One shot - Halloween & bff Ken
Oh I’ve definitely got a story that fits this scenario!
“C’mon, Ken,” I called out with a chuckle, “can’t I help pick out the costumes? You brought me here for some advice, and I wanna help!”
“No!” my friend called back from somewhere else in the store. We can’t see each other because the racks of costumes are taller than I am so as to keep all the merchandise off the floor. He told me to wait at the front of the store so he could bring costume suggestions to me, which translated to my brain as ‘wander around the store and look for a costume for me’ while I waited.
This was last Halloween by the way, and Ken and his Barbie were going to be all matchy this time, and to my friend’s surprise, Barbie asked Ken if he would pick out their costumes. Something along the lines of ‘fun and exciting and can be a little scary if necessary but not too scary’. So yeah, that leaves a lot of choices, and Ken wanted to do this right. So a second opinion was necessary.
That’s where I came in.
“She asked me to pick, and I’m going to pick!...I just need help narrowing it down.”
I’m looking at a really cool Adventure Dude costume with a fedora while I ask, “But like, wouldn’t me showing you some options help you narrow it down more?” There’s no immediate reply, and I can’t help but smirk as I try on the fedora. “Oh dude, you look cool,” I tell my reflection which was totally true because I did look cool. If I look cool in a cowboy hat, I definitely look cool in a fedora too.
Then I hear from a different part of the store, “Welllllll…yeah okay, that makes se–hey!”  That made me stand straight and look around, wondering what was going on, until I heard, “Where’d you go?”
“Oh,” I chuckled, “I’m looking for a costume for me.”
“Oh! Where are you? I’ll come show you–”
“No, you wait up front,” I suggest as I start walking that way, fedora still on my head. “I’ll find you faster than you’ll find me.”
When I did arrive at the front, he proudly showed me peanut butter and jelly costumes and asked, “Ta-da! What about these? Aren’t they great?”
“Totally! But umm…”
His smile faltered a bit. “But what?”
“Well…I was just kinda wondering if those are ‘fun and exciting and a little scary if necessary but not too scary’ enough.”
“Oh.” He looked at the costumes again and hummed super thoughtfully. “Fun? Check. Exciting? Not exactly. A little scary? Not even close.”
I shrugged apologetically. “Sorry. Maybe you can text her a picture of them?”
“No no, not yet. There’s more options to look at.”
Boy were there. After looking at a monkey costume paired with a yellow suit and hat, a chicken paired with a white tux and a bucket, an elf costume paired with maple syrup (whatever that’s about), Princess Peach and Mario, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan, a safari couple, hitchhiking ghosts, a princess and a prince, superheroes, vampires, Victorian era clothes, and coffee matched with a donut, we finally found costumes that Ken could not get over.  One was a blue and white dress with a big bow for your hair, really long, striped stockings that went with black shoes, and the other was another suit - a very colorful suit - with a really big, green top hat.
“This is it!” he said excitedly, and he was practically hopping on the balls of his feet. “This is it! Barbie’s going to love these! I think this checks all the boxes!”
I nod in agreement. “Fun? Totally. Exciting? I would say so. A little scary?”
“Not necessary,” Ken finished for me. “These are the perfect costumes! We’re going to rock this Halloween!”

