About to send out my third batch of agent query letters tonight. I’ve been keeping busy working on another freelance picture book as well as trying and yet failing at getting into Pat Cummings’ Children’s Book Boot Camp. Rejection sure makes your skin get thick quicker. Trying to steel myself for more non-responses and keep my mind busy with other creative projects. But I cant help but continue to strategize what I want to make better for Weird, But Good’s dummy. There’s still so much more I could do to make the dummy better, but sometimes you need to tell yourself to give it a rest. If only for right now. Extra fun tidbit, Lyon’s older sister featured in this painting isnnownko longer in the dummy I am querying. Okay, so here’s what I have for Shouko so far.

- She’s 17 years old.

- She has a mixed complexion, meaning that she looks like both her mother and her father.

- Like her father, she’s rather relaxed and passive most of the time.

-Like her mother, she can have bursts of energy and become rather excited when talking about her favorite hobbies, interests, what she wants to do in the future, vacation planning, etc. (basically anything exciting to her)

- She tends to be quiet when she is very focused and fixated on something, when this happens you can hear a pin drop very easily.

- She can sometimes become slightly oblivious when a situation comes up.

- She got her big eyes from her dad, often having her eyes that way when someone speaks to her or when she is in an awkward situation. (Can happen also when she is flustered and embarrassed in some situations)

- The name 'Shouko' means 'Clear, bright, happiness'. (I imagine Audrey picked the name since she likes names that have a positive meaning behind them, and Shouko was a happy baby when she was born.)
