Drop your Madara headcannons 🧠 💣
Hi! This is going to be quite a long list. Didn't add every single hc because I'm planning on writing a little fanfic and don't want to spoil some details to you hehe. Anyways, hope you enjoy! Some of these are very oddly specific, this man occupies at least half my brain if not more.
🔥 misc!
* He drinks his tea boiling hot. Burning your tongue? Never heard of it
* Is actually good at cooking and makes the most out of any ingredient available. Growing up in war, he knows how to make meals out of anything.
* Has a pillow to cuddle in bed! The dude is lonely.
* Very elegant and expensive hanko to stamp his documents. A clan leader needs to be fancy sometimes!
* Neat freak. Never has his house messy or his clothes out of place. Even his hair strands are calculated.
* Is actually able to mend/sew his clothes very well if some stitches are damaged during training.
* Sleeps a maximum of 6 hours a day, minimum of 30 minutes. The amount of sleep he gets is like playing a roulette (ever seen the eyebags? yeah)
* Speaking about the eyebags. His eyebags are both sunken and protruding (based on my personal experience of being sleep deprived+stressed) the lower eyelid pops out a little and the dark circles extend more.
* The man is physically unable to go out in social settings during the day. Only has social battery for the night. If he has to do some sort of diplomatic celebration with other clan leaders or kage during the day, he’ll leave the talking to someone better at social gatherings like Hashirama.
* Has houseplants both for decoration and for cooking. We’re talking pretty succulents and mint plants or peach trees.
* The type of guy to wake up and immediately jump out of bed. Things have to be done everyday and he doesn’t trust people to do things the way he likes.
🎀 appearance!
* Shaves to perfection every single morning, no excuses. Takes a little razor to missions, hates the feeling of facial hair growing. Trims his eyebrows as well. The Sharingan needs a pretty frame, right?
* The gloves have 2 purposes: protecting his hands from getting calluses or any form of damage due to the metal handle of the gunbai, kusarigama, etc and to hide burn scars (courtesy of @madaraservingcunt go follow her!)
* Continuing with the gloves, they’re made out of leather or thick cotton. Maybe has several sets of them for different activities.
* Smells like a mix of wood (cedar or pine), soot/ash, aloe and maybe lavender or wild daisy.
* Skincare and haircare? He’s VERY serious about these. Aloe vera facial masks for soothing the itchiness of constant katonjutsu, washes face with caution, rice water to keep his hair shiny, protective hairstyles to not damage the long hair strands, bamboo hairbrush to retain the natural oils, etc.
* Either has thick straight hair or textured and slightly wavy hair, definitely cut in layers. The wavy hair would make more sense as it poofs up when dry but looks rather straight when wet, taking into account the scenes of the battle in the Valley of the End (thank you Indra for the wavy hair and gorgeous mane genetics). Definitely loves his hair, fav part about himself.
* The bandages above his ankles are to keep the pants in place because his calves are thin and not very muscular, a small insecurity when he was a teen.
* Speaking of the terrible teens, he got grumpy whenever he got a breakout, zit, etc.
* Has mixed/dry, sensible skin. Dealt with painful and itchy sores due to lack of skin hydration while in war.
* Is a bit ashamed of his height and body proportions (i.e. wishing he was taller, less lean and more bulky, broader shoulders). These were regular nuisances during his teens but he eventually controlled the insecurities in adulthood, not managing to make them disappear completely nonetheless.
🍡 food!
* The databooks say that his fav food is inarizushi, so I've added that he likes similar things: onigiri, temaki, nigirizushi, tamagoyaki or even gyoza.
* Eats with little pleasure, only to fuel his body or whatever. That changes when Konoha is founded and he can actually enjoy and taste his meals.
* Dislikes greasy foods. Not a fan of ramen or katsudon, gyoza has to be boiled and would never eat tempura or ebi furai.
* Has a sweet tooth. We're talking dango, wagashi, dorayaki and more. However, only Izuna knew about this. Can't have a clan leader that eats candy like a little child.
* Prefers his sake cold and drinks mostly umeshu in informal gatherings.
* Actually likes fruit. I have no reason for believing this but he has the face of a man who likes fresh fruit. Fav fruit is persimmons or apples.
* Was malnourished as a child, giving away his food to his brothers or clansmen. Eventually took a toll on his muscle growth and height.
* Eats very light breakfast (maybe tea and some rice with nori or miso soup with wakame), heavy lunch (meat or fish, rice, more tea and other side dishes), no dinner.
* Favourite tea is jasmine or pu'erh, mostly drinks green tea and actually enjoys a good ceremonial matcha.
Thanks for the fun ask! I legit have a google docs of 4 pages full of hcs 😭 please send more asks about him I need to dump my brainrot

follow-up to the last kohaku ask! so eventually after like 15-16 years his family let him out of the house, i can’t remember if it was mentioned exactly what changed and why they let him go but anyway he ended up in ensemble square under the cospro (cosmic productions) agency. and at some point he was designated an “underachiever” and put into a group with three other underachievers (similarly to how alkaloid was formed) by the vice president of cospro (who is also an idol btw, his name is ibara and he used to be a child soldier. he sure is a guy) and that’s how crazyB was formed.
so now kohaku has at least 4 big brother figures (rinne niki and himeru from crazyB + later on he forms a special part-time unit with mikejima madara so big brother figure #4) and he found his old online friend at ensemble square and he’s learning more about living in the outside world and i am so very proud of him. and it’s his birthday today
ohhh now i can see why people like him !! but the members of crazyB must have terrible self-esteem if they were all labeled as underachievers… was it because of their overall performance, or was there another reason?