RvB characters as equestrians!!
Church: Dressage snob 100%. Every single show him and his horse are getting massages. His horse gets chiro every few months or so. Man is decked out in Halter Ego with every color of the rainbow in Equestrian Stockholm saddle pads and jackets. Loves matchy matchy outfits but will deny it when anyone asks. Owns a flashy warmblood and will complain if a thoroughbred scores higher than him.
Tex: Eventers scare me a little so that’s what Tex is. She rides a batshit chestnut mare that will only listen to her. Absolutely loves the thrill of jumping. Probably refers to the mare as her dragon.
Tucker: Western. Probably owns a nice little bay quarter horse gelding. Loves loves loves dressing up all nice and flashy for western. Thinks that the chaps and cowboy hat makes him look hot. They do.
Caboose: He is the hardest one to decide. Maybe he’s got an Australian saddle and just does whatever? Whatever the discipline is him and his horse would be connected on a very deep level. Works really well with mares because he understands that with them you must ask, and not tell.
Wash: I might just be biased but I feel he would have been a big dressage rider when younger. At the very least has his bronze. As he got older he moved out of competition and focused more on trail riding and relaxing. I feel like he’s the type of guy to be like those horse girls you see on Instagram reels that buy sick horses from auctions/slaughter houses and rehabilitates them.
Kai: Speed Queen!! My girl is whipping around those barrels so fast you can barely see her. Definitely rides a paint mare. She’s always the flashiest rider there.
Sarge: Rodeo, specifically roping. Big quarter horse fan. Him and Church probably bitch at each other all the time about horse breeds.
Grif: My first instinct was western, but I imagine he’s probably strictly a trail rider. Doesn’t care for competition, just likes to amble around the forest with a bomb proof horse.
Simmons: Most horses take advantage of his lack of confidence so he’s pretty much an unofficial red team groom. Maybe leases an older gelding so he can trail ride with Grif.
Donut: Started out with western because he liked the attire but it was too slow for him. Kai got him into speed. Loves palominos.
Lopez: Western! Maybe a bronc rider?
Carolina: Absolutely hunter jumper. Owns a big Warmblood or Oldenburg or something along those lines. You almost never see her knock down a jump. Makes everything look effortless.
Doc: Jack of all trades. Has probably done a bunch of different disciplines and leased a bunch of different horses. Tells everyone he’s looking for his heart horse.

My entire game loop revolves around being able to put the Fat Chocobo Head on and have it still make sense… But I have been indecisive for a long time so now I’m just leaving it to a vote lol
With this being the ONLY perfect-tie vote, I decided to archive the pirate look and save it for whatever the new Dawntrail class is (wot with that lookin' kinda piratey.)
I enjoy playing in this outfit, but the original look just does not choco my 'bo. The new look has 10x the feathers, both on the hat and skirt. That being said, I maybe don't loooove the Raktika tattoos and such.
LEFT This was the OG choice when it was pirate vs cowboy, but since leveling MCH I've revisited
RIGHT Slapped on this Ravel chest while leveling and DANG this is kinda noice. Has all the feathers in the back too
Previous votes: Part 7: SGE was another easy win for the high level gear.
Part 6: SMN was pretty inconclusive, except people generally liked the higher-level gear more. Makes sense! Part 5: NIN, 100% voted for the Naruto look, and honestly same Part 4: MCH was a perfect split, tumblr equally enjoys pirates vs cowboys. This is probably the most difficult one to decide, both are egg-cellent Part 3: SAM was a vote for quantity (of chickens) over quality Part 2: BLM, Tumblr enjoyed Halloween and witches Part 1: DRK, we decided lore components were our favorite

I have a pair of knee high boots I NEVER wear bc they dont go with Anything in my closet (they are silver and like, felt? crushed velvet-y? material, whereas most of the white or lighter stuff in my closet is cream toned or warm toned, and these are Cool Silver. So. Not The Exact Vibe to match properly) and since I've had them probably 3 years and I NEVER wear them but also have trying to be Less Wasteful as one of my goals this year....I've been debating painting them? like I already Don't Wear them, so if I fuck up it wouldn't be a huge loss (also, they have like 4 inch heels on them so not rly an Everyday Shoe in general) been having the same issue with a purple cowboy hat I have, I don't wanna get rid of it, but rework it somehow.
and I had this very fun idea of what if I...made them matchy somehow? not entirely sure what color paints I have (and I rly dont wanna go get new fabric paint or smth bc all my money is being funneled into Bills for the foreseeable future and im Being Good and Prioritizing) but. could be very fun little project... torn a bit on WHAT to paint on them tho. like Some Pattern...could do a silly rococo theme bc thats always a Hit with me and would go with my other clothes. could do florals bc thats also a running theme (and I believe ive got plastic flowers in my craft drawer I could affix on them) but ALSO been really into celestial stuff, so stars/moons (or an alien theme???) would be COOL but also wouldnt match a lot that I already have, bringing me right back to square one of my problem being 'wow this matches nothing I already have and could pair it with' AAAA

