—But sometimes I think about the sheer existential/body horror of Canon Daniel’s situation, having only this small amount of of life and then your entire existence is wiped to make room for an entity older then the stars to shoved into you, your body shifting and twisting to become something better suited to carrying the thing inside the you that isn’t you anymore, because you’re not needed, you can be erased and only one small broken person will ever even remember or mourn you…

finally finished up the reference for the au version of my DR OC, Jess! Though, in this particular AU, she is called Jazz! :3 I wanted to test out a different way of doing faces/eyes, and I was mostly inspired by artists maikyodel & xamag respectively. I took my time on this ref because I wanted to try being patient vs rushing something and having it look bad as a result. I'm super happy with how this looks :D

I haven’t done animatics in a long while, but making this one was a really fun, but lengthy process. I worked on it on and off over two months and really like how it currently looks. Although down the line id love to do a version with color shading, and some more movement.

I’ve been really into the Sandman since hearing about its announcement and have loved doodling the characters. I thought the Hall’s part of the storyline particularly interesting. How intertwined with the plot they are, no matter how much they try to escape it and the bittersweet fate that each of them have. Lyta’s sort of an underappreciated character whose actions made through grief are really compelling. The fact she tries to protect her son so much, just to be the one who seals his fate into what he becomes and thus loses him, is so tragic. So, it seemed like a really interesting storyline to adapt an animatic into.

Originally, since this isn’t the entire song, I considered having a part more focused on Morpheus. It would have been the second chorus and possibly would reshow events from his perspective. But, his version of events already exists. It’s literally The Sandman comic. So he stayed in surprisingly brief, but important appearances and he gets a small section where he feeds the birds with Death and reminisce.

Everytime I see Lyta on ‘The Sandman’ I remember her whole story, and I am extremely sad for her. So I did a Fan Art from her golden days, before the Crisis took over her life.