Monthly word count - October
TOTAL: 5 601 words. better than last month but that's not saying much. bluhh. POSTED : nothin! IN PROGRESS -Bleach: suburban ot4 (531 words, all of which was discarded and rewritten two days ago because Not Quite Right.) -Naruto: madatobiizu Cherry Wine chapter idk, five, probably? six? no clue (1 472 words, some just tweaks to existing stuff and an unfinished scene that wasn't planned but cracked me up.) -Bleach: Grimmichi+fraccion ABO (1 125 words, mostly porn.) -Naruto: tobirama breaks the timeline to get his brothers back (335 words) -Bleach: chapter idk 4 of superheroes AU grimmichi (1 517 words that i forgot i'd written haha where did it come from) -Bleach: bloodsport (grimmichi in space) (385 words) -Bleach: psychic wolves AU (236 words) Also posted : Cherry Wine chapter 4 (madara/tobirama/izuna fraternal poly ABO) This was the month of vague "i miss grimmichi but idk what fic i want tho" urges, and serious, SERIOUS "whoops was excited and then brain skipped town between this sentence and the next and now it's three hours later and i've lost all the ideas i had". but apart from that i don't have adhd. >_> -- teasers!
cherry wine ABO -- "If he corners you, he dies." He had no idea where to start untangling that one. Izuna was obsessed with beating him. Not -- not that. They were polite at court, where all violence would be swiftly punished, but should they meet again anywhere else and Tobirama offer to... Izuna would say yes with a smile, move into his arms with eager grace, and then knife him between the ribs. He would not pass up on such an occasion to neutralize one of the biggest dangers to his clan to slake a bout of lust, that was ridiculous. Hashirama grinned harder. "And if Tobirama corners him?" Tobirama delivered a swift kick to his hamstring. His brother yelped, knee hitting the table hard enough to make the tea cups bounce. ((--)) rolled her eyes, mouth still hidden behind her sleeve, as if they didn't know she was smirking at them. "Then his tastes will officially be half as appalling as your own." Hashirama spluttered. "There is nothing tasteless about my fiancés! They're princely! They're smart! They have gorgeous hair! They have enough stamina and teamwork to hold their own against me--" "Hashi-chan, we both know you don't mean 'in combat' there." Tobirama closed his eyes and turned his face away, shoulders bowed in despair. -- Bleach ABO (IT'S PORN) -- "So your sword spirits--" "Mm-hm--" "Which you have two of, for undisclosed reasons--" "No, it's because-- mrph." Legs trembling, teeth bared, Grimmjow tightens his hold on a fistful of orange hair. "Shawlong, you need to be shutting the fuck up now." Oh god. Satan. Soul King, who the fuck ever presides over impossible shit, maybe it's the King of Hell for all he knows and fuck, shit, how can Kurosaki even be paying attention to the room right now?! How can he see or hear or even smell anyone else, remember anything else exists. Grimmjow isn't the one buried face-first in anyone's crotch and he barely can. He's gonna die, he's gonna die from wet soft slick lapping tongue and tickling raking things he doesn't want to remember are teeth. Except he can't ignore it because Kurosaki is on his knees between his feet and when Grimmjow pulls on his hair his mouth starts digging into his cunt in a way Grimmjow can't word in another way than hungry. 'Can't stay here but can't leave right now but can't be tied together when we need to move either', fuck this, who cares. Kurosaki went on his knees for him, let Grimmjow hold his head so he could break his neck if he wanted, and then just -- leaned in. Grimmjow fists his other hand in Kurosaki's hair; needs both of them to hold on, not fall, knees shaking. Kurosaki slides a hand down from under the curve of his ass to the back of his knee and guides it over his shoulder and now he needs the support even more. Kurosaki growls against him; it rattles through defenseless flesh, makes his cunt and his belly quiver with a rush of helplessly wanting heat. He wants fucked, he wants fucked so bad but Kurosaki won't, he can't knot him now and his soft little tongue isn't going to work to get him -- oh, oh, fuck. One of his hands slaps against the wall and then sinks all five claws through the cement knuckle-deep. His other leg folds under him and then Kurosaki catches him, pins him there with Grimmjow's legs around his head, strong hands gripping his ass and holding up his weight and, and -- When he comes his thighs clench so hard that for a moment he's afraid that he's gonna crush Kurosaki's skull without even knowing. It doesn't manage to sour it even a little bit. -- Tobirama fucks with the timeline -- "There." He dropped his satchel beside Tobirama's knees. Three red-eyed pairs of eyes followed Tobirama's hand as he moved to pick it up. He knew the process by then and could do it without really thinking about it. "Kawarama, go place the markers," he said quietly, pushing them into his brother's reluctant hands. "Niichan--" "It's okay. Place the markers. You know you won't be hurt, don't you? They'll take you where Itama is. You'll keep an eye on him until Anija can see to him, won't you?" "Niichan, please--" "Go put that one over there. You'll be fine." "You won't," Kawarama choked out, barely breathing so as not to be overheard. Tobirama blinked sightlessly at his own hands, down on his lap with the shortcut scroll half-unrolled. "I'll be fine. Madara needs me. It's fine." "Tobi-nii, I--" "I gave you an order. Go." -- Grimmichi superheroes -- Grimmjow did not enjoy the cold little metal disk or even being shirtless with a fever; he sat on the urge to growl, though. Let the guy take his temperature and listen to his heart and lungs and wrap a cuff around his arm and all that jazz. Let him loom as Grimmjow leaned back, on orders, as Grimmjow cautiously unwrapped his