             it  had  been  her  idea  to  drive  out  this  far  .  not  by  any  confidently  placed  pin  on  a  map  ,  but  by  the  continued  request  to  just  keep  going  .  it  was  a  silent  ask  ,  more  of  a  shake  of  the  head  as  nolan  stopped  in  front  of  marley’s  house  ,  and  another  when  he  stopped  in  front  of  his  own  .  so,  they  kept  going  .  past  their  respective  houses  ,  past  their  usual  haunts  ,  past  all  the  stop  lights  and  pavement  markings  .  the  night  was  entirely  clear  .  it  was  late  enough  that  the  roads  were  long  empty  ,  only  stray  headlights  and  the  nameless  brown  noise  of  tires  on  asphalt  .  any  of  nolan’s  attempts  at  conversation  were  shrugged  off  as  marley  retreated  even  further  toward  the  passenger  seat  door  .  usually  ,  he’d  be  happy  to  plow  through  their  dead  air  ,  fill  it  with  useless  blather  until  she  begrudgingly  joined  or  started  threatening  him  ,  but  tonight  felt  different  .  the  unfamiliar  house  he  had  picked  her  up  from  was  entirely  inconspicuous  ,  but  the  look  on  her  face  as  she  scrambled  into  his  car  felt  anything  but  .  so  when  marley  wanted  to  keep  going  ,  nolan  did  with  an  obliged  silence  .  and  they  were  here  now,  over  an  hour  away  from  anything  and  on  a  quarter  tank  . 

             here  is  where  local  government  omitted  the  expense  of  road  signs  and  lampposts  ,  where  large  pines  bowed  toward  the  road  around  them  ,  branches  swaying  and  offering  only  occasional  peeks  of  stars  where  leaves  and  limbs  had  begun  to  thin.  selfishly  ,  dangerously  ,  nolan  felt  himself  leaning  forward  in  his  seat  ,  chest  touching  the  wheel  ,  ogling  at  the  small  slivers  of  light  .  maybe  it  had  been  too  long  since  he’d  walked  out  from  beneathcity  smog  ,  because  this  surely  shouldn’t  feel  so  impressive  ,  but  when  he  found  himself  looking  over  at  marley  ,  watching  that  same  light  tangled  in  her  hair  ,  refracting  from  the  small  corner  of  her  eye  from  his  perspective  ,  starlight  simply  became  a  vehicle  for  a  view  like  this  .  “  i  feel  like  i’ve  been  missing  out  ,  ”  nolan  finally  says  aloud  ,  shattering  the  silence  and  snapping  her  attention  .  and  he  knew  it  was  awful  ,  because  he  made  no  effort  to  look  up  at  the  sky  right  now  ,  because  the  fine  print  of  his  words  were  clear  .  the  car  rolled  along  at  a  snail’s  pace  ,  his  foot  barely  touching  the  gas  .  the  slow  creep  of  the  vehicle  made  him  aware  of  the  little  amount  of  gas  they  had  left  ,  seemingly  dwindling  faster  than  ever  as  he  lifted  a  hand  off  the  wheel  ,  glancing  down  to  check.  his  foot  pressed  to  the  brake  ,  the  both  of  them  jolting  slightly  in  their  seat  as  he  put  the  car  in  park  .  nolan  swallowed  hard  as  he  remembered  himself  ,  the  starlight  ,  the  arms  length  to  which  he  should’ve  grown  accustomed  ,  the  now  remaining  eighth  of  a  tank  . 

