Machinist stands out to me among the FF14 classes... since the protag is essentially the first one.

There's a single "machinist guild" over in Ishgard and its initial quests are simply about proving the validity of the machinist as a type of combat unit. And while there's obviously a few machinists already there who show you the ropes, and there are other gun-users out in the world, such as in the western themed area of Shaaloani in Dawntrail.... None of them are doing the stuff the WoL is doing.

The guild gave you the rook autoturret and the drill. But their instruction only goes up to level 70. Past that, every skill machinist gets is unique to the Warrior of Light. This means they're inventions that your WoL made by themselves. The Warrior of Light invented the bio blaster, the air anchor, the automaton queen, the scattergun, the chain saw launcher, the excavator, AND the miniguns and rocket launchers they use during full metal field.

Just the automaton queen by itself would already be a ridiculous feat of engineering. As someone with a maxed-out crafter WoL who was born under Byregot the Builder, machinist stands out as one of the more "canonical" classes to my WoL's character.

It took three and a half years, but I'm finally up-to-date with my hi-res jobstone illustrations. I started with the Summoner during summer of 2021, and I just finished my last one (Viper) a few days ago.

This project started because it annoyed me that there weren't any official hi-res images of the jobstones. I just really wanted to look at the pretty rocks that played such an important role in the game!!! So hopefully someone else who is obsessive about in-game items can derive some pleasure from this.