healing wounds. "This is five days old?" "Mm." "Welp, you're fucked." Curtains snorted. Grimmjow's eye twitched. "--What." "Just saying..." The man leaned in, poked around the edges of the biggest wound. "Some inflammation here but it should be a lot farther along than it is... And the muscles weren't cut through when you got here or you couldn't have climbed into my son's window like a disreputable suitor, but you have barely any core strength left right now... Hmm." "Hmm what, you cryptic asshole." Karin was craning her neck to look over her dad's shoulder without turning around; she gave up on hiding that a second later though. "Wow, yeah, I've seen Shiro-nii heal holes like that in about five minutes. You don't get enough vitamins in your diet or what?" "Fuck off." He knew, alright? He knew something was wrong. He tried not to swallow too obviously, not to tense. He didn't want to look afraid when Engetsu looked like it was all a fine joke. "Bad news, it's neurotoxin!" He caught Grimmjow's arm and flopped his hand around. Grimmjow swiped at his wrist with his claws, and missed by a hair's breadth. Engetsu dropped his hand, and kept talking like he hadn't noticed. "Good news, if you were going to have your lungs shut down on you, they would have already." "... Great." Fuck. Fuck -- "Even better news, you're a hollow, so every nerve that's been chewed through will grow back--" "--Son of a bitch--" "--and most of them will even grow back properly! You might end up with a few patches where they healed too enthusiastically and you now have a new erogenous zone." He grinned. Grimmjow started looking around for something heavy to chuck at his head.

Character Details  Shinkai Kanata is an uncommon name, likely a very unique one as well. And yet, one only needs to listen, to pay a bit of attention, to hear it anywhere in Teyvat. One can especially hear this name carried in whispers in Inazuma, and following this sweet siren’s call is that of a pretty little thing, gentle and ethereal as they offer a smile from their aquatic throne. “What is your wish? Speak anything your heart truly desires, and I will see that it is done.”
This is the regular mantra Kanata repeats several dozen, or perhaps hundreds, of times a day. It is their job as the God of Wishes, after all. Rather, a reincarnation of said god. They cannot remember any details of their past life, but they are told by their loyal followers that they were killed in the Archon War.
Fortunately, Celestia seems to have deemed it fit to reincarnate them in the present day, and their followers, who searched for them even after their passing thousands of years ago, are all too overjoyed by this.
But if that’s the case, why has it felt so wrong ever since the incident with the Mikejima girl…?
Story 1  The Shinkai Cult has always had strong ties to the various organizations across Teyvat, underground or otherwise. This is a simple, sensible practice to ensure their protection, especially in recent years as the electro archon presiding over their nation and the normal citizens within began to grow displeased with their increasing influences. So they established members in the Bakufu, the Fatui-- anywhere that they could possibly get their hands on some power. The Mikejima family was an especially treasured connection for this reason. The mother had ties to the Fatui, and the father to the Bakufu. Even better, they had a son so similar in age to the god they revered. So while their ties protected the cult, their son could protect the God of Wishes, provided they were able to come in contact and form a friendship.
Kanata, for their part, was simply happy to finally have a friend. Mikejima Madara was all they ever wanted, a good and loyal friend who did not put them on a pedestal or keep them at a distance. Granted, they knew such things were to be expected as a god, but they never could help the fact that all they longed for was a genuine friend despite being a god. To them, Madara was a blessing, a godsend-- or had they simply granted their own wish? They weren’t sure for the longest time.
Doubt only began to settle in, though, when they could not cure Madara’s ailing little sister despite their greatest efforts. Why could they not grant this one wish, one so much more important and dear to them than any other?
Story 2 Despite Madara planting the first seed of doubt in Kanata, they still held fast to the belief that they were a god for many years. Even when Madara upped and left them behind (taking away the sole friendship they had, taking their heart and soul with him), Kanata saw no issue with the way life was. To them, it was a simple fact that they were a god, indisputable and proven in the way that wishes truly did come true once confessed to Kanata. But that was only ever because of the forces that the Shinkai cult employed. In the dead of night, when none were around to witness, the cult sent a number of its members to attend to the task. Teach someone a lesson through pain? Fix a neglected fountain overnight? Anything and everything could be done with enough numbers and endless work until the desired result was achieved. This is how the cult has operated since Kanata was “discovered” to be the reincarnated God of Wishes.
All of it, everything that Kanata ever knew, was nothing but lies fed to them, practically shoved down their throat. That included the terrible idea that Madara had abandoned them after all, that he was a rogue trying to undermine and dismantle the cult to watch Kanata fall. And who were they to argue? This was their family, after all. And with so many people corroborating the story… how could they ever believe that Madara was only doing this for their own good?
The answer: they didn’t. Not until it was too late.
Maybe one day, if they ever get to return home, Kanata will finally be able to apologize to Madara for all they have cost him.
