Dream Movie
It's the Dream Show challenge again! This time, it's a movie! I hope you enjoy it!
The Marvelous Ms. Marbell
Quick Synopsis:
Sweet elderly Ms. Mary Marbell has quite the reputation for solving murders. But when an unpleasant business man with more money than sense, and more enemies than either, is found dead in his office, Ms. Marbell's investigation takes on some interesting complications.
Annette Badland - Ms. Mary Marbell, amateur detective extraordinaire. But does she have some secrets of her own?
Annie Murphy - Nicole Fletcher, Ms. Marbell's trusted aide. Ms. Marbell has the sharpest of minds, but she isn't exactly adept at wiggling through windows or creeping into closets. So when the investigation requires a bit more physical legwork, young Nikki is happy to oblige.
Elden Henson - Detective Jack Winchell, the investigating officer. He's never worked with Ms. Marbell before, and he's quite skeptical of her reputation. At least until he sees her results.
Michael Shanks - Darren Holt - Our victim. An entirely disagreeable fellow who any number of kind, simple folk would love to see dead. But who could have done it? And why duct tape?
Jeff Goldblum - Aaron Jacobson - One of many potential suspects, but the one with the most recognizable face. He lost a lot of money due to one of Darren Holt's shady business deals. He also made his fortune in hardware, particularly duct tape. Could he perhaps be the murderer?
Sonequa Martin-Green - Tara Mars - An American blogger and investigator who has teamed up with a like-minded British counterpart. Ms. Marbell once proved her father guilty of murder, but Tara still has questions.
John Boyega - Stephen Smith - A British blogger and investigator. He's been following Ms. Marbell's exploits for years, and he thinks he's started noticing a few concerning patterns.
--
Full Synopsis:
Businessman Darren Holt has been murdered and Ms. Marbell is on the case. Despite the skepticism of her new "partner", Detective Winchell, Ms. Marbell thorough and gentle examination of witnesses and evidence soon bring results, and Aaron Jacobson is arrested for the crime.
But that's when Tara Mars and Stephen Smith show up, with a lot of questions. While Ms. Marbell has been investigating murders, they've been investigating Ms. Marbell and they've come up with one heck of an alternate theory for the crimes.
Is Ms. Marbell simply a brilliant, yet underestimated, amateur detective? Or is SHE the murderer, carefully choosing the most unlikable, distasteful victims so that she can send her real targets to prison instead?
Complicating the investigation is the discovery that Stephen Smith and Nicole Fletcher had once been very close friends in their shared Ms. Marbell fandom.
Ultimately, the murderer is revealed to be Nicole Fletcher. She'd long admired Ms. Marbell, and as the elderly sleuth's reputation began to fade, she'd taken it upon herself to provide new cases. She's imprisoned, Aaron Jacobson is set free, and a devastated Ms. Marbell returns to her sad, empty home.
In the coda, Ms. Marbell is visited by her long estranged grandson, Philip (as played by Arthur Darvill). As they enjoy the fresh air, she notices a very angry fellow shouting at the women on the street. "That one next," she tells her grandson, who nods solemnly as they continue their pleasant walk.

Jacobson organ?
🥰🥰🥰 Jacobson Organ!!!! Oh my gosh, I love the Jacobson Organ and I love talking about it!
It's also called the vomeronasal organ. It's located in the roof of the mouth, more or less and contributes to sense of smell. What animals have it?
- lizards!
- snakes!
- many mammals!
- humans? Kinda but its complicated??
If you've seen a cat sniff something weird and then open it's mouth, you've seen it use it's Jacobson Organ! It's drawing air over the roof off its mouth to get a better smell of things :)
When a mammal opens it mouth and curls it lips and inhales, it's actually called the "flehmen response" and it uses the Jacobson organ. This is especially helpful when animals are sniffing for pheromones and reproductive information! This behavior is seen in a ton of mammals: tigers, horses, deer, tapirs, hippos, goats, etc!
