In the walled garden of the Castle of Mey, Scotland, the Saxifraga × urbium (London pride) was creating a wonderful spread of groundcover with airy sprays of tiny flowers. The evergreen foliage is ideal for a shady part of a garden and thrives with moist soil.

Fairy Crassula is just coming into flower (Crassula multicava) is a perennial succulent. It is known under various common names including fairy crassula, pitted crassula and London pride. It’s native of South Africa, particularly the mountainous regions of Natal, Eastern and Southern Cape. I potted some cuttings up in a trough and they are doing very well. It asks for nothing and exists only on rain. If a slightly shady area is left vacant it will move in as a ground cover. Pride 2022. There is still so much to be done. You can hear it in the chants as those aware call out for the inequalities we still face. The big corporations (that are not sponsoring the event), still confuse me by their presence. I got emotional, watching the small numbers of people walk past who were there 50 years ago. It's been so long, so much has improved, so much hasn't. So many nationalities represented that still had to fear for their lives in their homelands. But there was also joy. So much joy. Seeing a community once again brought together after a tough 2 years. Gosh it was nice to celebrate together again.

Also not mentioned in my insta post is a touch of beard euphoria and the joys of feeling comfortable enough in myself to wear rainbow gems on my face!

Perfect for a shady part of the garden Saxifraga × urbium (London pride) will spread forming an evergreen ground-cover. It produces airy sprays of tiny, white, star-shaped flowers. The plant thrives with constant moisture and is great for edging a path or border.
