Inside Harry's (Old) House
As some of you know, in July 2016, Harry bought a unit in a condo in Tribeca. It was widely reported because a) people thought that meant he was moving to NYC, b) other high-profile celebrities lived in the building. In the end, Harry was never photographed around the place, and it was rented out for other people during most of the time he owned it (a loss for NYC harries).
He finally sold his condo (443 Greenwich St. #3J) in August 2021. The move didn't surprise me. It's a beautiful place, but far from private. Fortunately for Harry, he was able to sell it with a considerable profit ($290,906!).

Cement Contractors Near Me
Tumblr media
If you’re looking for a concrete contractor, get at least three in-person estimates. Pick contractors that have extensive experience, relevant concrete industry certifications and glowing client testimonials.
Residential concrete companies install and repair driveways, sidewalks, patios, porches and garage floors. They can also make decorative concrete. These companies can add tinted coloring, stamped patterns and unique designs to ordinary concrete.
Residential Concrete Companies
Residential concrete companies install new and repair old concrete in residential spaces. They can make concrete onsite using a bagged cement mix for smaller-scale projects, such as landings and walkways, or pour concrete from a truck for larger-scale jobs like foundations and slabs. They also have the expertise to choose the right concrete mix, to set up formwork and to follow proper curing methods.
Some concrete contractors offer decorative concrete services as well. They can stain concrete in earth tones or in vibrant colors, which can give your home a more unique look. These concrete contractors can also polish your existing concrete floors, install countertops in a kitchen or bathroom remodel and create backyard retaining walls and patios.
Find the best concrete company for your project by reviewing images of their work and asking questions. You should also verify that the company has the necessary insurance, licensing and certifications for your job. You can learn more about finding a qualified contractor on the BBB’s website.
Commercial Concrete Companies
Concrete contractors typically work on larger projects, including commercial and industrial buildings. They may also be involved in the construction and repair of concrete sidewalks, driveways, and road surfaces. A contractor may stay on a project through its entirety or subcontract a portion of the work to another party.
Many companies specialize in a specific type of concrete construction. For example, Suntec Concrete is one of the largest commercial concrete contractors, with a significant presence across the Southwest United States and offices in Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Texas. They describe themselves as a “full-service concrete construction company” that offers services such as preconstruction, concrete placement, pumping, foundation work, and facilities service.
A concrete contractor can also help rehabilitate existing concrete structures. A damaged section of concrete may need to be repaired using a process called concrete leveling, which involves drilling small holes into the top layer of the concrete and then injecting concrete to raise or lower it as needed.
Decorative Concrete Companies
Concrete is a very durable and economical material for floors, walls, patios & driveways. It can be formed into a wide variety of patterns and textures for aesthetic appeal or functional use. The surface can be stamped, etched, carved, grooved, drilled, scored, sandblasted or colored.
Residential concrete fabrication requires a lot of knowledge and experience. Knowing the right proportions of Portland cement, sand or aggregate and water for the specific project helps achieve a quality mix that is strong enough to handle the loads, allows for proper curing and drying without cracking and looks great when finished.
Decorative Concrete in Nyc provides cost effective alternatives to materials like wood, slate, granite, tile and marble. It is also much more durable against freezing and thawing, sand and salt damage, and is easier to maintain than many other types of flooring. Innovative options provide the design flexibility needed to satisfy performance goals while achieving your creative vision.
Concrete Repair Companies
Concrete is very durable, but it can crack, crumble or sink over time. Whether it’s caused by weather or poor construction, these problems need to be repaired quickly to keep the structure safe and prevent further damage.
There are many ways to repair concrete, and the best method depends on the severity of the cracks. For shallow, cosmetic cracks, a contractor can use filler or a skim coat to restore the concrete’s surface. This is usually a quicker and less expensive option than replacing the entire section of concrete.
A good concrete contractor will carefully evaluate the problem and choose a repair material that is right for the situation. Bagged concrete mix manufacturers like QUIKRETE offer repair products that are labeled for specific situations and designed with safety regulations in mind. Some products also include fibers or admixtures to improve strength and durability. These materials can help prevent chloride attack on the existing concrete and help the repair last longer.

How To Art Deco Interior Design
Tumblr media
Art deco interiors have geometric forms, sleek lines, and minimal clutter. In addition, art deco interiors have a distinct masculine feel to them due to the masculine nature of most geometric forms used in this style. Art deco interiors mainly use marble and stone textures as primary elements in these projects.
They also use woods such as oak and mahogany as accent elements in these projects. These elements give art deco interiors a richly textured look that complements the sleek geometric forms so well. Art deco is an explosion of artistic creativity, style, and form. This is because art deco designers combined several different styles into one project. They also incorporated textured materials such as silk, leather, wood, and marble into their designs. One of the best ways to do art deco interior design is to use neutral or light hues in your space. You should also choose warm tones such as red, orange, and gold for accent elements.
Art deco, or "Deco," is a modern style that originated in Paris during the 1920s.
The name "Deco" comes from the French term for design. This style is characterized by geometric shapes, straight lines, and minimal decoration. Art deco is one of the most popular interior designs today. This is because art deco is elegant, sleek, and modern at the same time. It's a perfect choice for home decorating projects.
Decoration ideas for art deco interior design are very innovative and sophisticated.
You can use this style to create modern and stylish interior spaces for your home or office. You can also choose from a variety of geometric forms, textures, and colors that will make your space look stunningly elegant and modern at the same time. One of the best things about art deco interior design is how it looks when applied to various spaces.
This style works well in offices, restaurants, and even churches! Churches that want to update their look without radically changing it can do so by applying art deco interior design principles to their architecture. This includes using natural materials such as wood and marble for decorative elements such as pews and balconies. They can also add geometric elements such as curved ceilings or walls made from glass windows with elegant tracery inside them. All of these ideas help make art deco interior design practical for any religious space.
Art deco is an exciting design style that anyone can use in their home or workplace with confidence.
It works well in most spaces and looks great with natural or manmade materials used in decoration. For inspiration, you can look at famous art deco interior designs such as the Chrysler Building or Guggenheim Museum in NYC!
Art Deco is characterized by geometric lines, curves, and textures.
One of the most famous art deco interior design examples is the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The interior design features curved walls, floors, and ceilings with geometric patterns. Art deco also uses lots of natural materials like wood and marble.
These materials look beautiful and give the space a warm feel. People also add decorative elements to art deco interiors, such as paintings, sculptures, and lighting fixtures. All of these elements come together to give the space a polished look that reflects the owner's personality.
Art deco is a popular interior design style because of its unique look and use of natural materials.
It is a creative way to decorate your home or office without using too many expensive materials. Many people choose this design for their homes because of the dramatic effects it has on the space. It is a fluid and dynamic style that appeals to many people.

Choose The Perfect Practices to Clean Vintage Office Interiors
Tumblr media
If you're privileged enough to be in charge of preserving and caring for an office with historic interiors, you'll need the finest office cleaning NYC has to offer. New York City, like other well-known important urban areas, has a variety of distinctive historic commercial buildings.
As they have seasoned and well-trained staff for committed work, professional local cleaning contractors such as SanMar Building Services are relied upon for their care. It's fascinating to note that historic buildings often house a slew of modern enhancements. Rich natural wood paneling, for instance, can be enhanced in terms of appearance by intense cleaning and revival practices.
This type of high-quality care will bring out the rich wood grain and highlight its distinct appearance. Additionally, microfiber dusting cloths are a significant benefit, particularly when used in combination with modern-day effective cleaning items.
Maintenance professionals, such as those at SanMar, use these resources to support your building and business. You'll undoubtedly find a complete revival of your office's historical aspects and general interior design. Both of these components can be preserved for future generations with routine maintenance.
