sigh. i feel like you sewed the seeds for this.
molly would u like to elaborate on the skirt incident please, including both Mary’s reaction and Anthony’s when kate tells him about it ?
Okay, I walked myself into this one didn't I?
There's some spice at the beginning and then some Mary, and then some awkwardness. I might go to hell but you know what, I already was going to probably.
"Oh my god, Oh my god, Kate Baby that feels so fucking good." Anthony groaned as their hips ground together, his hands tight on her hips, Her knuckles white on headboard of his bed. A low whine ripped from her chest as he tilted her hips just slightly, the new angle forcing her even closer to the edge than she already was, dangling just over the precipice, ready to fall. And then his hand snaked between her legs as well, joining in the desperate rhythm and she fell apart for him with a sharp shout, shuddering against him.
Anthony's head dropped to her shoulder, his teeth nipping the skin there firmly, and fuck she hoped it bruised, maybe it was wrong but she didn't really care at this point, it just felt so brutally good. Surrendering control of her life in some way, to someone she trusted so much. God she was climbing higher and higher again, the scent of him all around her and it was just too much,
"I'm so close baby, Can I do the thing?"
She whined at the thought of it. "Say it and you can do it." Her voice breathless.
Anthony groaned, "Kate I wanna cum on you." She fell again, Anthony's hand covering her mouth, muffling her scream so his mother downstairs wouldn't hear. And then he was gone, while she was still shuddering against him collapsing against his pillows, the sharp snap of latex and warmth covered her back.
Anthony's breathless laughter filled the room, his face appearing as he rolled her gently, ignoring her groan of protest for his sheets. God he was so beautiful, his hair braided back, exertion shining from his face, his eyes shining with love.
"You're beautiful and I love you." His voice was still rough as he nuzzled against her neck, pulling her closer.
"I love you too." Kate said tiredly, her eyelids fighting to close, sleep taking her for just a moment.
The alarm rang through the room, just like it always did eventually, to warn Kate that her curfew was approaching. They'd very quickly realised, that the moments after they had sex were, to Anthony especially, just as nice as the act itself. He always seemed desperate to be close to her afterwards, to cuddle together in the warmth of the love between them and it was nice, Kate rarely slept better actually.
She sighed as she sat up, Anthony groaning beside her, casting around for her clothes.
"Come on big boy, your best friend Tom isn't going to like you so much if you're later bringing me back." She couldn't resist the tease though her heart filled with joy that her father had accepted Anthony for who he really was, rather than what he looked like.
She hummed to herself as she got dressed cleaning herself up, casting around for her skirt last of all and "Oh Fuck!"
Anthony's head shot towards her, still buttoning his jeans, suddenly concerned. "Are you alright, Fuck, Kate did I hurt you? I'm so-"
"You came on my skirt." She was staring down at her skirt, a white stain a little too evident against the purple fabric.
Anthony's mouth fell open. "Oh shit, it must have been when I rolled you. It'll probably come out in the wash."
Panic was building slightly in her chest. "I don't care about the skirt! but Mary and my Dad are probably going to notice it when I get home."
"They might be in bed?"
They weren't. Because it was 9pm when Anthony dropped Kate off at home, a nervous kiss before she opened the door as quietly as she could.
"That you Katie?" Mary's voice called out mildly, as soon as she snuck inside.
"Yes! Who else would have a key?!" Kate called back a little hysterically, there was movement in the living room and Kate pressed her back against the wall praying that they didn't-
"How was Anthony's Peanut?" Her Dad's smiling face appeared in the hall, Mary smiling beside him. Kate felt her cheeks burning, her heart hammering.
"It was good." She managed to squeak out.
Mary eyed her shrewdly, "Katie, tomorrow I think we need to-"
"Sorry, Um, I have some homework to do." Kate whirled quickly, her back facing up the stairs, taking a tentative step.
"It's the holidays." Her Dad frowned.