Story 3 Kanata fought hard against the collapse of the cult (though they never knew it to be one). They clung so desperately to the only life they ever knew, fearful of what would await when they acknowledged the truth. They wanted to hate Mikejima Madara and Morisawa Chiaki for all they did in shattering that illusion around them, but in truth, they never could. Their combined efforts, after all, were only ever in Kanata’s best interests.
But to be human was terrifying, and Kanata also feared they wouldn’t have Chiaki and Madara to guide them after it was all said and done. And to their credit, they weren’t entirely wrong. The Shinkai Cult fell to pieces, but fragments remained, some still attached to powerful organizations. Fearful of the Bakufu (and the electro archon who was as displeased with Kanata as ever, even after they came to acknowledge their humanity instead of claiming to be divine), Kanata fled Inazuma to escape their clutches. But they feared the remaining Fatui connections too, and that any might recognize them and either kill them or bring them back to Inazuma to either be forced back into false godhood or to be dealt with once and for all by Baal. So, with no place guaranteed safe thanks to the Fatui’s reach across all of Teyvat, Kanata began to live life on the run.
Once a god, now reduced to a mere vagabond. It’s a sad, pathetic story, and if they had the heart, Kanata would laugh.
They don’t, though, so they press on and remind themselves never to sleep in the same place twice.
Story 4  Kanata remembers the night Madara left them. They remember clinging to the back of his shirt, fear in their eyes for the first time as they asked where he was going, when he was coming back, if they could go with him. They remember how he only promised to return as he always did, and they remember how much they hated him when he did not.
Now Kanata wonders if he hates them just the same. They wonder, too, if this is how he felt all those years ago, wanting to be in one specific place (with one specific person) but not being allowed to do so. It’s terrible, heart-wrenching, and Kanata thinks it must be some cruel joke on Celestia’s part. To bless them with such a wonderful friend, to add another into the mix years later, and then tear them all apart from each other… It’s a cruelty only the gods could achieve.
They would know, wouldn’t they? They were a god for a time, after all. Maybe not by technicality, but that changes nothing. In fact, it only serves to make one thing absolutely certain:
Shinkai Kanata hates the gods and all that they stand for.
Story 5  There are rumors in Teyvat of a wandering swordsman. A samurai, really. They say he wields a great torrent and brings a storm with him wherever he goes, a violent tempest that rips apart any unfortunate enough to get too close.
Kanata is quick to point out that these are just exaggerations. They may possess the power of hydro, but they are no god. No tempest follows them, nor are there any great storms that rip apart any who get close. To achieve such power, one would need to be a god, right? And Kanata is no god.
They are, however, a friendly traveler. They will slay monsters and beasts in their travels, or clear out bandit camps and other such dangers. Especially if it is requested of them by any fortunate enough to encounter them in the wilds of Teyvat. They will not accept anything in return, though. Only gods get tributes. Kanata is no god.
Kanata is just a lonely, homesick little human. Their only wish now is to return to Inazuma, to tear Baal down alongside the others in the rebellion, and finally have a chance to rebuild their life. Alas, they are unable to do anything of the sort. So for once, Kanata is the one left to pray. There is no god to grant their wishes, though. There never was one. What god would ever look down upon the humans from their lofty home and Celestia and want to help? It’s a silly notion, a bitter one, and it always fills Kanata with that much more hate.
Isn’t there something they can do to tear even Celestia down from its high throne?
Shinkai Cult  The Shinkai Cult was founded shortly after the God of Wishes died a few thousand years ago in the Archon War. For unknown reasons, they were all convinced that their god would reincarnate someday, even when her gnosis was stolen and her life extinguished in a storm that ripped her apart so violently, as cruel as the first electro archon. And so they searched far and wide for thousands of years, over endless generations, until young Kanata was discovered. The cultists learned that they were a distant relative of a priest who worshiped the God of Wishes closely prior to her demise, and was even suspected to have been her lover. Convinced that this child, with hair like the sea the God of Wishes originated from and eyes to match her own, was the reincarnation they were looking for, the cult approached the family to invite them to join their ranks as their ancestor once had, worshipping their child as a reincarnated god.
They would not take no for an answer, though, so when they were refused, young Kanata’s family was swiftly eliminated. The child was taken in by the cult, thereby named “Shinkai” Kanata.
To this day, Kanata does not know of this story. Should there come a day where they do discover this, however…
Kanata would hunt every last member of that cult down and silence them for good.
Vision  The hydro archon is the God of Justice, but Kanata does not understand why such a god would ever bestow a vision upon them. Did she simply feel like adding a little something to sell their “sea god” act? Could archons be so willy-nilly? Or is there something behind the so-called gift? Gods are so difficult to understand. If they had their way, Kanata would never have anything to do with them ever again, not even through means of a vision.
They’re aware, though, that they shouldn’t loathe or scorn this gift. After all, many across Teyvat even pray to receive such a divine gift and the power that comes with it. Not to mention, they hail from Inazuma, where many have had their Visions stolen from them (sometimes even violently so) by a tyrant afraid to be challenged (or so they think, anyway). To scorn their vision would be an insult to all those unfortunate souls deprived of what they want or once had… But Kanata can’t help the way that they feel, either.