             “  i’m  going  to  be  honest  .  just  to  clear  the  air  ,  and  then  i’m  gonna  take  you  home  before  we’re  stranded  here  and  you  could  finally  release  your  inhibition  of  cannibalism  .  ”  it  rang  out  dead  serious  ,  but  he  can  hear  a  huff  of  laughter  from  the  passenger  side  .  still  ,  he  kept  his  eyes  up  at  the  sky  for  now  ,  glancing  down  at  the  steering  wheel  when  he  felt  particularly  brave  .  it  was  quiet  ,  all  except  for  the  idle  of  the  car  .  “  i  think  i  like  you  .  i’m  not  sure  ,  because  you  either  hate  me  or  do  a  good  job  of  acting  like  it  .  but  i  want  you  to  know  i  didn’t  mean  to  .  like  you  ,  i  mean,  ”  he  keeps  going  ,  aware  of  their  isolation  ,  of  how  a  confession  like  that  in  a  moment  like  this  may  seem  intimidating  .  “  the  teasing  and  flirting  was  a  joke  because  you  hated  it  ,  and  then  it  didn’t  feel  like  a  joke  at  some  point  .  i  don’t  know  why  i’m  saying  all  this   …   i  guess  to  get  to  the  point  that  i  don’t  expect  anything  from  you  ,  other  than  your  usual  homicidal  temperament  .  ”  somehow,  he  rouses  the  courage  to  look  over  ,  marley’s  eyes  unexpectedly  on  him  .  “  all  of  this  to  say  ,  if  you  ever  want  me  to  shut  the  fuck  up  ,  i  will  .  i’ll  stop  with  the  jokes  and  the  annoying  bullshit  ,  as  long  as  you  call  me  when  you  feel  like  you  need  to  ,  like  you  did  tonight  .  ”  nolan  draws  in  a  deep  breath  ,  sinking  into  his  seat  as  all  of  his  hard-earned  courage  slowly  leaks  out  of  him  .  “  i  don’t  know  what  happened  ,  why  you  wanted  to  try  to  find  the  children  of  the  corn  out  here  in  bumfuck  ,  or  why  you’ve  been  trying  to  eat  the  vinyl  of  my  car  door  all  night  ,  but  i’m  glad  you  called     ...     that’s  all  .  ”  when  he  moved  to  the  gearstick  ,  marley's  hand  stopped  him  .  and  as  she  pulled  him  into  the  backseat  ,  recalling  his  promise  to  shut  the  fuck  up  when  he  complained  of  their  lack  of  gas  and  nearly  dead  phones  ,  nolan  conceded  .  after  all  ,  it  had  been  her  idea  to  drive  out  this  far .

'It’s been a mammoth month for Hollywood as ‘Barbenheimer’ fever has gripped audiences worldwide. In what was a historic weekend for cinema, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer locked horns with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. While Barbie took top honors for its record breaking opening weekend collection, Oppenheimer is already being regarded as Nolan’s best film yet.

Both films gaining immense recognition with their respective audience well into the second week is an indicator that the month of July well and truly belongs to ‘Barbenheimer’. But the Owen Wilson starrer Haunted Mansion looks to be up for a challenge with its release on July 28th. This decision though, has been looked upon with scepticism by netizens who have also questioned the massive budget that the film has been made on.

Netizens Question The Worth Of Owen Wilson’s Haunted Mansion It’s difficult to look past July’s two massive releases that are currently the talk of the town. While Oppenheimer and Barbie are ruling the roost at the box office, Owen Wilson’s Haunted Mansion has quietly made its way to the theaters this week. The film which is a theatrical adaptation of Disney’s famous theme park ride, is a reboot of the original 2003 film. Haunted Mansion also stars veterans Danny DeVito and Jamie Lee Curtis along with Tiffany Haddish and Rosario Dawson.

The film has opened to mixed reviews from audiences and critics despite having the Disney banner behind it. In addition, netizens are calling out the ill-timing of its release which follows a week after the month’s biggest films Oppenheimer and Barbie. Other viewers are also questioning the high scale $150 million budget of the film stating that the script of the original as well as the reboot are not worthy of such lofty spending.

Should have come out on Halloween instead of the same month as Barbie & Oppenhimer. Also why tf does this movie have a $150 Million budget? the original haunted mansion wasn’t even that popular to begin with.

From the initial responses, it looks like Disney may have got their tactics wrong with the timing of their release while also not finding favor with fans through the narrative. It now remains to be seen if the Owen Wilson starrer will gain momentum as the days go on.

Owen Wilson Was Scared Into Action In Haunted Mansion

Hollywood star Owen Wilson is out with his new film Haunted Mansion which released on the 28th of July worldwide. The comedian plays the role of Father Kent in the adaptation of the famous Disney theme park ride. Though the film has opened to mixed reviews, Wilson, in an earlier interview, said that he cherished his memorable experiences on set with a glittering ensemble cast. The actor added that his performance was further heightened by the believable nature of the scares which made him get into character organically.

“I actually think some of the ghosts, some of the makeup and everything. The way these ghosts looked was pretty terrifying and unnerving, and so that was just one less thing to act because it kind of throws you, so it was easy to sort of get that feeling.”