Antique marble flooring also necessitates dedicated and professional maintenance. Even though it is one of the most challenging surfaces, it is pretty porous and can get damaged by regularly mopping. With time, the floors can start to appear discolored and can even look dirty all the time.
The most experienced office cleaning service providers, such as SanMar, utilize dedicated tools, compounds, and above all, the techniques to ensure that the marble floors in your office are kept in perfect condition. If cared for properly, these surfaces can even last for 100 years and more.
If your office sports slate or stone floors, they need specialized maintenance practices. Using regular detergents or soap can lead to the floors losing their appearance relatively quickly. Professional tools for maintaining floors are an advantage that only a top cleaning service can bring to the table.
Antique office interiors have a unique charm and can even be excellent conversation starters with your clients. Often floors are among the most easily noticed elements for any workspace and can play a significant part in the kind of impression that can be formed in people's minds about your company.
If they are cleaned up properly, most people are likely to notice and pay compliments. Grand lighting elements hanging from high ceilings are normally a part of an ancient structure. If properly maintained and polished regularly, their brightness and elegance can leave everyone stunned.
Washrooms with classic fixtures can be incredible and luxurious, too, if they are cared for properly. In some instances, they need to be maintained and cleaned even more than new-age ones to ensure that people can use them comfortably. Equally practical requirements are environmentally safe cleaning compounds that are a lot safer is the need of today's times.
To have a fresh and nice smelling space, comprehensive cleaning that disinfects every corner is needed. When you open a restroom door, one of the first things you recognize is the smell. People have a better first experience if the air smells good. Antique plumbing components are often huge and readily visible.
Because of their size, they need detailed cleaning and polishing on a regular basis to ensure that they look their best. Marble dividers and porcelain dispensers need special care to look their best. The prospect of a great-looking office exists, and with the right service provider, things would look fantastic.

Services No Longer Required
A/N: probably not the kind of smooch you thought you were gonna get with this one, but a smooch nonetheless! This is a one shot with no connection to any other Logan AU or fics I’ve posted. And it ran completely away with itself.
Warning: language, discussion of sexual assault
Word Count: 4,780 (oops)
Prompt: from @gollyderek
Tumblr media
You tried not to roll your eyes as you raised your glass to your lips. It was expensive champagne; you knew because you hated it. You could taste the pretension in the way it flaunted its dryness like no liquid should. Swallowing the whole flute in one go, you sucked air through your teeth to cleanse your palate of the cloying wealth. A server came by, skin tight dress painted onto her mathematically perfect proportions, and you plucked another glass from her tray, trading it with your empty one. The sudden fluctuation in weight distribution on the tray would have made the average attendant spill the remaining refreshments, but she adjusted beautifully. Of course she did.
“Are you enjoying your evening, miss?” the server blinked at you from behind lush lashes, her wide eyes bright, her plump lips open at just the right degree.
You peeled your eyes away from the display you’d been failing to avoid across the room, letting them land heavily on the smiling, overpriced piece of equipment in front of you. One manicured finger tapped against the glass you’d snatched as you considered how to answer her, Logan’s hand sliding slowly over the shoulder of the man whose ear he was whispering into catching the corner of your eye. Not at all, but my job requires me to be here so here the fuck I am. “Yeah, sweetheart, it’s a real blast.” You wondered if these fuckbots spoke sarcasm.
She smiled, her round cheeks shrinking her eyes as her lips drew up into a bow. Wonder if he designed this one. Picked out the tits or the mouth or… You didn’t want to think about what else Logan may or may not have requested on the particular model in front of you. “Well if there’s anything you need,” she gave a little giggle that matched the bubbles in the champagne.
This time you didn’t bother trying to hide your eyeroll. “Yeah. If there’s anything I need, doll, I’ll let you know.” She doesn’t speak sarcasm, but I’m fucking fluent. Her saccharine smile left a sour taste in your mouth. You took another sip of champagne to counter it as she flounced off, not a drop spilled as she swayed through the crowded ballroom, hips and ass trailing behind her, barely concealed beneath the shimmering white fabric. Who even falls for that shit anyway? A quick glance in either direction yielded at least seven pairs of eyes glued hungrily to her curves. You wanted to be surprised, but you’d shared a conference table with some of these men, and so you couldn’t be. Come on, Tom, you’re married for fuck’s sake.
You reluctantly returned your eyes to the far side of the palatial space, and were met with Logan’s, waiting for yours. His eyes were brown, you knew, the color of coffee without cream. But right now, his teeth flashing in a grin before clamping around the earlobe he’d just shared a secret with, they were coal black, embers flickering dangerously in their depths. Logan’s grin curved around the man’s flesh as he maintained eye contact with you. The recipient of the bite let his eyes roll closed and you felt your nostrils flare. Oh, come on Logan, really? You drained the contents of your glass and set it on a credenza as your heels clicked across the marble floor, finally unable to just sit back and watch.
.. .. .. .. .. .. ..
It had been almost six months to the day that you’d met Logan Delos. His family attorney had hired you to help “protect his image” after incriminating photos that hinted at a sex scandal were leaked to the press alongside damaging accusations that had been proven false, but still threatened to mar Logan’s- and by extension, Delos’- reputation. You thought you’d known what to expect when it came to Logan; in fact, you had even gone so far as to argue with your boss about taking him on as a client. But Delos Inc. and its subsidiaries had been using your firm for years.
“They’re one of our oldest and most important clients,” Cynthia, your boss had said in an even tone from behind her coffee mug. “And you’re one of the best we’ve got now.” She looked at you, the power in her green eyes magnified by the black rimmed glasses that were perched high on her nose. You let out a miniscule breath and clenched your jaw. You’d just received a promotion that came with a substantial raise due to the work you’d done on the last case you’d been assigned to- a pop star coming back to a wavering fan base after a stint in rehab- and you knew that Cynthia assigning you to the Delos account meant that she was reinforcing her faith in your ability to represent her firm. “This is the sort of thing you’re going to be handling now,” she told you seriously. “Playboys and pill poppers in the public eye with too much money and a penchant for extraordinary mistakes. That something you can handle?” She set her coffee down on the polished mahogany desk between you, observing every little tick and twitch in the muscles of your cheeks and lips. She’d always been good at reading people, you knew, which was why she’d been able to climb as high as she had in her profession.
You knew it was fruitless to try to hide what you were thinking. You shook your head, resigned to the fact that you’d have to take on the case. “Cyn, just tell me if you think he’s guilty before I get into this, okay? I know what the court verdict was but… what do you think?”
Cynthia flattened her hands on the desk and tilted her head. “I’d never send you into a lie, you know that.” You nodded. Yeah, I know, just… “And I have personally worked with Logan Delos in the past, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is no way that he is guilty. He takes his work and his career and his company far too seriously to ever jeopardize it. Is he a sharp tongued asshole who loves to flirt and dives headfirst into excess? Absolutely, so you’ll have your hands full. But under all that…” she looked for a more professional term but came up short, rolling her eyes. “Under all that bullshit, he’s a decent man. Smart, too.” She sighed. “Actually one of the few that I like to work with, because he values a professional opinion.”
“Alright, Cyn,” you smoothed your hair back. Guess this is happening. “When do I leave?”
“Tomorrow morning. You’re on the 9am to Los Angeles.” Cynthia slid a packet of information across the desk to you, your travel itinerary on top. “It’s a six month assignment, so we rented out an apartment for you.” Six months? Damn. The longest assignment you’d had prior to this one had been half that time, and you’d been able to stay in NYC for most of it, only travelling with your client when necessary. You flipped through the file as Cynthia continued speaking. “Because of the circumstances, you’ll have a temporary office within the Delos Inc. building. You’ll be working closely with Mr. Delos and several other entities, and you will be expected to attend all public appearances and events.” Working closely with Mr. Delos? You looked up from the information then, hands frozen midway through flipping the page. Usually you worked behind the scenes, putting out fires before they had a chance to spark. Actually attending events and getting that much face time with your clients was something completely new for you. You recovered, looking back down at the file in your hand, eyes scanning the printed packet and going wide when they landed on the keywords: sexual indiscretion, abuse of power, sexual assault.