Nevertheless, they try to keep an open mind about it. It has its practical uses, after all. The powers granted to them through this vision have saved their life (and even those of others) more times than they can count, after all. So for that, they will never truly be ungrateful.
Make no mistake, though. Kanata is not one for justice or any of its ideals. Even if the wandering swordsman of blue is described as a hero, similar to the Darknight Hero of Mondstadt or Aoi of Inazuma, even if they, too, wish to be a hero… They know they carry far too much resentment deep down to ever truly be able to live up to it.
That certainly doesn’t mean they can’t act the part, however.

Author’s Self Recognition
Thank you @queencatherynerhys for the tag!!!
Rule: When You get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass it on to at least five other writers.
1. Mr. President - I don’t know why, but this just popped into my head yesterday morning and wrote itself before I even went to work. Liam and Riley meet the POTUS.
2. Apple Pie - I really don’t like writing dialogue (I don’t think I’m witty enough), I prefer telling stories through a character’s subtle gestures and feelings, but Maxwell and Drake were so much fun to write.
3. Unconditional (Part X of Duty) - I know I’ve heard from many of you that this part of the series destroyed you, it destroyed me too. But even with all that emotion, it somehow made me feel like Liam was still there, looking out for all of them.
4. Part I of Flight Risk - I am seriously LOVING writing this series even though it’s just begun for you all. I’ve been in love with the idea of what would happen if Liam decided to say screw you to Cordonia and follow his heart. The throne is everything to him, he’s supposed to be the level headed and calculated one of the two, but the pressure is too much especially when the one person who helps you get through it all isn’t welcome. Then once he leaves, how does he deal with the guilt, what sort of pressure does that put on his relationship with Riley, what happens to Cordonia, and what is his purpose. I could go on and on and on. I’m seriously hyped about it.
5. Toska (Part VIII of Duty) - I really enjoyed writing the kiss from both of their perspectives and mirroring the two parts of the chapter. I was a little neurotic about it, trying to keep the numbers of paragraphs and sentences as close as possible to each other, but I’m so so happy with the result.

WASHINGTON | The Latest: AMA calls for an end to border separations

WASHINGTON | The Latest: AMA calls for an end to border separations
WASHINGTON— The Latest on Congress and immigration (all times EDT):
12:01 a.m.
The largest U.S. doctors’ group, the American Medical Association, is urging the Trump administration to end promptly the practice of separating children from their migrating families at the southern border.
The AMA’s chief executive officer, Dr. James Madara, writes in a letter that families seeking refuge in the U.S. “already endure emotional and physical stress” and that separation only makes it worse.
Madara says it’s well known that childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences created by inhumane treatment often create negative health impacts that can last a lifetime.
Madara sent the letter Tuesday to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
The letter being made public Wednesday follows new policy AMA adopted at its annual meeting last week in Chicago.
___
11:10 p.m.
Congressman Mark Sanford tells The Associated Press that he’s confused by President Donald Trump’s latest attack on him, but glad his colleagues showed displeasure at Trump’s broadside.
At a closed-door meeting Tuesday on immigration with House Republicans, participants say Trump sarcastically congratulated the South Carolina Republican for a “great race.” Sanford lost his GOP primary last week after Trump urged voters to dump him. Republicans present say there were hushed boos in a show of support for Sanford, who was absent.
Sanford says he “finds some solace” in the boos, which he says friends described to him. He says it’s “startling” Trump would raise “some perceived personal slight” during a meeting on a serious topic.
The people described the meeting on condition of anonymity because the session was private.
___
7:05 p.m.
President Donald Trump worked in a verbal jab at Rep. Mark Sanford, a Republican from South Carolina, as he spoke to House Republicans Tuesday evening on Capitol Hill.
“I want to congratulate Mark on a great race,” Trump said, according to two sources who were in the room but demanded anonymity in order to discuss the private meeting.
Sanford, a frequent critic of the president, lost his primary last week to South Carolina state Rep. Katie Arrington.
He has blamed his defeat on Trump, saying support for the president is becoming a litmus test in GOP primaries. “It’s a very tribal environment right now,” he said.
__
6:55 p.m.
President Donald Trump told House Republicans he was “1,000 percent” with them on rival immigration bills up for votes, but it was not clear if he had a preference on how to handle family separations at the border.
That’s according to people who were in the closed-door session, who requested anonymity to discuss the private meeting.
“We had a great meeting,” Trump told reporters as he left the Capitol with Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.
Those in the meeting the Capitol basement say Trump discussed various topics, including his recent historic trip to North Korea.
On immigration, they say Trump told them: “I am behind you so much. We need the wall.”
__
6:50 p.m.
Human rights agencies in five Latin American nations are urging the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to push the United States to implement precautionary measures for avoiding the separation of migrant children from their families.
The petition asks the commission to demand Washington take any actions necessary to protect family rights and personal integrity. It calls the separations “dangerous” and “inhumane.”
It is signed by the governmental rights agencies of Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.
__
6 p.m.
President Donald Trump arrived for a meeting with House Republicans on Capitol Hill saying he wants to try to fix a broken immigration system.
Trump told reporters the nation’s immigration system has been “a really bad, bad system, probably the worst anywhere in the world. We’re going to try and see if we can fix it.”
The president was meeting privately with the full House Republican conference ahead of possible votes this week on immigration bills. The Trump administration faces a public outcry over its policy of separating families at the border and housing immigrant children in detention cages.
