GX Month Day 5: Dramatic Rescue

Yeah boi, headcanon time! Now, I could've done a fanfic with one headcanon or two, but I think I used up all of my inspiration juice on the next two prompts I'm doing so naaaah, you just get a list of my crazy headcanons about Duel World GX. It's a horrible excuse, I know, but I'm incompetent like that and idk what else to say honestly sooo here we go.

1- Shou treats Cycroid like a pet. Literally. They go out on walks and everything, and their favorite spot is the bridge to the PvP Arena. Cycroid even makes those cute little tire scraping noises when Shou pats his seat, and everyone else has mixed reactions of 'Meh' and 'AWWWW' because the guy finally found his own smol spirit partner and they're adorable together.

2- Fubuki's been trying to log into the game for a good while now, and while he's already registered into the database, the game still refuses to let him in. Whenever someone asks him about it, he just shrugs and says "Don't worry kiddos, I'm just waiting for the right time to make my grand entrance!"

...He totally doesn't play sad ukulele music when he randomly realizes how much action he missed. Nope, definitely not.

3- O'Brien is secretly a hardcore grinder, and has almost every event title that could be obtained since he came to the game, in addition to reaching King of Games 7 times. He still keeps telling everyone he's only here to research the magical bullshit strange occurences going on in the Duel World, though. Can't have anyone know he's a pro gamer after all.

4- Some trivia about the Standard Duelists: Evan is a first-year, Kylie, Madison and Logan are second-years, and Zachary and Alyssa are third-years at Academia. They have a kinda sorta club thing where they meet up every week in a Duel Room and play, but something always goes wrong in the end (mainly because Zachary's a salty sore loser).

Madison has the braincell of the group and sort of a tsundere, Alyssa tries (and fails) to be the voice of reason, Kylie is the main force that holds the group together in the first place, Evan and Logan are Insecure Bros™, and Zachary...nobody cares about Zachary.

(I'm totally not being biased af against him because he annoys me, I legit can't see anyone getting along with the guy. He's literally 1st Arc Manjoume 2.0, but much more of a pushover.)

5- Aight, this one's been stuck in my head since August 1st, and it makes no sense but also kinda does. As you may or may not know, Duel Links has this weirdass tendency to recreate dead characters or ones that aren't supposed to exist, and also creates younger versions of living ones. As a result, Duel World GX has two of these (that's an abysmally low number compared to DM and 5D's btw), those being Smol Juudai and a virtual incarnation of the Supreme King.

The headcanon here is this: The two actually kinda get along. Sorta. Okay to be fair, their relationship was mainly Smol Juudai following the King around everywhere he goes, trying to get the guy to talk, only to be met by "......" every single time.

You think that'll stop him? Oh hell no. This kid has seen another version of himself that has gone down a terribly wrong path, and he's making it his mission to understand why. He keeps stalking following him, tries to Duel him (he loses once and forces out a draw twice), and after twenty-one days of persistence and maximum levels of determination in the face of constantly failing attempts, the King finally throws the towel and talks.

And somehow, he's not sure exactly how, he slowly stops thinking of his doppelgänger as an annoyance. Yes, he may be too positive at times, too naïve, too trusting and outgoing and friendly and kind, but he's trying his best to understand him, he's trying to befriend him...and...he doesn't mind the gesture.

(And on a side note, he ends up telling Smol Juudai his real name because he's so tired of being constantly and unncessarily called by his title (I might elaborate on that little hc if asked I guess). This should be a separate headcanon too but well, screw it, I believe his real name is Jaden and I'll die with that belief.)

It’s hard to talk to you if you’re down there and he’s on the rooftops

He loves listening to you talk, even if you’re just complaining about work

Long hours, coworkers, terrible rules, and even worse management

He literally loves spending time with you- he sometimes claims to be tired just so you two can walk slower

Your friendship has gotten to the point where you have started bro-hugging your greetings instead of shaking hands

You both want to hang out on weekends but you are both too shy to ask

So, one weekend, he finally invites you over to the Lair

He isn’t shocked by seeing you, he’s surprised at how much more relaxed you look out of uniform

How much different you look- a good different!

Instead of khakis. You sported loose, distressed jeans. Instead of loafers, you wore Jordans. Instead of a collared t-shirt, you wore a distressed muscle shirt and a leather jacket. Instead of having a hair tie tying your hair to the back of your neck, you gelled it.

