These are all snippets from LunarWIP:

RED

The narrow staircase eventually led to a low-ceilinged room with a few fire torches burning on the red stone walls. A narrow corridor stretched before me with rusting iron bars on either side forming six cells in total. It was such a stark contrast to the light, airy manor above.

ORANGE

Caspian’s hands vanished from my skin and cold air replaced them as he leapt for the window. I twisted on the bed, hastily grabbing at the blankets as I tried to sit up, my head swimming. Shadows swirled around Caspian as he stood at the window, every muscle tensed ready to spring to action. The perfect predator. The pure moonlight that had caressed his body moments before was replaced by harsh orange light. Fire.

YELLOW

Esmerae was by my side, positively glowing in her radiant golden dress. She’d woven giant daisies into braids that circled her head like a crown and wore a necklace of yellow crystals around her swanlike neck. The delicate bells tied to ribbons around her wrist tinkled sweetly as we walked.

GREEN

I felt his tired heart jump and he lifted his head to look at me except… he couldn’t. He couldn’t see me. My stomach emptied at the sight of those horribly dark voids. They had taken his eyes. His beautiful, mossy green eyes. Eyes that had looked over the forest for centuries. Eyes I had loved. Tears streamed freely down my face as I reached for him.           

BLUE

I turned slowly, gripping tight to the hilt of Caspian’s dagger as I faced the Elven King. He stood impossibly tall with long blonde hair flowing passed his shoulders and crushing blue eyes full of ice that trapped me in their frozen stare. Rich green and brown robes cut close to his slender body camouflaged him almost perfectly against the forest behind and a monstrous crown of golden antlers adorned with emeralds and diamonds sat atop his head.

INDIGO

Nothing here!

VIOLET

She wore a gown of midnight blue silk complete with her signature plunging neckline and her raven black hair piled high around a glittering crown of onyx and diamond. Her violet eyes were outlined with black smoke and her lips painted a devastating shade of darkest red. She had the attention of every male around the table.

Camp NaNoWriMo

Well... it’s that time of year again where I pretend I’m a real writer and that I’m actually going to get a draft finished. 

But this time it’s different because this time I AM going to get a first draft finished! I’ve manifested it. I’ve spoken it to the Universe. And I’ve told Lola I’m going to do it so if I don’t then I will have lied to Lola and that is Very Bad. 

So the next 30 days will be filled with all things #LunarWIP 

Also, please bear with me... it has been an AGE since I’ve used Tumblr and I’ve got no idea what I’m doing so if there is anyone still out there do excuse the mess!

Of course, I set myself the challenge to finish my first draft today and my brain decides to forget how to write. I have no patience for its bullshit today. We are finishing this god forsaken draft in the next 8 hours.

Writing hasn't happened the last couple days... on Thursday night my laptop decided to unalive itself so I was too cross to write. On Friday night I had to do last minute packing and go to bed early ready to wake up at 1:30 am so decided it was better not to get sucked into the next scene. And on Saturday I was too tired after travelling all day! But today, writing has happened.

I also visited at walled city today which has given me so much inspiration for one of the locations in LunarWIP.

We are 25% of the way through to our Camp Nano goal and we aint stopping now!!

Not two days ago I was saying how I reckoned LunarWIP was gonna be the first standalone novel I'd planned as I wasn't sure how it was going to end but definitely had no ideas for a sequel...

Literally just walking home from work minding my own damn business when my brain piped up "here's the ending for that book you wanted oh and btw here's an entire plot for the sequel".

I am allowing myself to believe that I might actually finish this hellbound draft today.

Anyway... the game!

Rules: give us your characters' names and definitions and vote whether or not they fit the meaning.

Astraea: a feminine name of Greek and Latin origin meaning “star-maiden” or “starry-night.” It is a Latinized version of the Greek name Astraia which is derived from the Greek word aster, meaning “star.” In classical mythology, Astraea or Astraia is the goddess of justice, innocence, purity, and precision.

9/10 - I wanted a celestial name for her because of her power so I did actually look her name up before deciding on it. It fits pretty well, apart from the "innocence, purity and precision" part at the end.

Seren: a Welsh female and male name meaning "star".

10/10 - again, I looked it up first - I wanted a false name that was close enough in meaning to her real name.

Caspian: One of the most romantic of appellations, as well as being a geographical name of the large salty sea between Asia and Europe.

4/10 - points for being considered "romantic" but tbh I didn't look this name up first and still don't know if it will survive the redrafts but I chose it because I like it and I needed a name.

I haven't spent enough time on tumblr to know who is still writing these days so if you see this and you want to tell everyone about your character's wonderful names then this is your sign to do it and tag me so I can see!

Could Camp NaNo July 2023 be the one where I finally finish a first draft??

I don't want to jinx it lads, but this is going really well. I am enjoying writing, I don't immediately hate everything I've written and I am determined to continue.

And we're getting to the good bit.

Guess who just reached 10% of their Camp NaNo goal on day 2??

Yeah so my word goal is only 30k BUT I'm pleased to be above target for once 😅

Caspian & Astraea really want their story written. And I have my own personal cheerleader - I'd recommend you get yourselves one!

In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came. That voice which calls to me and speaks my name.

The rewrites of LunarWIP have begun and the first part has been done to the sound of the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack on loop.

Astraea dreams of Caspian every night and there is nothing that will stop him from finding her. He'll tear the world apart to get to her and have no second thoughts about doing so.