"Never hurts to get a head start!" Kate said, blessedly thankful that she'd reached the landing, and without waiting for a response she whirled around and left her bemused parents in the hallway.
"Kate, honey, why did you wash a single skirt?"
Kate's heart stopped as she spun towards Mary, her skirt from last night held in her hands, a curious look on her face. She tried to school her features into something calm.
"Oh um, when I got home I realised i'd spilled something on it. Didn't want it to stain."
Mary nodded, still not looking away, "I would have got the stain out for you. Or told you how."
Kate's cheeks burned, Christ the thought of Mary instructing her how to remove Anthony's cum from her skirt, mortifying. Absolutely mortifying.
"I didn't want to bother you, you already do so much for me."
Mary sighed, folding the skirt and placing it gently on the end of her bed. "Sweetheart, you're my daughter, it's my job."
Kate felt awkward tears sting at her eyes as Mary smiled gently at her.
"Katie, I'm going to ask you a question and I want you to be honest with me, if you can."
Kate's heart stuttered, panic rising in her chest, she knew what was coming next.
"Are you and Anthony having sex?"
"Yes." It had fallen from her lips before she could stop it, and honestly she didn't want to deny it anyway. They were in love, and he was going to move to Cambridge with her and start a life together, and she didn't want to lie about that, not to Mary. "i know what you're going to say, but Mary, I love him and-"
Mary shook her head, "Are you being safe?"
Kate nodded. "And he's respectful? He treats you well, he asks for consent?" Kate nodded even more vigorously.
"Then that's all I care about. You're eighteen sweetheart, I'm glad you're happy." And then Mary was gone, leaving Kate sitting on her bed completely bemused.
"You told Mary what?!" Anthony squawked later that day in his mother's kitchen, the carrot he'd been chopping flinging wildly from his hand.
Kate rolled her eyes, "It's not a big deal. She knew anyway, she saw the skirt."
"Jesus Christ." Anthony muttered to himself, his ears burning. "Your Dad is going to kill me."
Kate blanched, "Honey, I don't think Mary ran down stairs and said Yes Tom, Kate lets Anthony cum all over her!"
Anthony let out a startled gasp. "God, can you imagine? He'd hit me with the walking stick for sure."
Laughter bubbled between them at the ridiculousness of the situation, echoing through the kitchen as their lips met.
But really, Kate did have to admit it was a little awkward when Mary left a box of condoms on her desk after going to Asda the next day.

Riverdale S4 Ep7 Thoughts *Spoilers*
- FRED 💔💔💔Coming DIRECTLY for my heart I see, okay Riverdale
- WAIT… YOU’RE TELLING ME NO ONE RAN AGAINST HIRAM SO NOW HE’S THE FUCKING MAYOR? I, despite knowing nothing about how to be mayor, would run against him SOLELY so he wouldn’t win and I know I’d win because NOBODY trusts or likes Hiram fucking Lodge………………. god this show
- Do they guys not know that “the guy from the community center” is the one that found and took Dodger to the hospital? I mean I guess not because Archie’s a minor and doesn’t HAVE to stay, he could have just dropped him off and left but like… this is some fucking reaching shit right now. Archie as their enemy has never gone after them without Dodger attacking FIRST. He’s trying to help the KIDS, how does that make you think HE is the one who fucking did it???? The fucking reach… but also…. who DID do it 👀👀 Probably Hiram’s bitch ass…
- This bh scene of them talking on the phone while Betty packs could have been cute but at the same time it’s bh. Plus, I find it hilarious that Jughead doesn’t wait for Betty to say “I love you” back like???
- I love Choni, but God Toni looks EXHAUSTED. I hate how they’ve turned one of the healthiest ships into… this. Toni loves Cheryl which is why she’s not leaving her despite all of this batshit crazy shit going on, but Toni is caring and hardheaded (before they took away her personality smh) and she would shut this dumb Julian and Jason shit DOWN. Just let my girls be happy again, please… putting Cheryl through all of this bullshit CONSTANTLY is getting real old, real fast.