Trump was walking with House Speaker Paul Ryan, who thanked reporters but did not respond to shouted questions.
__
5:55 p.m.
Hundreds of protesters are streaming into a Philadelphia park across from a hotel where Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to speak at a fundraising dinner.
Most of the protesters are carrying signs decrying the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy on migrants, which has resulted in the separation of parents and children. Organizers arranged about 50 pairs of children’s shoes into the word “No” on the grass facing the hotel.
Steady crowds of people, many of whom came to the downtown park after work, continued to arrive well after the start of the rally. Police officers had shut down streets on two sides of the downtown park to restrict access to the hotel where Pence is speaking this evening.
__
5:40 p.m.
Hundreds of demonstrators are protesting outside the offices of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement in San Francisco, banging drums and chanting “Stop taking children!” and “The people are rising, no more compromising!” amid a growing uproar over the Trump administration’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents.
Some in the group of about 500 are holding signs that read “Refugees In, ICE Out” and “Keep Families Together.”
__
5:30 p.m.
President Donald Trump would seriously consider a stand-alone bill that would prevent migrant children from being separated from their parents at the border.
That’s according to a White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the president’s position by name.
The official says the president wants a comprehensive immigration fix, but will seriously consider a stand-alone bill if he’s presented with one.
The position appears to be a departure from Monday, when White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders declined to voice support for a narrower fix, saying: “We want to fix the entire system. We don’t want to just tinker with it.”
Trump is heading to Capitol Hill shortly to discuss the issue with House Republicans.

5 p.m.
A Guatemalan woman who said her 7-year-old son was “ripped away” from her after they came to the U.S. seeking asylum has sued the Trump administration.
Beata Mariana de Jesus Mejia-Mejia alleges that border agents took her son two days after they crossed the U.S. border near San Luis, Arizona, on May 19.
The lawsuit says her son was “screaming and crying” when border agents took him away and cried “Mama!” repeatedly the one time she was allowed to speak to him by phone.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday in Washington, D.C., says the boy is believed to be housed in a Phoenix detention facility for unaccompanied minors.
__
4:50 p.m.
Mayors from across the U.S. plan to travel to the Texas border to protest the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy on migrants that has resulted in the separation of families.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors says its president, Steve Benjamin, who is the mayor of Columbia, South Carolina, will lead a bipartisan delegation of mayors. They will gather for a news conference Thursday morning at the Tornillo port of entry, located outside of El Paso.
The conference unanimously passed a resolution last week registering its opposition to separating children from their families at the border.
Mayors expected to attend also include Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and El Paso Mayor Dee Margo.
__
4:45 p.m.
A crowd protesting the Trump administration’s separation of immigrant children at the border greeted Vice President Mike Pence with boos and drumbeats as his caravan arrived at an upstate New York Republican fundraiser.
Syracuse.com reports that several hundred protesters lined several blocks across from Tuesday’s event with Rep. John Katko, a central New York Republican.
Later, Pence toured the Nucor Steel plant in Auburn. There, he spent about four minutes addressing the immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, where migrant children are being separated from their parents under a zero-tolerance policy.
Pence blamed weak immigration laws and said the administration doesn’t want children taken from parents.
__
4 p.m.
Bono, the lead singer of U2, is calling on members of Congress from both parties to demand an end to family separations at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“I cannot think of a more un-American thing than warehousing children,” the musician tells The Associated Press.
Bono says that because he’s Irish, it’s hard not to think of his own people’s history. He says of the family separations, “For anybody, but for Irish people, who were essentially economic refuges to this country, it’s very, very upsetting.”
Bono was visiting Capitol Hill Tuesday to thank Republican and Democratic lawmakers in Congress for funding international development programs. He’s the co-founder of The One Campaign, which advocates for ending extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.
__
3:55 p.m.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says New York state will sue the federal government over the Trump administration’s policy of separating families accused of crossing the U.S. border illegally.
The Democrat said in a conference call with reporters Tuesday that he expects the lawsuit to be filed within two weeks.
Cuomo says at least 70 children who were separated from their parents are currently being housed in New York facilities that have contracts with the federal government. Most of the facilities are in the New York City area.
Cuomo says the Trump administration’s policy of separating families is “inhumane.”
The governor says the lawsuit will claim the children were taken from their parents without due process under federal and state laws.
The Trump administration says the family separations are required under the law.
__
3:30 p.m.
Homeland Security officials say there have been 148 cases where someone fraudulently posed as a family member of children at the U.S. border from October to April.
According to figures released Tuesday, the cases involved 301 people. Officials did not say how many were children.
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has said there was a 314 percent increase in adults showing up with kids who are not family members. She says they are traffickers and smugglers.
More than 2,300 minors have been separated from their families crossing the border to the U.S. under a zero-tolerance policy where everyone caught crossing illegally is prosecuted.
Nielsen says those legitimately seeking asylum should go to official border crossings with their families and they will not be separated.
____
3:05 p.m.
Some business leaders are condemning the Trump administration’s decision to separate children from parents who are accused of crossing the border illegally.
The Business Roundtable, a lobbying group that includes the CEOs of Walmart Inc., General Motors Co., Boeing Co. and Mastercard Inc., released a statement Tuesday urging the immediate end to the policy.
