Hundred Islands x Bolinao x Manaoag

you know you are legit old when your friend's concept of a road trip is to visit Manaoag for a pilgrimage and lunch at a friend's rest house in Pampanga.

not that I am complaining. i mean I will make time for Mama Mary. I do love her. and I try my best to say the rosary everyday. kalurks, sa dami ba naman ng kasalanan at pagkukulang ko, eto minamahal pa din ako ng Diyos? ano ba naman yung tiisin yung init ng Pangasinan for a pilgrimage diba?

then we had lunch sa pampanga. again, signs of aging, kumakain na din kami ng durian lol. my friend, Del short for Rodelio inherited his parent's house and the adjacent manggahan. we are of the same age but man, this guy is 4x hardworking than I am. like he would be out there looking for opportunities to earn. biruan nga namin, kung me pera lang sa basura, papasukin nya yan eh (teka me pera ba sa basura talaga?)

so the convo shifted on me, much to my dismay.

Del: Oh Jopet, wag kang tanga sa lalake. kumuha ka ng bobo. yung mahirap. yan.

Me: ang racist mo naman. kaka pilgrimage lang naten.

Del: hindi mo gets. yung mga medyo mababa ang IQ mga inosente yan. pakisamahan mo, alagaan mo, mamahalin ka nyan. tignan mo ko yung lalake ko ngayon sya nagbabantay ng mango farm.

Me: (shakes head) hindi ko kaya, mother.

Del: Ayaw mo maniwala? (bites off from the durian and calls on the boyfriend"

Del: Asawa ko, mahal mo ko diba? kiss mo ko dali! (Del and the boyfriend smooched infront of us bewildered friends)

Jay: Power!!! mayora levels! Sige sarhento hubaddd!

Leo: lol gobernadora kamo, yung hacindierang mahilig manira ng pamilya hahahahaha

Cris: teka My Day ko to ha? lol

Me: speechless.

Del: O diba? walang palag? kaya nga banat ang mukha ko di nyo pansin? fresh diba? laging me dilig. Oh ano, madaming tropa yan dito, magsasaka tapos yung isa tanod. mga borta. pakilala ko kayo?

Me: bigyan mo nalang ako ng mangga, mother. samahan mo na din ng buro please?

iba iba klase ng strawberry, sagada orange daw 2 klase so binili ko pareho matamis naman nung tikman ko, pinipig na fresh, persimmons, libre yung wild berries, pomegranate, may baguio pure garlic longganisa din ako binili at vigan longganisa daw tas may binili din ako tinapa 2 uri ng isda yon basta yan ay sa Public Market ng Baguio tas sa Pangasinan naman kamote chips na yon talaga paborito ko pag napunta sa Manaoag crispy kasi talaga tska di masyado matamis tas tinapa na bangus, at padas. wala sa picture yung mga isda at longganisa kasi naka styrofoam na box ko para di masira tas nilagay ko din agad sa ref namin nitong pagkauwi ko.

Yung mga strawberry ang masasabi ko lang talaga ay yung Tumpok na halohalo may matamis may maasim pero swerte ko na lang kasi matamis nakain ko, tas yung Kingberry sakto lang yung tamis tas sya yung mas firm ang texture. yung Charlie naman matamis nga sya juicy at soft ang texture, tas yung ma White matamis na firm ang texture tas yung ma Pink matamis at soft naman.

2023 Achievements and Remarkable Memories!

January

- First beach trip with my best friend in Boracay and stayed at Discovery Shores 🤍

- First time in Tagaytay Highlands for business planning!

February

- Simple celebration with fam and relatives on the 65th bday of my dad!

- Went to Baguio twice in the same month! 😂

- Wedding Pamamanhikan to my sister in law

March

- Celebrated my 27th bday in our dream country with my best friend! Japan - Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto. In love with the cherry blossoms! 🌸 Enjoyyyeeed Harry Potter in USJ so much and was able to discover our fave (so far) ramen place in Osaka.

- Awarded a special award for hitting 2022 target. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend since I was in Japan.

- Had our first Karaoke session (me being dept head) with my CBLD fam as my advance bday celeb

- Swimming with Magno fam at Acop’s private pool after xxxx years of pandemic

- Celebrated Mama’s (my grandmother) 80th bday!

- Threw a bridal and groom’s shower for my Kuya and Sister in law! Magno cousins exclusive hehe

- Cut my hair super short! For the frist time 😂

- Lost our adopted dog, Ampi 😢

- My younger brother finally graduated in college. 🎓

- Back in Bohol even just for a short staycation. 🤍

- Adopted our newest furbaby, Yuki and survived Dengue for dogs 🥺

- HS best friend Ayeen got engaged 💍

- First time in Tacloban, Leyte and Samar!

