I Got The Job - Mason Mount

A/N: this gif mr mount i adore u 😩 this is jus something short and sweet that i wrote on a whim just to keep y'all interested, sry it's a bit rubbish LOL anyway. here we go (yes i used this as a manifestation for my dream to work at chelsea lmao)

Job hunting was the confirmed bane of your life. Application after application, cover letter after cover letter, rejection after rejection; it seemed like an endless cycle of dead ends and failure.

You were beginning to lose hope when Mason burst in from training one day, red-faced from exertion and breathless.

‘Did you run from the Bridge?’ you asked, amused.

‘Chels are looking for a new photographer and social media person thingy!’ he blurted out. The fact that he disregarded your question quickly dissipated from your mind, and you stood up from the kitchen island where you’d been browsing Indeed for jobs, looking for anything from waitressing work to radio broadcaster at your local radio station.

‘They’re what?!’

‘Babe, they’re looking for someone exactly like you. Undergrad in journalism with extra social media and photography experience, you know the team, you love the club, it’s a perfect fit!’ He wasn’t wrong; your undergraduate had come from one of the best journalism programmes in the country, and you’d freelanced as a social media consultant for a few companies to earn some extra income.

‘What if they think I just got it because of you?’ Mason held your hands, a slow grin forming on his face.

‘This is your dream job, babe, I know it is. You’ve been supporting the club since before we even met when we were kids, you’re one of the most talented photographers I know and you can do all the cool things with the club TikTok, you know all the trends.’ You raised an eyebrow.

‘Was that a dig at how much time I spend on TikTok?’ His face clearly said ‘really?’, so you dropped it. ‘I’ll send an application, see what happens.’ As much as you wanted (or rather, yearned for) a job at your childhood club, you knew how competitive it was in this industry, especially for a big club like Chelsea.

‘They haven’t even advertised it yet, I heard one of the photographers saying that he’s leaving and the media department are looking for a replacement.’ Mason didn’t seem to understand the confusion on your face, prompting you to spell it out for him.

‘How am I supposed to apply for a job that doesn’t even exist yet?’ He handed you a business card with the Chelsea logo on it. It had the words ’Siobhan Beechwood - Head of Marketing & PR’ emblazoned under a thick blue line just beneath the logo.

‘Managed to get 5 minutes with our head of marketing, talked you up, she’s expecting your call.’ You took the card from him and held your hands up in defeat.

‘Fine, I’ll call. What could possibly happen?’

What could possibly happen is you got an interview the very next day. Mason drove you in and dropped you off (not before giving you a pep talk you definitely needed), saying that no matter what happens, he is fiercely proud of you and will support you no matter what you do. He helped you find the office of Siobhan Beechwood, gave you a final kiss good luck, before you knocked on the door.

‘Y/N, hi, come in!’ Siobhan greeted you with a hug and beckoned you over to sit at one of the chairs in front of her desk. ‘Did you find us okay?’ You nodded.

‘Yes, thank you, Mason actually drove me here and made sure I got here okay.’ Your palms were clammy with nerves; you wanted this job more than anything in the world. Working at the same place as your boyfriend and all your best friends, in a job you craved since you graduated over six months ago… you spent half the night awake thinking of all the possible memories you could make.

As the interview progressed, you could barely tell if it was going well or not. Siobhan was very personable and charismatic, and she obviously had huge amounts of passion for the club and its team. However, she was very good at keeping a poker face, and you had no idea if your answers to her questions were leading you in the right direction.

It could have been 30 minutes later, it could have been two hours later, you didn’t know.

‘And finally, Y/N, I do have to ask, your relationship with Mason, how do you hope to keep it professional while working with us?’ Your heart jumped a bit at those words; it sounded like you had it in the bag.

‘Mason and I have been together for just over two years, and we did have this conversation on the way here. We said that if I get this job, it is strictly professional while I’m working at all times, no displays of affection and nothing that will get in the way of his training and my work. I know it appears as though that I got in before everyone else because my boyfriend plays for the team, but I believe I have the talent and drive to do this job well and make the club that bit more special to the fans.’ You knew the answer was kind of cringe, especially the last bit, but you wanted to make sure that your potential new boss was aware of your tenacity to perform well.

Siobhan thought about it, and then stood up, wiping her hands on her jeans.

‘Well, Y/N, you are an impressive young lady. We’d be delighted to have you on the team. Welcome to Chelsea Football Club.’ She held out her right hand for you to shake, and you did so with gusto.

‘Thank you, thank you so much, I can’t wait to join the team!’ You smiled at her, and she returned it.