It’s not true. You reminded yourself. The accuser was found to be lying, and the whole situation had been fabricated or spun grossly out of control; some assistant claiming that Logan had forced himself on her, holding her career over her head in exchange for sexual favors. You flipped another page in the packet and landed on a profile of Logan’s past relationships- a model, an actor, an heiress, another model, a member of the Russian ballet- none of them were Delos employees. Even without having met him, you knew that the accusation didn't fit his M.O.
Another flip of the pages in your hand uncovered photos that made your breath catch slightly. Oh, damn. Yeah this isn’t a man that has to force himself on...anyone. They were tabloid shots, one of Logan getting out of a gleaming black limo, long legs in perfectly tailored dress pants, one hand in the pocket of his jacket, arm bent at an angle that showed off his trim figure. His nutty brown eyes were warm above the blinding smile he wore, and even though it was just a photo you could tell that he moved with confidence from the stance that he took. The second photo was taken in a restaurant, Logan’s long fingers wrapped around a glass that he was using to gesture with. He was speaking animatedly about something to two men and a woman, his eyebrows raised and his mouth open. All three at the table with him were Delos employees according to the notes that were paperclipped to the photo page, and the female intern pictured was the one who had launched the accusations. The two men present had been called on to share their side of the story, both of them making it clear that they had not witnessed any inappropriate behavior at that dinner or at any other time. Your eyes went back to Logan, to the magnetic way that he drew the attention of those around him. Again, it was just a photo, but you could feel his energy coming through the page in the way that he so comfortably carried himself.
You looked up at Cynthia and found her studying your reactions to the photos. “As you can see, he’s quite the catch.” You cursed yourself for the color you felt rising to your cheeks. “And combined with his net worth, you can see why someone would get the idea into their head that he could be threatened for not giving them what they wanted.” You glanced back down at the pictures, and felt a twinge of sympathy for the overwhelmingly attractive young man in them. “The accusations were dismissed, and the intern has been fired and is being sued for defamation of character, but the connotations of a situation like this stick. Delos is concerned that the public memory of this incident will be that Logan can’t be trusted with female employees.” Cynthia rolled her eyes once more. “No one’s worried about his male employees apparently. Sexist fucking country we live in.” You let out a small laugh. From the list of relationships you’d reviewed, it was clear that Logan spent just as much time with men as he did with women. “So, part of the reason why you will be working so closely with him, is to improve that public memory. Of course you’ll offer advice about how he should behave for the next few months to shake this story, tell him to tone down the flirting and all that. But the other benefit is that you’ll prove that Logan Delos can work with a woman without making an advance on her.”
“Well, since I’m not on billboards or runways I’m not really his type, so that should be no problem.” You closed the information packet and set it on the desk. “Thanks for trusting me with this one, Cyn. I won’t let you down.”
“I know you won’t. And we’ll have weekly conferences so you can let me know what’s going on. I’m always available if you need advice, but,” she stood and you did the same. “I have no doubts that you can handle this one like a pro.” She’d walked you out of her office then, and the next morning your bags were packed and you were boarding a flight out of the cold and into the sunshine.
The first meeting with Logan confirmed what you’d read in those photos- his confidence was off the charts. He was entirely comfortable in any setting, because he was entirely comfortable in his own skin. He knew who he was and he made no apologies for it. He was equally as proud of his business dealings as he was of his three months of sobriety from heroin and painkillers, and as eager to leave the mess of this situation behind him as he seemed to be to show you around the building. At the end of the tour he’d shown you to your office, just two doors down from his own. You thanked him, and set your things down, starting to settle in. You thought he’d left, but when you turned back around he was still standing in the doorway, an almost tentative look crossing his handsome features. That’s different.
“Can I talk to you for a minute? About all this…” he gestured to the briefcase you’d opened on the desk.
You nodded, holding a hand out to indicate that he should go on. “Sure Mr. Delos-”
“You can call me Logan, it’s fine,” he waved you off, pulling the door closed behind him. You made sure to keep the desk between you, as even though the door was shut, the large window allowed anyone passing through the hall to peek in, and you didn’t want any of them getting any ideas about what was going on.
You nodded again. “Okay, Logan. Look, if you’re worried about my qualifications, I can assure you that-”
He cut you off again by holding up one hand, pointer finger extended. “No, that’s not… Delos has been using your firm forever. I trust Cynthia, so I trust you. I’m sure we’re gonna butt heads, but I know you’re gonna do a great job with this fucking mess.”
You cleared your throat as he kept his eyes on you. “Well, I’m glad to hear that Mr. Del- Logan.”
He took a step closer, and that tentative look was still there. When he spoke again, his voice was quieter and you were struck by the seriousness in his eyes. “I want you to know that none of it was true. I didn’t...I’d never do what she said I did.” I know… You had been skeptical only for a few minutes, before Cynthia put your doubts to rest, before you read through the packet, before you met the man in front of you. “This company means...everything to me, so I’d never do anything that would…” he shook his head, a piece of hair falling loose. He swiped it back and out of his eyes. “But more than that, I’d never use my position to manipulate someone… I’ve been on the other end of that...I respect my employees. And I’d never do anything like that to someone I respect...Hell I’d never do anything like that to anyone, respect or not.” He blinked, but you could see how much he wanted you to believe him in those dark chocolate eyes. “Look, I’ve… I’ve been with people who I’ve worked with before, but only after they’d left the company or after their services ended. I’m...careful about it…” he let out a derisive laugh. “Even if that’s the only thing I’m careful about.”
He was showing you a small crack in the confident facade with this honesty, and even though you suspected that he was right- you’d likely butt heads plenty of times over the next few months as you helped him repair the public opinion of him- you found yourself growing angry that someone would throw such damaging lies at someone as honest and sincere as Logan. You gave him a small smile that you hoped was reassuring. “I know, Logan. I believe you fully. It’s despicable, the lengths some people are willing to go to for a little attention. I truly am sorry that this happened to you, and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure that it’s entirely behind you.”
He nodded, hands in his pockets. “Good. Well, I’ll let you get settled. You know where my office is if you need anything.”
You thanked him, and he left the door to your office open as he left, turning down the hall to go to his own office, double the size of yours as it should be. He’s intense… this is going to be quite the assignment… You blew air out through your lips as you sunk into your desk chair, wasting no time in getting to work on a blueprint for this project: Cut back on the flirting in public, show up to any and all press releases to show that he’s more invested in the business than the business interns, strong emphasis on giving back to the community, large donations to foundations that support equality in the workplace, etc.
The six months had passed much more quickly than you would have guessed. The first fundraising event that you’d attended had left you feeling like Cinderella at the ball… combined with a little bit of fairy godmother as you reminded Logan not to get too physical with his date for the event, and that he should make a speech to draw attention to the cause that was being supported. He’d groaned and called you a buzzkill, but he’d done what you’d asked, and that had pretty much set the tone for every interaction. “You’re no fun,” was a commonly used phrase, and he’d taken to introducing you to certain people as his “own personal killjoy”. You rolled your eyes and played along, but you knew that he appreciated the work that you were doing, because he heeded your every suggestion. Your private meetings with him had become less and less daunting as time went on and the two of you got to know one another, allowing for less walking on eggshells and more nitty gritty facts, eventually causing Logan to eye you suspiciously from across your desk one afternoon, and say “Ya know, I think you know more about my personal life than anyone I’ve ever dated.”
