Some footage I filmed with a super eight camera on Monhegan island in the 1970s painting. I was only a small child then, and it’s amazing how my fellow painters @bjornrunquistart and Kevin Beers look exactly the same then as they do now. (just kidding, this is an iPhone video with a filter. Fun, no?) ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• If you’re not familiar with it this is a small island off the coast of Maine that’s incredibly popular as a place for plein air painting. I would go so far as to say half of the paintings you think are from Maine in general are actually done on Monhegan. I’m not particularly thrilled with my painting, I probably needed to think more about my composition, since I knew I would only get one painting done. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I also visited the Monhegan museum and saw a beautiful show of painters that had painted both at Cape Anne in Massachusetts and Monhegan island in Maine. It’s an incredible place for painting and I recommend it to anyone who comes up to Maine even if it’s just a one day trip. Lots of cool art to see on the island as well. There’s a bird nest above our kitchen door at the new house. So far this summer, momma bird has laid two sets of eggs. This little guy fell out yesterday, and I popped him back in.