‘Your first day will be next Monday at 8am. Bring your camera and whatever lenses you have, you’ll be shadowing our lead photographer Damon at the training session in Cobham.’ You made a mental note to put that in your phone calendar when you left the room, and you thanked her for her time, before approaching the door to leave. ‘Oh, Y/N,’ Siobhan called. You turned to face her. ‘Go find Mason and tell him, I’ll let you off the professional rule just this once.’ You smiled.

‘What about when we win the Premier and Champions Leagues this year?’ She winked at you.

‘That’s the attitude we like here, Y/N.’ You thanked her again and left the room, hurrying down the hall to try and find Mason. As you were going to text him asking him where he was, a voice echoed from the hall behind you.

‘Y/N! Y/N!’ Mason and Ben were walking a few hundred yards behind you. ‘How did it go, babe?’ Mason’s question was more of a demand. You grinned delightedly and started skipping down the hall towards them, arms outstretched. Mason watched you as you gallivanted towards him; your face was alight with an enormous grin and your hair was swaying from side to side as you neared him and Ben, who was watching with an equally big grin.

‘I got the job!’ Your voice was high-pitched and ecstatic as you jumped onto him, legs wrapping around his waist. His arms gripped your own waist. Your legs detached from his waist and he spun you around, both of your giggles bouncing off the walls of the brightly-lit hallway. Mason beamed down at you, your feet reconnecting with the floor. ‘I got the job, Mase, I start on Monday!’ He laughed delightedly into your hair.

‘I knew you’d do it! Congrats, babe,’ he leant in to kiss you, both of you grinning against the other’s lips. ‘My baby works at my club!’ He cheered, starting to jump in a circle around you. You shook your head teasingly at his antics. Ben put his arm around you for a side-hug, which you accepted gratefully.

‘Congratulations, lovely, you deserve it, we can’t wait to have you here all the time!’ You laughed and leant up to kiss his cheek.

‘Thanks, Benji, you lot better start behaving now I’m here, or I’ll put some discipline on you.’

‘With what muscle?’ Mason’s comment earned him a slap to the chest and a laugh from Ben.

'That includes you, Mount, I'll get all your transgressions on camera.'

'I don't know what that word means, but okay, if you say so.'

mix and match! i love stevetony of course lol, but outside of s/t actually, most of my main ships have been poly ships and not single OTPs 😂 and i'm not married to only stevetony. i would love if more fics were about them being poly together! esp with like, jan or thor etc.