Wilson also praised his A-list co-stars Danny DeVito and Jamie Lee Curtis for being being complete sports on set and enlivening it with their humor and wit. The Marley and Me star stated that the horror comedy was a genre which connected with viewers worldwide and was always a safe bet for success.'

Ok so I'm bad with recognizing actors, but I started paying attention after THAT moment when I realized the music meister is Blaine Anderson.

Now everything is related to everything else.

Camilla is rent OBC's mimi, Vaggie is Mirable from Encanto aka Rosa from b99. Hazbin Lucifer is in the flash musial episode and also in SMASH, the music meister is Blaine Anderson who also happens to be St. Peter in Hazbin, Sebastian Smythe and Marley Rose fights the music meister (aka Blaine Anderson with diffrent hair) as the flash and supergirl, Hunter Clarington is Felicity's ex bf in Arrow, Carlos Valdes have a musical background, the guys that wrote dear evan hansen and lala land wrote running home to you, John Barrowman is here for some reason as a mafia boss, John Simm (the master) collaborated with Nolan Funk in a show once, and Hunter Clarington is in a nickelodeon show similar to high school musical called spectacular that somehow showed up on my youtube dash(honorable mention).

Is this chaos? Yes. Is it fun? Yes.

Family: Her parents and one of her brothers are dead. Her big brother Prince Charming, David Nolan is alive. And so is everyone else is alive.

Seasons: 1-7

Half of the Family Tree —> Her brother David, sister in law Snow, niece & nephew Emma & Neal. Her grandson Henry and sister/half mother in law Regina. (This family is a complex one ngl but theses are the main ones)

Friends: Ruby, Regina, Rumple, Hook, Jefferson and others she meets along the way. Of course, you also the The Dwarfs aka Grumpy and his family of brothers.

Romance: Ex-boyfriend, Rider. Other than that currently single and ready to mingle.

Her most notable title is: Princess & The Pea, it’s why she can be so annoyed and stuffy sometimes. Also it’s why she tends to challenge people on deals and play on both side of an agreement. Never judge a person by their momentary appearance.

Relations: She works for Rumple and Evil Queen, search & retrieving items for them for a good price in return. Pretending to be a princess and warriors for the royal family she placed into with her older brother David.

When Cadence became a princess due to the deal with Rumple, she never thought it would somewhat boring. Sit still, look pretty and pretend to be romanticized with the other royals of the kingdom, she wanted to know more than just stay in the castle walls. Which lead her to find Rumple and challenge him a deal for a high rank, he didn’t need a maiden of any sort, due to him already having Belle, but he did need someone to search the forests and retrieve items for him.

And Cadence agreed shortly after. Two days later she returned with a mirror ball from Wonderland and Rumple was more than impressed. The man was happy and knew she will be a very helpful asset. His Royal Retriever he liked to call her.

Eventually he started to work with her, giving her a special necklace and bracelet for she can always find her way back. Her dresses were more practical clothes on occasion for being on the field.

She met more than a few people on her travels and one of them being Snow White. In which a week later, Bandit Snow White met her brother Prince Charming.

—> Snow nickname her Cadie, short for Cadence. Even called her princess a few times. Little did they know they would be family soon enough..

Time after during the curse came, it was pure chaos and she fought alongside her brother, making sure Emma ended up in the wardrobe safely.

Cadence held Emma in her arms and placed the necklace comfortably around her.

David gasped, “Cadie, that’s your necklace you need it. That how you get around the realms.”

“Emma needs it more than I do. Find her way home.” She repiled placing the baby in the wardrobe with a smile.

David placed a sad smile and kisses his daughter forehead whispering a few words closing the doors.

Both siblings told side by side fighting the guards, sadly they got hurt. Charming more than Cadenza…

Regina arrived with a crazy look on her face as her spell brought everyone to Storybrooke..

In Storybrooke, she was cursed to be a women named Skylar Lane. One of the bakers of the town, always bringing sweet treats and flowers to the people of Storybrooke. Especially to Mr. Gold and Mayor Mills on a daily basis.

She knocked on the door, “Afternoon, Regina.”

She opened the door kindly, “Good afternoon, Skylar.”

She noticed the look on her face and asked if she was okay. Regina explained that Henry was gone, she reassured her that afternoon that he will show up soon. She was dragged to the Police Station by the Mayor to see the cops know where he is.

