1. Three ships: Uh, yeah, I only have one right now because I don't think my brain could handle another. God knows my "Marked for Later" list on AO3 certainly couldn't, either 😅. Kylux, obviously.

2. First ever ship? In my head? Merry/Pippin from LOTR, though I admitted that to NO ONE at the time. First written ship was a female OC whom I wasn't entirely sure whether I shipped with Aragorn or Legolas...decisions, decisions.

3. Last song? I honestly cannot remember, though there was an excellent chance it was something by Within Temptation.

4. Last film? Crazy Rich Asians (only a few years late watching it, shame on me!).

5. Currently reading: Besides like three different fics—The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. I just couldn't stop thinking about that breathtaking Sleepy Hollow art by @klodwig. Tell me I don't need to write a Sleepy Hollow AU until I finish my other WIPs.

6. Currently watching: NCIS. Second time for me, but I thought my husband would love it (and he does).

7. Currently consuming: Nothing, because it's 4:00 in the morning and I need to go back to sleep.

8. Currently craving: These pumpkin cranberry streusel muffins...which I've been craving for like a week and will hopefully make soon. They're great, but on the tart side—make sure you like cranberries if you make them!

Currently reading: On my iPad I’m reading Scott Patterson’s Dark Pools: The Rise of the Machine Traders but it’s sooooo bad. One of those sensationalist business thrillers that fails to offer any substantive information on the technologies in play. In terms of physical books I have several going, but George Soros’s The Alchemy of Finance is the one at my bedside.

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: SPICY always.

Relationship status: forever trying to get @tofeelnew to let me snuggle her and give her little treats for the rest of our days

Current obsession(s): @tofeelnew (always); my soft grey cat Arete; cooking all the food from the Live to 100: Secrets of Blue Zones Netflix docuseries; journaling to process my trauma; watching livestreams from Central Synagogue in Manhattan; going to parks and fairs with my dear mother because autumn in New England is the time to be outside

Last thing I googled: “Pacific Rim characters” because my girl told me I wouldn’t be able to tell the white men in that movie apart and she was right!

Currently working on: Courses and networking to figure out how to expand my consulting practice into geopolitical/macroeconomic offerings (I’ve studied this stuff for 20 years…surely there’s a way to use that knowledge to provide value to others…)

I agree about Brooklyn - the movie is way better, and even then, it gets by on the sheer likeability of Saoirse and Domhnall because Eilis is not a very developed character - she's so blank

I remember thinking she was so passive! And in the end I didn’t really understand her dillema. I even liked the end of the movie better - at least there was some feeling there. (I think the author also liked the film ending better) I enjoyed the movie because the cinematography was so pretty, I liked the look of it a lot.

I wouldn't be surprised if google is extrapolating your knee pain based on where you work (assuming you have the location function on your phone turned on) and your shopping purchases - like if you've bought more advil or muscle relaxants than usual lately!

I haven’t bought anything like that lately but I guess my phone knows I work at a kennel? I don’t like itttttt, technology is just too much for me sometimes

WIP Wednesday

Since i did a similar tag response to this recently, here's a bit from my second to last worked on WIP - however, i did backtrack some as the ACTUAL last section was rife with smut. then the next couple sections had a lot of OC content, sooo i skipped past that as well ^^;

Standing just within the woods, half shielded by a thick oak, was a pale boy. Even in the dark Armitage could make out the black waves of hair, the charcoal clothes, the high grey collar of a thin undershirt beneath the oddly designed tunic, the subtle glint of surely expensive calf-high leather boots. He could see the spellbinding honey brown of dark-lashed doe eyes. Ben. "Ben," the name fell off his lips like a prayer. The boy stepped back into the trees, and like a tether to his soul Armitage followed. He was at the wooded border faster than he could blink. His momentum rushed him headlong into the dark expanse without any care for where or why. Moonlight slipping through cracks in the canopy of leaves gave the other boy a dim glow whenever it touched him; a beacon to follow. Every moment Armitage caught the flash of ink-speckled skin, his feet sped and his wild heart raced.

This is from a huxloween WIP i've been sporadically working on since 2020, hoping to finish it each huxloween - yet never doing so - ever since... why am i like this (-___-)

“What’s wrong with how I’m dressed?” Kylo pouted, and Armitage wondered if he was actually serious.

“Your trousers are practically up to your armpits,” Armitage explained impatiently, “making you appear to be someone’s ancient grandfather—and don’t get excited about that, for fuck’s sake.”

A grin twitched at the corners of Kylo’s lips as he asked, “That’s the only problem?”

Armitage unhappily felt his face going hot, and he abandoned the pretense. “Kylo,” he said, “put those away, for the love of god,” and he attempted to appear disgusted as he waved his hand at Kylo’s broad, muscular, and very bare chest.

I’m missing large chunks now, I’m working in the reading rooms in the afternoon - but I did see the actual wedding happening, so I’m content. I just wanted to see the ocean of fancy hats, it’s glorious!