You swallowed the coffee you’d just sipped and stared at him. Despite the sometimes cocky way he’d behaved, and the seemingly unquenchable sex drive, you had to admit that you liked Logan. As a person. He happened to be the most physically appealing person you’d ever laid eyes on, but you were learning things about him that you liked, too. “It’s my job to know these things, Logan.” But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t also enjoy it.
“It won’t be your job forever,” he pointed out. “You gonna just forget all that stuff when you leave? File it away in some cabinet somewhere until I make my next big mistake?” There was a mischievous spark in his eye as he asked.
Couldn’t forget you if I wanted to and you know it. You shook your head. “Still have a few weeks here.”
“Too bad,” he muttered, and you couldn’t tell what he meant- too bad that you were leaving soon? Too bad that you’d have to move on to another client? Too bad that you were still an employee and therefore off limits? Don’t be stupid, he can’t be interested in you when he’s got runway models on speed dial.
You cleared your throat. Change the subject. “Let’s talk about the Delos anniversary party. It’s coming up, and it’s the last event I’ll be on for. I’ve outlined some points that I think are important to stick to…” You watched the twitch of his lips as you brought it back to business. Is that...disappointment?
.. .. .. .. .. .. ..
When it was finally time for the anniversary gala, the unofficial end to your contract with Delos Inc. and your time with Logan, you’d felt tense in a way you’d never felt at the end of an assignment before. Everything had gone perfectly, and Cynthia was more than pleased with the updates that you’d been giving her. But the last week leading up to the gala had been the most contentious with Logan. You’d reminded him that he shouldn’t worry about who to bring, that he should focus on celebrating the Delos brand and the success that the company has enjoyed, to which he replied that he wanted you to be his date.
“Logan. That would destroy everything we’ve been working on this whole time.” Is he fucking serious?
“Would just be nice to take someone to one of these things that actually knew me, that gave a fuck about more than my money.” He shrugged. “Can’t tell me you’re not interested.”
Son of a bitch. “Logan.” Of course I’m interested but that would ruin everything for both of us. “Come on, don’t be ridiculous.”
He narrowed his eyes and pressed his lips together. “No. Wouldn’t want to be ridiculous. Alright then, I’ll see you at the party. You can take one of the Hosts as your date if you want.” Hitting the “want” with a little more aggression than necessary, he turned on his heel and exited your office then, leaving you speechless and confused. What the fuck was that about?
For the most part, he’d stuck to the plan for the party. He’d chosen a tried and true date- a model named Raife that he’d been seen with plenty of times and who had never tried to exploit him or use him or do or say anything damaging. He’d made the speech that you’d written, he’d shook all the right hands and refrained from drinking too heavily. He hadn’t occupied the same square foot as you the entire evening, though you’d felt his eyes on you plenty of times, and they seemed pleased that you hadn’t come with anyone- even more pleased at your seeming distaste for the perfection of the Hosts that were present. All in all, he’d been behaving perfectly all night. But now that the party was winding down, getting into its final hour, he seemed hell-bent on raising a red flag. The intimate way he was interacting with Raife finally got your attention, and you’d seen him grin as you set your empty glass down on your way across the room.
You cleared your throat as you came to stand before him, arms crossed over your chest. “Logan, can I have a word with you?”
He remained seated, one arm draped over Raife’s shoulder. Instead of answering you, he nudged his date and turned to him. “See? What’d I tell you? She’s here to yell at me.” He looked up at you, shit eating grin on his face. “Go ahead, then.”
“A private word, please, Logan?” You arched one eyebrow to show that you meant business.
“I am in trouble,” he joked to Raife, who matched Logan’s smile with one of his own. Despite the teasing and the hard time he was obviously trying to give you, Logan stood and followed you out a nearby door into the empty hallway. A clock on the wall showed that it was just minutes to midnight and the end of the event.
“Logan, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” You asked, thoroughly annoyed with him for how he’d been acting ever since you told him that you couldn’t be his date a few days prior. “You’re just throwing everything we worked on away? Why?”
“So it worked?” His eyes flicked up to the clock and then back to you as a smirk grew on his face.
You sighed, utterly exasperated. You liked Logan. You’d come to think of him more as a friend than a client, learning about him, learning how to deal with him- how to deal with him when he was being a shit like he was now. But you also liked Logan, and because of that, you couldn’t wait for this job to be over, to be back in New York and far away from the thing you wanted most but couldn’t have. “What are you talking about? What worked?”
He watched the second hand tick up towards the twelve on the clock before taking a step towards you. “You’re jealous.” He licked his bottom lip, running his tongue along it.
“Jealous? Logan, what-”
Another step. “Raife knows I just needed someone for the night, you know. And technically,” the clock chimed midnight as he pointed to it, eyes firmly on you. “Technically, your services are no longer required here. You don’t work for me or with me or…”
“Logan. You can’t just…” you shook your head. Is he serious? He wanted my attention? Because he… “Logan, we can’t.” I want to, though.
He took one more step until there were only inches between you. He was careful not to touch you, but you felt your skin tingle at the thought that he was close enough to. “Why not?” he asked softly, softer than you’d heard him speak for the entire six months, much softer than the tone he’d taken with you in the past few days. “Why can’t we… I like you...you...you know me…”
I do know you, Logan, I know you too well. “Logan…”
He stood straight and put on his boardroom face, speaking your name in an authoritative tone. “Your services at Delos are no longer required.” He held the face for a few seconds, then let his smirk slide back across his lips. “And as such, I’d like to take you out.”
You swallowed, head spinning. What would Cynthia say? Is this even happening? I can’t, he’s...I mean, he’s...goddamnit. “Logan, I… my career, I… I can’t see my clients, I-”
“I’m not your client anymore. And I don’t plan to need your company’s services ever again...As boring as the last six months have been,” you rolled your eyes and so did he and despite yourself you felt a grin forming. “I’ve learned a lot from you...not just about how to save face, but about how I deserve to be treated and talked to and…”
“You deserve respect, Logan, and happiness and-”
“Then come out with me. Please. No one’s ever treated me like you have and...you didn’t just do what the job required, you bothered to get to know me. You gave a shit about me and not just the bottom line. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think you were gorgeous.” He dropped his voice. “And I never lie.”
“Logan, you don’t know how much I want to say yes, it’s just-”
“Then say yes. We don’t have to go out right away, you can go back to New York and then I can-” he shook his head. “I don’t know, I’ll come out there in a few weeks and it won’t be connected to work at all. Just...just say yes.”
You thought it through as much as you could with two glasses of champagne and Logan’s intense stare swirling through your brain. If we wait a while...if I go back home first… if I’m no longer connected to him for work… fuck it. He was over the top and loud and unapologetic. He was magnetic and attractive and you were just as enamoured by his personality as you were by his smile and his eyes. You liked Logan Delos, more than you thought possible when you first heard that you’d be working with him, and he was standing before you telling you the exact same thing. “Yes, Logan.”
His mouth dropped open but he snapped it shut, eyes warming and smile growing. “Yes?”
You laughed and nodded. “Yes. I’ll go out with you. In two weeks. In New York. And Logan?”
“Yeah?” His smile changed the tone of his voice with how genuine it was.
“I never want to work for you again.”
He laughed then, checking both sides of the hall before taking your hand and bringing it to his lips. They lingered on your knuckles and you felt warmth spread from your hand, up your arm and throughout your chest. It was the most chaste kiss he’d ever given anyone, but the way he kept his eyes locked on yours as he let his teeth graze your skin told you that he was capable of much more. “Deal,” he promised as he pulled away, fingertips brushing your palm before letting go of your hand.

“Do you have a way to get home?” his voice cuts through the storm swiftly, causing a shiver to tread down your back. You turn to the villain, watching as he peers out of his front doors to where you stand. Is he actually concerned?
You realize he may be right questioning if you have a ride or not. You check your phone, staring at the time. The train back to your side of town would probably not be at the station for another half hour, and you weren’t too keen on sitting in a subway at the devil’s hour. You shrug, looking back to the downpour.