That’s where she met Emma Swan, trying to help them find Henry with her best friend, Mary Margaret advice. To say Regina was pissed off was a understatement, she just wanted her son and ready to lock anyone up if it meant she can get the job done quicker. Skylar had to be the voice of reason for both sides, telling Regina to stay home while Emma went looking for Henry.

Skylar went to visit a coma patient at Storybrooke Hospital under the name, John Doe, she visited the man very week talking to him, bringing flowers and sweets in hope he would wake up. She felt connected to him, like they were friends or something stronger. Little did she know that’s her big brother (Henry would tell her that tale later). She would play with her bracelet as she spoke and would always leave giving the man a gentle squeeze on his shoulder. But he never woke up..

—> Emma stayed in town, of course. She was glad, especially when the blonde moved in with Mary Margaret because that mean Skylar got to see both women on a daily basis after catching up with Ruby at the Dinner. She became friends with Emma Swan, sharing stores, drinking together and giving each other advice. Skylar always tended to help Emma on cases around town such as the Mary Margaret arrest, Ashley’s situation with Mr. Gold, The issue with John Doe, and so much more.

Stranger things kept happening in the town involving everyone who lived there. Skylar even felt it too, especially when her ex-boyfriend who mothers hated her kept showing up to try and win her back, she stupidly said yes to a date and her ex-boyfriend trying to even kidnap her. Emma saved the day of course.

With everything that happened, Skylar felt odd. The shift in the air felt stronger than ever, she picked up on the little things. Words, phases and movements in the town. Especially after hearing Henry Mills talk to her about being a character in his storybook…

Her curiosity was brought to light when she delivered Emma her favorite type of donut to the station, noticing the necklace. Emma shrugged saying the necklace was something she had since she was a baby, however the clasp in the back got weak.

Skylar suggested that she’ll take it to the jeweler, her jeweler being Mr. Gold, for a retighten. Emma heisted for a moment but agreed wanting it back by sundown, at least.

She agreed taking the necklace off her hands noticing the fine details. The rich vintage gold details, the engraved chested green and white diamonds shaped into swirling around one around like a flower shinning around daylight. It reminded Skylar on her very own bracelet, lost in pieces at home. She stepped into Mr. Gold’s shop with a smile.

He was waiting for her, patient for her loyal curious self to walk in. Mr. Gold has been awake from a while now and waiting for her to be. The more people awaken from the curse and not down for the count, the better.

“What can I do for you today, Ms. Lane?” He asked, noticing the necklace and bracelet in her hands with a smile.

“Ms. Swan needs the clasp in the back of her necklace tighten.” She replies simply, handing it to him to examine.

“Ah, I see. And why not take it somewhere else?”

“Because I know you can do the job better and give it a fine cleaning.”

He noticed the look in her eye, something he’s been noticing rather recently ever since her kidnapping. She tried to hide it, most of the time she could cover up the look on her face but like Charming, David Nolan, she couldn’t.

She sighed, “Miss Swan says that this necklace belong to her, saying that she assumed her parents gave it to her before she was given up..”

“And?” He asked hoping that the real women behind that curse persona would shine though and speak up.

“I have a bracelet that is oddly similar at home..what if..what if, they’re a match? Same jeweler or something. Ever since Emma came, in felt drawn to her..”

“Like love of some kind?”

“No love, like I know her. Her and Mary Margaret act the same way..can you look into it?”

“I need the whole necklace and bracelet to do so.”

She smiled, running off to her small apartment complex searching for the broken bracelet. It was always a rather shatter piece of jewelry, she brought for half price years ago. The green diamonds were missing but the white stayed the same, never fallen off. Skylar return the piece to Mr. Gold and went to continue her day at the diner, working alongside Ruby and being dragged on a case with Emma.

It was a long day, Skylar couldn’t be more tired and out of breath from everything, however she promised Emma that necklace to be returned safely and surely to the loft. Mr. Gold smiled when she walked in, he’s been working on the necklace and bracelet all day. They were freshly tighten, cleaned and the diamonds were engraved the way they should be.

“Y-you fixed them?” She said in awe, gently holding them in her grasp.

“Try them on.” He replies with a smile, standing behind the counter.

“Alright.”

She placed the bracelet swiftly on her wrist as if it shined, feeling a awing source within her and chuckled. Mr. Gold told her again, wear the bracelet and necklace. She hesitated since it doesn’t belong to her, it never has, but she did it anyway. It couldn’t hurt right? It’s just a necklace.

