Hi there! Could I request some DNA headcanons for Hongou, Miyuki, and Harada with a shy and demure female S/O who loves to knit? She always has a project going on and often brings her knitting with her in a spare bag so she can knit at bus stops and what not. Thank you in advance!

Hongou Masamune

A shy and demure partner would be fine with him, he’d even like it because he’s a pretty dominant guy and he likes being the one to protect you.

However, he would probably lose interest fast in someone who just says yes to everything he says and never challenges him in any way.  Challenge here doesn’t mean fight with him, or argue or even necessarily stand up to him.  He just can’t tolerate a complete doormat, or who has zero independence and is too clingy. 

This boy is 100% independent.  He’s grouchy and impatient, so someone who is too sensitive probably wouldn’t work.  He’s waaaaay softer with you than everyone else, but he is still who he is.

As I said, he’s a protective one, especially if his partner is shy.  No one’s pushing your boundaries when this boy is around.  He’ll crush the person flat.  Definitely gets into trouble for fighting lol

Likes to watch you knit.  He likes that you have something you love too.  Doesn’t even mind if you just knit at his games or practices.  As long as he can see you and you smile at him a couple of times, he’s good.  He’d rather you be content than bored out of your mind.

Has to be coerced into wearing what you make most of the time (if you make clothing).  Not because he doesn’t like it, he absolutely does, and if you give him something you make, he’ll be boiling on the inside and blushing on the outside – though he’ll deny it until he’s blue in the face.  He just hate being challenged by his teammates about things like this, and they all know that any knitted products he wears came from you and proceed to tease him about.

May grumble and scowl, but everyone knows his winter hat, scarf, gloves and socks were made by you, and he’s proud to wear them.

Miyuki Kazuya

I hope you have fortitude.  Doesn’t mind if your shy and demure, even likes it, because he could use quiet peace in his life.  However, he will tease and he loves seeing you blush so watch out for that.

Is never mean like he sometimes is with his teammates.  His teasing is soft and only a touch prickly.  Most of the time, even while you are blushing, you are warm and giggly after too.

Respects you like the knitting boss you are.  If it’s post-high school, his favorite times are when he’s home early for the day, or has the day off, and gets to cook for you while you sit in the kitchen with him and knit.  It’s very domestic for him, which is important because he hasn’t had much of that in his life.

Wears anything you make, anything.  Does not care what it looks like, he preens while wearing it.  It’s basically to the point where his teammates don’t even bother to mention it anymore, because he just takes everything they say as a compliment, no matter what they were trying to mock about it.  Usually it’s color though, because he has no fashion sense and will wear whatever color he’s snagged – neon pink, olive green, brown, bright blue, sunshine yellow, if you made it, he’s wearing it.

Part of it is because he loves the look on your face when he wears something of yours, and the pretty blush you sport.  Can’t resist giving you a kiss or two though.  Another part is that he’s not generally one for PDA, especially if it embarrasses you, so wearing things made by you is a good alternative.

Make him something not clothing, like a little plush or figure?  It sits on his desk in a place of pride.  Make him a blanket?  He’s using it at every opportunity, including every night.

Mostly though, since he’s a hat-guy, he has like 27 different hat’s you made and wears them according to his mood that day.

Harada Masatoshi             Shy and demure is PERFECT for him.  He has to deal with Mei all day and after that, he really appreciates someone who knows the value of quiet.

Is happy with whatever level of contact you are comfortable with.  Never pushes you for anything and will generally ask to kiss or touch you unless you tell him you don’t need him to.  Is very sensitive to your needs and appreciates you a lot.

One of his favorite things is to have you in his lap while you knit.  Sometimes he’s doing his own thing, other times he watches you work.  It amazes him that you can make such tiny loopd and that you can take a ball of yarn and turn it into something lovely.

Loves it when you make him sensible things.  Everything you make is nice and well-crafted.  And warm, if it’s meant to be.  Plus, Mei gets jealous every time he shows up with something new, so it’s win/win in his books.

If you want to talk about your projects, he’s all ears.  He may not understand everything, but he’s attentive.  Knows most of the vocabulary by now.  Karlos asked him once how he didn’t die of boredom and the outfielder was running for the rest of practice and into the night.  No one dared to say anything about your hobby after that.

