I'm losing my mind thinking about Jon terrified out of his mind in the tunnels where his predecessor got fucking murdered, being chased by a fucking monster that he accidentally unleashed, with only a tape recorder and a fucking metal pipe. My bro is in need of buckets of therapy

You know when Tim and Martin meet Michael in the tunnels and they don't know who he is? Michael says "I’m Michael. Did the Archivist not tell you about me?" and they say no? I'm actually less interested in Jon not mentioning Michael, and much more interested in Sasha.

To me this implies either that

1. Sasha straight up never told Tim or Martin about Michael, which is especially strange considering she woke Martin up in the Archives in the middle of the night after her encounter and that Tim got her coffee about it and both of them obviously knew she made a statement about something

Or

2. Sasha did tell Tim and Martin about Michael but NotSasha erased/changed the memory

And frankly I don't know which one is worse

I love that our "mystery voice" at the end of this episode calls Jon "Mr. Sims" - and is, indeed, one of the only people to ever do so - because technically both his and Jon's voice actors are also Mr. Sims

It would have been hilarious to get some line of “call me Jon, Mr. Sims is my father.”

I'm never gonna get over how in what Jon thought were the last few moments of his life, he apologised to Martin Tim and Sasha. HE CARES SO MUCH ABOUT THEM AND ALL HE WANTS IN THE END IS FOR THEM TO KNOW HE CARES AND HE TRIED AND HE WANTS THEM TO BE OK!!!! HES WILLING TO PUSH ASIDE THE VERY REAL POSSIBILITY THAT HE WILL DIE A MYSTERY TO DO THAT!!!

apprently, this is the shortest episode of the entire show, which is really surprising considering how much happens in it

yesterday i made the rather uncontroversial take that jon wasn't stupid for breaking the table. today, i'm going to make one that far fewer people seem to agree with: tim was being at least semi-reasonable here. like, i'm sorry, but if my boss had been stalking me and taking out his breakdown on me, i wouldn't have much sympathy for him either

also, i'm surprised by how much people take martin's words at face value? we litteraly all know he's biased. he talks about tim not caring about jon's deterioating state and the shit he's gone through, but it really isn't like jon's done that for tim either? like, nobody is caring about tim's breakbown either? yeah, he's keeping things better together, but they went through pretty much the same thing regarding jane prentiss. tim's being bitchy here, but not wrong or unjustified in my opinion. i know people don't agree, and that's fine, but if anyone wants to express why they're very welcome because i'm lowkey confused about it. martin's totally right about the happy ending stuff, though, and i'm glad he got to snap a bit

however, going over to jon, he once again here expresses not wanting to end up as another mystery. it's a bit of a recurring theme for him, actually. he does not want to be forgotten or dissapear, which does actually make him a bit more eye-aligned to me. it's not about wanting attention or fame or whatever, but just about needing to be remebered, recognized, and percieved

Hey this is the episode with Martin's poetry! I thought that was Mag 39, and then I was confused when this didn't happen forty episodes ago.

Oh lol, Tim didn't leave because he wanted to bail and didn't give a shit that Jon was obviously lying, he bailed because he could tell Jon was obviously lying and knew him well enough to know that confronting him directly would be pointless.

Extremely sad over the fact that Tim knows Jon well enough to see through his bullshit and accurately predict when he's about to do something life-threateningly stupid. They used to be friends. :(

The difference between Martin and Tim's character arcs this season is distilled in the help him/stop him lines.

Tim's so far gone he's convinced Jon's going to land himself in jail.