You reminded him of Danny from “Grease,” and he low-key loves it

When you two get to the Lair, you are immediately seen by Raph, who is trying to play baseball by himself

“Oh my god, you must be Y/N,” Raph says to you

“Yeah, what’s it to ya?”

“Nothin’, just date Mikey already- he will not shut up about you, I shit you not.”

You are immediately flustered

Mikey is, too, and goes to Raph

“Stop it, I have a reputation to uphold!” Mikey mutters

“You want to tie her up? What is up with you?”

“Raph!”

“Shut up Raph! We all know I’d take control,” you’d say

Raph and Mikey both have wide eyes as they stare at you

Mikey smiles, both proud of you and embarrassed

That was so in-character for you, but also the subject matter

“Mikey, if you don’t marry her, I will.”

You have never seen Mikey literally hiss before

But you pull Mikey away from Raph and ask him to show you around

It’s been a few months since then, and you’ve met the rest of his brothers and his father

They’ve gotten used to your presence around the Lair

They know you spend most of your time with Mikey, and they don’t really mind

You still take time to hang out with them, either individually or in a group

You hadn’t really been a Knicks fan, but a while later, you let yourself get convinced by Mikey

So, that’s how you ended up finding yourself in the jumbotron of the Madison Square Garden

You, Mikey, and his brothers were all watching the Knicks beat the Laker’s asses 130-78 in the last quarter

Once the obvious winner was determined in the last second, you took Donnie’s pea shooter

“Mikey, control your girlfriend!”

“That’s not my job! I drink Respect Women Juice! Also, we’re not dating!”

Donnie rolls his eyes as you take aim toward the coach of the Lakers

“I bet you can’t aim it onto his nose,” Mikey says to you

“If I don’t?” you ask him

“You have to get me individual pizzas for a week,” he smiles

“And if I do?”

“Your victory, you’re choice.”

You smile at this information.

“I’m not telling you my end of the deal until after I get it on his nose.”

You shoot a glance to his brothers, paired with a wicked- yet nervous- smirk

They then knew what you were doing

You focus your attention on the Laker’s coach- Frank Vogel

You watch him closely, predicting his moves

And then, you fire. It’s going to be close, but… It makes it, directly on target

You celebrate and Mike pouts.

“Whatever. What’s your end?”

“You date me.”

His eyes go wide, but he doesn’t complain.

That was about a year ago now.

You still laugh about how you won

idk dude I just love the littluns a lot. I need to reread the book but from memory/the list of canonical characters + names I keep for reference, there’s 4 canon* littluns and I love them all.

*and by canon i mean they have names (in 3/4 cases, anyway) and therefore we can extrapolate Actual Personality

Johnny

- he’s just turned 7, and is very proud of this fact

- very messy and clumsy; the kind of kid that’ll trip over his own shoelaces and tumble down a flight of stairs, but brush it off immediately

- because of this he’s always covered in scratches and/or dirt

- always sucking his thumb or otherwise chewing on something

- not the most attentive child in the world, he gets distracted pretty easily

Percival Wemys Madison

- 6 years old

- he’s a very strict rule follower, I think

- a little chubby (of course, the time in the island sort of gets rid of that, but let me have this)

- he holds himself and others to pretty particular standards, but not in a mean way, just because he’s used to a very specific set of rules and likes following them

- he sunburns b a d, and once the redness clears is left with more freckles than he had before

- barely 6 at the beginning of the story

- very Smol. so tiny. it worries everyone, honestly, because no one believes that he eats enough but actually he’s just,,,, little

- he’s actually really gullible (probably because he’s 6, but even then) and so will usually believe what you tell him

- sorta insecure about his birthmark? like he’s just constantly super aware of it when he thinks about himself, even tho no one’s bullied him or anything

- 8

- because he’s that little bit older he pretends to be ‘too cool’ and grownup to play with the other littluns, but the older kids don’t quite want to let him hang out with them either. so he tends to hang out on the fringes of the littluns (+ Piggy bc he’s the one who’s basically in charge of them) and whatever their activity of the moment is

- he gets attached to them (the other littluns) though, and by the time they’re rescued he would protect them with his life
