Hey diddle diddle pt4

This time, the props were made by Kiran, who designed the illustrations of the strange drink Derek consumes, both in a glass and in a can, using yellowish, blue, and brown tones for the can. He also created drawings of the cutlery.

This week, we had to work on the master shot, which was handled by Kiran, Amy, and Ella. The first one is Amy's, and you can see that it has muted colors. This is because the main character, Derek, has a pessimistic personality in reality.

Until Derek drinks the strange beverage, he doesn't start seeing more saturated colors. Kiran reflects this in the second master shot, intensifying the color saturation and creating a colorful aura to emphasize the protagonist’s experience—seeing his friend as a cat.

And lastly, we have the third master shot, created by Amy. This scene takes place at night, and due to Derek’s hallucination, the moon appears in multiple saturated, neon colors, with Kristall,who is perceived as a flying cow,floating above it.

Master shots

Yesterday we had staryed working on choosing some of the master shots for the final pieces we had to do for the animation. Kiran had chose a few and sent them to us, each of us choosing one to do so we all had some extra parts of work done.

Out of the 5 i of course used the 4th one of the cow jumping over the moon, wanting to work on my like trippy visuals for the aftermath of the drinking. Im not the best with digital or colourful art but this was a great way to try and branch out and mixing the media. I used lorynas sort of colour scheme for the moon and the simple but very cute sort of cow fron kirans style but a bit more simpler.

I wanted it to show the fireworks in the background to show its a festival still but also sort of a silly trip with the sort of comic book word layout.

Spent over an hour doing video editing on a website because my usual video editing software crashes when I try to import clips but the website refuses to export it 😮‍💨

Looking through the creator's twitter and I'm not even sure if he's continuing to update the thing.

Completed mastershots for our animation which we are now calling the Plague of Petals.

I decided to scrap the initial plague man shot and worked on a scene from inside the village focusing on bianca as she is who and where we spend the majority of the story with.

Nursery Rhyme -Wall Tour

This is the latest picture of my groups wall before the presentation. We have produced more work than I ever expected.

We have so much work produced, that there are layers of pages. Newer drawings on top of the older versions.

In preparation for the presentation I reorganised the wall. I reapplied the tape and gave each page space, instead of them all being offset. I incorporated the Mastershots into the layout. For example having the mastershot of the crocodile next to the crocodile designs.

My main contribution to the project was with visual development. My Iron Age research helped inform the style and character development. I also designed the merchant character.

So for my master shot I decided to do boiling to get is as close to how I would actually animate it if I had more time. I actually liked how it turned out with the boiling.

I had animated the background and colors on 3 and the character herself on 2s.

‘Movement; Animation Mastershot & Background’

With the power outage resulting from Storm Éowyn, I was unable to attend college, but as soon as I could access my drawing tablet once more, I set about producing the animation background I had previously sketched out in my storyboards. I took the sketch and digitally traced over it in Photoshop in the hope of keeping the perspective accurate. I then toyed with the colour, ultimately choosing a yellow and purple combo, given the colours are complimentary and thus generate visual interest, and the painterly approach should help keep the characters, the moth and bat, leap to the viewer's eye, as I'm hoping to achieve them in a lined style. I should also be able to play with the tone and colour of the two against this background as part of the visual storytelling; the white moth should look more like an 'innocent' herbivore against a darker coloured bat, which should come across as shadow-y and dark, marking it as the predator.

Picking 5 of my reference images I made 5 colour palettes using the website coolors. I wanted several so I could pick and choose to combine them appropriately.

Episode 6 ! La semaine prochaine, on atteind le dernier épisode du chapitre 1 ! C'est toujours compliqué de trouver un design sympa pour ce qui sort des bulles classiques car je n'ai pas les logiciels pour, mais j'ai trouvé ma solution avec la note de Mikey. Je vais continuer avec cette technique si elle vous va.

Episode 6 ! Next week, we're wrapping up this chapter with the last episode ! It's always complicated to find a nice design to translate what isn't part of the classic talking bubbles because I don't have that kind of software, but I found a nice solution with Mikey's note. I'll go on with this technic if it works with you all.