He’s gentle and attentive and doesn’t demand you come to his games, though it makes him happy every time you do.  If you knit the entire time, he respects that, because he also knows you are paying attention.  You made an effort to learn about his sport too.

Really appreciates the hats and scarves when he is drafted by Hokkaido.

Absolute wreedheid

Ik herinner me geen enkele oudere in mijn jeugd en jonge volwassenheid die dement werd of alzheimer kreeg. Dat zou heel gemakkelijk gekund hebben met de enorme kennissenkring van mijn ouders. Misschien was dat ook omdat er uit schaamte amper over gepraat werd, nu is alzheimer en dementie alom aanwezig. Langzamerhand is er een canon te maken van boeken, films, documentaires en series. Zo zijn beelden ontstaan die tot ons (westers) collectief beeldarchief zijn gaan behoren: een kamer vol opgeplakte post-its, dwalende oude mannen en vrouwen langs drukke wegen, documentaire beelden van treurige verpleeghuizen, advertenties van zonnige villa's met lachend verzorgend personeel. Het zijn de dementie- en alzheimer-memes van deze tijd. Alle liefde, optimisme en tederheid ten spijt is er amper iets wreders te bedenken dan je identiteit kwijt raken bij leven.

En toch ging ik gisterochtend naar de Japanse film 'A hundred flowers'*. De trailer bevatte alles wat ik kon verwachten van de zoveelste film over het onderwerp. Ik was die dag alleen, en daar hoort luiheid bij of anders een soort verstilling. Lui was ik genoeg geweest de afgelopen week. Ik zette me, zo merkte ik, toch een beetje schrap toen de film begon. Japanse films zijn of traag of gewelddadig of absurd, zo denk ik wel eens. Dit kon niet anders dan een verstilde film worden, zo zeiden de eerste beelden: een verouderd interieur in bruintinten, een oudere vrouw in zacht vloeiende kleding die Bach speelt op de piano – ze stokt heel even – en dan een verwarrende scène waarin de tijd lijkt ingedikt of juist uitgerekt. De bodem is gelegd voor het niet chronologisch vertelde drama van een moeder met alzheimer en haar volwassen zoon. Ooit verdween de moeder zomaar uit het leven van haar zoontje. Nooit heeft hij geweten waarom en wat er is gebeurd. Het script is geraffineerd, omdat zijn niet-weten en haar vergeten elkaar spiegelen. Slechts in één scène komen alle angsten en frustraties van hun beiden tot een uitbarsting. Wij als kijkers weten wat er is gebeurd. We zijn de alwetende kijkers, een geruststellende positie. 'Hersenschimmen' van Bernlef lezen of 'Iris' van John Bayley, kijken naar een documentaire, 'The Father' of 'Still Alice' zien, de oude Stoïcijnen erop na slaan, dat alles is hoe indringend en belangrijk ook iets anders dan de angst en de ontreddering van een naaste recht in de ogen kijken.

Mijn moeder werd rond haar 91e dement. Ik vertel mensen wel eens hoe mooi en belangrijk die laatste jaren voor mij waren. Teruglopend naar huis in de regen, na afloop van de film, vroeg ik me af of die verhalen niet te mooi zijn. Ze laten de wreedheid waaraan zij werd onderworpen, en die zich voor mijn ogen afspeelde, in tact. Geen enkele filosoof, filmer, schrijver, dichter of god kan die wreedheid verzachten, het verzacht alleen de pijn van wie daarvan getuige is – achteraf.

it’s the festive season. it’s time for joy, love, and presents! so let’s open up the gift bag and see what’s in store.

i’ve met and connected with a lot of wonderful people through tumblr, that i would love to show my appreciation for somehow. therefore i decided to make gifts for as many of these lovely people as possible. originally i started with the lovely people of the house of daiya server, but since expanded to embrace as many of these special people as time would allow.

to keep it short:

for each person i’ve made a little gift in the form of gifs/mangacaps/the likes.

each gift is based of a favorite character. for the HOD members, i picked based on the favorites stated in your introduction, while also trying to avoid duplicates. for the rest, i went by memory or simply asked.

each gift has a little piece of lyrics attached, which either reminds me of you, the way i picture the way you love, or “simply just” serves as me, wanting to show you my love and affection for you, the friends i’ve made along the way.

the gifts will be posted over three days leading up to christmas eve, as there are quite a few, and i don't want to clog the dash too much.
