Fashion from 1910–1919 in the Western world was characterized by a rich and exotic opulence in the first half of the decade in contrast with the somber practicality of garments worn during the Great War.

Princess Pastiche: Tiana DELUXE Edition — Part 2b
Let’s keep the ball rolling on Tia’s white dream sequence gown and take a look at what an accurate white evening gown of the 1920s would be. I’ve got quite the selection for her!
Here she is wearing it in in Dr. Facilier’s illusion.
Before I show off my choices, let me preface by saying there were so many dresses to choose from that if I showcased them all this would be a very long series! So I had to pare it down to the ones that really stuck with me, and here they are:
Martial et Armand, 1922.
Beer, 1922.
Jean Patou, 1922.
[center] Beer, 1920.
Madeline Vionnet, 1925.
Now, if we’re going by film accuracy, the first dress by Martial et Armand would be the best pick because of the gold accents...but I just really fell in love with that Vionnet. It’s just so chic, and I thought the silhouette was slim and slinky, like the gown in the film.
Here’s my best stab at Tiana wearing it:
I elected to give her a beaded skullcap instead of a feather because (as you won’t be surprised to hear at this point), feathered headdresses were really not as common as popular culture would have you believe. But skullcaps, bandeaus (worn low above the brow), and turbans were all the rage and it’s what the model in the drawing above is wearing with the dress. This is because these items formed to the head and helped show off the fashionable new bobs (or faux-bobs) that women were sporting in the 20s.
I hope you like the dresses I showcased here! Maybe in the future I will do an “epilogue” to this series and can share others I liked but didn’t quite make the cut....
Anyway, that’s all for Tia’s white gown! Next we’ll look at her blue party dress.
Thanks for reading 🐸
