AU where Celebrimbor figures out that Halbrand is Sauron and then figures out that the best way to defeat evil is to appeal to Sauron’s inner Smithing Nerd and all of a sudden Sauron can’t focus on dominating Middle-Earth because Celebrimbor roped him into a few ongoing projects and then he got distracted because the elven blades are just not up to standard at all and the armour, don’t get him started on the armour!
Plus Lindon is starting to get a steady supply of mithril and he’s never played with that kind of ore before, it was created after he went to serve Morgoth, and he can’t pass this opportunity up. So many pretty things to make! So much to do!

The man, Michael Smith, 52, was accused in a federal indictment unsealed on Wednesday of stealing royalty payments from digital streaming platforms for seven years. Mr. Smith, a flesh-and-blood musician, produced A.I.-generated music and played it billions of times using bots he had programmed, according to the indictment.

There's something about Mairon being named Mairon is that it is an elvish name, in A Name for the Dark Lord by Helge Fauskanger it's debated that since Mairon is a Quenya name [based on the word Maira (Q) = “admirable, excellent, precious, splendid, sublime” ] it could have been given by the Elves when he was still in Valinor. This of course is in one of Tolkien's earlier experimentation with Sauron's earlier career in a timeline the Maia would have lived amongst the Elves in Valinor before joining Melkor. That we know was then abandoned.
If you know me, you know that's my favourite headcanon. And it makes it easier to explain his original name. The other is that Valarin and Eldarin could have been similar but Tolkien also dropped the idea when he decided that when the Elves began working on their own languages they were encouraged to come up with one that was different from Valarin. Except it definitely made it into Quenya (and even in Aidunic somehow? [iniðil "lily, or other large single flower" appears in Adûnaic (Númenórean) as inzil "flower"]).
Ainur have Valarin names: Manwë = Mânawenûz , Aulë = A3ûlêz, Ossë = Ošošai/ Ošša ¹ so it is not too far fetched to claim that Mairon would have had his own Valarin name. My point - and one of my favourite idea to toy with when writing, is this one:
if you follow canon and Elves had never met Mairon would they be aware of his original name as generations pass? if let's say Fëanor grew curious when apprenticing under Aulë - about his mysterious gifted former Maia and the Vala would have revealed that Sauron had once been called Mairon (then running with the idea that his Valarin name would have been adapted in Quenya like the rest of the Ainur dealing in Valinor for practical reasons) would it be something that would have become popular knowledge to his kids or nephews? Or even better, would the Sindarin Elves be aware? I doubt the Noldor in exile would have kept this on top of their minds when trying to stay alive - esp. when Morgoth was a bigger threat atm.
Now, Sauron was a moniker given in disdain and Mairon continued to call himself by his pretty name until Akkalabeth but I highly doubted that outside of Melkor and possibly those in his immediate entourage it was common knowledge for the average Elf trying not to end up in Mandos Halls. If someone in the First Age (or early second) would have encountered a random dude walking Middle Earth and saying his name was Mairon, how many exactly would have connected the dots?

I’ve had a very good time with it. I may only play like one game a year but I go in for the bruises when i do??
Break time’s over with the end of this weekend tho, so i’ll be back in full swing! Hopefully i’ve not been too influenced by the fib boy game

What’s On Michael Portillo’s iPod: W. H. Lung
Here at Birthday Cake For Breakfast, we like to get to the heart of what an artist is all about. We feel that what influences them is just as important as the music they make. With that in mind, ahead of releasing their new album ‘Every Inch of Earth Pulsates‘ (via Melodic Records), vocalist Joseph Evans of local Manchester lot W. H. Lung talk us through a number of influences. Take it…

I'm kind of obsessed with this scene for reasons.
Prior to this, the Halbrand we were shown was always cool as a cucumber. He was careful enough to not lose his composure and adapted to his circumstances. Not even insults over his guise of a 'low man' could get under his skin. In hindsight, it was his awareness of his own superiority over the Men of Numenor that made him unfazed before pretty much every situation he faced. Be it the insults or being turned down by the Smith. If the situation demands then he would bend accordingly to ensure his survival and best interests.
Yet, what struck a nerve with him, for the very first time, was Tamar's jibe about him not being worthy of Galadriel. That she would prefer someone better than him. Tamar is a certified jerk but he correctly identified Halbrand's interest in Galadriel and hit him where it hurt most. He was just unlucky because the one he chose to mess with was a Maia with rejection issues. That taunt was what broke the facade momentarily and brought the Sauron out of him which culminated in that brutal alley brawl.
Probably from Sauron's perspective, if not for the teensy weensy fact that he sided with Morgoth and served him as his chief lieutenant, there is no one more deserving of Galadriel than him and she has no reason to deny him.
Tamar's remark was akin to someone splashing cold water and he is faced with the possibility of her refusing him which is something he can't handle but has to deal with inevitably. This is why he was almost ready to murder Tamar on the spot at the expense of blowing his cover.

And, as a bonus, there is him showing off his skills a bit after the She Elf's impressive display of her fighting prowess.

So i just realised something kinda wild. Hear me out, this is a long one and my mind is so blown rn. I'm so sorry this is word vomit.
Saruman (Curumo) KNEW Sauron (Marion), as they were both Maia of Aulë. Which is likely why he specifically was the perfect candidate for Sauron to seduce to his side. Saruman was also JEALOUS of Sauron's power.
Now, if the 'Curu' part of his name sounds familiar, it's present in Fëanor's father name 'Curufinwë' and his son Curufin's name, meaning crafty/skilled/cunning. The two were also smiths.
Aulë was also known as "The Great Smith"
So there is a chance, Fëanor (Curufinwë), and therefore his son Curufin, were named AFTER the Maia Saruman (Curumo).
Which then, Saruman's seduction to join Sauron also, to some degree, is linked to- and almost parallels-Celebrimbor's seduction to help Sauron make the Rings Of Power.
Saruman later takes on Sauron's title of 'Ring-Maker', which likely stemmed from his jealousy of Sauron. While yes, Sauron did help forge the Rings, Celebrimbor was also the Ring-Maker to some extent as well.
In PJ's trilogy, Gandalf tells Saruman "There is only one Lord of The Ring, only one who can bend it to his will. And he does not share power."
In TROP, Annatar (Sauron), tells Celebrimbor, "I can bring you the knowledge none other possesses. I can unlock your grandest abilities. And when our work is complete, never again will the world overlook you as the mere scion of Fëanor, but forevermore revere you The Lord Of The Rings."
So what i'm trying to say is... it's all connected in the most subtle way and Tolkien is the most prolific writer I've ever seen.
Feel free to add anything below!