“This practice is cruel and contrary to American values,” said Chuck Robbins, the chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems Inc. and the head of the Business Roundtable’s immigration committee.
The group called for comprehensive immigration reform that protects some immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children. The group also doesn’t want to curb legal immigration, which it says helps U.S. businesses.

The GOP healthcare plan would eviscerate Planned Parenthood funding — but defunding is about a lot more than abortions
When Jaime Benner was a teenager, her mom took her to Planned Parenthood to get on birth control.
When she found a lump in her breast a decade later, a local provider told Benner it would take three weeks to see her. She again turned to Planned Parenthood, which saw her that day.
Near Benner’s tiny town of Rodman, New York, which she describes as the “middle of nowhere,” the Planned Parenthood center has been “part of the community” for decades.
Over half of Planned Parenthood’s 650 health centers are in rural or medically underserved areas with health professional shortages. In 105 counties across the US, Planned Parenthood is the only full-service reproductive health clinic. Benner’s Jefferson County is one of them.
“Especially in an area like this where we’re already underserved and Planned Parenthood is so consequential to our community, I cannot imagine what it would be like if we didn’t have them here,” Benner, a 30-year-old insurance agent who has been speaking out about her experiences with the organization, told Business Insider in March. “We need it, and I’m pretty sure the majority of the United States is rural … There are more places like where I live than big cities.”
‘Defunding’
Republicans have been trying to “defund” Planned Parenthood for years. The plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act — which passed the House in May and was unveiled in the Senate on Thursday — would bring that goal to fruition.
The Senate version, called the Better Care Reconciliation Act, wouldn’t allow funding from the bill to help people purchase insurance plans that include coverage for abortions, in any case besides saving the life of the mother, incest, or rape.
The House version of the bill, known as the American Health Care Act, has a provision that wouldn’t allow states to use “direct spending” on “prohibited entities” with federal funds allocated from the AHCA for one year. Prohibited entities are defined as any “essential community provider” that is “primarily engaged in family planning services, reproductive health, and related medical care” or “provides for abortions.”
The Senate version of the bill, which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he wants the chamber to vote on before the July 4 recess, includes a similar one year provision.
Planned Parenthood meets that definition, despite the fact that it is already illegal to use federal funds to pay for an abortion except in the case of rape, incest, or if the mother’s health is endangered. Congress first passed the Hyde Amendment blocking the funds in 1977, four years after the Supreme Court ruled women have a constitutional right to abortion in Roe v. Wade.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report in March concluding that withholding funds for longer than a year would save money outright, but also end up costing the government money, because so many low- and middle-income women rely on Planned Parenthood for contraceptive care, especially.
“By CBO’s estimates, in the one-year period in which federal funds for Planned Parenthood would be prohibited under the legislation, the number of births in the Medicaid program would increase by several thousand, increasing direct spending for Medicaid by $21 million in 2017 and by $77 million over the 2017-2026 period,” the report reads.
The move is wildly unpopular among Americans. A Quinnipiac University poll conducted in January found that 62% of voters oppose defunding Planned Parenthood. And a PerryUndem poll from March found that 74% oppose taking away Planned Parenthood funds that are used for birth control, yearly checkups, and cancer screenings for low-income women.
According to the organization’s most recent annual report, 41% ($555 million) of Planned Parenthood’s funding each year comes from government reimbursements and grants, and most of its services aren’t abortions:
Erica Sackin, director of political communications for Planned Parenthood, said the century-old family planning provider is more than just abortions for the 2.5 million people who visit their health centers each year.
“They can turn to us if they need to no matter what,” she told Business Insider in December amid the fervor of Trump winning the presidency. “That’s what’s under attack.”
‘Our nation’s most vulnerable patients’
Benner was between jobs, and health insurance, when she discovered the lump in her breast, and Planned Parenthood staff helped her sign up for Medicaid so she could afford her cancer treatment.
Nearly two-thirds of the organization’s patients rely on public programs like Medicaid to pay for their care. “Defunding” the organization, (as many states have and now Congress proposes to do with the AHCA), means those patients, like Benner, would have to pay for healthcare out of pocket.
A dozen associations of medical professionals sent a letter to Congress in February urging them not to cut funding for Planned Parenthood because it would “severely curtail women’s access to essential healthcare services.”
“At a time when there is much uncertainty about the future of affordable healthcare in our country, it is dangerous to cut off access to the life-saving preventive care that Planned Parenthood provides to some of our nation’s most vulnerable patients,” the letter reads.
The American Medical Association sent a letter to senators on Monday expressing its members’ opposition to the GOP plan, calling out the Planned Parenthood defunding for preventing low-income patients in particular from choosing one of the organization’s 650 health centers for their care.
“These provisions violate longstanding AMA policy on patients’ freedom to choose their providers and physicians’ freedom to practice in the setting of their choice,” AMA CEO Dr. James L. Madara wrote in the letter.
In a tweetstorm on March 22, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards criticized politicians that have suggested other healthcare centers could absorb the organization’s patients if the AHCA cuts its funding.
“To justify this attack, politicians like @VP, @SpeakerRyan, & @SecPriceMD have repeatedly—& falsely—claimed women can just go elsewhere,” she tweeted. “Why can’t women just go somewhere else instead of PP? For starters, in many communities, there *is* nowhere else.”