- Why do people always get afraid of killing someone when it’s self defense?? Like, you won’t get in trouble! You were P R O T E C T I N G yourself/someone you love. It’s the same mistake Alice/Betty made with that mystery guy that tried to hurt Chic or whatever, it was self defense but God forbid anyone actually goes to the police and doesn’t have something to use against them later on 🙄🙄🙄
- Veronica goes above and beyond I wanna cry
- Hiram really has to be a bitch ass ON THANKSGIVING? What a real dick… BUT YASSSSS FP BEING ON ARCHIE’S SIDE WE STAN
- FP not quitting because he knows that’s what Hiram wants, ALSO because he’d just put in another Minetta… ALSO SUPPORTIVE FALICE UGH WE STAN! Can they just get married already? They’re basically already married and I’m soft for them.
- FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE! FLIRTY ALICE!
- Hermosa does realize that the only reason she’s actually invited to a dinner with her father and his family is to manipulate Veronica, right? Like, throughout ALL the years even after her mother died we can tell he didn’t invite her because Veronica didn’t know about her. Like… I just…
- YES VERONICA!!!! WE STAN THE QUEEN BAD ASS BITCH OF RIVERDALE!!
- MARY 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 GOD I’M SO SAD
- Toni’s hair is amazing, and Cheryl’s dress is FIRE
- JUGHEAD WAS THINKING OF MR. CHIPPING WHILE HAVING SEX (I mean it’s implied because they’re cuddling in a bed and the way they’re holding each other tends to be how they hold one another after sex) I’M—THAT’S SO FUCKING FUNNY. I love that when they have sex both of them think of literally ANYTHING else.
- Betty with that hair and that shirt? Yes. See, if they weren’t almost step-siblings and didn’t bring out the worst in each other, this soft scene could actually be cute!
- BETTY… ORDER CHINESE FOOD? THERE’S A LEVEL 4 STORM OUTSIDE?? WHO WOULD BE OPEN DURING AN ICE STORM? Then again… Veronica is the baddest bitch and a go-getter so Pop’s would definitely still be open (also because of the still)
- POWER MOVE ALICE OMGGGGGGG FP IS LIKE “WTF NO”
- First of all, that “Yes my fantasy of eating junk food for thanksgiving!” Betty was so cute… but like that’s also a really weird fantasy… although they are almost step siblings, are still together, AND fuck to serial killer documentaries like weirdos so
- lmao “I’m too cool for everything” Brett put on that bunny mask… to scare Jughead? I know he’s annoying (although not as much this season THANK GOD) but damn you buried the kid let him breathe
- This dumb blonde bitch really thinks this kid brutalized Dodger like that despite CLEARLY being a sweet person like??? Maybe pay attention to the clues and don’t just take their word (who also said it was PROBABLY if I’m remembering correctly)
- That pajama jughead with Veronica in her PJ’s,,, the perfect duo that Riverdale will never give us. How fucking tragic 😭😭😭
- What, does Betty suddenly know how to make some kind fo truth serum or something?
- ALL THIS FRED TALK I’M SO SOFT BITCHHHHHH PLUS SHADE ON HIRAM?! Also,,, you can’t give a previous alcoholic drinks, also also that speakeasy is not yours but umm… it’s for Fred so I’ll let it pass
- LMAO BETTY YOU ARE NOT IN THE SERPENTS FUCK OFF. YOU SAVED A DOG. Oh bitch I just KNOW people are going to use that in those not-really badass edits of Betty… but at least Betty KNOWS that she’s not a sweet/nice person lol. Doesn’t mean I don’t miss when Betty was actually a nice, sweet, good person back in season one though
- OH MY GOD ALL OF THE KIDS STANDING UP FOR ARCHIE YESSSSSSSSSSS! WE STAN!!!!
- Can’t she just wait for, idk, dodger to get out of his coma and then ask him who did it? Like I know it was Hiram hiring someone but like???