Here's a screenshot from the Wikipedia page for it:
The organ is functional in some primates and underdeveloped in others. So! Do humans have them?
:3 yeah kinda but they're not developed very well, and the exact details regarding their form and function is debated :3
Source for the screenshot above
(source for above screenshot, which my phone cropped weird and cut out the authors, Martin Witt and Thomas Hummel)
(source)
:3 thanks for asking, I hope it's okay that I rambled a bit in the answer! Humans have all kinds of fun anatomy and this one is particularly interesting to me ^w^

Avengers: Thunder (Unexpected Musical) — PattyCake Productions music video
Few movie franchises have had a greater impact on the film industry and online fandom in the 21st century than the MCU, particularly when the first Avengers movie brought together heroes from across the Marvel universe. So when PattyCake wanted to match the bombast of this Imagine Dragons banger, they turned to the larger-than-life characters from the silver screen.
Details:
title: Unexpected Musicals — Avengers: Thunder
performers: Jeremy James (Tony Stark / featured vocals); John Wright (Thor); Leah Lowman (Black Widow); Erich Dale (Captain America); Tony Flaherty (Star-Lord / featured vocals); Jackie Stressman Isham (Gamora / featured vocals); J.None (Black Panther / featured vocals); Skeet Karsgaard (Spider-Man); Billy Celiz (Iron Man double); Jason Tibbs (Black Panther double); Eli Jacobson, Tony Wakim, & Layne Stein (additional vocals)
original songs / performers: "Avengers theme" from The Avengers (2012); "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons; "Pray for Me" by The Weeknd, feat. Kendrick Lamar from Black Panther (2018)
written by: "Avengers theme" by Alan Silvestri; "Thunder" by Dan Reynolds, Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee, Daniel Platzman, Alexander Grant, Jayson DeZuzio, & Frederick Hansen; "Pray For Me" by Abel "the Weeknd" Tesfaye, Kendrick Lamar, Adam "Ging" Feeney, Jason "DaHeala" Quenneville, & Martin "Doc" McKinney
arranged by: Layne Stein & Tony Wakim
release date: 8 June 2018
My favorite bits:
reworking the Marvel Studios intro, complete with page-flip sounds
positioning Stark as the ♫ "young gun with a quick fuse" ♫
of course Thor gets the first iteration of ♫ "lightning before the thunder" ♫ as he should
Leah recreating Natasha's iconic landing pose
Star-Lord's little characteristic smirk
the slow bell chord under the end of Gamora's section
integrating the repulsors and blasters into the percussion
J.None spitting those Kendrick bars in T'Challa's accent
that unmistakable horn line under the choruses
sneaking in a nice animated Hulk silhouette
Trivia:
○ This video features a combination of familiar faces and new ones, but most are friends from the Orlando theme park performance community. Of the folks who hadn't appeared in previous PattyCake projects:
John and Erich are both longtime actors and stunt performers at Universal Studios.
Skeet is a costumer and special effects makeup tech.
Tony F. has performed in several vocal groups at both Universal Studios and Disney World. He was also a member of a cappella group Echo, who were VoicePlay's backups for their annual residencies in Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Disney World.
○ Although Tony Wakim usually makes all of PattyCake's costumes, this time he had help from some members of the local Guardians of Justice cosplay and volunteering group. That included Skeet wearing his own custom Spidey suit.
○ Several of the other superhero costume pieces and props for this video were created by Dynamic Duo Fabrications in Boston, another small business run by passionate geeks.
○ PattyCake had produced a handful of videos for groups from Jeremy's company, Entertainment Central Productions, so it was only fair that the guys pulled him into one of their own projects.
○ J.None kept his costume and used it for a kid's birthday party shortly thereafter.
○ This video is part of a loose pair celebrating Marvel and DC comic book movies with tracks from the latest Imagine Dragons album at the time. Its companion piece, "Batman: Whatever It Takes", was released a few weeks earlier.