“If the subway counts, yes,” you say, mentally preparing yourself of having to traverse in the downpour once again. Loki’s mouth drops into a frown and you swear for a second you see a look of worry being directed your way before you blink it away. Loki’s face looks to be contemplating something as he skims your figure with his eyes.
Oh my god, this man needs to stop looking at me like that, you think, your face feeling hot all of a sudden.
“Is anyone able to pick you up?” Loki asks, and you’re stunned into silence for a split second, shocked that he’s actually looking out for your wellbeing. You shake yourself from those thoughts, instead, shooting a glance to your phone before shaking your head.
“My roommate doesn’t have a car,” you respond, the awkwardness of the conversation seeping into your skin, your nerves standing on end. You watch as Loki’s face contorts into a look of frustration before waving at you to follow him back inside. You don’t move.
“Come on, love; you’re going to get hypothermia out there,” Loki grumbles, his eyes rolling. You only stare at the villain, watching cautiously at his next actions.
He could kill me. Or sell me. Maybe he wants to enslave me.
“I swear that no harm will be done to you, now please come inside. You’re messing up my doormat.” Loki raises his hands up, palms facing outwards as if to show you that he’s not holding anything that can do any harm. You glance him over again warily before taking a small step back inside the enormous house. How does someone even get a house this big in New York?
The chill inside of the house does little to soothe your shiver and your skin seems to ripple at the feeling of his eyes over you. He turns away abruptly, walking quickly to a hallway, forcing you to jog to catch up to his long legs. The darkness creeps over your legs and up your spine as you disappear into the hallway, your only savior being the occasional moonlight that pierces through the windows, warped and distorted by water droplets.
Loki pushes open a door, the black wood gliding silently across the marble floors. He rummages around in a dimly lit room before peeking around the doorframe to peer at you.
“These should fit,” Loki says, his arm outstretched, offering you what seems to be a folded pair of sweats. You only stare at his hand before he sighs, rolling his eyes. “Killed by sweatpants, what a dramatic way to go.” You grumble lightly before taking the clothing from his hands. “Bathroom’s right there. Once you’ve changed, walk down this hallway. You’ll see the garage.” Loki’s tone gives you the obvious sign that whatever he says is final before he whips back around, stalking down the hallway.
You peer after the man for a moment, watching his features blend and contrast the darkness surrounding him.
Nice ass.
You sigh as you pull on the sweats, the fabric being surprisingly warm and soft. They’re quite a bit larger than your frame, and you have the slight suspicion that these might belong to Loki, but you don’t really care. You inhale deeply, catching a whiff of something rather desirable before looking at yourself in the mirror. You almost scream at the sight. The makeup you’d put on at the beginning of your day was running down your cheeks, your nose bright red. Your hair is in wet columns, almost plastered to your head. To cut things short, you look like a wet dog.
You can’t seem to muster up the capability to care about your appearance, instead just using a spare towel to run through your hair. The least you could do for Loki was give these sweats back after you’re done using them. Maybe; he’s still a villain.
You pull the bathroom door open, surprised to find the hallways being lit with warm lighting, an orange glow cast on the marble floor. You almost feel comfort at the change.
Your eyes bulge out of their sockets at the sight of the garage; cars are lined up, all sleek and polished and black. The variety of luxury cars oozes wealth and a small feeling of envy aches in your stomach as you scan through the vehicles.
“Liking the view?” a voice asks from behind you, and you yelp, turning on your heels to face whoever decided it would be a good idea to sneak up on you. Loki’s amused grin meets your eyes and you practically sigh in relief.
I need to stop feeling so comfortable around him; he’s literally the worst person in New York right now, you think. But, he’s been good to me so far.
“So, take your pick,” Loki says, and your eyes widen, looking back to the vast array of cars.
“You must have a very miserable life,” you mumble, half hoping Loki can hear you. If he does, he doesn’t make any snarky comment in response. You walk cautiously through the cars, refraining from reaching out and touching the shiny and gorgeous vehicles. One near the end of the line catches your eye and your brows furrow. “You have a third-generation impala,” you say dumbly.
“Yes; is that a surprise?” Loki asks, cocking an eyebrow of his own up. You turn back to the car, shaking your head softly.
“I guess not. Just doesn’t seem your style.” You shrug.
“How do you know the model?” Loki’s voice holds curiosity and your lips pick up into a slight smile, no animosity or harshness directed in your gaze to Loki. He wants to shiver at the sight.
“My dad used to have one, just like this, except it was an ugly blue. It was a pretty car, but a beast to work on. There’s not a lot of black ones around.” Loki senses a small bit of sensitivity in your tone and studies you, watching and picking apart your movements carefully as you walk around the car. You let out a low whistle. “Not a single scratch or dent. I’m impressed; she’s gorgeous. Can we do this one?” you ask, and the hope that sparks in your eyes gives Loki an odd feeling. He rolls his eyes.
“Your wish is my command, princess,” he mocks, and you stick out a tongue. If he was going to act childish, then so were you.
Loki and you sat in comfortable silence, music playing softly in the background to alleviate tension. Your window was rolled down, your hands curling around the wind and rain as Loki blew past streets, the impala screeching and grumbling with life.
“Why are you not like a villain?” you question absentmindedly, not even realizing the words had slipped from your mouth until the damage is done. Loki gives you a side glance, probably confused on what you meant. You go to open your mouth again before Loki cuts you off.
“What do you define as a villain, fierce one?” Loki asks, and you pause. Your eyes sweep over the curve of Loki’s nose and facial structure, thinking about the question.
He seemed to have a point with the question. Your classic definition of a villain is the one you see in every new blockbuster playing on the big screen. A creepy person, usually rich, but with little to no morals and respect for others. Someone who’s constantly creating chaos and a trail of destruction. But as you glance in the side-view mirror, you only see headlights staring back at you, no trail of destruction in sight.
“Someone who takes advantage of others for their own personal intentions on a large scale. Someone who does the opposite of good.”
“And what do you define as good?” Loki’s voice is smooth and calm, knowing he has you ensnared in a trap of thorns, snagging on your being. Your aura flickers.
“Honesty, patience, selflessness. Lawful,” you murmur, watching as Loki’s eyes flicker with a brighter shade of green, something swirling in his irises. His hand on the wheel grips the black steering wheel a little tighter.
“If you define a villain as one who takes advantage of others in a selfish manner, you’re describing all individuals who live on your pathetic planet. If you describe good as being lawful, then being a villain and being good is not mutually exclusive,” Loki mentions, and your mouth falls open, your throat drying up. “Do you know what I did to earn my position as New York’s most feared man?”
The question makes you hesitate, your mind swirling as you try to remember. You remember the invasion and the panic that shot through your nerves whenever you felt the ground tremble and moan beneath your feet. You can recall the smoke and dust that had filtered into your lungs, making you cough and gag.
“The invasion,” you whisper. The wince on Loki’s face as the words filter from your mouth makes you frown. “It killed seventy-four people.”
“Do you know why I did such a thing?” You only look at the god. His jaw is clenched tighter than it was a few moments ago, his knuckles whiter than before. “Do you know what my selfish intentions were?” Loki turns his head, his icy eyes bleeding into your soul. Your stomach lurches.
“No,” you mumble, a mix of fear and intrigue gripping your heart. Your voice is barely louder than the rumble of the car, but Loki hears it.
“Well, it would serve you best to figure that out,” Loki says with a sense of finality. You hadn’t even noticed the car had stopped outside of your apartment building, rain drizzling down the windows. You clear your throat, gathering your belongings in your arms.
“Thank you; for the ride and the clothes,” you say, giving the villain a smile as you stumble from the vehicle, the door still propped open. A small one, but genuine. Loki returns the gesture with an amused smirk of his own.