Name Predictions for Wikstrom-Etbauer #2
On August 3rd, 2022, Grace (Wikstrom) and Kord Etbauer announced they were expecting their second son together, due in early November 2022. Grace is a close friend of Claire (Spivey) Duggar, the wife of Justin Duggar. The couple welcomed their first son, Grit Wes Etbauer, on either November 5 or November 6, 2021. This means that the couple’s two sons will be only 12 months apart!
Tumblr media
Previous Naming Information
Because this is only the couple’s second child, we don’t have a ton of naming information available. All we know is the name of the couple’s first son, Grit Wes Etbauer. It does help that this second child is also a boy, so the style may be more consistent than if it was a girl. Based just on Grit’s name (and Kord’s), it seems that they lean into a country-rancher-redneck-tough-guy naming style. While I hate it, it does seem to fit their personality as a couple. Kord is the son of a rodeo cowboy, is frequently seen wearing cowboy hats, and loves to hunt and fish. I am expecting a similar “country macho” name for their second son. If the first name is southern cowboy, the middle name may be more western rancher.
Tumblr media
Preliminary Predictions
This is a prediction that is going to not be very based on hard data at all, but rather intuition and vibes. I’m just going to make a list of some names that I think incorporate the same feel as Grit. I will pay special attention to names that are also nouns, one-syllable, and/or begin with G. Gracie and Kord have not said if they are doing a “G” theme, but I could see them doing that, especially with her name starting with a G. Or perhaps, they will go the Waller route and have boys’ names start with G and girls’ names start with K.
Rust/Rusty
Dusty/Dustin
Cash
Garth
Slate/Slade
Stone
Ridge
Gunnar/Gunner
Garrison
Gage
Gray/Grey
Hunt/Hunter
Colt/Kolt
Colter/Kolter
Boone
Bear
Buck
Cliff
Huck
Rowdy
Ryatt/Riot
Ransom
Blade
Axel
And as for some middle name options? Any on the above list are still options, but I am thinking something more like Tex, Wyatt, Jack/Jax/Jackson, Hank, Cal, Jeb/Jed, Lee, or Chet.
Tumblr media
My Final Predictions
Do I have to pick one at all? I think I have a pretty good list that encapsulates their style. It is just very different from my own. Even though I have quite a few two-syllable names listed, I do think the name is probably going to be one syllable. I think my top 5 choices are Stone, Colt/Kolt, Gray/Grey, Boone, and Rowdy. I will include more two-syllable names in my top 10 down below though.
If I had to pick just one though, I’m going with Gray/Grey. I feel like Grace and Kord are definitely the type to do super-duper matchy names for their kids. Or maybe I’m just being optimistic because that’s one of the least bad names on the list IMO.
As for the middle, I’m going with Lee or Wyatt, depending on the first name choice. They are both pretty cohesive with Wes for different reasons. I’ll include a list of ten possible first and middle name combos down below.
Grey/Gray Wyatt
Boone Lee
Stone Chet
Colt/Kolt/Colter/Kolter Ray
Rowdy Jed
Gage Jax
Rust/Rusty Hank
Slate/Slade Jackson
Gunnar/Gunner Tex
Ridge Clay

3 Dream Outfits I Wish I Wore as a Teen

3 Dream Outfits I Wish I Wore as a Teen
I’m 31 years old and I dress like my teen self’s dream.
Call it an early noughties renaissance; suddenly Britney Spears’ and Justin Timberlake’s matchy-matchy Canadian tuxedos look — if not exactly doable, then the fun side of terrifying. I’ve been seeing, buying and/or re-discovering (from my own archives) all the stuff I spent hours scouring eBay or Urban Outfitters nearly 16 years ago as a good Catholic school girl: ruched tube tops, colorful beaded bracelets, A-Line denim mini skirts and super-sized flares; gold chain belts, cowboy boots, grunge-y florals and broderie anglaise frills; slip dresses, handkerchief tops, ribbed crop knits and Doc Martens. Even Lancome Juicy Tubes and ballet flats are back! Oh, and shell jewellery is everywhere. (Wald Berlin, Rebecca de Ravenel, Tohum, to name few participating designers.)