- VERONICA OH MY GOD THE BADDEST BTICH OF RIVERDALE!!!! WE STAN!!!! STAB HIM HUNTY YESSSS
- YES MARY!! THE QUEEN OF RIVERDALE! Also them being surprised that she went mama bear? girl wbk Mary was a badass not to be fucked with
- HIRAM STOP TRYING TO MAKE FP GET DRUNK WE KNOW YOU’RE TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO FIRE AND REPLACE HIM
- OOH BITCH FP NO ONE IN THIS ROOM WILL CARE IF YOU KILL HIRAM. THEY’LL KEEP IT A SECRET!!!! Also,,, Billy Loomis vibes and uhhhhhhhhhhhhh YES
- WAIT,,, THEY REALLY FUCKING… OH BITCH??????
- NOT ANOTHER TEACHER STUDENT AFFAIR OH MY FUCKING GOD. DONNA I TRUSTED YOU, WE ALL TRUSTED YOU.
- “I’m a serpent, every bone in my body is a Serpent.” YES BRING BACK THE SERPENTS, TAKE OVER FROM JUGHEAD AND MAKE ALICE THE QUEEN YES UFDSOHFSHFS WE STAN FALICE
- Choni is so soft ughhhhhhhh <3
- UGHHHH NOW ONLY IF THEY COULD MAKE CHONI GET OUT OF THAT DAMNED PLOTLINE THAT’S RUINING THEM THEY COULD RULE RIVERDALE AGAIN
- NOT BETTY REALLY BELIEVING THAT DONNA WASN’T MANIPULATED… and people still want to call Betty a feminist icon? She’s ANYTHING but.
- How would you not realize a camera in your room?? It’s BLINKING.
- “Dig in, everyone.” A SOBBING
- “We monitor our patients very closely” *patient is gone* cliche of course… there’s no way they could get him out without tripping any alarms. My mom was in the hospital and on a respirator because she couldn’t breathe by herself and ANY slight movement that meant she couldn’t really breathe it would do like this jingle and it was really loud and wouldn’t stop until a nurse came in to fix it. But anyways this is Riverdale and nothing is realistic
- Mmhm Betty once again butting into things she shouldn’t and hurting someone in the process… why do people think she is a good detective again?
- NOT THIS BEING USED AS A WAY FOR JUGHEAD TO QUESTION DONNA’S STORY OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDD
- OMG ARCHIE PLAYING THE GUITAR AGAIN PLEASEEEEEEEE MY HEART
- THAT WAS YOUR DAD WATCHING OUT FOR US PLEASE SOMEONE GRAB MY HEART BECAUSE IT JUST FELL TO THE FLOOR.
- A PLAQUE FOR FRED I’M SOFTTTTTTTTTTTTT
- FP WEARING A LEATHER JACKET THAT I’M ASSUMING IS A SERPENT JACKET.
- If this means my Serpent babies are going to come back…. I’m going to CRY.

S 2-3, 3.10 -> S14, 14.10
So I’ve been talking about the S2/3 parallels in S14 for a while, but I finally got back up to 3.10, and I am. Legit. Screaming.
(edit, trimming down this OP and adding a cut, now that I’ve managed to form legible thoughts)
I’m. Screaming?
LIKE.
I
can’t?
Go watch??
Like if you can’t binge all of S2-3 in the next few days at least go rewatch 3.10?
Fuckin’ it’s even in the same episode position?? like??
“What do you want?”
Tumblr media
More behind the cut. After the snap cut to black, of course.
Okay, I’m going to try to form some coherent thoughts here, but I won’t deep dive each independently, just 3.10
Though I may get strung up for saying it, season 13 had a lot of Dean-John parallels, most explicitly, grieving!Dean and arguably grieving!John, as in the attitude imparted by the loss of Mary, a foreground laid out for us almost like a prequel in S12 (which I argue is essentially what S12 is to the 13-14 era.) Read it as Destiel, read it as family being equal to Dean, I really don’t care about it as much as we can understand that Dean reflected John, to the dismay of many Dean stans, while still coming to a healthier resolution -- because John isn’t Dean. But I believe it was even Davy that giggled in public about similarities, which we can, I dunno, pretend they were only there accidentally, or maybe planned. *shrug*
Either way, S1->S13 reasonably has a lot of reflections as a result, but I don’t think we’ve properly explored that and now that this may bring it into some retrospect I’d love to see other people talking about it.