Morning Musume NYC 2018, Saturday

Saturday was concert day, and I was determined to get on the railing. Since merch was sold at the con, the concert venue line wouldn't be split between merch and standing position, either. In the past, the line would be at the end of the block by 7AM, so we got to the building at 6AM, only to discover that people had still gotten there at 5AM. Thankfully, we were within the first 20 or so again. But, perhaps because it was shared concert, or because there had already been a lot of interaction with the girls the day before, there were shockingly few people who chose to camp the line. As always, camping an entire day for a concert is actually pretty fun, as everyone in line is there for the same reason, so there's little awkwardness in talking. As this was my third time for MM already, there were several people we knew from previous events, too. We interacted with the Japanese fans quite a bit. One of them was giving out A Gonna/Are You Happy CDs, as well as old member uchiwas. Importantly, the J-fen dished that while camping they airport, they noticed that Maria arrived from a flight from San Francisco, rather than with the rest of the group from Japan. The implication of this is a photobook shoot. One of my proudest accomplishments for this weekend was that I asked the Japanese fans if I could plug in my music player into their speaker, and then proceeded to play a bunch of mashups. It was hilarious seeing the reactions, as people further away in the line could also hear the music, and their surprise at every reveal and transition was great. I also had several people ask me to send them the links of where I found these mashups. I played around with the idea of also camping the stage door entrance to catch the guests entering the building for sound checks, but with no luck all morning, so I gave up. So, of course, as I did a jog around the building later to warm myself up, I caught Kitadani entering the building, hah. The entrance into the building was quite frustrating. They opened two doors, and both had both bag checks and metal detectors. So many people behind us got ahead because the bag checker for their door was more lax, and I also had to wreck my item organization in order to get all of the metal stuff out of my pockets (phone, music player, keys, etc.) Secondly, you were supposed to pick up your VIP badge before entering the venue, and they weren't taking it on faith that the ticket with the barcode was the real deal, so I had to dig through my email archive to find a record with the price paid on it, in order to get my badge, and the switch back to the ticket itself to scan into the concert hall. I definitely entered later than my place in the line had been. Again, thankfully, I still made it to the railing. We waited for an hour for the concert from that point, and the music playlist in the hall was all Lantis, no UFA. Boo. Was amusing when Country Roads came up once, though (as Kageyama had covered it once). I also discovered that VIP included a handshake-ish event, so I started actually thinking of what to say to the girls, unlike with the autograph session. It was funny, all of us MM fans were hoping that one of the collabs would be USA, while none of the anisong fans even knew what that was. One of them even though Da Pump was a Kpop band. The concert itself was fun. Most of VIP was MM fans, but there were just enough anisong fans to show how excited they were about the setlist from those artists. Us MM fans did our best to make every guest feel welcome, though. The concert ended up being between 3 and 4 hours. The other three guests performed about half an hour each, while MM got a full hour, though they did not perform last. There were also multiple collaboration songs between the guests. MM were great, of course. It was hilarious, one anisong fan said that she only vaguely knew MM through their Golden Age songs, and was completely bowled over at the new Kpopified version before her. A downside to this, though, is that few of MM's modern songs lend themselves to tradition lightstick patterns, so our movements during MM's set may have, ironically, been less organized than for the anisongs. But we made up for it in enthusiasm, singing along, and screaming our voices out at every opportunity. Abs watch was too good, but the real story was hair watch, and it was all fab. The girls repeated the introduction style of giving their names and favorite anime. Honey changed her choice to Jojo's, while Maa said just Disney instead of Disney Channel. I'd say that Maria got the best intro screams of the night. Eripon flubbed her line and we started an "eeeeehhh" and she was really ticked off, lol. During Cha La Head Cha La, Maa forgot where she was supposed to be in the line, and Sakura had to correct her. I went for yellow and white lights, for Honey and Chii. My setlist prediction was a bit of a wash. They did both songs from the single, NO SATURDAY NIGHT BOOOOOOOOOOO, no How Do You Like This Japan (as their jumping choice of song for the night was What is Love), and no Jerajera ;_;. All in all, though, it was a great time. No matter the song choice, the girls were going to give a great performance, and they did. Notably, there was no big concert screen, or any steadicams in the press pit. This indicates that there won't be a regular DVD release of this concert (the licensing for the other artists was probably too onerous). A big side effect of this, though, was that for anyone not so close to the stage, the solo performances weren't so exciting as the girls' formation dancing. At the end of the concert, we started a Harunan chant and a yellow ocean. Pretty sure we really ticked off the anisong fans at the point, lol. Some of them though we were trying for an encore. Honey blogged the next day that she heard it all way on the third floor, and later she had a few pictures with the other guests where she was holding one of the yellow glowsticks that had been passed out to help facilitate the yellow ocean. After all of the non-VIPs had exited the building, they set up the tables for us to high five all of the guests. The non-MM's went first, and then the girls went in reverse-seniority order. I AM SO GLAD I REHEARSED WHAT TO SAY, and it was complete and utter success. I both fist bumped and high fived the non-MMs. Gave a "Country Saikou!" to Chii, a "Yo Bonito Queen" to Yokoyan, who was really tired at the point, kind of froze on Dii, sorry. I was planning on asking if she had bought a Gunpla, if it was a handshake, but that would be weird for a high-five setting. I did a mustache twirl for Maria, which made her laugh, and then I was like pretty much about to freeze for the rest of the girls when my friend and I both all but accosted Maria with questions about if she was in San Francisco or not. She said yes, but in that setting she might have said yes to anything. But it carried me through Chel, Sakura, and Maa with us just telling them we came from San Fran and that they should perform there, so that kind of saved me from freezing. I told Ayumi "meccha kirei," and my friend did a "Snefuru kakkoi," told Honey "omedetou," gave Eripon a "yo subleader!" and saluted Fukuchan as leader. She saluted back! And then the high five line was done, a complete and utter success, with an autographed poster to finish it all off. It was magical. Best interaction line I've ever had. (Also, since it was explicitly a high-five line, all of the girls gave great high fives unlike Angerme.) We then headed to the stage door, and the security there was gracious enough to set up a railing to clearly delineate where we could stand, and it was hella close to the door, too. The downside was that we were originally going to sing Saturday Night to them, but then they told us all to put our phones away, so we couldn't look at lyrics, and that part fizzled. But we gave "Otskaresama deshitas" to the various Staff and the other guests. The girls were in two separate vans, sorted by age and gen. Maa looked like a complete diva, wearing a diamond-patterned fur coat, a hat, and sunglasses, swaggering to the van. Meanwhile, Eripon was like in a full head wrap, with just her eyes visible. None of them were as pro as Angerme's stage door exit, though, none filmed with their phones or did Dawa's genius phone flashlight in the van move. I tried dancing Saturday night a bit, but it probably just looked like more Furari Ginza dabbing, lol. There was both an afterparty hosted by the J-fen and a locally hosted karaoke session, but we declined both to grab dinner with some of the new friends we had made, and then headed to bed.