- Reunited with my best friend after 8 months 🥺 last time we went out was during Japan trip

- First autumn 🍂🍁 Went back to Japan for the 2nd time with my best friend again 🥹 cant get enough with the beauty of Japan. Stayed in Mt. Fuji which was one of the best decisions we made! Enjoyed DisneySea.

December

- Went out with my CBLD team in the office. Went swimming for the first time after pandemic, got drunk with them and had various team lunch and dinner

2023 had been so much fun! Made me stronger and made me realize that both people and things are temporary. Cherish the moments and memories while they last. Thank you 2023!

Trip to Bolinao, Pangasinan

We were asked to choose between Baguio and Bolinao. Without searching where Bolinao, Pangasinan is, we answered, "Let's go to Bolinao.". We've never been there. The only place we frequent in Pangasinan is Our Lady of Manaoag.

We attended mass at Our Lady of Manaoag and then went to Bolinao. I checked the Waze App and was shocked to see that we still had to drive for 4 hours before we arrived at our hotel. Okay, so we chose Bolinao because we thought it was closer than Baguio. The jokes on us, it was way way farther.

But since we are here already, let's get going.

On our way, we passed by Doña Nora to have lunch. There was no other customer but us. They ordered and we waited for more than 30 minutes before our orders arrived. Take note, we are the only customers at that time. But, the food is worth the wait. We ordered a bit too much, but it's a good thing that we can have it for takeaway.

After a very long drive, we arrived at our hotel, Casa Almarenzo.

We just changed and went out again.

Our first stop was Enchanted Cave.

Enchanted Cave, Bolinao, Pangasinan

We arrived a little bit before 4 p.m. The Enchanted Cave closes at 5 p.m. We were not able to tour around the property and went directly to the cave. The cave was a mixture of salt water and fresh water. How is it possible? I don't know either. Before you enter, you will be given a life jacket and a hard hat. Life jacket, since the depth of water inside the cave is unpredictable. The hard hat is needed while you are entering the cave, especially if you are tall. It will really protect your head. The steps of the stairs are narrow and wet, so make sure to look where you are stepping. Remember, the hard hat will protect your head. You will surely bump your head once or twice. The water is cold and refreshing. But if there are too many people, I don't think the water would still be refreshing at all. haha!

On our way out, we bought some refreshments. The stalls close at 5 p.m. as well.

Our next stop, Patar, Beach.

We paid an entrance fee for this as well. You can rent a cottage or tables once you enter. I think the cottages can be rented for the whole day. You can bring a packed lunch, and you can cook also.

This beach is known for it's beautiful sunset. You can watch the sun as it goes down while listening to the laughter and chatter of people around you. It is very relaxing.

We went home after that and had a good rest.

Day 2 at Bolinao

I am so happy to witness the sunrise on our second day here in Bolinao.

I don't know how many photos and videos of sunsets and sunrises I have on my phone, but it is always so beautiful to watch. I will definitely wake up early just to witness this beauty.

It was low tide, so we decided to take a walk. We found different sea creatures we hadn't seen before.

Please make sure that you are wearing your aqua shoes or slippers if you decide to take a walk on the beach. There are sea urchins, and you may not notice them at first. Better safe than sorry.

For Day 2, we only have one place to go to since the travel from Bolinao to Manila is almost 7 hours.

We went to this beautiful waterfall.

There were three waterfalls but we chose this one.

You can rent a balsa, a boat made of kawayan, and the locals will accompany you to the falls. The water is so cold. Super cold. But it is magnificent. If only we could stay here a bit longer.

Our stay in Bolinao is very short. You may opt to stay here for 3 days and 2 nights. So that your long drive will be worth it. But overall, we don't regret coming to this place. It is very far from the city but it is definitely very relaxing.

Will I go back again? Of course, I will. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

First gala ko ulit kahapon. A thanksgiving. Looking back my past painful journey, I felt how God loved me. Di niya ako pinabayaan. Akala ko kaya ko na ako lang,pero hindi pala. Mas kaya ko pala kung kasama ko si God. Minsan nakakaguilty pag may time na nawawala ko siya sa buhay ko, sobrang mali. Kaya, nasabi ko sa sarili ko, once na kaya ko ng maglakad at kaya na rin ng time, dadalaw ako sa Manaoag Church. So ayun nga, nangyari lahat kahapon, binigyan pa ako ng mga kaibigan na umalalay sakin para mas komportable rin ako, kasama rin syempre ang aking baby, na nakisama rin kahapon, di masyadong naging alagain. 😁

Iba ka talaga, Lord. Sa lahat ng hinihiling ko, laging may pasobra. Kaya sana wag ka pong magsasawa sa akin. I love you, Papa Jesus. 😘