But I’m going to shorthand S2&3->S14. Why both seasons together? I dunno. Maybe because 13 was truncated. Maybe they just blended well.
I’ve already hollered about 2.01->14.04, Ghost of the Comic Shop Owner Bearing The Keys To The Legacy upset, and lashing out at one of the legacies. People were quick to associated some things but oddly ignored things like the squirrel T-shirt while he was downed, I dunno. Reasons I guess. If you want to extrapolate your own thoughts, just... 2.01->14.04; there’s a lot to unpack there.
S2 & 3 are pretty rich in surrounding parallels. Blood experiments and special children, hives and extending “family” in unusual ways, the inability to let go, versus depressed letting go, versus just letting go; everybody’s been on about season 14′s fairy tale themes when 3.05 Bedtime Stories literally exists and, while it’s Snow White and the fandom’s been more locked on Sleeping Beauty, realistically the two aren’t so dissimilar. You know, the whole Deep Sleep thing, and I might poke people to relook at 3.05.
Optimism also rings strongly with “what’s dead should stay dead,” which harkens to 2.04 Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things over unhealthy refusal to not Let Go. Also taps on John issues and thus cycles back to 2.01, I mean... oh and the Colt’s gone kinda like the magic spear they chased instead. I mean, I could go on.
But 3.09 greets us with “Nothing can save you because you don’t want to be saved,” (given we also hear this for Cas later in the show) but this was Sam to Dean regarding his deal.
And then 3.10 strikes. The freddy kreuger head hopper. We find Bobby in his dream original house, but haunted by his worst nightmare; he’s liberated, but the threat remains and they dive back in.
They get out of the car, looking around. As they walk in front of the car, music can suddenly be heard. DEAN looks behind him and then when he turns around, a corner of the clearing lights up, and there sits LISA BRAEDEN (from episode "The Kids Are Alright") on a little blanket and a picnic basket. DEAN just looks at her and she smiles up at him. (MUSIC starts playing: "Dream a Little Dream of Me" by the Mamas and Papas, with an echo reverb)
LISA Hey. You gonna sit down?
DEAN doesn't move, he just looks at her. She has a glass of red wine in her hand and she reaches for another glass in the basket.
LISA Come on. We only have an hour before we have to pick Ben up from baseball.
She holds the glass for him, giving him another smile.
Dean stammers in denial, having No Idea What That’s About He Swears (because she totally wasn’t his original endgame or anything, but we’ll get back to that), before... tripping into his nightmare.
Tumblr media
I know some people have speculated FacedownGuy is Dean too, I know I sure have, but this... well. Let’s get a little further into this sequence.  LONG transcript blurbs inbound.
DREAM DEAN Talk about low self-esteem. (he chuckles) Then again, I guess it's not much of a life worth saving, now is it?
DEAN (to himself) Wake up, Dean. Come on, wake up.
DREAM DEAN I mean, after all, you've got nothing outside of Sam.
DREAM DEAN (continues) You are nothing. You're as mindless and obedient as an attack dog.
DEAN (smiling in denial, braving it out) That -That's not true.
DREAM DEAN No? What are the things that you want? What are the things that you dream? I mean, your car? That's Dad's. Your favorite leather jacket? Dad's. Your music? Dad's. Do you even have an original thought? No. No, all there is is, "Watch out for Sammy. Look out for your little brother, boy!" You can still hear your Dad's voice in your head, can't you?
He motions with the weapon to his head.
DREAM DEAN Clear as a bell.
DEAN (smiling) Just shut up.