Morning Musume '17's Nonaka Miki talks about her love for Hello! Project with "20 Questions"!

In 2018, Hello! Project is celebrating its 20th anniversary, so we’re starting a celebratory serialization for it! We have a hot discussion including thoughts towards the 20th anniversary, how they have been active, enthusiasm for 2018, and everyday life as an idol, we have a hot discussion with “20 Questions”~. This time its Morning Musume ’17 member Nonaka Miki!!

Nonaka Miki = Born October 7th 1999, Hometown Shizuoka. Bloodtype A. 12th generation member. Nickname Chel.

Q1: Tell us the meaning of your name!

The stroke count. My father and mother gave it to me; when my parents met each other there seemed to be a lot of cute people named ‘Miki’. Therefore, they first decided on the sound of ‘Miki’, and they had success in finding the same stroke count as ‘all over good luck’; my grandpa knew a lot about stroke counts, so it was all over good luck-like!

Q2: What senior do you aim towards?

For performing, Sayashi Riho-san. She is always cool to watch, even now I will watch Sayashi-san videos for reference; I respect Sayashi-san’s performing. Also, Tsuji Nozomi-san. Tsuji-san is why I came to like Morning Musume. I really like Mini Moni, I like the cute-like Tsuji-san of the time, and I really like the cute-like Tsuji-san now, she is a female image aim towards. I’ve been looking into Tsuji-san’s feminine power.

Q3: Who would you want to be reborn as?

Perhaps it would be Tsuji Nozomi-san. She joined Morning Musume at the time of “Renai Revolution 21”, weren’t they broadcasted a lot on TV? I’d like to experience that life once! I was only 1 or 2 around that time, so I didn’t get to see that era. So I got into them with Mini Moni.

Q4: What do you think you are the best at in Hello! Project?

One thing is definitely English. Because I lived in America for 8 years, I think I can do it perfectly. In order to correspond globally to things, I’ve been doing my best as the globalization representative! Another thing is my power to continue. I update my blog everyday; also with Hello! Projects mobile site ‘Hello! Pro Mobile” I write for it every day. I’m definitely doing my best for the most for the email magazine. I have confidence that I’m doing quite well in detailed updates.

Q5: Tell us something amazing about Hello! Project!

The changes. If you’re only watching Morning Musume there are a lot of graduations but, with all of the members that joined Hello! Project and Hello! Project Kenshuusei, new songs are releasing one after another, there have been a dizzying amount of changes. Every time you look there is something new, every time you look there is evolution. I think that that in itself is really interesting.

Q6:Who would you want to be in a Hello! Project special unit with?

I want to sing with Morning Musume’s Sato Masaki-san. Since I joined I’ve been told my voice quality is similar to hers, we’re the same height and everything as well. We’re left handed, stature, our foot size is the same. Therefore, we can sing a song wearing the same thing. We can both play the piano and like music; I’d like to be in a group with her because I think she is the member I have the most in common with.

Q7: Tell us a Morning Musume song you like!

“Egao no Kimi wa Taiyou sa”. For me, this is the song that made me want to audition for Morning Musume. The lyrics “there must be something only you can do,” it put a lot of pressure on my back. Up until then Morning Musume was just a group I really liked but, I listened to the phrase and thought “I’ll say that to myself!”. I had a feeling of ‘I’ll apply now!’ so I applied and I’ve come to like that song.

Q8: What is a Hello! Project song you like?

I like Morning Musume’s “Kimi ga Iruzee!”. I’ve liked it since I was small, despite living in America I would listen to “Koko ni Iruzee!” endlessly; I would sing it enthusiastically at home. I was around 3 or 4 years old. There is a video of, perhaps someday they will be brought into the world (lol). When I stayed in America, I returned home once, Morning Musume was popular and I wanted their DVD’s! Therefore, I have a detailed memory of that era of Morning Musume. Singing “Koko ni Iruzee!” is fun, I sang it passionately when I was younger as well.

Q9: What is the difference between current and previous Hello! Project?

