A potential hot take, personally speaking, but I feel that Toph's lie-detecting ability is too much of an overpowered ability to the point that it feels convenient when it works and makes things easy for herself or the team, or if it fails at the worst possible time (and it feels like the writers have to mandate it).
Girl probably shouldn't have had that ability in the first place. She's already too stacked.
Also, personally speaking again, Toph does not have enough character growth or mastery over her behaviour to justify being so powerful at such a young age.
It's overpowered crap like this that makes me SO glad that other prodigy characters such as Po from the Kung Fu Panda movies can still get his ass kicked by villains or allies (in spite of his good heart and strong will).
And in the case of Anakin Skywalker, Toph's ridiculous memetic fandom that hails her as a nigh-unstoppable badass and worships the very ground she walks on makes me appreciate that Anakin on the other hand was NOT granted the rank of master, because, in the words of Obi-Wan from the Revenge of the Sith novel, "How can you be a Jedi Master when you have not mastered yourself?"

Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor (Matt Stover) "The villain, Lord Shadowspawn, is a Force-user who has a different view of the Force than that of Jedi or Sith; he believes that the Force is the Dark, which is basically destruction and entropy; he induces visions of the Dark — of being alive in the eons after all the stars burn out — to cause despair that he can then use. On a metaphorical mind-battly level, his ultimate technique is to become a black hole, which makes sense in story."
Dead Silence (S.A. Barnes) "A GHOST SHIP. A SALVAGE CREW. UNSPEAKABLE HORRORS.
Claire Kovalik is days away from being unemployed—made obsolete—when her beacon repair crew picks up a strange distress signal. With nothing to lose and no desire to return to Earth, Claire and her team decide to investigate.
What they find at the other end of the signal is a shock: the Aurora, a famous luxury space-liner that vanished on its maiden tour of the solar system more than twenty years ago. A salvage claim like this could set Claire and her crew up for life. But a quick trip through the Aurora reveals something isn’t right.
Whispers in the dark. Flickers of movement. Words scrawled in blood. Claire must fight to hold onto her sanity and find out what really happened on the Aurora, before she and her crew meet the same ghastly fate."

I think my favourite thing about The Revenge of the Sith novelisation by Matt Stover is that when Palps is trying to sow seeds of doubt in Anakin's head by making him think Obi-Wan is sleeping with Padme, before he actually namedrops her, Anakin immediately assumes Obi-Wan is shagging a guy.
'"The rumour is that he was seen leaving this Senator's residence this very morning, at an... unseemly hour."
"Who?" Anakin opened his eyes and sat forward. "Who is this Senator? Let's go question him."'
it's even italicised in the book I-

And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker.

i think you could have easily co-wrote rots book, i see a lot of stover's writing in your fics, especially the way you write padme and how she interacts with anakin and his love for her, fully aware obi-wan is the third silent participant in their relationship. and let's not forget that book is not only gay as hell but has george lucas' full blessing, so if someone told me, hey, kit was the one who actually wrote the scene where obi-wan wakes up and the first thing he notes is that yep even though i'm hanging upside down this is definitely anakin's ass right here
this is like top five best compliment ive ever gotten lol and my grandma called me her favorite when i was eleven 🤭

Can we just put Matt Stover in charge of all of Star Wars? He seems to be the only one who actually understands these characters

ANAKIN SKYWALKER, PADMÉ AMIDALA, and OBI-WAN KENOBI from STAR WARS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Justification:
"Anakin was torn apart by keeping his relationship a secret, if Obi-Wan was in on it too he could have supported Anakin much better, especially through Padme's pregnancy. Also in the Matt Stover novelization part of Anakin's fall is because he is paranoid Padme is cheating on him with Obi-Wan. If Padme and Obi could've worked together to get their boyfriend some therapy, Darth Vader would absolutely not exist." - @ncoley

Casa tomada (House taken over) (Julio Cortázar) "It tells the story of a brother and sister living together in their ancestral home which is being "taken over" by unknown entities. The mystery that revolves around what those entities are is largely left up to interpretation, allowing the genre of the story to vary from fantasy to psychological fiction to magic realism to political fiction, among others."

The Force is such an interesting concept. I like the way Matt Stover describes it in his version of Revenge of the Sith.
It flows like water, changing to fit differently for each person. I think it opens a lot of both fluff and angst abilities (wink).
Ahsoka and Anakin are so similar it reflects in their force signatures. They are both raging storms of potential and emotions but Anakin far surpasses her. His will of the force is fueled by fear and anger, like a hurricane. Ahsoka's is a far calmer storm, one more driven by wanting to do more, to BE more.
If you don't know either of them well, you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Obi-Wan still messes it up.
On days he needs to find Anakin for a meeting with a council, he'll reach out into the force and look for the storm and let it lead him to Anakin. But when he gets there he's met with an upset Ahsoka.
Or
Plo Koon searches for Ahsoka, and he feels the calm storm growing closer. Only to turn and become face-to-face with Anakin returning from a meeting with Senator Amidala.
I just think force signatures are neat.
