Lodge, immerso nel bosco. Ci accoglie la padrona di casa Jackie, che ci offre un tè nell’ampio salotto all’ultimo piano con una bella vista sulle montagne. Ci rilassiamo un paio d’ore nella nostra camera (King Deluxe) moderna e dotata di ogni confort.

Andiamo a cena nel ristorante che ci ha consigliato e prenotato la padrona di casa, il più vicino alla casa: Creagan Inn Bar & Restaurant, noi ci concediamo zuppa e hamburger, dato che ci è stata consigliata la carne. Non male per una cena non troppo impegnativa.

GIORNO TREDICI: Da Appin a Luss (140 km). Luoghi visitati: Castle Stalker, Oban, St. Conan Kirk, Kilchurn Castle, Loch Lomond, Luss.

Consumiamo la colazione nel tavolo della cucina con gli altri due ospiti della casa. La squisita colazione preparata da Tony (il marito) è stata servita da Jackie che ha curato ogni minimo dettaglio nella preparazione del tavolo.

Carichiamo i bagagli e partiamo diretti a Caslte Stalker, che si trova a un paio di miglia, ammiriamo e fotografiamo il castello dal punto panoramico, Stalker sorge su una piccola isola tidale nel Loch Laich, un’insenatura del Loch Linne, nei pressi dell’isola di Shuna.

Ci dirigiamo poi verso Oban, scendendo un po’ lungo la costa. per una visita alla cittadina e alla nota distilleria. L’aperitivo oggi è a base di whisky nella sala degustazione della distilleria.

Riprendiamo il viaggio diretti verso Luss, tappa della notte, e lungo il tragitto ci fermiamo ad ammirare Kilchurn Castle e la splendida St. Conan Kirk.

Nel prosieguo del nostro viaggio ci immergiamo nello splendido paesaggio del Loch Lomond National Park sino ad arrivare a destinazione, a Luss. Un delizioso villaggio che sorge sulle sponde del Loch e che colpisce subito per le carinissime case in pietra addobbate di fiori.

Ci rechiamo subito alla nostra accomodation per la notte che è The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel, un’antica locanda in prossimità del centro, arredamento tipico e molto carino, la nostra camera ha il letto a baldacchino. Dato che siamo a stomaco vuoto da colazione dopo aver portato i bagagli in camera scendiamo per l’afternoon tea. Il resto del pomeriggio andiamo alla scoperta del villaggio. GIORNO QUATTORDICI: Da Luss a Culross (110 km): Luoghi visitati: Callander, Stirling, Culross.

Qui l’itinerario delle tappe di oggi!

Ripartiamo dopo la tradizionale colazione scozzese e circondando il Loch Lomond ci dirigiamo a Callander leggermente più a nord. La prima veloce tappa è nei pressi di Aberfoyle, si tratta di Inchmahome Priory, le suggestive rovine di un’abbazia che sorge su un isolotto del Lake of Menteith.

Continuiamo fino a Callander, ex località termale che è considerata la porta di ingresso nelle Highland, qui avremmo dovuto fare la passeggiata alle cascate Bracklinn Falls ma rinunciamo e proseguiamo diretti Doune Castle, una fortezza medievale che si trova nell’omonimo villaggio nota anche per essere stata la location delle riprese delle serie Game of Thrones e Outlander, immerso in un verdissimo paesaggio sulle sponde del Fiume Teith.

Arriviamo a Stirling la cittadina medievale che è stata l’antica capitale di Scozia conosciuta principalmente per il castello – che noi ammiriamo solo dall’esterno – e che fu residenza degli Stuart nei secoli dal XV al XVII secolo, è immenso.

Facciamo un giro della cittadina e ci fermiamo per mettere qualcosa sotto i denti. Ripartiamo da Stirling per Culross dove ho prenotato Forrester Park Resort, a 5 chilometri dal villaggio. Albergo molto bello con un arredamento curato sia nelle camere che nelle aree comuni, è circondato da un enorme parco.

Portati i bagagli in camera andiamo a visitare il piccolo borgo che ruota tutto attorno a Culross Palace, stradine strette acciottolate dove affacciano cottage dai portoncini colorati e ancora dal mare salendo la collina i muretti a secco nascondono splendidi giardini.

Il resto della giornata lo passiamo a rilassarci in hotel, dove decidiamo di cenare data l’ottima proposta culinaria.

GIORNO QUINDICI: Da Culross a Edimburgo (115 km): Luoghi visitati: Culross, Falkland.

Dopo la colazione partiamo per la nostra ultima giornata on the road, domani e dopo domani infatti saremo a Edimburgo per gli ultimi due giorni di vacanza.

Dedichiamo qualche altro momento al borgo di Culross e poi partiamo alla volta di Falkland che dista poco più di 30 miglia. Un altro pittoresco villaggio, uno dei più belli di Scozia, location della serie Outlander. Era una tappa da fare all’inizio del nostro on the road in partenza da Edimburgo diretti verso i villaggi dell’East Neuk of Fife ma per questioni di tempo abbiamo saltato e spostato sulla via del ritorno a Edimburgo.

Ci dedichiamo a esplorare la splendida cittadina che sembra veramente il set di un film. Flakland ha mantenuto tutto il fascino delle epoche passate, sembra proprio che il tempo non abbia lasciato segni di deterioramento, tutto è splendidamente conservato. Le strette viuzze adornate dai caratteristici cottage, perlopiù in pietra o imbiancate a calce. Il piccolo villaggio si sviluppa attorno alla strada principale, High Street, ma sebbene sia minuscolo le cose da ammirare sono molte come il Falkland Palace. Entriamo in qualche negozietto e poi partiamo per Edimburgo.

Arriviamo a Edimburgo e dopo aver trovato parcheggio in strada attorno al bellissimo parco The Meadows, scarichiamo parte dei nostri bagagli, l’altra parte per organizzare e entriamo al Black Ivy, un hotel in stile boutique che ho prenotato durante il tragitto da Falkland a qui.

La camera non è ancora pronta pertanto andiamo a bere due pinte poi seguite altrettante pinte e un piatto a testa nel bellissimo bar dell’albergo.

Camere bellissime come le aree comuni, dispone di bar e ristorante. Le camere sono interamente rinnovate e arredate con gusto. Ci godiamo la nostra bellissima camera un po’ e poi andiamo in Royal Mile, che si trova a circa un chilometro dall’albergo, a The Whisky Experience, degustiamo una selezione di whisky abbinata a formaggi. Fantastico!

Una sfiancante camminata, doccia e sfiniti ceniamo nel ristorante dell’albergo, abbiamo mangiato molto bene.