Abortion activists had a brief victory after Republicans pulled the AHCA bill from a vote on March 24 when they didn’t have enough votes. But another version of the bill (both contained defunding provisions) passed the House 217-213 on May 4, with 20 Republicans and all Democrats voting against it.
The Senate will have to pass its bill next, the two versions will have to be reconciled, and then the president will have to sign the resulting bill, in order for the GOP healthcare plan to become law.
‘Programs like that saved my life’
When Benner went to Planned Parenthood for the lump in her breast, the nurse examined it and set up an appointment with a radiologist for her to have a mammogram.
The results were inconclusive, so staff got Benner an appointment at a clinic in Rochester that diagnosed her with breast cancer that day.
She received a double mastectomy 2.5 weeks later.
If she had waited the three weeks for the earliest appointment with the local provider, Benner’s condition would likely have progressed to advanced, Stage IV breast cancer since it was moving into her lymphatic system. As she underwent chemotherapy and radiation, Planned Parenthood staff checked in on her, and the doctor there stuck with her throughout her treatment.
After Benner’s breast cancer went into remission, staff at her clinic asked if she wanted to share her story, and she started speaking out about her experience with Planned Parenthood. She met with members of Congress at the US Capitol and appears in an ad for the organization encouraging President Donald Trump to “stand with survivors, protect Planned Parenthood.”
“Without programs like this, I wouldn’t be alive,” she said. “My story, like many other stories I’ve heard since I told my story, show that Planned Parenthood is a necessary medical provider.”

Even though the buzz has finally started to fade from the news cycle, Fitness 2.zero cofounder Matthew Holt couldn’t face up to bringing American Medical Affiliation CEO James Madara on degree to take him to challenge for his now well-known “snake oil” comments from the Spring.
“Ultimate yr, you sat right here in this chair and you had been excellent great to us,” Holt joked. “Then, I’m on my vacation in Vietnam and my Twitter feed begins blowing up with this snake oil stuff. Do you love us or do you hate us?”
Madara spoke back that “there is love and there’s hate”, mentioning the AMA’s work with Omada Health as an instance of a virtual Health intervention he cherished and the troublingly misguided blood stress app Immediate Blood pressure as one he hated.
“Why boost a siren now with this deliberately used time period ‘snake oil’? The reason now is I assume we’re in a duration of criticality for [digital health]. The criticality is that there’s no regulatory framework. I suppose virtual Fitness is going to be part of the transformation of healthcare. However, if that is so crucial for healthcare, does all and sundry think that it’s going to stay unregulated?”
Madara thinks the industry wishes self-regulation of apps and connected devices that’s strong enough that HHS will furnish legitimacy to the ones efforts. He thinks relying too closely at the FDA may want to bring about rules which are “heavy-handed, they overreach, and that they’re one-length-fits-all”.
But also … snake bites?
One of the most exciting shows at the pre-conference pharma roundtable changed into from Deloitte, which contracted with pharma business enterprise BTG to create Snakebite 911, an app to assist users keep away from snake bites and reply efficiently in the event of a snake chunk. BTG makes Crofab, an antivenom for North American pit viper bites.
Matthew Visitor, head of virtual method consulting at Deloitte, pointed out how the use of a lean startup technique helped BTG increase the app on a faster product cycle than the organisation became used to, and how an awesome knowledge of the consumer’s needs and behaviors knowledgeable the development.
“This one’s all approximately know-how your customers as human beings,” he stated. “The snake tracker became very arguable, due to the fact we didn’t want humans going to find snakes. That could probable have caused excellent use of the drug, But it’s not definitely the final results we were seeking out.”
Fitness 2.0 move over, Health 3.0 is here
Some days before the convention, healthcare investor Dave Chase and athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush teamed up to pen an article arguing that Fitness 1.0 — healthcare before computers became inefficient, But healthcare nowadays (Health 2.0) has misplaced the human contact and made medical doctors spend too much time in provider of EMRs and documentations. The next generation in healthcare, they argue, will integrate the fine aspects of the two, and make technology serve affected person care, as opposed to the alternative manner round.
Bush took the stage on Wednesday and expounded on some more of the specifics of that idea, pronouncing that it would take big EHR providers committing to a real connectivity to allow the real feel of digital Fitness technology to scale.
“You’ve been given a lot of these ideas, you do the demos, they make sense,” he stated. “But they don’t explode, they don’t raise off. I suppose humans gets out of company software program or the corporation software program agencies will remake themselves. You’re already seeing the Mad Hatter talking approximately pulling the various times of Epic collectively, making it more of a network. As that happens, that idea of a web makes the capacity to genuinely blow out, to make cash fast a possibility in healthcare.”
Karen DeSalvo on the virtual Fitness revolution
The shift of presidency, the personal region and clients of coming collectively to address the biggest troubles in healthcare is beginning to expose, and the excellent indication is the innovation in virtual Health. However, if you want to do greater, all parties should continue working collectively and supplying possibilities inside the shape of policies, partnerships and data. That was the takeaway from a speech by way of Karen DeSalvo, HHS’s Acting Assistant Secretary for Fitness, at Fitness 2.0. “We’ve visible some historical adjustments within the Ultimate eight years,” stated DeSalvo. “And that I sometimes think we begin to take them for granted, However it’s been a first rate possibility to definitely placed people first and understand that they’re at the center of all of this.
