Something I just realized about canon Aarmau is that it would've made more sense in ✨the lore✨tm if mermaid tales and Royal tale were canon to the mystreet/MCD universe, therefore cementing them as a reincarnation cycle rather than whatevez is going on in canon.

lowkey the cinderella retelling with exes aaron and aphmau were rivals was *chefs kiss*. the DYNAMIC. the way aaron was some random vagrant who went from possibly being a king to robbing garroths castle for whatever reason (and is also an asshole)… aphmau being a warrior/fighter(?) princess who literally has kind of nothing going for her kingdom after their gem(?) broke. the DYNAMIC. they would never get back together but also have an on and off situationship at the same time. muah.

To me, despite one being based on the other, there’s never been a doubt in my mind I am a werewolf therian, not a regular wolf.

Being a werewolf means my humanity is inherently part of the package. I do not reject my humanity. It is just as much of a part of me as the wolf is.

I have a clear visual in my mind as to what the wolf looks like. A facultative biped. Moving around on twos and fours interchangeably.

Furthermore, my pack instincts are second to none, aside from seeking basic interaction. My group instincts all come from the hyena.

It also means feeling estranged from my human body in a way that is different from species dysphoria. There is another physique layered over mine. The human self does not feel right. I do not wish to have a different body in those moments, but something about the body I have doesn’t feel right.

The “were” is just as important as the “wolf”.

Thinking bout how Aaron as a character was completely just fucked up from a writing stand point and how Jess can absolutely write a character that I'm sure aaron was intended to be like because Zane is right there and written well enough for a show aimed towards 9-13 year olds.

I'm assuming Aaron was intended to be a character that was intimidating and scary in public because he thought he was dangerous (daddy issues do that to a motherfucker apparently) but in private he was supposed to be loving and caring and soft and sensitive because he was finally able to be the person he never got to be growing up. But instead he's just not that.

And it's not like Jess can't write characters like that because once again, Zane is right there as evidence that she can do it.

I genuinely also think that the only times he is compelling enough is mermaid tales and a royal tale, where he isn't shoe horned into being the mysterious love interest who flip flops whenever and wherever because he's never actually given development in order to be able to be open with others.