In a way, I feel a bit sorry for my teen self. I worked so hard to find and save up for the shit I loved. It feels grotesquely unfair that it is far more available to me now: my old faux leather brown cowboy boots from New Look (that I’d wear with a black rah-rah-skirt — its return is surely next) and chunky faux leather coin belt have been re-vamped for 2018 courtesy of Ganni and Kate Cate. When I paired my new boots and belt together with a floral maxi dress, I realized my contemporary (and somewhat elevated) re-occupation of my teen self was complete.
I am not, it must be said, particularly concerned that I am sartorially regressing because of some repressed issue. Fashion is cyclical and I have always loved grunge. (What I/fashion calls “grunge” is far from its origins; it is a prettified, fashion version.) I think a floral mini dress and black chunky boots is forever cool — with fishnet tights, should the weather call for them. In my early twenties, it was any number from Kate Moss x Topshop (still the most thrilling high street collaboration of all time). Now, said dresses are by Rixo or The Vampire’s Wife (their Liberty print dresses are the best), although my favorite of all is still this Attico one-shouldered one below, which remains the most expensive piece of fashion that I have ever bought.
This Kate Cate belt you see here: It’s exactly the kind of thing I imagine Sienna Miller would have worn (with her Ugg boots, of course) at Glastonbury in 2004. The red version — to be worn with a long black cotton dress from Flow and the very same cowboy boots, of course — is next on my list. These belts aren’t cheap, but boy do they transform an outfit. Think of them as statement necklaces for your waist. If I get cold, I’ll add a denim jacket. No surprises there.

When I had my baby, I quickly realized how impractical 90% of my footwear was. Even flats aren’t that comfortable for dashing around from park to desk. I have not taken off these chunky burgundy Chelsea boots since I bought them six weeks ago. I am even wearing them as I type. If you don’t feel like you can pull off the black lace-up style my younger self would have dug, these are a cool alternative. They make everything I own look instantly low-key and cool and have, in fact, allowed me to look at the more feminine side of my wardrobe in a new light. Most days, I pair them with a vintage denim skirt and a white cotton blouse from Martha Ward x Queen and Belle, but on my wish list are these shorts from Emilia Wickstead, which I borrowed for this shoot. On first sight, they are a pair of ultra-pretty party shorts and not my usual fare, but with a ruched top and Docs they became my favorite thing.
This blouse I’m wearing is from one of my favorite recent discoveries, Olivia The Label. She has a transparent supply chain (it’s literally just Olivia) and I love the designs. Olivia joins a coterie of women who make everything themselves (see: Maison Cleo) for very reasonable prices and simply open/close their orders in accordance with their availability.

Possibly the most exciting renaissance of all, however, is the handkerchief bandana top in its delightful, nostalgic bandana print. The gymnastics I used to have to do in order to get a selfishly small square red bandana around my boobs and tied in a miniscule knot at the back. I’m surprised I still have ribs. This silky Diane Von Furstenberg scarf top (red at the front! Pink at the back! Gold choker neckline!) not only does all the hard work for me, but you can also wear a bra with it — something that’s become increasingly important to me since I’ve started breastfeeding.
If capacious denim is your thing, there’s a lot of it around: Rejina Pyo, Ganni, Raey. My next order of business is finding a pair of low-slung denim bermudas (Daisy Dukes make my inner thighs feel exploited) to wear with my scarf top alongside trusty slides so that I can sail into the summer. Now pass me my bucket hat?