DREAM DEAN lowers the gun.
DREAM DEAN I mean, think about it ...  all he ever did is train you, boss you around. But Sam .... Sam he doted on. Sam, he loved.
DEAN I mean it. I'm getting angry.
DREAM DEAN Dad knew who you really were. A good soldier and nothing else. Daddy's blunt little instrument. (angry) Your own father didn't care whether you lived or died. Why should you?
DEAN (angry) Son of a bitch!
DEAN pushes DREAM DEAN hard, knocking him into the wall above the desk.
DEAN (screaming angrily) My father was an obsessed bastard!
DREAM DEAN tries to get up and DEAN kicks him down on the desk again. DEAN holds the weapon as a bat and hits DREAM DEAN once and then pins him to the wall with it.
DEAN All that crap he dumped on me, about protecting Sam! That was his crap. He's the one who couldn't protect his family. He-
DEAN steps back and swings the weapon again, hitting DREAM DEAN twice.
DEAN He's the one who let Mom die.
DEAN pins DREAM DEAN again.
DEAN – who wasn't there for Sam. I always was! He wasn't fair! I didn't deserve what he put on me.
He backs away from DREAM DEAN.
DEAN And I don't deserve to go to Hell!
DEAN shoots DREAM DEAN twice in the chest. As he lowers the weapon and looking at DREAM DEAN, we see the latter is dead. Blood is splattered on DREAM DEAN's face and his eyes are closed.
DEAN approaches DREAM DEAN on the desk, looking at him. Suddenly DREAM DEAN's eyes flickers open and they're completely black, as when a demon possesses a human. DEAN widens his eyes at that. DEMON DEAN sits up, looking into DEAN's eyes.DEMON DEAN (hard and angrily) You can't escape me, Dean. You're gonna die. And this? This is what you're gonna become!
We see DEAN, when he first snapped his fingers. His eyes are now black as night, he's a demon. He smiles and snaps his fingers and the screen goes black.
Tumblr media
Huh. That’s kind of wild now, isn’t it?
So again, there’s a lot to unpack here and this I will, in shorthand. Dean’s daddy issues aren’t new, but we’ve been hollering about John coming back and, as if by magic, or almost like they’ve been coding and prepping it to come back, he’s coming back! But Jack has helped Dean already deal with many of his issues, the ghost of those keys to the shop/car. His family has extended.
Reel back to Lisa.
5.22 - “It’s never too late.” - Dean almost had that ending, had it taken from him, and yet what was it that everybody was banging drums about in 13.5? Oh right, It’s Never Too Late. That was his Big Win. Can’t forget that.
Again, read into that side of the relationship however you want. What I’m here to bang on gongs about is what did Dean want - “They chose family.” And Michael tried to get his hopes up, tried to crush them, and packed Dean away.
Tell me again bardude isn’t some part of Dean.
We see in the preview that the blue is a powerful blue, depressing and ominous. And when the family comes in, Yellow light instead takes the bar for the battle. This is something I already discussed earlier in the season with the use of Blue & Yellow in 14.06 as exploration of the psyche, and in a side meta dividing Red and passion from life choices, with Dean followed by family yellow rather than red drive.
So I mean,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here it is again. I mean, try to get bolder with it, I dare you.
Either way about it, a question given to Dean, by Dean, more than ten years ago is about to be faced, and they are about to come in support of him, but in reality, Dean Winchester will need to save himself. He will need to recognize he has what he wants - he has family, it isn’t too late, it’s here, and they’re there for him, facing his shadows.
Dean spends season 3 teaching Sam things, like how to take care of the Impala when he’s gone; but that’s because Sam, like his inner self literally taunts him over (as if, perhaps, in wanting of that Family Dream?) was all he had. But he’s no longer all. He’s important, but he’s grown. He doesn’t need to just Take Care of Sammy. Sammy’s taking care of himself, strong, building his own legacy. Dean instead spends S14 teaching Jack, letting go of the wheel. It’s Jack that learns about the Impala now. It’s family. And they’re here for him. Facing his shadows.