The current Hello! Project is cool; smooth. Previous Hello! Project would have a feel of dancing together having fun and being chattery, recently we don’t have those kinds of dances; there are considerably difficult rhythms, there is a demand for skill. The costumes are often cool, so I think it is completely different there. It can be troublesome that the difficulty level is so high, but it is fun and it feels rewarding.

Q10: Other than yourself, who is your oshi within Hello! Project?

Angerme’s Kamikokuryo Moe-chan. We auditioned for Morning Musume at the same time; her voice and face are pretty. She is cute in photos, but if you actually meet her, her eyes are sparkling, her eyes are captivating. Her voice is very clear, I want to see her at a concert! Because we are in the same grade, I’m very conscious of her. Being friends is good, but I look at her first as a rival member.

Q11: What do you want us to see most from yourself?

My singing. Just before joined Hello! Project, I got into music. I don’t know what the surroundings were like, but while moving I always had earphones and was loving listening to music. I really feel like I want to become skilled at singing, from here on I want to extend that. I want to have growth with it.

Q12: What is work you would like to challenge?

I want to do narration. My voice can change, I think it is unique. I’ve been speaking with individuality since I was little, and I want to talk in that voice. I want to send out my voice in a wide range of genres. Perhaps not just a voice actor but a narrator.

Q13: What do you want us to see most from Morning Musume?

There are a lot of members, so I’d like you to see our individual personalities. Recently, you can see that we’ve become thick with individual characters. Particularly in my own 12th generation! When one person puts out their personality, everyone else’s comes out as being a loser, so right now, I think we’re interesting to watch.

Q14: What will you be doing in 20 years?

Perhaps I’ll be in America. I want to be in America in my old age. In my hometown in Alabama, It was really countryside-like, and I’d like to live calmly. But since I am young I want to move and do everything that I want to do; I think I’ll move around a bit. I want to do everything for Morning Musume. But moving to America when I’m 37 might be too early. It’s one of my goals, but I’m living in the now, and I haven’t really thought about it, actually (lol). I’m living now!

Q15: Since it’s the 20th anniversary, tell us a secret!

I just talked about personalities but, I want to gradually develop my own personality. Up until now I’ve been told I’m timid and clumsy, but I really don’t want to be told I’m like that! I was holding myself back, ‘from now on I’m going to release my American side without mercy!’ I’ve thought. I want to be bolder and bolder.

Q16: What do you want to do after the 20th anniversary?

I don’t want to lose anything. I’m the perfectionist type; I never sleep in, I’m extremely strict about timing, but I’ll lose things without realizing it. Recently, I lost my wallet. I lost my insurance card so it had to be reissued…I’m really being careful! I want to fix this.

 Q17: What would you be if not an idol?

When I returned back to Japan with my parents I was still small, but maybe I’d study in America. But, I’ve been to America once with Morning Musume. Because that was my number one dream, I am very grateful for that now. I think that feeling is even more dense now. I can’t imagine what I would be doing besides Morning Musume at all.

Q18: What are you into right now?

Watching videos of Morning Musumes history and lives. I’m conscious of Morning Musume’s 20 years, I think that my seniors are great after all. They’re cool. In particular I’ve been watching my first tour. It was the GRADATION tour; I think ‘small!’ and ‘young!’ when I look at myself.

Q19: Who do you get along with within Hello! Project?

Angereme’s Kamikokuryo Moe-chan. We often go out to eat together, and so we of course talk often. The basics are invitations, right. But, we talk to each other deeply, there are things I can talk to her rather than Morning Musume members about. I get to know about the other groups atmosphere and personality, I often think that I want us to do our best!

Q20: What is an idol to you?

Life. I think you do it till your 20’s but, your teens and 20’s are everything in life. Even in my life, I was not an exception to getting into Morning Musume. I wasn’t inconsistent in my interest in them at all. Because I like idols, I’ve looked at other idols, but I couldn’t get into other idols as a hobby (lol). Music, Idols, are everything for me now.

1. What’s your favorite kind of dog or cat? The petting kind!!!!!!

I would like the luck, because something as small as finding a toonie on the ground or hitting all green lights when you’re running late are the magical moments that can turn a day around.

7. Coffee, tea, or other? Tea!

8. Would you rather want to fly as high up as you want, or swim to the ocean floor? Fly! There are some seriously scary things on the ocean floor that I never ever want to see/know about.

9. Favorite potato-based food? (Fries, tots, gnocchi, etc.) Hashbrowns!

10. Favorite kind of rock? Diamond

11. Headphones or earbuds? Earbuds for travel, headphones for when I don’t want to talk to people in public lol
