the aphmau, specifically minecraft diaries, brainrot has hit pretty bad again after like 8 years.

and you wanna know what my roman empire about MCD is? the fact that aaron had a wife and son. i think about that ALL OF THE TIME!

i can imagine him being serious/stoic as lord of a village (similarly to how he was in the beginning s2 of MCD), but actually tender and loving in private with his family. we saw glimpses of this side of him in his interactions with Aphmau and baby Lilith (& im sobbing at aph and aaron naming the baby after his wife Lily UGHHH), but can you imagine this gentle nature of his in full bloom? aaron said the first time he talked to his wife, he brought up the lily flower to her because of her name. aaron, the strong quiet loner, being young and shy about the girl he liked sounds so bizarre, yet so soft and sweet. can you imagine the fact that aaron had a wedding, and that was the probably the happiest night of his life? well, that was the happiest day until his son was born. aaron likely spent so many mornings adoring his baby boy. he said although he was afraid of disappointing his village, the one thing that kept him going was that he would never disappoint his son. imagine the quiet nights between him, his wife, and son, and how he wished for many more nights like those. he probably had so many grand plans for the village he was gonna raise his beautiful family in. he saw a bright future ahead, and it was all stolen away in an instant.

i do have my reservations about MCD aaron/aarmau, but he really was a compelling character. we knew he had a sad past, but thinking about these small details adds to the tragedy of his life and his sacrifice, making it that much more important.

Listen, okay, hear me out. I don't cure Laurance's sight, he just has to be blind and learn to live with that. And it won't be easy. But when someone joins the party, someone who always covers their eyes, he's able to start learning. And while nobody knows why Aaron wears that bandana exactly, Laurance can tell. He knows exactly why Aaron wears it. Blocking out what little vision he has lets him hone his other senses. He's mastered an art that Laurance is a beginner in, and despite wanting to keep his distance, there's a pity he feels for the guard throwing himself into a danger he can't see, and offers to help train him in the ways of blind fighting.

Yknow I wish they played with Aphmau's depression more in mcd

After Aaron died, she almost completely shut down, understandably so. But after like a few episodes, she was kinda back to normal (still very much grieving tho) and I think that sucks.

Show me a broken lord that has lost someone so dear to them. For the first time, there is no "rescue", no "we'll find a way." He is dead and gone, and she couldn't stop it.

Show me an empty warrior who can't enjoy the peaceful present because he's not there. Garroth is, and he is a constant reminder of what happened. It's not his fault, no, but she can't bear to look at him and see someone else.

Show me Irene, who once again has gone numb. But this time, her lord of shadows was not unfairly persecuted. He surrendered himself, and somehow, that's worse.

But Aphmau is not Irene. And this time, she can pick herself back up. Little by little, piece by piece.

My main goal with this piece is to convert all the Aaron dislikers into Aaron enjoyers (with my hcs too bc I will admit canon Aaron had so much wasted potential and was kinda bland. Headcanon Aaron for the win)

We should talk about the fact that in the beginning of mcd, everyone was making a huge deal about the villagers becoming more aware, but how over the course of the series they continued to do so but at the same time Aphmau became less and less “aware” (her letsplay turned into an actual story)

I like to imagine Aaron and Aphmau danced on the beach the night of Kenmur and Emmalyn’s wedding. Maybe at that point they weren’t dancing in any romantic light, just finding comfort in each other as two people yearning for far off lovers. Aphmau was all dressed up, it would be a waste to end the night without a dance. The two of them swayed around the doc quietly, cracking jokes at each other every so often because they didn’t have the time to learn how to dance while fulfilling the duties of lords. Aaron walked Aphmau back to the guard’s treehouse and went on his way.

They didn’t acknowledge it the next day, or ever again actually. It was a moment of vulnerability the lords did not have such a luxury to share. But it did create a certain warmth between the two of them that lingered in all of their conversations, odd quests, and adventures together. At some point, that warmth sparked into adoration, even love.