The second Skylar placed the necklace firming on her neck, having the diamonds facing the correct direction and such. She ran her fingers across the jewelry smiling and turned away thanking Mr. Gold about to walk out when she paused. She gasped harshly, a sharp wave of memories and emotions washed over from the moment she was recruited to be a princess to the day she put Emma in the wardrobe.

Skylar blinked tempering with the new found information and looked over her shoulder to see Mr. Gold leaning against the counter with a soft smile.

“Is something wrong, my dear Mi Amore?” He asked as his smile grew seeing the look in her eyes.

It took her a moment to speak until she said, “Nothing Rumple, I think we need to talk.”

headcanon dump: movies edition.

idk why i have so many thoughts about something as mundane as movies when i also have said that megumi isn't the biggest movie person KJDSFKSDJFDS but i love thinking about movies i watch and how my muses feel about them so here we go!

01. i like to imagine a world where he was bullied into making a letterboxd account. i think he's kind of the opposite of the way that kojima tweets about movies where instead of writing a really thoughtful piece about how much he likes a movie but then just says "i saw [movie] today" about a movie he (most likely) did not like, megumi will say "i saw [movie] today" about movies he's generally fine with but will go off on movies he hated. sometimes he'll say something nice about a movie that really appealed to him but it's usually just as short.

his top 4 fluctuates but i think currently would be planet earth, the princess bride, dead poets society, and knives out.

i was going to explain my thought process for his current top 4 in the tags but it was getting too long DKFJDSFD so:

planet earth: i really wanted one of the movies to be something centered in nonfiction or a documentary/docuseries. he really enjoys documentaries, though i think as much as he thinks it's compelling i think he doesn't really like true crime too much (probably in part because in the sorcery world there are probably true crime cases that one could just attribute to curses).

the princess bride: in truth i was really wavering between this and the shape of water as the like "romance" pick. i wanted a movie to reflect his soft spot for, like... not necessarily "romance" genre movies (though shape of water technically moreso IS, but it still hits differently from movies like the notebook and love actually etc etc), but movies that happen to have a romantic subplot that just hits. like, arwen giving up his immortality to be with aragorn (also would be remiss not to also mention literally aragorn and boromir and frodo and sam) he sees that he's like “fuck. okay. yeah i'd do that too huh.”

dead poets society: i'm not sure how well i can explain this one but i'll try. i think he's got the interest in movies that have queer readings or subtext. plus it's like… the self expression against a traditional/conservative structure, etc. i have another headcanon dump that's going to mention this (which i actually started first but got immensely sidetracked by this KJHDKFJDS) but i think megumi likes poetry, so that also played a part. also something something seizing the day/living in the moment reminiscent of megumi being encouraged to surpass his limits, in a way that i can't articulate atm but idk i feel like there's something there.

knives out: it just scratches an itch. the outcome and marta's validation in the film is satisfying but also anything megumi can try to unravel and solve in his mind is satisfying too. mystery movies can be fun for him but it's a balance because if he thinks the twist or the reveal or the resolution is stupid he's going to turn against the movie.

these are honestly kind of subject to change — i actually had gone girl in there in place of dead poets society, but i removed it from his top. initially i had gone girl even as an honorable mention just because there's a sort of "what the fuck" factor in viewing it that catches his interest but i didn’t think he ultimately felt as strongly about it — and THEN i rewatched the movie + my husband and by extension i read the book and it dropped massively down his movie list (he thinks the book is better KAJSKSJSKS)

02. he makes a point to visit "does the dog die" before viewing any movie. he also flat out refuses to watch movies like "marley and me" or "a dog's purpose." he knows you just want to catch him having the big emotions and he won't have it.

03. inspired by the fact that i finally finished watching all of christopher nolan's movies this past weekend, interstellar got him bad. hated watching the tricks with the birds in the prestige though, probably said out loud "they can't keep doing this." (i did not look at does the dog die before viewing—)

04. he doesn’t particularly like scary movies, though he thinks he handles them fine. that’s mostly true, especially when it's more of a psychological horror, but supernatural horrors are a little too unsettling. jumpscares get him every time though, and he hates them.

05. he generally finds most comedies unfunny, but then again he's not exactly the king of comedy (funny as i think he unintentionally is—).
