Older Sunset has a dream where Elements of harmony guide her littleself and teach her the magic of friendship.

Actually mane 6 went to Sunset's dream on purpose. In the fan story that I've been working on Sunset was needed in Equestria. The moment she went there she started to have nightmares when she was sleeping. About her past, her mistakes. Everything like that. Since action of this story takes place after Friendship games with few changes Sunset is still not rlly emotionally stable. So she's struggling a lot being back where everything started. Later when she finally finds the rest of the ponies that were undercover she still has these bad dreams that are kinda haunting her. It's Equestrian magic that causes this. One night Luna talks about her condition with the mane 6. Twilight convinced the rest of mane squad to help Sunset without her knowing it because she was the only one who were actually Sunset's friend. So with Luna's help mane 6 went to Shimmer's dream. Showing her a thing or two. Spending time with hurt little Sunny with blank flank that lives deeply inside our main EqG heroine. Helping her accept who she once was. And still is deep down her.

MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC: FAME AND MISFORTUNE *OPINIONS*

A new episode written by M. A. Larson after almost 2 years of silence (last episode he co-wrote was ‘Rarity Investigates’ back in September 2015)!

Considering he wrote some of the best episodes from previous seasons, it was about time he came back into the MLP family!

Holy Celestia, and speaking of come backs, not only we had some old G3 ponies (Toola Roola and Cocunut Cream), but we finally see the Friendship Journal again! Last time we saw that was in ‘Twilight’s Kingdom - Part 1′.

BTW, how much time passed since that episode in the pony universe? I mean, judging by the state it was when Twilight showed it to Starlight at the very beginning, she either kept it in very poor conditions (in which case, shame on her) or a really lot of time passed between the end of Season 4 and (a little more than) the middle of Season 7.

Anyway, is it just me, or this whole episode seemed to be like some kind of social commentary on the actual state of the fandom? I mean, if you look on how the episode went on, it basically showed all the different kinds of groups and commentaries it goes on the net in the fandom (or in every fandom really): people disliking a character to its fullest, people liking a character to the point of idolizing it, people taking some episodes or things done by some character too much seriously, and so on.

Sure, the episode might also be seen as a sort of lesson about the fact that things that may have a meaning to someone may be completely misinterpreted by someone else or it can even have a totally different meaning to others, but I believe the social commentary theory is the closest to reality.

Quite frankly, I don’t know how to feel about this episode, maybe because even I happened to fall into some of those categories of people (or in this case, ponies) from time to time (overanalyzing things, not liking certain characters, looking at any little inconsistancy in the show....hell, I even pointed out the state the Friendship Journal was at the very beginning of this post ‘cause I wrote that part before watching the whole episode).

I believe, though, what we can all take from the episode, is that, no matter what, there’ll always be someone who will see the show and get the positve lessons it tries to  teach (in the case of the episode, with Toola Rooola and Cocunut Cream, which seemed to be the only ones to really appreciate the Friendship Journal and were positively inspired by it).

My Final Verdict: 7/10. The social commentary vibe the episode had might upset some people in the fandom, but, after a little thinking, I find it kinda clever, and that gives the episode what it needs to be better than a slightly over the average episode. Also, the song was really good, so that helped too.

Next Episode: A new episode starring Spike, but at least there will also be the return of both (Prince? King?) Thorax and Princess Ember, so that might help the episode to not completely suck (See? Still doing it, still judging an episode before it even aired....WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN???)

Ok but real talk, flash and timber were really unutilized by the team and is upsetting because they had such potential as characters!

Especially flash with his relationship with sunset, I'm so glad that eqg does remembers that they were dating and how they know each other extremely well BECAUSE of it. But...man he would have helped sunset's character more, because he knows what she is capable of when she's mad and he knows how to deal with her better than the mane7. Sure they're friends but when you're dating someone you do get to know them on a more personal level, Not saying it can't happen platonically, because it 100% can qpr are a thing after all, but flash just saw parts of sunset she probably didn't let other show. Also the mane7 are just so... either forgivable or petty with Sunset anger when my girl def has anger issues but also...that doesn't justifies her being a jerk??? Like idk they dealt so bad with sunset anger 😭. Not to mention how it was FLASH to break up with her, he knows his boundaries and he still insist to give her a second chance BECAUSE HE SAW THAT SHE CHANGED. and man if flash saw it (who was probably mistreated the most by sunset) then she really DID change!

Not to mention that I love sciset and all but...meh from a relationship stand point this platonic relationship is more powerful than sciset.

And fans don't want to know that because shipping is always more important than platonic relationship Which is low key arophobic

even if some may argue the mane 7 know more abt sunset now, flash was one of the only people who knew pre-eqg1 sunset WELL (clearly, judging by how he knows if something is bothering her), everyone else only saw a fragment and that includes the mane 7.

i don't like the argument that he's useless, i prefer the other argument that he genuinely had potential, the writers just didn't utilise it.

there are so many ways i could go about integrating those two into the show despite all the arguments people have. like if the issue really is smth silly like they're guys and this is a girls show, well then, make them more feminine? it's just. yeah. they could've done so much more or been so much more but it was barely until the end of the show where they got something.

would it be okay with y'all if i referenced the mane7 ( or the guys too ) with some idols ? for instance , pinkie:) there's an idol that kinda resembles her ( not gonna say who tho ) in a way or another . as for personalites and physical traits ( like hair and such ) will be completely based off of the characters we already know<3

i wanted to add this idea onto the au for fun and so you can kinda make up what they look like since , once again , it IS humanized .