“Anything for a fan,” Loki teases, his eyes dancing with amusement. You scoff, slamming the door behind you. You stalk towards the apartment, ignoring the sound of the Impala screeching off into the night of New York City, the streetlamps flickering. The time on your phone makes you groan, reflecting the night you had endured.
The key jiggles in the lock, your door creaking as you push it open. The stuffy smell of candles burn your nostrils and you cough, the smell reaching the back of your throat. You wave your hand in front of your nose, swatting away the overbearing scent.
“B?” you call out, blowing out candles as you walk through the apartment. Your roommate makes no move to respond, prompting you to peer into her room. You sigh, B asleep and draped over her bed, snoring softly as papers surround her. You figured B had a rough night at her nursing residency based on the empty wine glass sitting on her bedside. You tread through her piles of clothes that are scattered throughout the room, blowing out candles and flicking off a few lamps. You grab a blanket and drape it over her sleeping form.
You throw your phone onto your bed, following it soon after. You couldn’t call in sick to work, your boss would assume you had failed and try to figure out any way to get rid of you. You grumble at the thought of having to wake up in a few short hours just to stumble into your boss’ evil lair and be ridiculed.
Your hope of drifting off into a short yet peaceful slumber is interrupted by thoughts of the one thing – or person – you shouldn’t be thinking about. Loki’s words ring throughout your body, thrumming with something you couldn’t decipher yet. Although you had just met and mingled with the most dangerous person in New York City, you felt oddly successful. You had managed to contact Danny’s wish and had somehow convinced him to actually meet Danny, even if minimal plans were made. Although, you had gotten the video out of it.
Your thoughts were ripped back to the file back at the Avenger’s tower. It had all of Loki’s information, transcripts of interviews and interrogations, a mugshot that was far too attractive, and his address. The Avengers has his address. Your stomach churned. You had always believed that the Avengers and Loki were playing a game of tiptoe, just waiting for Loki to strike at the Avengers or vice versa. News stations and the media portrayed Loki as the most dangerous man in New York City, so why did the Avengers allow him to live smack dab in the middle of it with a luxurious mansion that didn’t necessarily scream “hey, a terrifying villain lives here!”? It wasn’t like the Avengers were incapable of taking down Loki.
Thoughts of the Avengers and Loki were still swirling in your head as you stumbled into your boss’ office, entangled with worries and stress about Danny. You plaster on a tight smile for your boss, Greg, as he swivels around in his too-creaky rolling chair. You cringe at the sight of his office for a moment, a smell that oddly resembled rotten Chinese takeout making your eyes water. Papers are stacked everywhere. For a charity organization, you’d think that they’d have higher standards for places of work - or employees at that matter.
“Ah,” Greg’s eyes light up in recognition or annoyance, you can’t really tell. “New employee, finally gave up on that one project?” A more genuine smile of satisfaction pulls on the corner of your lips.
“No, I actually happened to get in contact with Loki last night,” you say, watching as your boss’ eyebrows draw together in confusion.
“That’s impossible. You’re lying,” Greg sneers, a pepper flake becoming apparent on his front tooth. You dig your phone out, unlocking the device to pull up a video.
“I thought you may say that,” you hum, handing him your phone. Your smile grows wider as he plays the video, his eyes widening.
“Why do I have to do this?” Loki’s disgusted voice sounds through the speaker.
“Because, I need proof,” you hissed, knowing at that moment, Loki had rolled his eyes to the camera.
“That’s stupid.”
“Put yourself in my shoes-”
“Tragic.”
“-If you walked into my work and said that you had met the most feared person in New York City, would people believe you?”
“No, I’m the god of lies.”
“Ugh, whatever, just say it,” you grumbled.
“Fine, you really are a stubborn one, aren’t you? Anyways, evening Greg, I am here with your annoying employee to confirm that I will be working with her for the duration of this Wish. There, am I done?”
Greg’s face falls, his eyes wide and jaw slack. A hint of pink dusts your cheeks at the embarrassment of watching you and the most dangerous person in New York City interact with each other, but a smile covers it up. His eyes flick from you to the phone that’s being held with an iron grip. You almost missed the tremble in his hand.
“This is fake.” You hear the hesitation in Greg’s voice, hinting that he doesn’t entirely believe himself.
“No, it’s not. If you would like to call him, I can just grab his number right now-”
“No, no! That won’t be necessary,” Greg yelps, panic alight in his eyes. He practically tosses your phone back to you, nervous laughter bubbling past his lips. For the slightest moment, you think Loki may have found this rather funny.
What the fuck? I need to stop acting like I’m buddies with Loki, dear god.
“That’s all, go do,” Greg trails off, seemingly stumped on what to tell you to do next. You hum a quick thanks before you’re out of the door, slipping your phone away as you make your way to the subway.

Start Over (2/?)
Tumblr media
You were trained at a facility that made the best of the best assassins. When your graduation day was drawing near a group of the Avengers show up. You are taken back to NYC to join the Avengers, and you find it hard to adjust. But a famous someone comes in to save the day and offers you a deal you can’t refuse.
Pairing: Reader X Steve Rogers Featuring: Reader X Steve X Tony X Nat Warnings: None Rating of Series: Pg-13
Part 1/Part 2/Part 3/Part 4/Part 5/Part 6/Part 7/Part 8/Part 9/Part 10/Part 11/Part 12/Part 13
I felt the truck come to a slow halt. The doors squeaked as Mr. Stark opened my entrance. Light surrounded me, and so did the annoying hum of cars. Captain Rogers stepped in and grabbed the chains secured to the car and unhooked them. He motioned for me to stand. I cautiously made my way out of the car and onto the sidewalk next to me. I could tell from the vast majority of landmarks that I was in D.C. Why would they bring me someplace with such high profiles. It’s rather stupid on their part but nonetheless. As we walked towards a tall building, I noticed the giant letters plastered on the front. SHIELD. This was their headquarters. I let out a sigh. This would prove to be more difficult, but I was up for the challenge.
I was led into a glass elevator with the three Avengers. Captain Rogers swiped a card which allowed him access to the top floor. Once on the floor, I was led through glass doors. A man was sitting at a desk looking at some documents. There was an eye patch covering his left eye. This had to be Director Nicholas J. Fury. Captain Rogers pulled out a seat across from Director Fury and motioned for me to sit. I lowered my self into the black stainless steel seat. I kept my head down and stared at my dirty brown shoes.
“(Y/n) (y/l/n) welcome to Shield headquarters. I'm Director Fury, but I’m sure with your training you already knew that.” I continued to keep my head down making no acknowledgment of the previous statement. “We received notice of your academy a little over six months ago. We had enough people on the inside to maintain a vast outflow of information. Your name popped up the most on the files given to us. You have been the most promising student to ever walk through the doors of the academy. You're  fast to learn, your intellectual levels are very impressive, and your skills are vast.” I had always known I was something important, but I never knew I was considered as the most promising student in the academies history. This much praise caused for my head to shift up ever so slightly towards Directory Fury. “Here at Shield, we take notice of gifted peoples. Whether they have physical powers or are just good at what they do, we want them here to make the world a better place. You can make the world a better place (y/l/n). So to get to my point, we want you here. We know you were raised to believe that the world is good for nothing but at Shield, we don't believe that. Most of the world doesn't believe that. You can change the world (y/n), but you have to agree to do so. If you don't want to help, then we understand. You will be taken downstairs for monitoring until we find you fit and safe to join society. The choice is yours. We will give you some time to decide.” Fury got up from his seat and walked away from me while the others followed. I kept my head facing forward as the door closed behind me. I didn't know if they were expecting me to make a run for it or if they actually wanted me to think about this offer. In all honesty, I was considering joining the team an option.
