[Song to the Siren / Sixteen Days]] [This Mortal Coil] [1983] [12inch Single] On the A side of this 12 inch single is the medley "Sixteen Days/Gathering Dust". The songs of this medley were originally written by the New Wave Band "Modern English" "Sixteen Days/Gathering Dust is interpreted here by members of "Cocteau Twins", "Colourbox" and "Modern English" themselves and the singer Gordon Sharp. A very nice 1980s New Wave postpunk song that sounds a bit like a mixture of "The Cure", "Siouxsie and the Banshees" and "Sisters of Mercy". . Now to the actual pearl on the B-side: Already in 1967 Tim Buckley and Larry Beckett wrote the extraordinary great song " Song to the Siren". A song of such power and depth and that only with voice and guitar, a song that could run in an endless loop forever and ever. . 16 years later the incredible happened. The project "This Mortal Coil" created the most breathtaking and magical version of "Song to the Siren". Unfortunately Tim Buckley could not get to know this version anymore, he died tragically in 1975 at the age of only 28 years of uncut heroin. . . . . https://www.instagram.com/p/CiF52HBoHQq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
