The first drawing after completing the trilogy. Inspired by Matt Rhodes concepts. I remember how I wanted a desktop wallpaper with this concept, but all were in small resolution. Had to draw my own.

i just discovered that matt rhodes, one of the most amazingly talented concept artists, made this mass effect 3 concept art of the normandy.. featuring kasumi, thane, jack, grunt and what appears to be zaeed in the far background(?).

he envisioned that the normandy in mass effect 3 would be a pirated version. the crew would be on the run from cerberus and the alliance and they would fill the ship up with scavenged equipment, setting up bunks for extra recruited soldiers.

Came across another great Artist who worked at Bioware. Now Art director according to his artstation page. I loved the Dune Designs he did. He also is making his own Graphic Novel Tellurion.

happy beach day

"Dispatch, 320 10-41, any actives?" Matt called with a groggy voice into the radio as his car roared to life in the garage of MRPD.

"Marking 320 10-41 at 02:38" replied dispatch, "no actives at this time" and then sweetly, "Good morning, Honey."

"Morning, Honey." Matt called back as he scrolled through the roster and shrunk into his seat to see it at bare bones (Hall, Dark, Rhodes, Forcer, Stubble, Ziggy, Dugong, Sharp, and any other favorites of yours that I failed to mention). He really just wanted a calm, quiet day of traffic stops.

The red check engine light came on. Off to harmony, Etta!

When Matt gets to Harmony, Etta fixes his car and they have a nice long chat over cups of tea. Etta tucks a thermos for Richard into the glovebox. Matt lost track of time and his tummy was loudly grumbling. Tunes blasting, he zips into the city and decides it is a day for pizza. Maggie and Matt have a lovely chat and she sends him on his way with a few extra pizzas. Matt remembers the tea for Richard and heads out for MRPD.

Thinking that maybe the radio is malfunctioning because he has not heard anything in the few hours he has been on duty Matt checks the channel and calls into the radio, "Radio check?" 

A chorus of "10-2's!" burst through before he finishes the question. 

He pulls over and scrolls through active units again and they've dwindled, Ziggy and Flop had gone 42. ‘Good for them‘, he thinks as he sighs a little. A car NOS-es passed. Matt takes off after it, lights on, blood pumping. The cars scream after each other. After a mile or so the car slows and pulls over.

Matt and Richard do the funny incorrect radio phonetics bit as Matt approaches the car. It is registered to Flop Dugong! Even worse, Ziggy is behind the wheel. They had noticed how Quiet the city was and decided to have some fun. Matt scolds Flop for endangering his life with Ziggy behind the wheel. Ziggy does that charming ‘haha okay’ thing he does. Matt makes them swap drivers. Richard insists over the radio they get a ticket and strike points and be arrested and be fired. Matt does something reasonable in compliance with the penal code.

Matt sits in his car and turns off his lights. Ziggy and Flop take off. Matt fills out the paperwork. Now several hours into a quiet shift, Matt begins to notice the pleasant bird noises, the warm gentle sun, large fluffy clouds, and he makes a plan. Happy Vacation Dad Rhodes Mode Activates.

Matt races to MRPD and sneaks up on Richard who is jamming out. Matt joins him. Eventually Richard comes back from La La Land. It is a nice moment. Matt passes Richard the tea thermos. They have a cup or two over pleasant conversation and jokes.

Matt asks Dark for help getting dressed for the beach. Roll RomCom style makeover session with several hard cuts to various ridiculous outfits until we land on the one that is Just Right. Dark gets dressed too and Matt sits in the locker room just enjoying this time with his husband.

He sends out a 311 for everyone to meet in the upstairs parking lot of MRPD in 15 min in beach ready gear, attendance is mandatory, and this is an order! Then he texts Flop the same. Matt and Dark leave MRPD to rent a bus. 

When they get back to MRPD the whole force is there, waiting apprehensively in breach ready gear. When they see Matt and Richard exit the bus everyone has a good laugh. The confusion is cleared up and they scamper away to get changed. They pile into the bus and start to relax on the nice fun safe ride to the beach.

At the beach they play ball, they swim, they rest, and are at ease. They enjoy frozen treats and lounge in the sun. No one gets sunburnt. Flop and Ziggy build a nice sand castle. Cody lands on it to make a saving ball catch. Flop chases after him screaming things that Flop screams. Ziggy sighs at the pile of sand in front of him before chasing after Flop. As the sunny afternoon turns to evening Maldini's is delivered. 

The group ventures over to the Dean’s World pier. They play games, Matt, Richard, Lauren, Jenny, and Connor watch the sunset from the top of the ferris wheel. Flop and Cody's shouts from the roller coaster are faint under the soft wind and carnival noises. Ziggy waits for everyone, struggling to corral the stuffed animals and treasures won on the Midway.

They return to the beach for a bonfire. The party roasts marshmallows and reminisces as the sun goes down. Matt and Richard eventually wander away, hand in hand, from the jovial cacophony. They tune in to the company of each other, sharing the peace of the day, twinkling stars, and easy roll of the ocean. They get an ice cream and enjoy a nice long walk on the beach and . . .