My skills would be put to good use, and I would actually be my own employer. I wouldn't have to go job to job. But was that what I wanted. I was taught that no one place could be my home. Home was where the next task was. People like me won't last in a single location. But if I accepted, I could always run. If I didn't like it, I could take something and be on my way. If I choose to decline who knows how long I would be trapped in the basement of Shield.
I looked behind me and saw through the glass doors Director Fury talking with the others. He had made eye contact with me. I gave a small nod and in response he did the same. He finished his conversation with the others and made his way back into the room. He sat down in his chair and looked back to me. This time I met his gaze instead of turning my head.
“When do I start?”
Once I agreed Director Fury had my cuffs removed and had me fill out some paperwork. Once I was finished Captain Rogers, Mr. Stark, and Ms. Romanoff walked back into the room. Mr. Stark typed something into his phone before making his way over to me.
“All right kid time to go.” I looked back to Director Fury who gave me one last reassuring nod. I didn't know if I could trust these people yet. I was new and now the youngest member of the team. I wouldn't be their top priority if it came to saving someone else in the group. Nevertheless, I had learned how to be an individual at the academy, I could easily take care of myself on this team.
After we loaded onto a quinjet, I sat in the back. I sat across from Ms. Romanoff while Mr. Stark and Captain Rogers sat up front. So many thoughts were popping into my head at this moment. Maybe this was the journey they were talking about at the academy. We were trained to be neutral to our jobs. Whatever side we chose was fine so long as we made money and paid our dues to the academy. But they were no more. Now it was my choice. I could be natural, I could be good. I could be bad. I guess it didn't really matter so long as I was employed and could provide for myself.
When the jet made its landing on the roof, I watched as Mr. Stark and Captain Rogers exited first. Ms. Romanoff stood up and made her way over. She gave me an encouraging smile and motioned for me to stand.
“I get that this must be different for you. One moment your at a school full of other peers, people just like you, and now you're thrown into this group of differently skilled heroes. I know that they teach you friends are unnecessary but I’m going to let you in on something I learned when I was in your position. It’s good to have friends. They will have your back and support you. I’m not saying you have to accept all of this. I’m just saying that contrary to belief it's okay to be trusting in people like us.” I got up from my seat and made my way off the jet.
“Thank you for the advice, Ms. Romanoff.”
“Please don't call me Ms. Romanoff. It makes me feel old. You can call me Natasha or Nat if you want.”  I gave Natasha a nod.
When I walked into the building, it was like something I had never seen before. Sure we had advanced technology to practice with at the academy, but besides that, we were very old school. But this tower was almost unimaginable. The interior was all very modernistic the cedar floors looked brand new with its glowing polish. It smelled like vanilla with a hint of cleaning products. Nothing here seemed out of place.
I continued into the common room and did a complete examination of the room. Mr. Stark walked up behind me and took in the view of his home.
“Taking in the view I see.” I nodded but didn't say a word to Mr. Stark.
“Well, I hope you're impressed. It didn’t come cheap let me tell you that.” I continued to stare at the interior of the building. “I was told to show you your room so if you want to follow me, I can show you where it’s at.” Mr. Stark rested his hand on my shoulder. I quickly jumped back at the touch of someone against my body. I didn't like it when people touched me. I didn't like it when people came near me. I wasn't familiar with physical contact unless it was associated with pain. Mr. Stark looked at me with a concerned look on his face. “Sorry I didn't mean to startle you.”
“It’s fine.” I looked down at the floor at the clean white rug beneath my shoes. Mr. Stark began walking out of the room, and I followed behind him, making sure to keep enough space between us. We arrived onto the floor my room was on and we walked to the end of the hall. Mr. Stark pushed open my door and motioned for me to go in. When I stepped in the curtains drew up and the lights turned on. It was more than I could imagine. The king-sized bed had a fresh cream duvet on top with multiple pillows to match. There was a sitting area with a tv mounted on the wall. To my left, there was a wall that was replaced by windows. New York City was vast, and from this view, you could see the whole city. On the right there was a desk with everything I could need. A cell phone, computer, and other miscellaneous items. I continued into the bathroom where the lights switched on. There was a glass shower in the corner, in the other was a large jet stream tub. The countertop was black marble with two sinks placed within it. I walked back out of the room to see Mr. Stark standing in the middle of the room back on his phone. When he noticed my presence he looked up and put his phone in his front pocket.
“Do you like it?”
“Very much. Thank you, Mr. Stark.”
“No problem kid. If you don't mind I need to go take care of a few things. Will you be okay on your own for a bit?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Perfect. If you want to change into something else there should be a selection of new clothes in your closet and drawers to choose from. I will have Steve check on you in a bit. Enjoy your new space.”
“Thank you Mr. Stark.” He gave me a nod and walked out of the room closing the door behind him. I made my way over to the closet and picked out a sweatshirt and some jeans. I grabbed the laptop off the desk and made my way to my new bed. I looked up some websites that I had learned at the academy. Some were undercover work websites that we had been informed about. Others were just chatting websites updating us on the world events. I saw news of the academies fall on the pages. We were the best school for our purpose in North America. It was something teachers would brag about. If you whined about where you were, they would remind you of how grateful you should be for attending the place. I learned fast not to whine, not to complain, but to merely cohere to my orders.
Now I could leave it all behind. The academy, the old me. Maybe just maybe I'd be able to start over.

Lee Broom Transforms NYC Penthouse Into Sustainable Masterpiece
We’re longtime admirers of British designer Lee Broom and while London is the city he calls home, he spends a lot of time in New York City for both work and pleasure. Wanting a place to return to in the evenings after long, hectic days, Broom acquired a duplex apartment occupying two floors of the White Street in Tribeca. The light-filled penthouse spans 3,000 square feet giving him a spacious backdrop to work with, as this project marks his first interior design project since 2015. While Broom is primarily known for his modern lighting, he was inspired to design an entire collection of furniture and accessories just for the penthouse, all of which will be launching this year. The space evokes a sense of welcoming calm while perfectly exhibiting his impeccable aesthetic seen through beautifully curated vignettes. “The thing that appealed to me about this penthouse was that, rather than being one expansive space, it had many different rooms and areas to explore, which gave me the opportunity to create vignettes within each space that all have their own personal style yet still work within an overarching design scheme. This is in contrast to my apartment in London which is very open plan,” says Broom.
A Hanging Hoop Chair in brushed brass and black Kvadrat wool hangs near the windows, perfect for gazing out into the city. If the chair looks familiar, you might remember Beyoncé swinging in one in her ‘Already‘ video from her ‘Black is King’ visual album.
This particular apartment really appealed to me – it is a light-filled, 3,000-square foot space, with expansive high ceilings and flowing natural light. The whole building had already been extensively and sustainably restored, so from a renovation perspective the treatment was more cosmetic, however we added some new structural details such as the chimney breast and fire surround and removed doors and archways to open up the space.
The living room features a monochromatic color palette accented with brushed brass, gunmetal and matte black. “The focal point of the living room is the new White Street sofa designed specifically for this environment. It is an architectural, streamlined, modular piece which can be arranged in multiple configurations and is connected by sculpted armrests, corner and side tables, each produced in white or black ash wood,” shares Broom. “The sofa fabric is a soft ivory bouclé which is a nice contrast to harder, wooden end sections. And with its expansive and curved back, the sofa appears to almost float, anchored only by its connectors. It’s all about balance.”
Throughout the living room, various Lee Broom lights are incorporated, including the Carousel XL chandelier in polished gunmetal, Lens Flair in matte black, and Crescent table lamp. “Also showcased in this room are the new Tribeca Tables, a series of sculptural side and coffee tables, which mirror the same floating concept as the sofa, appearing to defy gravity. Crafted in black silk marble and travertine, its smooth round tabletop cantilevers over a monolithic square base, balancing perfectly,” says Broom. “The tables also have a stepped detail that reflects the local architecture, in particular the Long Lines building, a 1970s brutalist skyscraper that is visible form my apartment.”
