This week is #fashionrevolution week, a week focusing on the fashion industry and the conditions in which people work within it following the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh seven years ago. It also looks at how we think about clothes, the amount of waste and the impact on the environment. So we need to consume less clothes, throw less out and treasure the clothes we have. Clothes can last, they can be mended and most of us probably need a lot less than we currently buy. I try to think very carefully now about any item I buy and how much wear I will get from it, we should not be buying things that soon after will be thrown away, clothes are not single use! We need to appreciate each item and think about #whomademyclothes and in what conditions. As with clothes, another question I know a lot of makers will be asking is #whomademyfabric as the issues will be similar to the clothing industry. My main aim is to buy less and treasure the things I have and make them last, therefore making less waste. WHAT IS LOVE YOUR CLOTHES?

Launched in 2014, the Love Your Clothes campaign has been developed together with industry organisations to help change the way the UK consumers buy, use and dispose of their clothing.

The ultimate aim is to reduce the environmental impact of clothing across the UK and influence a more circular approach to clothing globally.

Love Your Clothes is part of the Sustainable Clothing Action Plan (SCAP), which is coordinated by WRAP, a not-for-profit organisation which receives Government support across the UK.

First it was Arkwright and now it’s Delboy. What is it with me looking like 1980s TV characters? 😂😂😂 But just like Delboy, I do like getting more for my money. Don't you? I’ve never been one to save things for best. If you buy something. You gotta wear it right? Whatever it is. I mean unless it’s a ball gown or a pair of ultra beautiful shoes. Maybe they can be saved for the right occasion and not worn to Lidl for the weekly shop. But, a beautiful silk shirt. Or an expensive skirt or a studded bolero jacket... they’ve got to be worn! I picked up this jacket in the TopShop sale a while ago and it’s perfect worn over a little black dress for a night out but equally, I love it with jeans too. Those sort of pieces can be a real asset to you wardrobe. Ones that give a little bit of an edge to a daytime outfit but also spice up an evening look too. So. Wear that gorgeous dress. Team it with hiking boots like @hollywilloughby in the jungle. Or wear that sequin skirt. Team it with a chunky knit jumper and sneakers. Or wear that tuxedo blazer.
