a/n: this is an interesting take on this trope! when i put it on the list, this was not exactly the person and scenario I'd imagined for this quote and trope, but i'm happy to write it!! i like writing new things! thank you anon for requesting, and i hope this is what you had in mind! enjoy ♡

maki looks around the lively room. he's currently at a party his friends have dragged him to, except they've all gone off and he's all alone.

he keeps looking for his friends when he spots you.

you meet his curious, doe-like orbs with your own siren eyes.

immediately, you decide you need to have this man. he's simply too cute and attractive. you have the urge to steal him and take him far away so only you can look at him.

maki's curious eyes turn fearful as he realizes you're eyeing him as if you want to devour him whole. he realizes as your eyes flash red exactly what you are.

a demon.

maki obviously knew there would be demons at this party, but he could not have predicted he'd pique one's interest. he wonders if the rumors and myths about your kind are true - are you truly capable of unimaginable sins? would you snap and kill him in a heartbeat?

you notice the look on his face change from curious to terrified, and flash him a smile as if to say 'it's alright, i'm not gonna hurt you,' as you're thinking quite the opposite. there's just something about him that makes you want to protect him forever.

as you smile at him, he takes in your razor-sharp teeth from across the room, and his fear turns to sheer panic.

"relax, she won't hurt you," a voice says from beside him. a girl slings her arm around his shoulder. "i think she likes you, actually, considering she looks like she wants to rip my throat out."

maki looks back to you to see you making a face that's truly much more terrifying. somehow, even looking angry, he's able to notice how absolutely stunning you look in your red dress with your hair down.

"do you wanna go get a drink with me?" the mystery girl next to him asks.

only then does he notice her sharp teeth and red eyes.

"oh- i, uh-"

"sorry to interrupt, but can i steal this guy away for a sec?"

maki turns to see that you've made your way across the floor and are now standing in front of him, seemingly close to bursting into flames.

the girl side eyes you, but maki feels something wrong about staying with her, so he opts to nod at you as you take his hand and lead him back across the room.

you both seat yourselves on an unoccupied couch, ignoring the couple making out against the wall next to you.

"sorry if i startled you," you say. "that girl is just-"

"dangerous, right?" maki asks, and you're taken aback at how he knew that. "i could kind of sense something was wrong with her."

"she's one of those demons who hurts humans for fun," you explain. "i won't get into detail, but it's pretty fucked up."

his eyes widen. "wait- so you mean all demons aren't like that?"

you're again taken aback. "how little do you know about us? the laws we go by say we can't do any harm to humans."

it's his turn to be surprised now. "but- earlier, you were staring at me like you were gonna eat me."

you laugh, and he somehow still thinks the sound is sweet. "i wasn't gonna eat you, silly. though i could if you want me to-"

"i'm good, trust me." he chuckles.

"so what's your name, handsome?" you ask.

he blushes furiously. "it's maki. well- riki, technically, but my friends call me maki."

"cute," you mutter. "i'm ____."

"that's a pretty name," he says, attempting to be bold.

you giggle. a new song plays in the background, a japanese song you recognize by bts. "ooh, i like this song!"

he nods his head to the beat. "it's a nice song. you have good taste.

you stand up in front of maki and extend your hand. "may i have this dance?"

he giggles like a little kid. "you sound like an old person."

you glare at him. "do you wanna dance or not?"

he grabs your hand and you both walk closer to the middle of the room. his hands are on your waist, yours on his broad shoulders, and you swear you could die like this as you sway to the sweet melody.

"so, you like me?" maki asks suddenly. "that's what that girl said, and the way you were looking at me..."

you contemplate how to answer. "well, yes. i thought you were really cute when i saw you and i hated that that bitch had her claws on you."

he blushes again, flustered. "you're really pretty yourself."

"yeah, love?" you smirk at him. "you like me too, don't you?"

he exhales sharply, not sure how to answer. "um... i think so."

"you think so?" you aren't satisfied with his answer. "you mean you don't know?"

"well... i wanna get to know you better," he says.

this satisfies you a bit. "you're so cute," you whisper, but he hears anyway.

"thank you," he says, not meeting your eyes.

you remove a hand from his shoulders to palm the side of his face and steer it back towards you. "look at me. i wanna see those pretty eyes of yours."

he blushes again, his doe eyes wide as he looks into your narrow, crimson orbs. they're beautiful to him, in a way.

he realizes your faces are getting closer together when you're only inches apart.

"can i kiss you?" you whisper as your lips ghost his.

he closes his eyes and connects his lips to yours. your arms wrap fully around his neck, pulling his body in closer, and his arms envelop your torso.

a few moments later, he pulls away with a gasp for air. "jesus. that was..."