Season 3 was “I have to get you ready for this.” Season 12, Dean looked at Sam and said, “you’re ready for this.” And season 13, Sam was ready for this. And they’ve grown. It’s about family. And they’re here for him, facing his shadows.
“And in the end, isn’t that really the whole point?”
Where that leads us from now, I’m starting to highly suspect I’m going to have to watch a little bit further into S3 to figure out, but the question is if saving himself spins out another ending, or if he truly accomplishes it, or if it comes back for him - or if “see you soon, Dean” strikes and we do endure a trip to the Empty to overcome. After all, the Empty will come once Cas is truly happy and Take It All Away. Is that to be the end of our season? Dragged not by hellhounds to hell, but instead, by the shadow to the Empty? And does that leave us at the cusp of S4 again in how to recover Dean?

Major Crimes-Sanctuary City Pt. 1
I finally got the chance to watch both the Duff/Tony/Mary facebook chat and  Santuary City Part 1.
A couple notes of interest from the facebook chat:
Tony is still very much trying to save the show, he talked about the #savemajorcrimes and didn’t rule out the possibility it continuing. Duff basically said not to bother, that it is all over and Mary doesn’t seem to give out any hope either. I loved the “hi baby” and “I love you” with Duff watching. I just wanted to shout, look Duff, that took all of two seconds. You complain you don’t have enough time with Mary for the things her fans want but it took all of two seconds for her to tell Tony “I love you” and give him a kiss, surely you have time to sneak that in an episode. Certainly not too much to ask for a couple that is actually a couple.
I am now a bit more worried about this season. While Tony earlier had said that there would be closure but enough would be left open that the show could go on, Duff made it quite clear that it was “done”. As if he had completely ended it and there was no way for it to go on, which leads me of course right off the cliff with Sharon having a terminal illness or retiring, which given that she just got promoted would have to be because of something pretty serious. When asked if he was happy with the way he ended things Duff would not say he was happy. I don’t know if it was because he was upset that he had to end things or because he did something bad to the characters.
I know I may seem completely paranoid when it comes to a Sharon illness, but I seriously do not want to go through a Laura Roslin again. It pretty much destroyed BSG for me. I can’t tell you how many times I would have re-watched that show if they hadn’t had her cancer return--or if they had gone a different way with it. I have friends who still refuse to watch the show because they aren’t willing to get emotionally invested with knowing how it ends. I held out for years because of that.  If the MC has to go end, I want it to go out happy with our characters content with their lives. I thought we’d get that with Sharon and Andy getting married, I just really don’t want that destroyed. Rather than looking forward to episodes I actually have a knot in my stomach, like I am just waiting for Duff to drop the ax. I hate feeling this way. I just wish I could have enjoyed this last season rather than living with this trepidation. I hope it is not something that hangs over the whole season.
That said, I will move into Sanctuary City Part. 1
-I got a weird vibe from this episode. It felt like even though Sharon had actually been promoted to Commander that she had less authority than when she was Captain. Even when Taylor was involved in a case it always felt like Sharon was in control. Right now it feels like she is very subordinate to Mason and that she is just one of the team, not the leader of the team. That makes me sad.
-Provenza’s comment about the boys and the priest was not out of character for him but I was surprised when he rolled his eyes after Sharon got irritated enough to remind him--and everyone--that her daughter and both her son’s attending St. Josephs and no priest in her parish had ever been accused of wrong doing. Sharon isn’t some innocent blind victim here, you know darn well that Mama Bear Raydor did her homework when it came to where she schooled her children and that she would have been hyper vigilant about things given the church scandals.
“A double feature? Should we be looking for these boys in the 1950’s?” LOL Buzz that was a really great line.
“I need to question Mr. And Mrs Diaz and I’m out of bodies.”
They didn’t have enough detectives to question the parents with Julio out on bereavement so Sharon has to send in Buzz, but Andy is sitting right beside her. Why didn’t she send Andy in?
