Custom 1971 Mach 1 Mustang
The second generation of the Mustang was a transition point for the storied pony car. The ’70s were a time when automotive tastes were changing and the Mustang changed with the times. The Mach 1 Mustang Foose designed was a play on modern muscle with a hint of classic. The wheels were oversized for the car and didn’t fit with the overall retro design very well. The paint was a greyish color with pinstripes up the side, but that also didn’t go very well with the overall look of the car (via Goosby Customs).
The Mach 1 was a unique muscle car that changed the face of the pony car era. The cool thing about the Mustang was the fact that there were always special edition models hitting the market. There was a lot to like about this car and it was a great effort, but it definitely wasn’t one of Foose’s best creations. With its unpleasant mixture of modern and classic, it just didn’t mesh very well.