Refraining from typical pendants that hang above kitchen islands, Broom displays two Tube Lights in Carrara marble and brushed brass. Keeping to the building’s commitment to sustainability, all of the wood used in the kitchen is over 300 years old and the marble is from Vermont’s underground marble quarry.
With views of the terrace and One World Trade, the dining room is decked out with dramatic blue moiré walls and grey velvet pleated drapes, alongside polished and brushed stainless steel accents, like the new Lee Broom Musico chairs and circular Musico dining table.
A white Split mirror and Drunken Side Table accent a seating area in the corner of the dining room.
A vintage bar from the 1980s that was custom designed by Steve Chase for the Chase Residence in Laguna Beach, California, finds a new home with Broom.
A vintage 1960s bed made of stainless steel and brass ended up being too large for Broom’s home in London but luckily it’s perfect for his primary bedroom in New York.
Orion Lights in polished gunmetal hang above an archived sofa Broom designed in 2011.

YTL Headquarters Kuala Lumpur
YTL Headquarters Kuala Lumpur Building Design, Malaysia Office Development
YTL Headquarters Kuala Lumpur Building
25 Nov 2020
YTL Corporation Berhad Headquarters Kuala Lumpur News
Interior Design: MOD, Architects
Photography David Yeow Photography
Location: 205 Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
“UNIFYING PRESENCE”
Design brief: To unify
YTL Corporation Berhad, a large Malaysian infrastructure conglomerate founded in 1955, grew from a small construction firm into a global infrastructure company spanning oil & gas, cement, construction, property development and hotels.
Previously occupying various offices in different locations, this YTL Headquarters located in Central Kuala Lumper (along Jalan Bukit Bintang) brings together for the first time, the entire suite of YTL departments (numbering more than a dozen, comprising 1000 staff members), each of which have developed their own culture and operations.
The brief for MOD (Ministry of Design)was to design the public areas shared by these departments, i.e. Ground Floor lobby and levels 8-10, and present a unified brand identity under one roof. As such, MOD sought to create a series of choreographed spatial experiences which aim to balance YTL’s legacy of corporate professionalism with a future-forward attitude that embraces change.
Design concept: To respect legacy and infuse future-forwardness
There are 2 main public area zones, the Ground Floor lobby, and 3 upper floors (levels 8-10) which comprises a host of collective meeting zones, and a cafe.
At the Ground Floor, visitors are greeted by a vertically cavernous lobby which spans more than 25-meters in height (7 floors). The design challenge for MOD, was how to enhance the majestic quality of the space, yet not dwarf the human scale and provide a welcoming entrance. As such, the lobby is a study in proportion, light control and a disciplined use of materials. The soaring space has been designed to capture the rays of light in the daytime, and glow like a lantern in the evening.
MOD designed the marble-clad columns such that its rhythm is denser and more grounded at the bottom, yet getting lighter towards the top, giving the impression of ascending lightness. MOD inserted horizontal striations and ridges using bronze accents, in the continuing pattern of white Bugatsa Marble, to provide visual relief rather than a continuous ascension to the top.
A glittering art installation hovers like a cloud over a series of pavilion niches, which provide a sense of human scale in this vast space. MOD designed the seating areas as architectural pavilion niches rather than mere decorative benches. These seating areas provide iconic Barcelona Couches for visitors to sit on and admire the lobby’s majestic cavernous quality, and the pavilion niches are also designed in the same restrained material palette, featuring bronze bead blast metal trims for consistency.
After a visitor signs in at the reception desk and proceeds past the turnstiles, they would indicate the destination floor number at the lift call button area before entering the lift lobby (incorporating a “destination-dispatching” elevator system). Design-wise, while MOD wanted to keep the entrance experience entirely symmetrical from the drop-off to the lift car, there was an existing stair core which prevents this symmetry; in response, MOD created a bronze-clad “portal” to anchor the lift portal and draw a visitor’s eyes towards that lift lobby when he enters the main lobby. The lift lobby is accented with the same bronze metal as the main lobby for a consistently disciplined material palette.
Levels 8 to 10 comprise a café, multiple types of open & closed meeting spaces and a 122-pax function room. This public zone is conceived to be an extension of the lobby area, and is conceptualized to be the point of interface between YTL staff and external visitors and consultants.
The “heart” of L8 is the handsome grey granite café counter with bronze shelves and oak timber ceilings and walls. Serving up freshly baked confectionary as well as aromatic espressos, this café counter is designed with a rough-edged split-face granite on its vertical surfaces and a smooth black sesame polished granite for the horizontal counter.
To introduce connectivity between Levels 8 and 9, MOD introduced a void and a feature spiral stair, designing an arresting and dynamic cage-like stair with vertical rods made of powdercoated bronze metal, sitting on a bed of black gravel. A visitor is meant to feel a sense of timeless elegance and beautifully crafted materiality whilst climbing the stair, with one hand on the elegant leather handrails.
On all three levels 8, 9, and 10, MOD has created a myriad of meeting space types to suit a variety of small to large gatherings, private to non-private. These spaces range from casual communal tables, open discussion areas, hot-desk / banquette seating / booth seating areas, to semi-enclosed meeting rooms, acoustically private rooms, a VIP room and a large multi-function meeting area that can seat 122 persons.
These spaces are designed with a warm and sophisticated palette, featuring warm oak timber for the walls and ceilings, silver mink marble flooring, and black powder-coated metal trims for lighting fixtures. The café, banquette and booth seating are upholstered in German-based innovative fabric from Saum & Viebahn whose “magic” range features high quality fabrics built for high-usage and easy maintenance.
The tables feature either striking black Nero Marquina marble or elegant white Calacatta marble. The enclosed meeting rooms feature handsome carpet flooring from the Net Effect Collection, elegant brown leather chairs and timber tables.

C.ABOUT MINISTRY OF DESIGN
Ministry of Design is an integrated architectural, interior design and branding firm that has won Singapore’s President Design Award twice, New York’s Gold Key Award thrice, and named “Designer of the Year” by International Design Awards (USA), and been featured in Wallpaper, Frame and Surface.
Headquartered in Singapore, with offices in Beijing and Kuala Lumpur, MOD was declared a “Rising Star of Architecture” by the Monocle Singapore Survey 2010 and “Designer of the Year” by the International Design Awards, USA 2010. Our recent portfolio includes VUE Hotel Houhai Beijing (Winner of 13 international awards including Best Emerging Concept, Gold Key NYC 2018), Race Robotics Laboratory (Winner of 12 international awards including IIDA USA Design of the Year 2018), COO Sociatel, Loke Thye Kee Residences, 100PP Office Building, Durasafe Gallery (Red Dot 2014 Winner) and Eco Layer Gallery.
Created by Colin Seah to question convention and redefine the spaces, forms and experiences that surround us, MOD’s explorations are created amidst a democratic studio-like’ atmosphere and progress seamlessly between form, site, object and space. At MOD, we provide our clients services that transcend mere design skill sets or technical prowess.
We prefer to start far upstream and instead of merely designing solutions, we design holistic experiences. The resultant design thinking then translates into a wide variety of possible downstream design applications and media: be it architecture, product design, interior architecture, branding, graphics, landscape or even the weaving of diverse disciplines into a single project.
“We love to question where the inherent potential in contemporary design lies, and then to disturb the ways they are created or perceived, redefining the world around us in relevant and innovative ways, project by project. This, we declare, is real change, not change for the sake of novelty.
Fortified with these aspirations, we begin each distinct project anew by seeking to do 2 things: to draw deeply from the context surrounding each project, but also to dream freely so that we might transcend mere reality and convention. Each MOD project endeavours to be delightfully surprising but yet relevant, distinctly local but still globally appealing.”
