traditional cross-dressing on ukrainian malanka holiday. the woman is dressed as vasyl (folk adaptation of st. basil) and the man is dressed as malanka (folk adaptation of st. melania).

during this holiday, ukrainians honor the ancestral spirits and imitate them by dressing as animals and opposite genders, since it is believed that the otherworld blurs the line between male and female, as well as between man and beast.

I went as Death to Malanka. But actually its more annoying than this. I went as Morana to be more exact. As I see her.

So elements of my outfit was full of symbolism not only of death, but rebirth and transformation

Here are my pysanky, though they didnt survive the day 😅

But that's fine, i can use the shells as decoration for some painting and im gonna make new ones for Easter.

Next site, is going to be another Ukrainian festival. Malanka (Маланка). It's a festival that celebrates the old New Year according to the Julian calendar, so on January 13-14. It's a very ancient festival dating back to pagan times, & it's now a mixture of pagan & Christian elements. Here's a link with more info about Malanka.

It's been a while since I drew something Arcane Flames-related. I'm really glad to finally return to this project.

It's hard to say from the result but this piece was inspired by Malanka goat.

Пройшло досить немало часу з тих пір, як я малювала щось по Arcane Flames, я дуже рада, що нарешті повертаюсь до цього проекту.

По результату важко сказати, але на цей арт мене надихнув образ кози з Маланки.
