Kinda feels like Kobayashi was having a bit too much fun by having Mako Shinkenger be the one with a turtle companion robot and dress up as a turtle, six years after she had Sailor Jupiter Makoto dress up as a turtle and hook up with a guy who's obsessed with turtles, and giving them both similar motivations.

Or maybe I'm just reading too far into it.

Shinkenger had something going on fr with all their girlies, Mako, Kotoha, Kaoru, and Dayuu, all having terrible complexes about not being chosen, not having a place, being incredibly repressed with all their issues and if any of them had a chance, any of them became unhinged, they would have lost any semblance of control, forever corrupted. Violence their only friend.

im rewatching shinkenger....again and one thing i really liked especially about the early episodes was mako and chiaki's big sis/younger brother relationship, especially the episode with his dad. i dont think they translated this relationship well(or at all) in PR Samurai, its a nice little bit of characterisation