“Remember Buzz, you ask the questions.” “He knows that Andy”.
Sharon seemed uncharacteristically sharp with Andy here. I sensed some irritation and tension between them. I’m not sure if it’s because Andy tried to coddle her when she had the flu or what, but something seemed off between them in this whole episode. It was as if we were back to the way they were a couple years ago, the warmth of last season gone.
“I’m still shaking off the remnants of that terrible flu.”
Andy had moved to her with concern when she had trouble standing, then rolls his eyes when she says this. Does he think it’s something more serious? Or does he think Sharon went back to work too soon--hence the tension between them?
I’m a little surprised that Andy and Father Stan didn’t acknowledge each other and that Andy was quick to jump on Father Jonas. It isn’t out of character for Andy to be cynical but there just seemed to be a disconnect between Sharon and Andy in the this episode. Later Father Stan does warmly greet Rusty.
“Here is your ring bearer.” “Well, one of them.”
Ricky and Rusty are going to be ring bearers? I thought for sure they’d be giving Sharon away. Ring bearers are usually little boys. Is Emily going to be the flower girl? Weird. And why is Rusty still going between Mom and Sharon again. I thought we were done with that. It’s strange. Once he moved fully to Mom you’d think it just would have stayed there.
I really felt for Sharon in this episode. It had to be hard to have her faith and her church under attack from her “family”. Provenza was especially tough and tactless. Sharon is professional enough not to overlook or assume something because the people under suspicion are people she knows and cares about. She will want to get to the bottom of things, but it has to hurt. I really wish we could have had a supportive Andy scene in here somewhere. Just a moment where he could rest a hand on her shoulder and tell her “I know this is really hard for you, sweetheart. Keep your chin up.” He was always really good a bucking Sharon up when she needed it before they were a couple and I feel like she needs it.
Camilla-Okay, what a childish annoying character she is. Obnoxious, juvenile and unprofessional.
Sharon’s flu-Not sure what to make of this. We know that Mike and Wes had the flu and Father Stan said a third of the parish got it and Julio’s mom died from it. So, flu is going around. But was all that said just to throw us off the “Sharon has something else much worse” trail. Or will it really be a flu? I don’t know but you know the way I am leaning. Sharon just simply does not seem that sick for Rusty to be so worried that she is putting off her doctor’s appointment. Makes me wonder just how sick she was and why Rusty doesn’t seem to feel that she is doing better. Except for one moment she seemed fine.
“Hey that’s great news detective now maybe you’d like to hear what the comnmander would like you to do.”
Oh sarcastic Andy at his very best. Loved this. And loved how completely oblivious Camilla was to all the looks and sarcasm sent her way.  I also think the Camilla/Provenza connection was a little contrived. He doesn’t seem all that interested in his own kids, why would he take an interest in the Paige kids?
Loved Provenza’s outrage over that racist pig, Garrett’s comments.
-The look on Sharon’s face when Ian Nunez(sp) was griping about child support and then his pathetic little pats on his own back for seeing his kid once every few years, it’s like you could just see her thinking that he sounds just like Jack trying to justify himself.
-I liked having Wes in the interview, we did see a lot more of him in this episode, but it was strange not to see Andy in the interviews. Wonder what that was all about. Also, while I really like Wes, given that this is the last season I want it all to be about the characters we’ve known and loved all these years, not the newbies and especially not the brand newbies.
-So, it looks like the worry about Stroh is Brenda, Emma, and Rusty--and Linda Rothman. I was hoping Sharon would be on that list. I’d love for a little Andy angst over something like this NOT ILLNESS.
Last scene-I think that’s the most emotional I’ve ever seen Sharon. Her voice was breaking as she spoke and she walks away and leans on the fence. Andy looks concerned but gives her her space. It’s really hitting her that it could be a priest in her church who killed this boy.
Now on an extremely superficial note, what the hell did they do to her hair in that last scene?