"good?" you ask, tilting your head to feign innocence. your eyes narrow. "i've been told i'm a good kisser."

"how many people have you kissed?" he asks, seemingly upset.

you caress his face with one hand, reaching the other to snake around his waist and close the distance again. "the number doesn't matter. what's important is that none were ever as stunning as you."

you kiss him again, and this time he rests his hands on your hips, thumbs rubbing circles into the bare skin where there's a gap in the dress you're wearing.

this time, you pull away to let him get some air, but you stay close, resting your forehead against his. "i want to get to know you too, cutie."

he giggles against your lips. "well, what are you waiting for?"

He's super duper cute

As soon as he sees you, his eyes lighten up and he cannot help but smile so much

Whenever he says anything, he would look for your eyes to be sure you support him. And you always do, of course

But when he feels your eyes on him oh my god, he becomes so red and starts stumbling on his own words

The "he fell first but you fell harder" trope

Because yes, he's the first one to confess and yes, he's always looked at you with the greatest admiration and love written in his eyes

But you keep falling for him every day a bit more

He's the type to spoil you with gifts, mostly plushies and funny tshirts or cool hoodies

"Y/n, I got this for you"

"Maki, love, that's the third whale plushie you got me this month"

"Yes, but this one's pink"

Something like that

Does he cook for you? Absolutely no, he's a menace. So it would be you cooking for the two of you

Or you'd order take away which is always the easiest option

He'd love to "carry" the relationship sometimes, but usually he lets you do most of the work, while still actively participating in the things you want to do

For example, even if he wants to go to the arcade and you want to go to the movies, he's the type to avoid talking about his preference and just go with the flow

But some other times, he's the type to just softly ask you to organize the day for the two of you

And your dates would almost always be shopping dates where he gives you an insane amount of outfits arranged by himself to try on and then asks you to come out to comment on them

You and Maki were having your monthly sleep over, this time at your house, 'so the members don't bother me' he said when he arrived. Now the two of you are trying to sleep finally coming off the all time high, you both were on. Constant giggles echoed throughout the room, "Maki shush" you giggled causing Maki to giggle more.

"your giggling more than I am" Maki laughed, immediately you started denying "No Maki I think your delusional" You laughed, "Are you trying to gaslight me?!" Maki screamed laughing harder, "Is it working?" You giggled Maki shook his head no, "you can't admit to it if you want it to work!" Maki exclaimed, getting on his knees leaning over you and started tickling you.

Your loud laughter spilled into the hallways, in result your care giver came in and, asked you two to calm down, quiet giggles filled your dark room the moon hung high up, after a minute or two you and Maki finally calmed down, falling into a comfortable silence. "Maki! Look it's a full moon!" You exclaimed pointing at the moon, Maki quickly looked out the window "it reminds me of our first date" Maki said a blissful look taking over his face.

"That night was good luck all around, we saw a bunny, the first full moon of the month and, the first snow fall!" You giggled, Maki turned to you "Bunny's?" He questioned, "yeah bunny's, whenever you see a bunny it's a sign of good luck and good fortune" you smiled, Maki nodded "is that why you love bunny's so much?" Maki questioned leaning on your shoulder, in response you hummed and nodded.

You and Maki stayed in place looking out the window for a few minutes, "Can I kiss you?" Maki asked lifting his head from your shoulder, blush covered your cheeks as you nodded, after getting the go ahead Maki leaned in closing the distance between your lips, the kiss lingered there for a moment before he pulled away placing a small peck in the process.

You yawned laying back in Maki's arms falling into a deep slumber the last thing you heard was Maki mumble "I Love You".

"Why did you hit him so hard??" You throw your head back in laughter at the new game maki had just purchased. One of the enemies had punched you in the back which halfed your health bar, but a certajn little angry guy sacrificed his special just to one shot kill the enemy. "Because he attacked you!"

"Well, duh!" You exclaim. "He's supposed to do that, he was programmed to do that!" You slap the boys shoulder when he begins to imitate you, waving his pointer finger and squinting his eyes like a nerd. "Sorry~" he gives you his signature smile, his dimples popping out as you hold the urge to poke them. He unpauses the game, snapping you out of your trance.

"Maki!! Again? Those specials are rare!" You yell when he kills another enemy with one move since the enemy had punched you. "Why do you keep doing this??" You laugh.

"Because no ones supposed to hurt my teammate!"

"Their supposed to-"

"And because I love you!!" The room goes silent after maki randomly bursts out his affection towards you. His head drops as he plays with the drawstring of his sweatpants, his ears bright red. "..more than a friend.." he mumbles, a light pout on his lips.

"I.. like you too.." you say in a mere whisper, but maki's head shoots up. "Love.. you." You correct yourself, watching as a smile grows on the latters lips. "Oh?" He bites his lips to contain his grin, fidgeting with his sweatpants as he tries to calm himself down.

"Yeah.." you give a shy smile, though he refused to make eye contact with you. "Hey maki?"

"Yeah?" He finally looks at you, little hearts in his eyes.

"Thank you for saving me, I'll have to pay you back." You give a sweet smile, watching as maki begins to shake his head profoundly. "No, its fine, really, its just a game and-" his eyes go wide when you lean in, grasping his jaw as you press a soft kiss on his cheeks. His mouth opens to say something, but nothing comes.

"That was my payback."

you don't know exactly when you started liking maki. he had been your classmate for so long, yet you didn't even notice him until now.

as long as you can remember he has been holding the doors open just a little longer when you were walking besides him. he made you laugh at p.e. class when you had to play basketball against him, and he chuckled when you apologised for accidentally hitting him.

everytime you looked at his direction he was coincidentally looking at you too, and sometimes you could feel his stare when you were listening to the teacher.

none of that had done anything to you, it wasn't that significant until now.

suddenly, a switch had flipped inside of you and you find yourself happy that he holds the door open just a little longer when you are walking behind him.

his eyes follow you when you're near him, like you're someone important to him amongst the crowd of people. how could you not fall in love when he had been trying to get you to like him for 3 years now?

it was like fate had finally decided to put the two of you together when your math teacher decided that the class needed a seating plan.

at first, no one was happy. the only reason for the sudden plan was because your teacher couldn’t bare the chaos of having the class choose their own seats.

you walk into the classroom, gloomy, and your friends feel the same way. what were all of you supposed to do in math class without each other?

the teacher points out to the paper in front of him, the layout of the class printed on it, and names handwritten by himself.

your fingers trace the paper, searching for your name. fortunately, you’re somewhere in the back, so it wasn’t as bad as you had anticipated.

maki, who was standing next to you, looks up at you. you only realise why he’s looking when you see his name on the seat next to you.

you smile at him, hoping he couldn’t hear your heart beating so loudly. maki had known it all this time, that one day he would get the chance to get to know you.

“maki, why haven’t we had our first kiss yet?”

maki’s head shot up to the sound of whatever just came out of your mouth. “what do you mean?” “i mean like-“ you shifted yourself into a more comfortable position. “we are both 16 and still haven’t had our first kiss with anyone yet.”

“i guess so yeah, but i mean we are still 16, we have time to get our first kiss over with, you know?” maki responded as you slowly nodded your head. “i just want my first kiss or even first relationship to be the most special one.” you said.

“it just feels like nobody sees me in that way i guess?” you admitted to your best friend. “hey, don’t say that, i’m sure anyone will be lucky to be in a relationship with you y/n, you just have to find the right person.” “like me” maki thought in his head.

“what about you?” “what about me?” “how would you want your first kiss to go like?” you asked the boy, who had his head against the bed frame. “hm.. well i would just want my first kiss to go smoothly with someone ill give my entire heart to and trust.” you hummed at his response.

you fiddled with your fingers as maki tapped his fingers on the pillow that was sitting on his lap, you two sat in comfortable silence until maki spoke up, saying something you froze to.

“how about- we become each other’s first kisses?”

your eyes almost popped out of your eye sockets, looking at him in shocked. you always had some sort of feelings for your best friend, you always knew that. but i mean— who wouldn’t though? it’s maki.

“you want me to be your first kiss?” you asked him. “i mean.. yeahhh? as long as your comfortable with it then yes.” maki told you, maki wasn’t someone who you’d considered bold, but one thing about him was that when he took an interest to someone, he made sure to have that person be aware of it.

but of course, you being you, never realized that.

you slowly nodded as maki shifted to look at you more clearly. “you promise this won’t ruin anything we have now?” you asked him, putting out your pinky for a pinky promise. he took your pinky with his. “of course not.”

it took a couple of seconds before maki leaned in, pecking your lips before pulling away fast. you couldn’t even processed what was even going on as maki got flustered, his cheeks turning into a pink color. “that wasn’t even a kiss maki! it was a small peck!” you laughed.

“i know i know! i just.. got flustered knowing i’m kissing you.” he mumbled the last part, but you still heard it. “wh-“ maki suddenly leaned in, shutting you up and finally putting his lips on yours. you felt your heart pop out of your chest as you felt his soft lips on yours.

you both pulled away. this time it was your turn to be the flustered one, as both of your cheeks were covered in a pink shade, “was that okay for a first kiss?” maki asked you. “that was uh— that was amazing.”

there was a quick silence before you spoke up, “does this mean you like me?” you asked him as he chuckled. “was the kiss not obvious enough?” you both laughed as maki laid his head on your shoulder.

maybe it was a good idea to mention first kisses.
